About this apartment rental
Located between the villages of Stockbridge, Housatonic and Great Barrington. Most unique Riverhouse property located on the bank of Rising Pond of the Housatonic River.
Built around 1860, the Riverhouse has been updated and outfitted for modern-day convenience but retains its charm and unique appeal. From original painted-board floors and claw-foot bathtub with shower to modern amenities this property offers spectacular views of foliage and wildlife from the deck, picture window and bathroom of this upstairs artist’s aerie, filled with original art by local artists.

We throughly enjoyed our mini Berkshire getaway at this cute property. Check in and out was very easy. Property owner was responsive when we had a question. We enjoyed an evening bottle of wine on the back balcony-gorgeous views.

Bee couldn't have been more responsive, even though she was in the hospital after an accident! The cottage itself featured a well equipped kitchen, and we found ourselves eating in and not going out--as it was so pleasant to eat on the 2nd floor deck and watch the sun set. The apartment has a cooling cross breeze. We came with my 92-year old mother (fully mobile--there are steps) and she went hiking w/ my husband while I was in rehearsals. Location was excellent with easy access to Lenox, Stockbridge, Tanglewood etc. no shortage of things to do. There was a great bakery in walking distance, and trails for hiking nearby. Also a farmstand with delicious just picked berries. We all left feeling emotionally and physically fulfilled and happy. I hope to stay here next time I come for a vocal workshop in the area.

Location perfect for our needs. View from Deck is special. The Housatonic feeds into the pond and there is a lot of wildlife to see. The deck is good for a couple. Tight for more. You can only use the stairs to go below for emergency as it leads to the bottom deck. It was very hot when we stayed. It took 3 hours to cool the apartment when it’s 95 degrees out. There are only two small window units and a few fans. One bedroom is without. It did not affect our stay since we only used one bedroom. The floors are uneven and I recommend anyone with balance issues consider this. There are narrow stairs leading to the second floor unit. We had trouble with the tv and our host had it fixed the next day. The toaster was fussy or not working. I forgot to report that. The kitchen has most items you’ll need. The stove eyes are all downhill… interesting to cook on. Plenty of soap, detergent for dishwasher , bath towels, and paper towels, to etc. You are between the two best spots for organic produce and baked bread. Both a short distance. The home is right on the road. The bedrooms are right next to it. We enjoyed our stay for value and location.

We had a great stay. The apartment was clean and had a great view. It was near everything but in a relaxing, tranquil environment. Bee was a fantastic host. We look forward to another trip.

We stayed at this property for 3 nights. We were 4 adults and we were very comfortable. Communication with the owners was excellent. Great location for skiing at Butternut. We had one of the best dinners we have ever had at Adam’s Cafe in Great Barrington. I would love to come back in warmer weather and see more of the area. I definitely recommend this booking. .

This property met all our expectations. It was easy to loccate and provided an unspoiled lakeside view as described. The second-floor apartment, though small, was cozy and comfortably furnished. Restaurants, groceries, points of interest and hiking trails all within close proximity. Great "leaf-peeping" during our stay!

Bee's place is in a wonderful location situated along the Housatonic River. With it being central to many of the towns of The Berkshires it's a perfect option for those who love to get out and explore. There's nearby hiking trails, restaurants and shopping. We found the apartment to be comfortable and stocked well with all that you need to feel at home.

I loved this upstairs apartment in an old mill manager's house! Its view of the Housatonic River, especially in the morning with the mist rising around the paddling geese was serene while eating croissants from the Berkshire Mountain Bakery 1/4 mile up the road. Evenings with a cheese board on the deck's table were also ideal.
The town of Great Barrington is about 10 minutes away, with many cute shops to check out. Lenox, West Stockbridge and other Berkshire towns are also close by. I strongly advise using an app like Waze to get around. There are so many roads named Lenox and Stockbridge that it was very easy to get lost.
I didn't realize how many places of interest would be closed after (well-after) Labor Day. I found plenty to see anyway (the Norman Rockwell Museum is quite close, maybe 15 minutes away), so a second trip to the area will be in order to check out the things I missed.
The king-sized bed was very comfortable. The only suggestion I have is to get a shower curtain with magnets on the bottom so it doesn't billow around the shower-er.
Overall, a great place to stay with a very helpful and gracious host. Thank you!

