We had a lovely time staying here, it’s in a lovely location and the cottage is gorgeous however we would not book again for the following reason. We booked this cottage because it said it had a ground floor wet room and my husband is in a wheelchair so we thought it would be perfect. Unfortunately it didn’t mention everything else was on a lower level so it made things a bit harder to get him to that lower level as the pathway is very steep for a wheelchair & there are steep steps to get inside all doors. Please mention that it’s not suitable for a wheelchair user but it’s good for someone who can walk but needs a wet room.

We were so looking forward to getting away, and we were not disappointed.
We were so looking forward to getting away, and we were not disappointed. Stockham Lodge is excellent, the bedrooms are generous with good ensuite facilities. Nigel and Janet the owners are delightful and we were welcomed with home made scones, cream and a bottle of wine! We had a German Shepherd with us and she enjoyed long walks into the woods and along the many paths.
We would certainly return. The only downside was that the accessible room on the ground floor although there is a door from the path outside, the internal access was via a two sets of steps. It was ok for our friend as she can stand and pull herself up but a fully disabled guest would have a problem - but it was a minor issue for us and everything else made up for it!

This is an outstanding property.
This is an outstanding property. The owners are delightful and helpful without being intrusive at all. The quality of the bedding was superb, often this is a touch often forgotten, but the attention to detail was spot on. The accommodation is fabulous with 4 en-suite bedrooms and all huge.
If you want peace and tranquility look no further.

Lovely property in a stunning location - the owners were extremely welcoming - there was a cream tea and prosecco waiting for us!
There were a few issues in the house which the owner dealt with straight away. The shower doors in one bedroom seem a bit rickety and it was very cold in there as the radiator wasn't working properly. The door from the lounge into the garden is extremely difficult to open so could use some adjustment. Also in the property description says TV in every bedroom. However there was no TV in one bedroom, and all the others were not normal TVs, they didn't work as no aerial, you could only play DVDs in them. So perhaps change this description as we were expecting our two elderly visitors and children to be able to watch some TV in their rooms at times. There was a TV in one living room but with a large party it is useful to have more than one.
Aside from this I would highly recommend the property. It really is such a beautiful spot, so peaceful and very safe for our dogs to play in the garden. Very well equipped with a good size living room and dining room for a large group.

We are a group of 10 friends in our 30s (ish!) who go away for a weekend every Spring.
We are a group of 10 friends in our 30s (ish!) who go away for a weekend every Spring. We always go to a property in the South West and this is one of the best properties we have ever stayed in! The house was cosy & comfortable - the perfect size for us.
Although the kitchen is relatively small for the size of the property, it's very well equipped and the dining room had plenty of space to manoeuvre.
The views over the rolling Devon hills are super relaxing, as are the hot tub and sauna.
The internet connection is pretty rubbish - but we don't go on a rural holiday to use the internet! Nigel also warned us in advance that this was the case. The Sky box and TV meant that we could enjoy the 6 Nations Rugby and that's all that we needed :)
The underfloor heating was an absolute treat in a chilly March, the showers & bathrooms all clean, and the beds comfortable.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
