About this cottage rental
Up to four can enjoy this quiet amenity-rich, centrally located home with a back yard laden with ivy-covered trees. Historic Sunday House, quiet but conveniently located to the town's attractions within walking distance. Well-equipped kitchen for cooking needs as well as an outdoor barbecue grill. Secluded back yard includes an outdoor fireplace with comfortable Adirondack chairs for relaxing lounging. High-speed wifi internet provided, along with cable TV. Decorated in a sophisticated style reminiscent of Architectural Digest.
Flagstone Sunday House was built around 1900. The German Emigration Company issued lot number 369 to Maria Elisa Dattner in the latter part of 1846. The house was completely restored and decorated for use as a bed and breakfast cottage in 2011. While respecting all of the historical importance of the house, no stone has been left unturned when it comes to providing guests with all the touches today's travelers enjoy.
You will appreciate the smart style and attention to detail as soon as you open the front door The front room, an enclosed sleeping porch, offers two built-in twin beds, perfect for turning a trip for two into a getaway for three or four! Next you enter the gracious den which boasts sophisticated style reminiscent of Architectural Digest! Above the drawing table you will find a unique touch…the white guest board, a large framed artist's message board for you to share a drawing, a kind word, a poem or just a passing thought with the owners and future guests. What a fun touch, particularly since the owner is an artist!
The downstairs also offers a full kitchen and dining area, plus a bathroom with a charming tiled shower. Upstairs is the main king-sized bedroom, clothed in a soothing white color scheme. The bathroom for this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs. (Keep in mind that part of this home's charm is its multi-level design…BUT that does mean authentic, slightly narrow stairs. Only reserve this cottage if you are comfortable with stairs.)
As fabulous as all this is, the thing that will bring you back time and time again to Flagstone Sunday House may be the amazing back yard. Off the dining room, you will find a large deck with sitting areas and a sweeping staircase leading down to the ivy-covered lawn. Relax in the cool weather with our limestone fireplace. Take a little time from life's cares to walk among the branches, watch the birds, and put your feet up for a bit With all these great amenities plus an excellent location just one block from Main Street and 3-4 blocks to the heart of shopping, Flagstone Sunday House is a treasured retreat!

Absolutely perfect location to explore Fredericksburg. Our host Amelia, was incredibly kind and made sure everything was perfect for us. We highly recommend this property.

My adult daughter and I had a great stay! Great location—quiet and far enough away from the fray, yet close walking distance. Great living room lounge chairs, comfortable beds and Champagne and orange juice! What a plus! (and I have to mention the cracker jacks-a trip down memory lane.) Amelia was very responsive to my texts!! Will stay again!

Had a fantastic time! House was very clean, all linens and kitchen equipment are very high-quality. House is very unique and very charming. Exactly what you would want in a Sunday house in Fredericksburg.
Backyard is all Flagstone with an outdoor fireplace, great space for enjoying a glass of wine! We will definitely look to stay there again.

However, stairs required to get to and from master bedroom would prevent another stay.

The Sunday Haus was perfect for a weekend get away. Great location just a block off Main Street. The house is on the far end of main but is still walkable to all the main areas.

This home was in the perfect location for us - close enough to walk to many restaurants, shopping, and Oktoberfest, but far enough away to be quiet. The outdoor space at this home is lovely, spacious, and quiet! The hosts even provided little extras for this celebratory weekend! We would highly recommend it!

I know you hear about hidden gems. Well, this is one! This VRBO was the extreme of pleasures, and the VRBO owners were absolutely wonderful! Everything you could’ve asked for was there and more.
We were so comfortable that we didn’t want to go anywhere. We just stayed there and relaxed. Fredericksburg is a wonderful city, but we have been there before but never overnight. You are within walking distance of shops and restaurants, plenty to do.

She thinks of everything! It’s the small touches like great soaps/shampoos/lotions, along with bug spray, champagne and orange juice in the fridge. Such a charming property!

This is the best VRBO experience I have ever had. The hosts anticipated every need: bug repellent, starter log for outdoor fireplace, variety of creamers for coffee/tea in the fridge, snacks, extra bed linens, I could go on and on….. perfection…. loved staying here! .

House was wonderful and walking distance to shopping/restaurants. King size bed upstairs, two twin beds in front room. Make sure you’re ok with navigating stairs, some are narrow/steep. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was great from the moment of booking til the end of our our stay! Amelia’s thoughtfulness to make a girl feel special on her birthday was above and beyond! The house was so charming and every little detail to make us comfortable was in place. We would definitely stay there again.

Everything was great. The one hitch I would say is the second sleeping area isn’t really a bedroom. There is no door for privacy & nowhere to put clothes/suitcases. We stayed with brother & sister in law so wasn’t a big deal but might have been uncomfortable for 2 couples who weren’t family

The house was so cute, very clean, fully stocked with all necessities and the beds were so comfortable. The backyard was amazing. The fireplace out back was a great perk that provided a very relaxing spot for a nightcap. I saw a deer by the back fence the morning I left… so neat!

This little German Summer House was ABOVE our expectations!!! It was so quaint and comfortable. The beds were better than home and the outdoor space was so inviting, private and peaceful!! The beautiful art throughout made our stay even more enjoyable. It was EXACTLY what we wanted. We will definitely be returning.

Mama’s Wine Weekend
We had the most wonderful mamma’s getaway and couldn’t have been more pleased! Amelia truly has created the most cozy and welcoming home. She has thought of everything! Just one block away from Main Street, we were able to walk back and forth as much as we needed, feeling very safe and comfortable in our group of 4 (even quite late at night). We are already planning to make this an annual weekend trip and would LOVE to stay at Amelia’s Sunday house again!

Would come back! Loved our stay here.
We had a wonderful stay at The Sunday House. House was stocked with necessities in bathroom and kitchen and owner went the extra mile to provide champagne, juice, and snacks. The backyard is beautiful and a great place to hang out. Only feedback is the property pictures are hard to decipher what the other bedroom is besides the loft with king bed bedroom. I would make it clear that the other bedroom is two twin beds in the front of the home in more of a sunroom. Very cute the way the owner set it up but light does come in early because that room is surrounded by windows. Overall, I would stay here again!

Perfect for a relaxing stay
This Sunday house is so peaceful. Sitting in a side street just off Main street all you hear are the birds and the quiet church bells keeping time.
Even in the 95+ degree heat outside the home is cool and just perfect for stretching out, reading a book and chilling.
Well stocked kitchen, great linens throughout, and wonderful back porch and backyard space.
Will definitely try to stay here whenever I come to Fredericksburg.

I was not able to stay, but communication and friendliness was wonderful at every step of the way. Amelia was wonderful to communicate with.

Interesting
Beautiful place. It does not not have 2 bedrooms though. This was a problem but we overcame it. I also banged my head 6 times. I'm only 5'9". Twice in the shower, twice on the upper bedroom ceiling(my wife even banged her head here and she is only 5'3") and twice on the door way from the landing to the first floor. I hit my head on the doorway so hard my teeth came together and knock off my veneer. I had to go to the dentist when I got back home. The place was really great but we would not go back because of the low ceiling and door way. The owner was very nice and accomodating though.
