About this house rental
Make yourself at home in our beautiful family house on a convenient residential street in Northstar. Our elegant house is perfectly located for quick access to skiing and the Village and has everything you need for a family getaway—or a two-family getaway: Two of the bedrooms have king size beds, while the third has twin beds.
The 2600 square foot house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms on two floors, plus a loft with a sleeper sofa.
Enter through the handy mud room—the perfect place to gear up for skiing—to the main level and the heart of the house. The open living room has soaring cathedral ceilings and a stunning wall of windows. Relax by the cozy gas fireplace with marble surround or chill out in front of the 60 inch flat-screen TV with cable and DVD player. The living room features ample comfortable seating, a stereo system and a grand piano.
The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped and has granite countertops, a five-burner stove, oven, dishwasher and all the cookware and tableware needed to prepare family meals. Enjoy tranquil backyard views from the large wood dining table or, in summer, head outside to grill up a storm on the gas BBQ and dine on the patio.
The spacious master suite is on the main level and boasts a king size bed and romantic gas fireplace, plus a marble bathroom with double sinks, a walk-in shower and jacuzzi tub. There’s a flat-screen TV and DVD player in the master bedroom.
The main floor also has a bathroom with a shower and a laundry room.
Upstairs you’ll find two more bedrooms. One contains a king size bed. The other is equipped with two twin beds, plus a trundle, so it could sleep up to three. The upstairs bathroom with a shower over bathtub configuration.
There are two open loft areas upstairs. One has a sleeper sofa that can accommodate two. The other is a reading nook with an easy chair and bookshelves for some downtime. The house is equipped with wifi.
Our home is conveniently located just minutes from Northstar’s Village and the ski lifts. You don’t need to drive, though: Park your cars in the two-car garage and call the free shuttle to transport you around Northstar. The Village has lots of dining options, a movie theater, skating rink and entertainment year-round.
Renters also have access to the nearby recreation center, which has an up-to-date fitness center, locker rooms with showers, saunas, three outdoor hot tubs and a lap pool, all of which are open year round. There’s an adults-only clubhouse with free wifi, a fireplace, leather couches and a library. The kids can have a blast in the game room, with a large complement of video games, air hockey, foosball and ping pong. In the summer, there’s also a large swimming pool, splash zone and toddler pool.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with the location and home being precisely what we needed. We were doing a mountain bike race at Northstar, and the home was the perfect location for walking and biking to and from the start and finish lines. The house was also convenient to Truckee, the Donner Museum and Donner Pass, Olympic Valley and other places where we spent time. (We loved the Truckee ice cream truck and Trokay Restaurant!) The house itself was clean, tidy, roomy and comfortable for our family. We enjoyed making meals in the kitchen and eating breakfast on the back patio. The house was equipped with everything we needed. We were glad to be able to park inside the garage. And we loved that we could walk out the front door and hop on multiple trails and enjoy walks and hikes around the area. Great place!

Our family (parents, son, two grandsons) came for a week in June and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Linda's home. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, and the loft area gave the kids some additional space of their own. The kitchen was large and beautiful, equipped with all the kitchen gadgets, pots, and pans you would need. The house was very clean and the beautiful windows made it bright and sunny. Access to Northstar's recreation center was wonderful as well. Linda provided detailed instructions, and was quick to respond. We would highly recommend staying in her lovely home.

Great place super close to the village, large but still cozy social spaces, large kitchen & dinner table (seats 8), the master suite is very roomy and well separated from the other bedrooms.
10/10 would stay there again.

Absolutely beautiful wood décor home with warm fireplaces. Great mountain to ski if you like lots of Blue runs, which I do - and the elevation on them isn't a black masquerading as a blue. Also a Good place to become a blue skier if you're green.. East ridge run overlooks the lake from about 5000 feet and is just gorgeous. Safeway is only a 15 minute drive at the lake or truckee, and the Dairy Queen in Truckee has the nation's best burgers and blizzards. A couple things to prepare for. Yes the shuttle works very well, but be prepared to tip the drivers. There are no ski racks on the shuttle so you have to drag your equipment inside. The resort is designed a bit funny. The shuttle bus has to stop about 800 yards from the gondola, which makes for a long hike with ski gear and ski boots. There is a ski valet at the gondola for $5 a night which is a godsend versus carrying your skis through the village. Also, I wear a cheap pair of sneakers that fold flat, so I can throw them in a backpack and use them to walk from the shuttle to the gondola. There are also bins available for shoes at the ski valet. One last note, they don't run the lift next to the gondola on weekdays, which is a shame, because you can't run the bottom of the hill at northstar unless you de-ski for the gondola. One weekends you can ski top to bottom and sit right into a lift. Great house, great location, great snow.

