About this cottage rental
Located in the heart of Bretforton, just across from the village green, next door to Bretforton Village School's playing field, within sight of St. Leonard's Church and a stone's throw from the National Trust-owned Fleece Inn, Old Fox Cottage will capture your heart even before you go in. The Tiffany-blue front door, with its foxy door knocker, peeping out from under the immaculate thatched roof, sets the tone for your stay here. It is a delightful property.
The owners, Adam and Lois, have worked tirelessly to produce a look and feel that is tasteful and luxurious throughout the cottage. With its peaceful blues, calm creams and woodland themes, you'll feel particularly warm, cosy and cosseted here. The attention to detail is fantastic, with every mod con anticipated and provided. Shut the front door and all the worries of the world melt away.
What makes this cottage additionally attractive is the village of Bretforton itself, which is a friendly, welcoming place best demonstrated by its community shop, stocked with essential items and tasty goodies. Similarly, the Fleece Inn is a warm and friendly place with an impressive calendar of events and activities to enjoy while sampling their hearty menu and fine wines and beers. Even if you never venture further than Bretforton, you'll have a great stay.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall:
Enter through the partially glazed front door straight into the light-filled Entrance Hall, which combines as a snug vestibule (great for sinking into the comfy armchairs while pulling off boots and coats) and practical room with a cupboard for coats and wellies and a helpful umbrella stand. With its wooden floor, cream tongue-and-groove panelling and original beams, the Entrance Hall offers a warm welcome.
The Living Room:
The Tiffany blue and cream theme continues into this lovely room, tastefully furnished with two sumptuous armchairs and a large double sofa. The most striking feature in here is the inglenook fireplace with original beam work. Within the fireplace is a wood-effect electric burner. The Living Room is all ready for a cosy night in, where you can enjoy the large, flat-screen digital TV with Blu Ray DVD player and a wealth of films. Alternatively, there's a Wii console with games if you're feeling more energetic. An Emma Bridgwater DAB radio with iPod docking station on the dresser is set up for playing your own playlist or a podcast.
The Kitchen:
The beautiful and immaculate country-cottage kitchen has been carefully designed so that every appliance you'll need for your stay is there, but cleverly hidden away to provide everything you need in a small space; the only obvious appliance is the gas hob with built-in oven and extractor hood above. However, an integral slimline Hotpoint dishwasher and an integral fridge can be found beside the cooker, whilst behind an ingenious bifold cupboard you'll find the bread bin, Kenwood microwave, and Dualit toaster and kettle. The wall units house everything you'll need to cater for your group. There's also an iron under the large ceramic sink and a high chair, picnic basket and vacuum in the under-stair cupboard.
Utility/Laundry Room:
A compact space where you'll find the Hotpoint combined washing machine/dryer, a small library of books, rechargeable tea light candles, and storage cupboards housing cleaning materials and the boiler.
Family Bathroom:
As with the rest of the cottage, this room is impeccably and tastefully appointed with a limestone floor and travertine wall tiles. Relax and soak away stresses in the large roll top bath that sits under the small private window overlooking the side path. Or enjoy a rainfall shower in the separate elevated double-shower enclosure. The bathroom is thoughtfully stocked with all the shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath you could need - so don't weigh your luggage down with those heavy items.
Conservatory:
Streaming with bright light (even on an overcast day), the heated Dining Conservatory is a great living space: by day it's an extra living and eating space where you'll sit to enjoy your breakfasts and lunches and access the patio garden and BBQ outside. By night, it can be transformed into an intimate dinning space with shimmering lighting.
First Floor
Bedroom One:
The oldest part of the cottage, the master double bedroom has a cosy yet luxurious feel, tucked under the beams and eaves. From the iron-frame king-size bedstead, you can enjoy private views through the traditional cottage windows. The cushioned window seat is a wonderful place to sit and while away some relaxation time.
The bedroom has a lovely full-length cheval mirror, a deep clothes closet, a hairdryer, and a digital flat-screen TV for bedtime viewing.
Bedroom Two:
A delightful room with two large, single beds, fluffy bed linen with bed throws, original beams, and a window overlooking a flat roof to the patio beyond. Ideal for children, this room would also suit two adults because of its L-shaped layout, providing individual privacy in a shared space.
Outside
The area to the rear of the cottage has been laid to patio and is reached either through the side gate and path or through the back door from the Dining Conservatory. In this clever us of space you'll find a lovely, ivy-walled sun trap. The main patio area is up two stone steps where there's a large ‘Outback' gas BBQ, a rattan-style patio table with four matching chairs to one side, and two rattan-style sofas with an all-weather coffee table on the other.
For a property in the heart of a village, this outside space is marvellously private being surrounded by high walls. (Note: one small window overlooks the area to one side but seems rarely unused.)

