THE HOLIDAY HIDEAWAY AT THE SUNSET CABIN
This charming 1920's Lake Arrowhead cottage-style home is located in the exclusive neighborhood of The Palisades, amidst a serene alpine setting with ridgeline views & peeks of the lake.
Our 3 rules:
no smoking
no pets (sorry, no exceptions.)
no grilling or bonfires (we're surrounded by trees!)
Check-in: 3pm, Check-out: 11am
We are a scenic, 5-minute drive to downtown Lake Arrowhead Village & Shops; Stater Bros. Marketplace, outlet shopping, antiquing & fine dining and just a short 10-minute drive to Blue Jay Village; Jensen’s Grocery, Starbucks Coffee, and our local movie theater.
We are close to skiing - just 25 minutes from Snow Valley Ski Resort and 45 minutes from Big Bear Lake and more skiing, snowboarding & sledding.
NOTE:
- Beach and lake trail access is unavailable, due to the new HOA policies.
*There is a flight of 20 steps (outside) to the first level of the home (this is quite common for the mountain community) and a steep staircase with a handrail (inside) to the third floor loft.
HOME DESCRIPTION
The main living area features a vaulted living room ceiling, a wood-burning fireplace, large windows overlooking the deck and a cozy kitchen nook. Enjoy the compact, galley-style kitchen & corner dining set.
The main floor bedrooms are furnished with comfy queen, pillow-top beds & quilted bedding. A well-appointed full-bath is also located on the main level. Additionally, two twin beds, a lounge area & rustic-style half-bath are located in the upstairs bonus loft.
On the bottom floor of the cabin, and accessible ONLY from OUTSIDE through it's OWN PRIVATE ENTRANCE is "The Captain's Suite." Custom finished in natural hem-fir, this unique space will offer two of our guests some seclusion and privacy, along with a cozy, private bathroom and sunlit, sitting area.
It's absolutely perfect for a holiday vacation or even just a mini-weekend getaway for couples and families interested in sight-seeing & hiking, shopping & dining, or just relaxing in a peaceful mountain hideaway.
A grassy hillside and a tree-lined lot borders the house providing the utmost in serenity and privacy. Plus, enjoy a private deck & spacious patio with outdoor furniture to relax and enjoy the tranquil alpine setting. The best place to watch the sunset is on the deck with a refreshing drink in hand!

