The Breadline Bluff is a stretch of coastline 20 miles north of downtown Juneau, Alaska, and 12 miles north of the Juneau airport (personal transportation is recommended). Our restful waterfront house is perched on a wooded lot and features beach access, a covered wrap-around deck, firepit, grill, and all the comforts of home (laundry, full stove, television and high-speed internet).
The master bedroom has a queen bed with attached bathroom, a view of the ocean and private entrance onto the covered wrap-around deck. The east bedroom has an option of two extra-long twin beds or a king-sized bed. Also available- cots, air mattresses and a twin fold-out for extra sleepers!
Local host will be happy to provide local tips.

Great place to stay. Very comfortable. Outside of town and quiet. Easy access to airport and ferry harbor.

We loved our stay at this house. The water and mountain views from the house and the balcony are great. The walk down the long flight of steps to the rocky beach below is a great way to get your morning exercise and get more great views. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is pretty well-stocked. The house has not been recently modernized but it's in good shape. We stayed here for a few days before departing on an Alaskan Dream Cruise leaving out of Juneau. We rented a car through Turo so that we could visit the town to Juneau, Mendenhall Glacier and some hiking spots. Saw the salmon running at nearby Eagle Beach State Park (beautiful park with lots of birds too) and there are lots of other trails and things to see along the Glacier Highway and other parts of Juneau. This was a lovely home base for our visit.

Let me tell you the when we got to the property we had been flying for 9 hours not bad but when we walked onto the back porch the view was amazing! It was like 1am when we finally arrived but you could hear the eagles calling out and the waves hitting the rocks down below.
We couldn’t sleep so we sat out on the back porch just listening to all the nature. We saw porpoises, orca, salmon jumping and heard humpback whales splashing. There was even a sweet bear just being nosey with the flowers and stairs later that week we saw his girlfriend!
Everything was stocked we didn’t really need to buy anything. We had a great time. There was some snags but we contacted the host and got it all settled.

Great view! The place was clean when we arrived and Alice was super friendly and helpful. Perfect distance from town where food, entertainment, and groceries were convenient. Everything you need for cooking was provided in the kitchen. Many things to do and see in the area. We would highly recommend and visit again!

Everything good comment you read in the reviews is on point and very true. Alice and Bill are welcoming hosts with a great set up for those who want a peaceful place to stay. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, the house is clean, and the views are impeccable. We'd definitely stay again and again.

The propertywas outstanding. The view was unforgettable and we saw half a dozen bald eagles every day. Kitchen has everything you need, plus lots more. Best of all was the beautiful and carefully thought out amenities—the library of books was amazing, the piano and guitar welcome treats. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Breathtaking location
Absolutely beautiful location. It’s ‘out the road’ but we’ll worth the short drive from town. Quiet neighborhood right on the water. Stunning views from the deck. The host is amazing and super helpful!

Spectacular home and view
Lovely home and location with plenty of room and everything needed. Adults took master bedroom, 13yr old took the other bedroom and 10yr old took the pull out couch. Did laundry using the weighted lid trick as instructed and it worked fine.
Great location to do whale watching out of Auke bay charters.

Everything we hoped for and more
This was a perfect spot for our family to call home for our Alaskan adventure. We went on a number of excursions during our stay but the most wonderful memories we created were here...kayaking and canoeing, fishing, exploring the sea life during low tide and just enjoying the beautiful scenery. And everything we needed was there at the house. In fact dinner our last night was salmon that my son caught using the provided fishing gear. There are a lot steps to get down to the shoreline so you get your exercise going back up but it is so worth it. My one piece of advice is to find a walking stick for traversing the shoreline on day one and keep it handy. That stick made exploring so much easier. And a special thanks to Alice for being the perfect host! If we ever return to Juneau this is where we will stay.

Juneau Stay
A great property; well located on a bluff with an awesome ocean view. Far enough out of town to give you a great taste of living in the woods of Alaska -with all the comforts. Alice, a great hostess who was helpful and accommodating. Yet she did her best not hover or be bothersome in any way. A great place to stay - a cabin home with character and all the comforts. Juneau is a great place to vacation- fishing, wildlife-we saw bears, deer, porcupine, marmot, otters, whales, killer whales and more…. We’ll be back…

Excellent hospitality!
We would highly recommend this property! The owners were extremely thoughtful, down to every detail. For example, Upon arrival, there were not only fresh flowers on the kitchen table, the there was also a delicious chocolate on everyone’s pillow. There was milk and eggs in the fridge, along with some bread for us to use to get us started. Again, we would highly recommend staying here!

