Nestled into the hillside of the picturesque Cych Valley, it enjoys commanding views over wooded valley and beyond to the rolling Pembrokeshire countryside. This traditional Welsh slate cottage was left unoccupied for nearly 40 years and has been sensitively renovated by its current owner, retaining every inch of character. The cottage was also renovated using natural materials and with sustainability in mind, using lime, mineral paints, wood, stone and reclaimed materials. 2 Penrhiw is perched within the idyllic hamlet of Abercych, bordering Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, and is an ideal touring location. A short stroll and you can be enjoying many beautiful hill and river walks, discovering the vast array of wildlife and finishing off with some home cooked food in the nearby pub, where they pride themselves on locally sourced, fresh ingredients and local ales for you to sample.
2 Penrhiw is one of three terraced cottages and adjoins the owner’s home. As you walk in through the door, you will step back in time to see a real traditional cottage that has been meticulously restored throughout and lovingly finished, with original quarry tiles throughout the ground floor. The main living room, or cegin fawr in Welsh, is complete with a large inglenook fireplace with wood burner and exposed beams. You may prefer to retire to the sitting room, with additional wood burner, which is ideal for cosy evenings in. The kitchen with Welsh slate worktops and a Belfast sink, offers sublime views across the valley whilst you are washing up.
This cottage offers the perfect base from which to explore this picture postcard area. A short drive away you can relax beside the river in the hamlet of Cenarth, complete with magnificent waterfalls, famed for the salmon leaping up through the rapids, a wonderful sight. The property is conveniently located centrally between the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion borders, where guests can explore the dramatic coastlines and discover the pretty coastal towns of Newport, Cardigan and Aberporth. All offer a collection of seafood restaurants, boutique gift shops and unblemished beaches, where dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day! Beach 10 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub 20 yards and restaurant 35 yards.