Ideal location
Apt very comfortable for 2 people. Charming, clean and perfect location for activities and dining in the area. The view is fantastic. Kitchen needs some upgrade as not all burners on stove we’re useable and could use a few more pots and pans. Owners couldn’t be nicer and more responsive. Overall, excellent property.

Lee and Chris have been wonderful hosts and it think they tried to think of everything to make our visit comfortable. The house is clean and simple. We loved breakfast on the deck overlooking the river. A few times we saw bald eagles flying past.
The River House, as they call it, occasionally hosts free live music on Friday nights outdoors under the trees by the river edge. They provide chairs, you bring the wine and snacks. They have a Roku hooked up to the TV so you can stream anything.
The property includes easy weed free access to the river, and we brought our own kayaks. We enjoyed kayaking in the slow current, and we saw a beaver in the wild about 1/2 mile upstream from the house. (That was very exciting for me, as I grew up in a suburban area and had never seen one on the wild before.)
The Internet speed is mostly adequate but not fast, and occasional freezes would occur. We were able to stream video without problems. Verizon cell signal was one bar inside the house, but with WiFi calling active we had no problem making and receiving calls once the phone connected to WiFi.
Overall we were very happy and would like to return.

The apartment is quite charming and nicely decorated with all the amenities my husband and I needed. We stayed in mid June when there was no road noise at night. The view of the river is spectacular and intimate. It was very relaxing sitting on the deck looking at the birds and the fish. The apartment is in a very convenient location close to the Berkshire Mountain Bakery and easy to get to other parts of the Berkshires we enjoy.

Amazing Stay At The River House!
My husband and I had an amazing stay at the river house! We spent a long weekend there and the apartment was clean, cute and had a beautiful view of the lake, where we watched the sunset every night. The location is great, only a few minutes to the town of Great Barrington and a 10 minute drive to Butternut Ski Resort, where we had a ton of fun. Bee was a great host and very communicative and quick to respond when we had any questions. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Riverhouse. This is an antique mill house located on the edge of the Housatonic River. Accommodations are modest and nostalgic, and also extremely clean. The renter was responsive and very helpful when contacted, and made us feel completely welcome and at ease. This rental is conveniently located to cultural, historical and outdoor activities. It's also a wonderful place to just relax. Perhaps the greatest aspect is the view of the river and the forest beyond. With large windows across the back of the living area, and your own walk out deck, it's absolutely amazing! We are already planning to come back.

Cozy and One Heck of a View!
Just a delightful little spot, gave us just what we needed before winter really kicks into high gear. The view is restorative, the bathtub is incredible. Comfy bed, kitchen had most everything we needed to make meals happen. There are stores close enough that making a quick run for anything we forgot wasn't a hassle. Enjoyed the grill, if it was a little warmer we would have really dug on the deck. Roku made watching streaming services easy for night. Great stargazing right out the back door. Really can't say enough about it, would love to stay here again.

Anniversary Trip to the Berkshires
We stayed in the riverhouse for a few nights this fall. The view from the back deck is gorgeous. The house feels secluded but is actually very close the house is walking distance to a great bakery (walking distance), restaurants in Great Barrington (< 10 minute drive), and hiking at Monument Mountain (< 5 minute drive).

Delightful time on the Housatonic River
Our time at the River House met our expectations and more! The apartment was pleasant, clean and welcoming. The kitchen had everything we needed, there were plenty of linens and the beds were very comfortable. The big picture window overlooked the Housatonic River so whether we were inside or outside on the deck, we had a beautiful view. The owners made sure we had everything we needed and responded quickly to any questions we had. We will keep this place on our list of places to return to. We would also recommend the River House to our family and friends.

This lovely cottage and its sublime location exceeded my (already high) expectations.
Enchanting upper floor of a cottage on the shores of the Housatonic River, private and peaceful yet convenient to the many wonderful activities the Berkshires have to offer. There's a lovely porch where you can watch the sunset and later at night, see the Milky Way reflected in the river. The place is immaculate and thoughtfully equipped. Even the dishes are beautiful. Original art on the walls, handmade duvets for the beds...