Serene
This property was scheduled last minute due to Covid restrictions on our previous rental, and I am SO glad it was! This home was so peaceful, quiet and easy to get to! The owner was incredibly accommodating allowing us to show up hours before check in to do some minor decorations and drop off all of the groceries AND she let us check out late! It was perfect!

Great place to stay and explore Juneau!
We had a wonderful experience. The home and host were very welcoming. The beds were comfortable. The views off the deck were beautiful. The home had everything you could possibly need during your stay and then some. We would definitely stay here again someday!

Great house
We visited Juneau for the first time and this house was perfect. Alice was welcoming and very informed about the local area. She gave my husband some fishing spots to try. The house was just right for our family of three. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked for cooking, we ate almost all our meals there. Laundry room was very helpful. Alice gave us access to all of her outdoor gear to use, canoe, paddle board, rain gear, boots, gloves etc..and even bear spray! We enjoyed the deck and stairs down to the beach, all 143 of them. The resident cats came to visit each evening which was fun too. Would definitely stay again!

Spectacular views
We were a party of two couples and Alice’s place provided a great layout with plenty of space for relaxing and family time. Everything we needed was provided and more - Alice is a very thoughtful host. The best part, though, is the view and the location. If you want to be away from town but close to everything, including a number of hiking trails, and get to gaze out upon the water and mountains in the distance, I can’t recommend Alice’s place enough. I hope someday to come back.

A great serene location in the trees.
My wife and two teenage sons really enjoyed this location! The highlight for us was the isolation on a rocky shoreline. Just a note: The stairs to get down to the beach are many, like over 100. They're are steep and precarious at the end. We had no problem, but if you have bad knees or are physically challenged, it'll be a challenge. We listened to whales, eagles, ravens, and beautiful calm.. The house has everything you need. A great covered deck up in the trees to drink your coffee. You can make out the ocean but no big direct view. No Verizon phone coverage but good wifi. There is a land line here. We definitely would stay here again!

Quiet and inviting getaway
We went to Juneau for a winter getaway and enjoyed every minute of our time at breadline bluff. The home is warm and comfortable, impeccably clean, has everything needed to prepare meals large or small, and is in a quiet location out the road from town where you’ll be more likely to wake up hearing the waves lapping on the beach below you. Would be a great location to escape the crowds of tourists in the summer! The home is stocked with enough books to last a lifetime, plenty of games and dvds, and the internet and tv worked flawlessly. I felt this was an exceptional value and would highly recommend this property to anyone!
Thank you Alice for sharing your beautiful home!

Wonderful view, great Juneau house away from the tourists.
The house is located on a bluff with a view of the trees, water line, Cohen island and the Lynn Canal beyond. We stayed for a week and the house had everything we needed. The host was really helpful and also provided shampoo/conditioner and many staples in the kitchen. The bedrooms are downstairs and the living, dining room and kitchen are upstairs. The internet, wifi and tv were all better than expected. An amazing array of books that tempted me away from what I had brought on my kindle. The location is quiet and about 12 miles north of the airport and the stores in the Mendenhall Valley. This is a typical Juneau house and is not super modern, but the host provides items that are really useful - like a boot dryer, fishing net, etc... We really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Scenery
We stayed at the apartment during an unusual bought of wonderful weather and the view over the channel was amazing. We loved hanging on the back porch and the long staircase down to the beach was very cool. We even saw a few humpback whales! The house was very comfortable for 4 adults (2 in each bedroom) and we appreciated all of Alice's hospitality!

Perfect
The scenery was beautiful and the home was so inviting and warm. We saw 5 whales (one was a breaching Orca) a black bear on the beach and eagles every day. Our host Alice made us feel welcome and comfortable and I believe we will be friends for life. She and her friend came to dinner and it was like someone you knew forever. I absolutely recommend this home and hostess and can’t wait to return. Convenient location quiet and serene. If you want to see black bears we saw 7 all within a mile of the cabin.

Peaceful!
We enjoyed our stay at Breadline Bluff. Lots of room to stretch out and serene views all around. Also convenient to favorite places like the Shrine of St. Therese and Point Louisa. Two very friendly cats on site patrolled the deck, and chestnut-backed chickadees visited the feeder. We would definitely come again.

Excellent location on the bluffs!
What a great house! It was perfect for 3 adults,.There is a staircase to the beach in the back and the wrap around covered porch offers wonderful views of the water and nearby Cohen Island. My first day at this house I caught Coho salmon from the beach at low tide, filmed a porcupine rummaging amongst the rocks for a meal, and saw whales up close; all without leaving the property. There are a couple nice trailheads in the neighborhood that run along the bluff and eventually down to the beach. You're far enough out of town to feel secluded yet it's only a quick drive to town for groceries or a trip to see the glacier. I can't wait to come back!