Simple booking process from beginning to end with excellent communication and instructions. The property was spectacular and perfectly met our needs. Everything was immaculately clean with all the necessary kitchen items and some thoughtful treats and basics as well. The garden and conservatory were idyllic as was the village.
We were positively spoiled by the food and service at The Fleece Inn just footsteps from the front door of the cottage. This property is a perfect blend of modern conveniences with old world charm and was a great jumping off point for exploring the Cotswolds. We had fabulous day trips around the area and were always happy to come home to such a welcoming cottage in the evening. Would absolutely book this property again without hesitation.

This is a great cottage in a fantastic little town. We really enjoyed our time there. Everything was as advertised - no surprises, and owner was extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic stay at Old Fox Cottage. The bed and bedding were super comfy. Parking was easy and pub was amazing. The shower was brilliant, the heating was quick/responsive. Nice touch that cake/milk/butter/bread were left for us on arrival too!

As you can see by your records we have stayed at Old Fox many many times over the last few years. Always lovely, well equipped. A little however... as we know the cottage well......it really is at the point now where it needs a really good deep clean . The skirting boards are quite dirty, the bathroom in particular and behind the toilet. The upholstery on the chairs in the sitting room is very stained and needs professional cleaning,as do the carpets, spillage stains on the rugs in the ,living room and conservatory. Needs a good hover round all the edges of all the rooms.
The bed is very very comfortable...but it has had the same valance sheet in all the times we have stayed....does question if it has ever been washed?..
The sun came out during our stay, the windows obviously haven't been cleaned for some time, worst ones are at the front of the cottage.
Lovely to have a dish washer in the kitchen...but during our weeks stay which is usual..why only 5 dish wash tablets provided...very strange...good job we eat out every day..so we do very little washing up.
Would I stay again..of course...

We love the cottage, it’s like a home from home and very comfortable. This was our second visit in six months so that probably says it all! Thanks so much for a lovely stay in a gorgeous cottage with friendly villagers and a great pub within 50 steps! We will be back again!

Brilliant stay at a great location!
We booked Fox Cottage last minute (on the day of arrival) and felt very fortunate to have our booking accepted. This didn't take away from how clean and tidy the place was with a few essentials (including cake) here for us on arrival.
We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Cotswolds and where better to stay than a quintessential cottage such as this.
Very thoughtful touches with tasteful decoration it made the ideal spot for a proposal ... She said YES!
Would love to come back again and relive the special memories that we made here.

A perfect home-away-from-home
Old Fox Cottage is one of our favourite family getaway destinations. We have visited multiple times with our two boys and would not hesitate to recommend the cottage for short or long stays. Adam and Lois are the perfect hosts, outfitting the cottage with all the amenities needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The village is charming and everything is a short walk away, including The Fleece Inn and the Bretforton Community Shop. We cannot wait to visit again!

A cosy cottage with lots of character in a pretty Cotswold village
We had a lovely week in this very attractive and comfortable cottage. It is in a great location, as we were able to venture into Warwickshire and Oxfordshire as well as the Cotswolds. We had some delicious meals in the very atmospheric NT pub over the road.

A magical cottage
We have stayed in many cottages but Old Fox cottage is number one on our list! It’s a home from home in a lovely village. It was great to have the pub and community shop so close by too. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay
We had a short break in September, and the cottage was beautiful and cosy and is exactly as seen in the photos. It is incredibly well equipped for any length of stay and there has been a lot of thought put into its restoration. Bretforton is a small village and is an ideal quiet base from which to explore the Cotswolds, and I’d recommend the Fleece Inn for beer and dinner! We will be back!

Lovely cottage!
Old Fox Cottage is lovely! The conservatory is great to eat in. Well stocked with Blurays etc. The highest mattress I have ever slept on, but very comfortable! Lots of toiletries provided. Only thing I needed that wasn't available was a serving spoon. Handy for the Fleece Inn. Didn't get the weather for sitting in the garden or for a BBQ.

Unique little stay
Lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting with all the little touches. This property was very well equipped. It is a little tired in places and some of the furnishings are well loved shall we say, I found the single mattresses are not the most comfortable for an adult. My children loved playing with the large selection of games and it’s lovely to sit in the conservatory for a meal on a sunny evening.

The cottage is set in the beautiful village of Bretforton close to the breathtaking surrounding villages and landmarks in the Cotswolds.
We will definitely stay here again.

A beautifully decorated wonderful home from home
I had read the fantastic reviews and so was confident that we would have a great time at Old Fox Cottage but the reality greatly surpassed my expectations! The cottage itself is absolutely stunning and the decor is marvellous! My children loved spotting all the little touches everywhere especially all the foxes!
We had everything we needed from bath bubbles for the kids to cake bread and milk for us which was just such a wonderful touch. I would re book in a heartbeat. Thanks you for a fabulous stay the only thing is I wish it had been longer!