We were two adults and three kids (9,11,16) and stayed over spring break. Everyone had there own space and three full bathrooms were awesome. Garage parking was helpful since the car stayed there all week. We used the Northstar shuttle that picked us up at the bottom of the driveway to get to the village and the slopes everyday. Host was super helpful! Thank you so much for having us! My daughter left a thank you note in the guest book too!

Perfect cabin for our family of four. My teenagers had their own rooms plus a tv area for them to play video games. Didnt do any cooking, but kitchen seemed well stock. Just made coffee and used the microwave. Shuttle bus picked us up in front of the house. Will be back.

Perfect rental for a NorthStar Ski Vacation
The property is super close to the Village. A short few min. bus ride, or about a 12-min. walk. The driveway fits two cars comfortably, 3-4 if you park on the slope. The Garage also fits a car or two (if you must be out of the elements).
There is a covered porch & mud room to take off all of your stuff before getting in the house.
The main living room has a piano, sofas, recliners & fireplace along with TV for socializing.
The Kitchen is large (with a bathroom & laundry off to the side), with tons of counter space, fully stocked with tools, cutlery, plates, glassware, wine glasses, etc. to cook. All you need is food & beverage from a store close-by, we suggest Raley's One Market, way closer than Safeway on Donner Pass Rd.
Kitchen Table fits 8 comfortably.
The Backyard has a bench to sit on, a Weber BBQ that works great. Please note, there is a small water feature (just to the right as you exit the slider) that is hidden under the snow in winter. If your little ones are playing around, they might find themselves with some wet feet LoL, don't ask me how I know ;-)
The Master suite is very large & spacious, with a remote-control auto-temp fireplace. The bathroom is huge & you can close the door of & have both privacy & quiet from the rest of the house.
Upstairs there is another bathroom - a kid’s room, with two singles & a pull-out trundle.
Then there is another larger room with a King adjacent to the kid’s room.
The top floor is finished off with a loft, with L-Shape, sofa bed? & a small TV to keep the kids busy & another sleeping option.
There is a reading area at the other end, to catch up on a good book.
The owner was awesome, communicates well, well organized, gives you plenty of information & instructions, also including a folder at the house for easy reference.
Also, there is a Rec center for kids & adults up off of the NorthStar village. There are hot Jacuzzis operating in the winter, a pool (closed in the winter), Gym, playground, game room with at least 4 free games (table tennis, air hockey etc.) & 4 paid games (car racing, Pac man etc.), some prize pull machines & a bill to coin machine for the arcades.
Dining options are available in the NorthStar village (a short bus trip), there is a Starbucks up there too. There are also some good restaurants nearby (10+ min.) via car.
We had a blast, the house worked out perfectly!

Perfect ski weekend
Linda’s property was just as advertised!
The house was clean, spacious with a well stocked kitchen with any supply or gadget you might need! Close to Northstar village and taking the shuttle was so easy! Our family of four and close friends had a fabulous time! One special gem I particularly liked was the little stove in the primary bedroom….so cozy!
Thank you!!

Wonderful cabin for a ski trip
We had a great time staying at this property. The cabin was very roomy for 6 adults and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, and cooking utensils. We loved the convenience to North Star , the on demand shuttle was usually very fast and not having to deal with parking is a plus. Would love to visit again in the future!

Wonderful house
Our family had a great stay and ski week. The house is roomy, cozy,, conveniently located near the slopes and very amply equipped. Linda is wonderfully and quickly responsive to questions and concerns. The snowplow took care of the driveway when needed so we could head out between snowstorms and she tried super diligently to address a home repair issue (not easy just before Christmas in the heavy snow). Highly recommend her beautiful home.

Perfect for family getaway
Property was exactly as advertised. It was clean upon arrival and had everything we needed for a gathering of our 3 generation family. The kitchen was well equipped and the younger grandkids loved the toys they found in the living room. WiFi worked great for the one adult that couldn’t get away from work for the week. Owner was very responsive. We’d come back again with no hesitation.

The shuttle to the village at Northstar is easy to use and really fast, giving us extra time to spend on the slopes!

Good place to stay near Northstar.
Spacious house with a grand piano. Kid’s love the snow outdoor. Check-in was easy. Linda was very helpful, accommodating and quick with our questions and queries. Though it was March we saw some fresh snow.. Overall a great stay.

