About this house rental
A one of a kind offering in Rochester Minnesota's VRBO's list of homes! The extensive renovations of the "Kathy House" have just been completed and the home is now ready for occupancy. Everything is brand new inside and out in this luxurious 3 bedroom, 2 bath bungalow. Main floor living ease and convenience and accessibility. Fully licensed by Olmsted county as a Short-term Medical Stay Dwelling, the Kathy House is uniquely located on a quite cul-de-sac just minutes away from downtown, St. Mary's and walking/biking distance to many shopping and dining establishments. The city bus stop is 2 houses down. The Kathy House is sure to be your new favorite place to stay when visiting Rochester!
House Rules:
- Six guests maximum with a $25/guest/night for more than three guests.
-Quite time from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
- No smoking, burning of candles or incense in the house or garage.
- No pets inside the house (even for a short visit).
- Keep the house clean and orderly during your stay.
- No alterations permitted such as painting, hanging pictures/mirrors or rearranging the furnishings, etc.
- Do not remove items, furnishings, towels, etc. from the house (except for the garage door remote control). There will be $100 charge for a non-returned garage remote control.
- Do not wear high heels on the hardwood flooring.
- Immediately notify Host of water leaks, running toilets, spills that could stain or other serious conditions that arise on the property during your stay.
- Guest agrees to reimburse Host entirely for damaged to the home caused by the Guest during their stay or for damaged or missing personal property. A comprehensive Inventory List is included in the House Manual.
- Cleaning fee covers bed linens, towels and the sanitation of all touch surfaces. Guest will be charged $50/hour up to $250 if additional cleaning is needed after departure.
- For stays over 30 days, Guest agrees to periodic access of the home by Host. In the event Host determines the House Rules are not being followed, Guest agrees to vacate within 24 hours of written notice by the Host.

Unfortunately my family’s visit here happened to be at an unprecedented stormy week in Rochester. The beautiful and very cozy space located on a quiet culdesac also proofed to be a safe place and offered all the comfort to make my family’s visit enjoyable!
I recommend this amenity highly to anyone visiting Rochester and who also wants to experience Midwest Nice❣️ - that’s how I would describe all interactions with the hosts.

I would highly recommend this wonderful home for anyone who will be visiting the Mayo Clinic as it is literally a 3 minute drive to the campus and back. It was so nice to be able to come back to a quiet home between and after appts and not be cramped in a hotel room, but be able to take time apart to think or be together and enjoy the scenery. The property is close to restaurants and shopping or you can prepare meals in the beautiful kitchen that is well stocked for your needs. Relaxing in front of the fireplaces was a huge plus and sitting in the lovely sunroom was amazing! I can’t say enough about Shawn and Shelly, as they wanted to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. We knew if we had any questions or had any trouble we could reach out to them and when you’re away from home for an unsettling reason, that’s huge! If we venture north again, I hope we’re able to book the Kathy House again! Thank you!!!

Beautiful, clean home in quiet neighborhood. Literally minutes away from everything you may need. Ye Olde Butcher, Caribou Coffee, Apache Mall and Nothing Bundt Cakes were our favorites in addition to an absolutely amazing Italian restaurant, Terza, that we dined at twice. The homeowners were incredibly helpful. No matter your reason for visiting Rochester do not hesitate to book The Kathy House. You will be happy you did.

We stayed in this wonderful property for the week of 4th of July while visiting our son who lives in the local area. It was a great home base to relax and visit. Temperatures were a little warmer than expected during the week but we had no issues due to the central a/c. The property is very quite, has been meticulously upgraded and includes everything you need for a great stay. Most notable was the cleanliness of the property, which I would imagine is a necessity for others who may be visiting or staying due to the clinic. We would stay again if the owners will have us! I cannot recommend highly enough for anyone visiting Rochester.

The house was wonderful! SO much better than being in a hotel for a week and a half while my mom was at Mayo for a heart procedure. We had plenty of room for family to visit, rest, eat lunch, cook dinner, etc. Love that we had two bathrooms and access to laundry. Lovely sunroom and outdoor space as well. We enjoyed being able to use the grill. House is clean and has a wonderful stock of amenities and supplies. TVs and family
rooms upstairs and downstairs were wonderful. Perfect place to stay.
If we ever have to be back at Mayo Clinic or have an event in Rochester we will be staying here again!

Beautiful home in quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed the sunroom watching the squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks frolicking in the backyard. Comfortable beds, great shower, nicely stocked kitchen and full size washer and dryer. Host answered all questions promptly. Would definitely stay again when back in the area.

Like many others staying in Rochester, we were there for Mayo. Shawn’s place removed a few stressors and made the day-to-day routine easier. The home is well-appointed in every way— no details were spared in conveniences and comforts. If there were six stars, we’d leave them!

Thanks Shawn and Shelly for hosting us. We are very familiar with Rochester as we had lived in the town for over 20 years and recently moved out due to remote work option. I visited with my family for 7 days for work related trip. The location of this property is very good, in a safe and quiet neighborhood, within 5-7 minutes from Mayo Clinic. The house was amazingly clean. Utensils, furniture and mattress etc. were all of good quality. I loved the partitioning of the house. Shawn and Shelly were great hosts and responded to all our questions pretty much instantly! We will be visiting Rochester in the future on a regular basis and definitely plan to stay in this property! Thank you.

