About this apartment rental
This is your chance to experience a bit of history when you stay in one of two beautifully furnished apartments above the Gerhart Building. This building dates back to 1891 and 1905. The oldest portion of the building first served as a tavern and the 1905 section of the building was built to be a hardware store known for many years as Gerhart's Hardware. The street-level portion of the building currently houses '"Hello Dolly"', a delightful gift and apparel shop, and 'Shannon's Yoga and Fitness', a great place to drop in and catch a work-out while vacationing.
After you enter the unassuming door on the street level of 2nd Street and climb a short flight of stairs, you will be pleasantly surprised to find two of the loveliest vintage apartments in all of downtown Algoma! They are bright and sunny with floor to ceiling windows in the living rooms and cozy bedrooms, with fully appointed kitchens. Apartment A has three bedrooms (one queen, one full, and two twins) and one bath and an extra sink and vanity in the hall. There is a large front living area that also has a pull-out couch and a gorgeous '4 seasons' room with knotty pine ceilings and windows around the whole room that offer a panoramic view of the winery, lake, and marina. There is a small outdoor roof deck that makes a great place to grill a meal or enjoy coffee or cocktail. This apartment has 4 small TV's that are either DVD or VHS ready and there is an extensive DVD and VHS collection with 100's of movies to choose from. Free WiFi is also available. The full-sized kitchen is completely stocked with everything you would need to create a beautiful meal, but you may prefer any of the many fine dining establishments that are less than a block away. There is a washer and dryer available for use also.
When you walk into Apartment B, the floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and graceful arches in the living dining room will take your breath away. This lovely apartment has two bedrooms (one with a queen and one with two twins) and one bathroom. The kitchen is huge and cheery - a great place to cook a good old fashioned breakfast to enjoy at the antique dining table. Again, there is free WiFi and access to a multitude of movies.
This would be a perfect place to host a 'girlfriend trip' or a romantic get-away. And don't forget about the Von Stiehl Winery directly across the street. They have a wonderful tour and they host several events throughout the year. The yoga/pilates studio downstairs welcomes drop-ins. What could be more fun than to try a zumba class with your girlfriends and then cool off with a glass of wine!

Great location in Algoma, within walking distance of nearly everything in town.
Although it was right on the main drag, it was very quiet.
Only downside was the steep steps to the apartments, but once up there, I highly recommend.

Hope to stay there again sometime.

We had a lovely time in this apartment. There are good restaurants (recommend Millie's!) and a coffee shop close. After dinner, we took a short walk to the beach. Apartment was well maintained and comfortable.

My son and I take a trip every summer to a never been before location. This year we chose Wisconsin. Loved the quiet, slow pace of the area. The apartment we chose was perfect for what we were looking for.

I rented a location with two queen beds and ended up in one with a queen(maybe king?) and two twins. It was a little disappointing to sleep in a single bed when expecting a queen but it worked. The place was clean and the kitchen was reasonably supplied with dishes. It had a homey vintage feel which was pleasant. There was a record player with some great options for music. There were many cobwebs with dead bugs throughout the space and surfaces with significant dust and beverage rings in the dust. The stairway going to the apartment smelled strongly of stale smoke but couldn’t be smelled in the living space. The room with single beds had a faux window, no air conditioning and was stifling. The door to the space doesn’t lock from the outside which wasn’t a comfortable feeling. Beth communicated that we could check out at noon and at 11am exactly there was an aggressive knock on the door with a man rudely stating that we needed to leave because he needed to clean. I mentioned that she said we could stay til noon and he was still not impressed. We left quickly. All in all it suited our purposes well enough, but it could have been a better experience with a little attention to detail.

Very nice, spacious, within walking distance of any key places. For the size, 2 bathrooms would have been nice.

The apartment was clean and spacious, and nicely decorated. The beds we used were comfortable. This was the perfect place to stay for Door County visits, and to conveniently get back to Green Bay for a doctor's appointment and an emergency visit to the dentist. Beth kept us updated on repairs being done to the property and even refunded two day's rent for intrusion during our stay. Would definitely stay again! Great host!

We had two families that came together to celebrate a wedding down the road at the Grain Loft. We decided to make it an extended weekend and have fun in the area. This apartment is so close to everything! We walked almost everywhere. During our 3 day stay unfortunately we experienced about two days of rain. The apartment was an excellent place to be. Kids LOVED the art corner and the adults loved having two living rooms. Would definitely stay again!!!

The pictures of this cozy apartment don’t do it justice. Each room is filled with thoughtful little touches that you find each time you walk through. Big windows in both of the living rooms provide for a wonderful breeze. Everything you would need is there- including the nail polish remover I hunted all over town for, only to find 2 bottles thoughtfully left in the bathroom (now there are 3🤓). Everything worth walking to is walkable- adventure is waiting! If you’re thinking twice, don’t!

Our ladies wknd was absolutely perfect staying at these apts. Everything was CLEAN. We appreciate the historic bldg, the arch doorways, the view from the windows, the SPACE to either spread out or all sit together for games or conversation.
Communication with the owner was excellent! We were ALL very, very pleased!

We absolutely loved her home. The history of the building, the decor is a feast for your eyes and there was not one thing that could be improved on. We really enjoyed the bikes for cruising around town. Her recommendations for things to do and see were spot on. The best meal we had on our our Door County vacation was walking distance from her home, Son Of Skaliwags. The best 5 star dive bar is their claim to fame, the lobster ravioli is to die for! We will definitely stay there again.

My wife and I spent the weekend here and really enjoyed ourselves! Right across the road from the Von Steihl winery and just a few blocks from the marina. Very clean cozy apartment with more room than we imagined. We will be back!

We were so impressed with Apartment A - very spacious and the sunroom addition was my favorite room to relax in with a partial view of the lake. We ended up sitting in there as a family to play cards and settle into the beautiful summer evening. We took the easy drive up to the classic door county towns all three days of our stay. It was lovely to see a more residential side of area. The apartment was very spacious and we couldn't hear any noise from the streets below. The bedrooms all had window ACs that worked well to keep the rooms cool at night. We all want to come back soon!

We were so pleasantly surprised by the roominess of Apartment A and loved exploring Algoma. The only negative would be if you have difficulty with stairs as the stairs from the street to the apartments are steep. We liked the decor and feeling of the old building even with its uneven floors! An area in the living room with crayons and things for our grandson was a nice surprise; we even borrowed a stroller from the hallway as well as some beach things the owner had mentioned. Even though Beth wasn’t there locally, the communication was great and the handyman Mike was super helpful. We hope we can come back!