Beautiful thatched cottage in Cotswold countryside
Old Fox cottage is a beautiful, character full building, like stepping back in time whilst still feeling modern and up to date. Tastefully decorated yet packed full of period features, and all the amenities that could be required, maybe though bring a fan if it's hot. The cottage is set in lovely little picture box village of Bretforton in the Cotswolds surrounded by history, with the National Trust Fleece Inn pub literally a stones throw from your door. A wonderful base to visit much of what this beautiful part of the country has to offer, with many lovely places within a few miles. Great hosts, a beautiful place to stay and so much to enjoy. We had a wonderful break and would definitely recommend to all.

Fox cottage
Lovely stay at a beautiful cottage. Lovely decor with some beautiful touches. Great little village with a lovely pub. Perfect location with some lovely villages. Had a problem with electrics and hot water. Called the owners they came out next day and sorted the problem. Enjoyed our 3 night stay, after a sad year was a great tonic,

Best place to expend some days in the Cotswolds
We can not thank enough to Adam and Lois for making our stay at the Old Fox Cottage such a lovely and memorable experience. They are without any doubt the best hosts ever!
The cottage is super beautiful and very tastefully decorated, it is full of lovely touches, generously supplied and spotlessly clean. We felt like at home from the very first minute, to the point that we decided to extend our holidays for another week!!!!
We absolutely recommend the Old Fox Cottage, our stay there was like a dream come true!!

A secret gem.....
Old Fox Cottage was just what my little family of three needed after a crazy few months in 2020. The cottage is everything it looks from the online pictures and more; cozy, welcoming, spotless & well equipped. The location was perfect for exploring this beautiful part of the country and I agree with an earlier review that it was tempting to not give feedback and keep this little cottage a well kept secret! Thank you to the owners for giving such thought and care and sharing their little gem with others.

A wonderful weekend
We absolutely loved our stay at Old Fox Hall Cottage. It’s in a beautiful spot and the cottage itself is just perfect. Really well equipped and beautifully furnished with great attention to detail. The garden is a lovely sun trap for a g&t in the sunshine! Proximity to the pub is also worth a mention, pizzas are the best!

Amazing quarantine at the Old fox Cottage
We stayed in Bretforton for two weeks, since we had to quarantine after entering the UK. We didn't get bored at all, we cooked a lot in the nice kitchen, we enjoyed playing Wii, doing some puzzles that they had there. We also read some of the book that they had in the cottage, and enjoyed the BBQ outside. The cottage was so clean, so confortable, they even had some robes for us. The location of course is amazing, a few step from the Fleece Inn, and from many public footpaths that bring you through the fields around Bretforton. We had an amazing stay at the Old fox Cottage and would stay there again with no hesitation. Also it was really easy to find a parking spot after getting groceries. And the little community shop in the village was providing every essentials.

What a find....
Almost not wanting to write a review....as this cottage is probably the best we have stayed in. Not sure if I want to share!! We visit the Cotswolds at least twice a year and always stay in a different cottage as they are not quite perfect. Either tired, damp, dirty, uncomfortable cheap bed..I could go on. On opening the front door of Old Fox Cottage, we were met with a lovely fresh smell of a very well kept cottage, everything clean and neat and even a welcome hamper. Loads of space ,seperate eating area and a great bathroom the icing on the cake a truly comfortable bed!!.Thank you for a great break and we will be visiting again.

One of the best places we have stayed in the Cotswolds
We loved everything about Old Fox Cottage- clean, full of character and attention to detail. The beds were really comfortable and the whole house is a delight. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quiet spot to take a break and so close to The Fleece Inn which is full of character and amazing food. We will definitely be back.

Superb!
A lovely, well equipped and extremely comfortable cottage. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. Great location for exploring with The wonderful Fleece Inn a few paces away. Very generous Welcome boxes and a lovely bottle of Champagne sent to us for New Years Eve. Adam was great to communicate with and very helpful. Only downside would be there isn’t any Netflix as advertised. Would definitely return.

Lovely in every way
We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay during our visit over Christmas to see family. The location was perfect and the attention to detail within the cottage was astounding. We never expected full Christmas decorations (even a tree!) but it made the holiday feel more like home as a result. The little touches were amazing, from provisions for a full English breakfast, a scrumptious tea cake, and of course a bottle of bubbly! Already looking forward to our next stay... perhaps in the summer so we can enjoy the cute garden. Thanks so much!

Delightful thatched cottage
We had the pleasure of staying in Old Fox Cottage while visiting the UK for my nieces wedding and highly recommend it, we will definitely stay there again on our next trip home. The cottage is beautifully furnished and well equipped with everything you need. The National Trust Fleece Inn is a few steps away if you don't feel like cooking and its only a short drive to beautiful North Cotswold villages like Broadway and Chipping Campden.

Was Perfect!
Cottage was lovely. Thank you for the beautiful stay.
No negatives, other than we were a little unprepared that there wasnt a supply of toilet paper or dishwasher pods for our stay - just wasn't expecting it.
Would have been nice to have a couple more smaller serving bowls in kitchen. Just helpful comments for future. We made do no problem!