Every aspect of the house exceeded expectations. We had a 7 day stay for extended testing at Mayo and couldn’t of made it in a cramped hotel. There was plenty or room to continue working from afar plus the kitchen made the meals so much better then having to eat out for a week straight. Highly recommend!

Exceeds Expectations
The home was thoroughly enjoyable. The owner/host thought of everything to make our stay perfect. So many wonderful thoughtful amenities...like charging stations for cell phones, etc. in various locations in the house. The downstairs "den" is a dream for reclining and watching the large TV in front of the digital fireplace.

Kathy House is an Excellent long stay accommodation. Convenient to Mayo Clinic and St Mary’s Hospital.
The Hosts have thoughtfully included amenities to ensure home away from home comforts. This house has been beautifully remodeled. As a home chef, the kitchen was perfectly stocked with useful wares. Our hosts were wonderful, and great communications. During our stay, Mother Nature was not kind….snow removal was necessary and taken care of. Thank you!

Excellent stay in Rochester
We felt so fortunate to have the chance to stay in Shawn and Shelly's lovely home. We needed to have easy access to Mayo all week for our infant son's appointments, and not only was it convenient, but we looked forward to coming 'home' to relax afterward. Wonderful Home/Wonderful Hosts
We have stayed here twice and have it booked again while I am back at Mayo Clinic. It's the perfect home away for us. Very clean, well furnished, well stocked kitchen, and Shawn and Shelly are the best hosts ever! So comfortable, great inside and outside areas. Configured well for privacy and quiet when needed. Fabulous stay
We stayed for a week as our son had brain surgery at Mayo. This is one of the best VRBO’s we have stayed in. Very clean and owners were very responsive to any needs!

Perfect for Mayo Visit
Beautiful, perfectly appointed bungalow with a lovely yard and patio. Comfortable beds and great kitchen. Only a mile from Mayo, so an easy and lovely fall walk to our appointments and the grocery store. The garage will be a great asset when we return to Mayo in the winter.

A Great Option in Rochester
This was our first time booking through VRBO and it couldn't have been a better experience. The house is really well thought out and maintained, with lots of little touches that made it even better than what we were expecting based on the pictures, like outlets that also have USB ports. The owners were very easy to communicate with and seemed to genuinely want to ensure we had a good experience. For many guests, like myself, you are looking for some place to stay because of appointments at Mayo and the last thing you need is more stress. This was the perfect place to come back to rest at the end of a long day. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful stay for several weeks while at Mayo
The Kathy house is a beautifully renovated home that has everything you could need for a wonderful stay. It is a very comfortable, cozy and immaculately clean home that is very short drive to the Mayo Clinic. The kitchen is well stocked and perfect for cooking your meals. Every other room in the house has all the amenities of home. If there happens to be anything at all you may need, Shelly and Shawn respond quickly and are so helpful. They even helped to get us plowed out from 10’’ of snow the day my husband was coming home from the hospital. They truly made our stay effortless. We can’t say enough about this Vrbo! The best we have stayed at and we definitely will be back!

This is the perfect sight for visiting the Mayo Clinic. Beds are great and house is warm if visiting in winter and not used to the cold. It is clean, cozy, quiet and will stay her again. Also it was only two turns to get to the Mayo Clinic and less than 2 miles away. Fabulous location.

A Gem of a House
Everything in this Vrbo house was quality. Laundry facilities were top notch, the beds were comfortable, the towels were amazing, the kitchen was well stocked, and the house was very clean! My wife enjoyed the power recliner that helped in her recovery. Having a garage for the car was so nice! The driveway and sidewalks were scooped early every morning that it snowed. What a great 5 star experience.

Shawn and Shelley were incredible hosts! My friend and I were visiting town for a conference at Mayo and this could not have been more perfect for our stay.
The house is exactly as advertised and is a beautiful and functional property. Shawn and Shelley have gone out of their way to make this feel like a home away from home. From having a whole shelf of spices, a tray of various teas, a well stocked kitchen with every utensil/tool you could need to having nice details like robes, shampoo/ conditioner they have thought of every detail so that you can enjoy your stay.
We would highly recommend this property to anyone. Having stayed at our share of airbnb/vrbo over the years - this was by far our favourite!!

Another Great Stay!
We needed a place near Mayo for me and my family to stay while I had surgery. We had been here in April and reserved the Kathy House again as soon as my next surgery was scheduled. It is a beautiful home in a safe quiet neighborhood near trails and grocery store. Shawn and Shelley were easy to work with and very responsive to our needs. Highly recommend!

Comfort and style
This home is more beautiful than the photos! It is the best stocked kitchen I’ve encountered in many times renting homes, has very comfortable beds and pillows, well planned and decorated rooms, lovely outdoor space, and easy to contact owners. We had family members stay there while my sister was a Mayo Clinic patient and we all felt very comfortable there. Highly recommend it.