Good stay with some caveats.
We stayed at this property for 5 nights in March for a ski trip with our family including our 3 year old granddaughter. The location was good and we generally enjoyed the house. The cathedral windows were great as was the general layout with the master on the main level and the two bedrooms upstairs for our son and his family. The kitchen is large and well stocked and the master bedroom and bathroom were spacious also. Unfortunately, about 3 hours prior to our arrival the property owner informed us that she had just found out that the clothes dryer was broken. When we arrived we also found that the gas fireplace in the living room would not light. The owner arranged for a repairman to come the next day but he was unable to fix either problem. The owner purchased a part for the dryer but it was not able to be installed until the last day of our stay. Of note, the driveway is short and steep which can be a problem when it snows. During our stay it snowed 10-12 inches. The promised ploughing service never materialized and we shoveled the driveway ourselves and backed down carefully. The owner never offered any compensation for our inconvenience with the above items.

I share the sentiment of many of the other reviews in that leaving one might work against me in securing this place for future stays, but Linda and her gorgeous home deserve a raving review! My family cannot say enough good things about our stay here. We escaped the city to spend an intimate Thanksgiving in the snow and we couldn't have asked for a more comfortable stay. First off, Linda was amazing to work with from the start, answering any questions prior to booking about the area and easing concerns about COVID-19 protocols and safety. She is responsive and thorough, and as a bit of a planner myself, I very much appreciated that. Directions for check-in, checkout and navigating the home and area's amenities were detailed and easy to follow. The home is stunning. So many areas to enjoy as a family or retreat for some privacy. My older parents loved the master bedroom, complete with fireplace, jetted soaking tub, and large windows to enjoy the outdoor scenery. The kitchen and living areas are comfortable and quintessential spaces for a cozy winter getaway - my mother wouldn't let us leave without trying to capture our next Christmas card in front of those chapel windows. The location is prime, with areas for snow play at a walkable distance and Northstar Village just a minute down the road. While we didn't take advantage of the more social amenities (of which there are many) to practice safety, we had no problem enjoying the comfort of this gorgeous cabin day in and day out, which made it the perfect "quarantine" getaway for our family. Can't wait to return!

Charm and Ease
We stayed at this property over our February break. We are a family of five with kids 2, 13 and 16 so we had some unique needs for a property. Most notably separation :) We arrived on the evening as planned and check-in was a piece of cake. Linda was great in making recommendations based on where we were flying in and shopping to get prepared for the week. She wisely told us to shop in Reno as a Sunday night often has the local Truckee stores picked over. All the details to the house were easy to find and Linda was great in pointing out any tips or idiosyncrasies that we might have needed to know. The proximity to the mountain is literally a three minute drive and shuttle service is easy (although you should allot some waiting time). The house was immaculate. Everything was in working order. If we had one complaint it might be figuring out light switches but I still don't know what all the light switches are at my own house. I'm sure there are other properties with more modern amenities but one thing that's nice is when you're somewhere that doesn't feel so much like a house and feels more like a home that has stories and love. This home was a quintessential ski home to my family and me and we were as relaxed as could be for our 5-day stay. We highly recommend this property and we hope to come back (when there's better snow)!

Definitely a great stay!
We spent a fantastic 5 days over Christmas at this wonderful home. No unexpected surprises...everything was as described. Linda, the owner, was extremely responsive and professional with some questions that popped up during our stay, and there's a very thorough and detailed info folder at the house. Perfect location for North Star skiing. No hassle with parking as there is a super convenient, on demand free shuttle that picks up and drops off to and from the doorsteps of the house. The house is well stocked with kitchen supplies and games, and plenty of tv's for everyone. Just be sure to bring your own shower products (soap/body wash, shampoo), extra toilet paper. Definitely a fun stay!

great house, great location!
This house was our magical stay for labor day weekend. We could not have asked for anything more. The house was clean, the house was in a great location, the house had everything we needed. We had no problems at all when we were there. The owner was very accommodating and quick to respond to my messages. House was plenty big enough for 7 adults and 1 child but still felt like we were all together. The fireplace was a nice touch especially at night. The outside area was small but great to have dinner and there is a small pond there that added to the charm of this place. We would definitely would return.

Great Home but questionable management
I want to give this 5 stars but the reality is the management of the home could be a lot better. We weren't able to get into the home late at night and were stuck outside in the cold with no response from the manager. She finally got back to us with a text message after a while but wasn't very helpful.
Overall the management could have been improved with some courtesy and transparency regarding our deposit. The guest book stated that we would get a credit if we did a load of laundry before we left but I didn't hear if we ever got this or not.
We noticed the cabinets had a lot of expired products which should have been thrown away so be careful.
Be careful when you pay on the platform with PayPal because the PayPal fees will be passed on to you (no choice on this). So you not only pay the rental amount but pay an additional fee on top of that.
Overall the house is great and the location is great - very close to Northstar. I hope the management of this improves for future renters as its a great spot to stay.