GUEST ACCESS
All of it! Guests have full access to the entire house with convenient designated parking. The cabin is setup to be your home away from home.
Note: There are two storage closets that are locked and not accessible to guests (in the 2nd bedroom on the main floor and one downstairs in the Captain's Suite).
*The Captain's Suite is NOT accessible from the main floors of the home and has its own private, separate OUTSIDE ENTRANCE on the opposite side of the house from the main entry).
*There is a flight of steps (outside) to the first level of the home (this is quite common for the mountain community) and a steep staircase (inside) to the third floor loft (be sure to supervise children and use the handrails).
*Arrival & check-in time is after 3pm
*Departure & check-out is by 11am
Q: DO WE ALLOW EARLY CHECK-INS?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate early check-ins -- as it will not allow our housekeeper enough time to fully prepare the home for you.
Q: CAN I GET A LATE CHECK-OUT?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot grant late check-outs. Our housekeeper is on a tight schedule to clean multiple homes, and we cannot accommodate a late check-out request. Thank you for your understanding.
Q: IS THE PROPERTY ISOLATED?
A: The Property is located in a mountain community and is surrounded by neighboring cabins. The community itself is just a few blocks from the Lake.
PARKING: There is no street parking allowed (the county citations are $1,000 which are billed directly to Vrbo guests) so please park ONLY in our designated parking area on the dirt/gravel clearing to the left of our steps. Make sure your vehicle is completely off the pavement. Be careful not to park anywhere else, like across the street - that property belongs to our neighbor's, and the county also cites the same $1,000 fine for parking on other home owner's property. Unfortunately, they are very tough on us, and code enforcement - for vehicles parked in the wrong area - will even respond in the middle of the night! They really want to issue those $1,000 fines, so please be careful! And I'll attach a photo example of where to park. If you have any questions, please message us.
** To reduce risk of wildfire during severe weather conditions, Southern California Edison reserves the right to temporarily cut electrical service to its customers, and we have no control over that. Our guests understand that there will be no refunds for power outages or internet/Wi-Fi interruptions and that they'll happily accept the unlikely inconvenience for the sake of preserving our forests!
**NOISE DISTURBANCES - Please be respectful of all neighbors. Noise travels easily in the mountains & we ask that our guests be respectful of the full-time residents that live nearby. Your reservation is for a quiet, relaxing & enjoyable stay!
** BE SURE TO COME ADEQUATELY PREPARED**
In snowy conditions, CHAINS MAY BE REQUIRED for access up the mountain and for driving on mountain roads. Be sure to check weather and road conditions by contacting CalTrans, the National Weather Service, etc.
- We do not extend refunds due to weather conditions, road closures, driver's abilities or vehicle limitations.
- Mountain weather requires shoveling snow.
* Guests will be responsible for shoveling the steps, the deck, a place to park and shoveling a path to and from the cabin.
* Snow shovels are located on the cabin deck -- shoe/boot chains are highly recommended when conditions are snowy and icy.
**MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY - Please specify the correct number of guests when requesting/booking a reservation. This cabin is strictly for the specified number of guests on the reservation booking and maximum occupancy is strictly enforced.
Q: CAN I INVITE MORE PEOPLE THAN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED LISTED?
A: Maximum occupancy does not only refer to the number a home can sleep, this is also the number of people allowed in the home at any given time. It is determined by the licensing authority based on the number of exits in the home and fire safety codes.
**San Bernardino County has codes that are strictly enforced. Be sure to abide by the maximum occupancy number for the home at ALL times.

My family and I enjoyed our time at Lake Arrowhead. This house was spacious, clean, and is in a great location. A perk was the amazing communication with the owners (including a picture where to park). The yard was big enough for our kids to play in the snow all day. There was even a super sweet neighbor who lent his sleigh to my kids. The teens loved the downstairs apartment and the Littles liked having their own space on the top floor. We are already planning on renting this house again when we come back during the summer.

We had a nice vacation at David and Patricia’s cabin. The location was great and the cabin was clean and very cozy. There was plenty of room for our family to enjoy. We had a lot of fun playing in the snow and will come back again.

Traveled with my two kids and husband and had an easy nice stay! We didn’t really utilize the entire property since it was just the four of us, nor did we cook but it seemed to have everything if we wanted to… Everything was very clean! Owners were very responsive! Great stay!

The cabin was a perfect fit for our family! Our group included our mother in law who stayed in the capitals quarters away from the rumpus of our 4 and 6 year kiddos. The A frame twin beds gave it a magical feel for our daughters, who used this space as a playroom. The location was great for our jaunts to the village, loueddies, lake arrowhead brewery, Santa’s village, Cedar Glen inn, and Cedar Glen Malt Shop. We will be back for the snow and summer fun!

We all enjoyed our stay at the Lake Arrowhead Hideaway. Plenty of room to relax, dine and play games. The kitchen had everything we needed. The sun came out the the day we left and the animals came out to see us off(squirrels, Bluebirds, etc..).

Great location, near lots of restaurants, shops, hiking trails and other activities. Very comfortable beds and very quiet. We brought a Duraflame log as suggested and one evening just enjoyed watching the fire while relaxing in the cozy surroundings. The provided adventure pass was a great plus for parking at hiking trails. It was overall a great long weekend for us. Thank you!

Lovely house close to everything
This house was perfect for our trip to Lake Arrowhead. It was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all the pans and utensils needed to cook homemade meals. We loved that there were two bedrooms on the main floor and a cute loft with two beds upstairs. There’s a door that closes off the loft so noise in the living room or kitchen wouldn’t bother anyone upstairs.
The communication with the owners was so helpful and easy. They also provided lots of ideas for activities and restaurants to check out in the area. We spent a day at the SkyPark mountain bike park and it was less than 10 minutes away. I would definitely stay here again.

My friends and I decided to find a place to get away and we came across David and Patricia’s cabin. It is a very clean, nice and cozy place to stay during the weekend. Very close to the Village. David and Patricia are very friendly and helpful, they answered all of my questions and concerns which made us feel very comfortable to stay and enjoy our time there. Lovely cabin with beautiful deck overlooking trees with partial lake view! Patrica and David were amazing! We would stay again! Our only thing would be if someone is planning to cook many large meals know the kitchen is on the smaller side but other than this and if that is not an issue then all is perfect! Perfect location for a family getaway!
We absolutely loved the home! The hosts were extremely helpful and everything from the check in process to things to do in the area to check out was seamless! They even had a bottle of wine and candy waiting for us on arrival! The hosts thought of EVERYTHING! My two little boys loved the upstairs room with 2 twin beds. The captain suite was beautiful! One of the best place and cabin I have ever stayed so far
Excellent cabin and host is super nice and very helpful in providing all details and information. We stayed with 2 kids and one infant and they loved the place and had lot of fun. The Neighbour hood is very nice and scene from upper patio is awesome. I highly recommend this cabin for everyone who are looking to have a nice experience in lake arrowhead.

My young boys loved this place. There was lots of space and the price was great! Location was good and the balcony has a great view.

Family Get Away
Renting this property through VRBO was easy. The owners of the property were very attentive and polite communicating through emails with any questions or concerns we had. The property was clean, spacious and quiet. Everything we were looking for. Even though the snow had dissipated, we enjoyed the crisp cool air. It was nice to get away for 3 days. We will be going to Lake Arrowhead again in the future.

Beautiful cabin, I would definitely book again.
The cabin was located close to the outlets and supermarket. Upon checking into the cabin, we notice the cabin was clean and had a wonderful personal message for all guest. The neighbors were very polite and helpful even and told us of areas we should take our kids. I've have NOTHING negative to say about the place and I definitely will book this cabin again the next time I take my family out.

The Long weekend get away
Nice place to escape to from LA. We enjoyed the fire place and balcony. It was super clean and the kitchen was very well stocked. It was also really close to the Village.

Family trip
Our family of four wanted to get out of town for a few days and visit the snow. The house is warm and cozy, and had everything we needed. The beds are soft and inviting. We were near town and able to get food “to go” from several restaurants. We were concerned we would not be able to order food because of the pandemic, but had no problem getting exactly what we wanted. We will definitely be back to stay here in the future.

Fantastic weekend getaway to celebrate new additions to the family! The owners were fantastic and gave helpful tips on things to do around the area. The place was clean and well stocked with supplies. Will definitely book again .

It was our first trip to Arrowhead and they were very helpful from the moment we booked and entire stay. The pictures are accurate but I have to say it's better in person! It's cozy and clean. Well decorated but not too much. I saw someone else also mentioned in their reviews, the carpet seemed so clean I decided to take my shoes off. It was great since we have 3 years old who likes to sit and play on the floor. The house has 3 separate areas - separate entrance room with sitting area which comes with a shower room, main floor with two queen size bedroom and top floor with two twins, toilet and sitting area which is so cozy! There is a door at the top of the stairs so it's great if you want some privacy. We ended up using the main floor bedrooms for us since we have a toddler and it's easy for him if he wakes up middle of the night, but we seriously considered switching around the bedrooms every night since they all look so cozy!
Kitchen was well stocked and we cooked many meals.
Bathrooms were all clean and towels were so soft.
It's located in the beautiful neighborhood and just a few min drive to a local grocery store and restaurants. It's in the residential area but the houses are not right next to each other like some area in Big Bear which we liked.
Neighbors we encountered were all very friendly and waves when we drove by, and gave us recommendations too.
We wish we could stay longer and definitely recommend!
