About this cottage rental
Cute efficiency 1-bath lakefront cottage with several interior upgrades (new, larger shower unit) on beautiful Lake Champlain in Bridport, VT. Bridport is located in the heart of the Lake Champlain Valley near Middlebury, (11miles) about half way between Burlington and Rutland. Cedar sits perched directly on the lake on a dead-end road with no through traffic so is very private. Enjoy the spacious deck, accessed by a wooden walkway with cleats and hand rail, that sits 16’ above the lake providing spectacular views of Champlain and the Adirondack mountains. This small and cozy cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or a terrific base for road biking in season with routes directly from the cottage through the rolling hills, corn fields and farmland of one of the most beautiful areas in the Lake Champlain Valley, which many feel rivals the beauty of Tuscany. In the summer months enjoy farmer's markets in nearly every nearby town, (the kitchen has everything you need to create a gourmet meal). In the fall, join the leaf peepers for a spectacular display. In winter, Middlebury College runs both a nordic ski center and the Middlebury Snowbowl with downhill trails. Other major ski areas (Sugarbush, Mad River and Killington) are approximately an hour drive. The charming towns of Bristol (14 miles) and Middlebury (11 miles) both have excellent restaurant, bakery and pub options. In all seasons you might enjoy exploring the abundance of craft breweries in this area of Vermont as many of our guests seem to have done! This quiet location, some have discovered, is a writer's paradise.
Full kitchen, WiFi, bath with shower, flat screen TV, queen bed, and extra futon. Outside propane grill, screened-in porch attached to camp, and additional large deck down the wooden walkway, which overlooks the lake and includes plenty of outdoor seating. There is also a campfire ring by the camp for toasting s'mores (wood can be purchased locally by the bundle).
Boating, Bass and Perch Fishing is terrific. Bikes , row boat and tandem kayak in are available for your use! There is swimming out away from the beach (we get in off the rowboat). There can be weeds on the shoreline in summer so it is not great swimming for children. Best for 2 adults who want a quiet getaway with beautiful views, boating, fishing, biking and exploring.
Local activities include biking, hiking, fishing, boating, sailing, antiquing, golfing or visiting many historic places in VT , Adirondacks of New York and the great breweries nearby. Middlebury College has a terrific Museum of Art. For activities including music venues on Lake Champlain & near Middlebury, use "learn more" links at top of regional pages or look online.
Regarding pets: I love dogs and enjoy being able to offer pet friendly accommodations. In order for this policy to continue I ask that you adhere to several house rules. Your dog or dogs may not wander beyond the property without your watchful eyes present. You must clean up immediately after your dog. You are welcome to toss your pup's waste into the woods, but please be advised my neighbors do not wish to step in dog doo...ever! I assume your pet will be free of fleas! If your pup is a shedder, I request that you please sweep up and vacuum before you leave. I have provided additional bags for you to vacuum freely. Thank you for your cooperation so that everyone going forward can continue to bring their beloved pets on vacation with them.

The cottage is comfortable, cool (strong A/C) and private, well-suite for a couple. The Internet works well but TV channel availability is mediocre at best. Platform overlooking Lake Champlain is a big plus particularly for relaxing and reading a book or having a drink. Gas grille is easy to use, particularly useful given that the kitchen lacks a standard oven. The owner provides a double kayak that can be launched from the private beach, along with life jackets and paddles. (We didn't swim but others nearby took advantage of the cool water.) Nearby roads are not particularly suitable for cycling if you are planning on more than a few miles; the roads are hilly with frequent blind curves and there are usually no paved shoulders. It's 25-minute drive to Middlebury, a picturesque college and former mill town town with a handful of good restaurants, a well-stocked Hannaford super market and historic attractions.

Lakeside location was amazing! The deck is nice place to enjoy some coffee or a drink. The house is stocked with lots of fun activities like books/dvds/games. Overall great place for a cozy getaway! The space is on the smaller side so good for two people or three at most.

This was a great property right on Lake Champlain. It was quiet, remote, and a perfect cozy size for me. I love the location as my son has a farm in Bridgeport. I like sitting on the deck out on Lake Champlain. Great space. Small and quaint. Everything you need.

Place was cozy and quaint. Perfect for three. Perfect for visiting Middleberry. If you’re a parent there, for example, for parents weekend.

The cabin exceeded expectations in accommodations (hot water, washer, clean shower and kitchen). The host even reached out a day early and offered us early check in and late checkout free of charge. Perfect little space for our couple’s weekend away with a beautiful view right out the back door!

Outdoor space just stunning. Loved the boats, swimming and monster sized deck! Sunsets are beautiful! Very quiet spot nestled in trees. Farmland all around make for fun cruising. R and R was exactly what we yearned for. Would not recommend sleeping more than 2 comfortably.

We enjoyed our stay at this little cottage. Perfect for one or two people, it would be a tight fit for more than that. Our dog enjoyed exploring the yard. Nice access to the lake down stairs to a platform with chairs. Close to Crown Point, Fort Ticonderoga, and state parks. Neighbors are close by but with a fence in between and we had no issues. Good communications with the host. Thanks for the hospitality!

My husband and I enjoyed staying at the cottage for our anniversary. The property was exactly as described, and we appreciated the use of the rowboat and kayak. The view of the lake was spectacular! It was hard to pull ourselves away from the deck. The screened porch offered a nice place to relax.

The property was beautiful and had everything we needed. Everything was clean and in good working condition. The only possible drawbacks were that it is a 20-minute drive from town and any businesses and that it is quite small. We ended up not taking our dog at the last minute because it rained most of the weekend, and it's a good thing we didn't bring him because there was very little room left in the house after we brought our suitcases in!

This cottage was probably the cleanest rental I’ve ever had, and the location is perfect! I stayed alone with my dog, so we did spend quite a bit of time inside just relaxing and listening to the lake and nature.
The bunnies are very active at night (fyi for dog owners lol).
The neighbors on each side are really close if your main priority is privacy, but I lucked out as no one was at either property during my weekday stay.
Lake Champlain is beautiful and the water access was good for my dog to have fun in. The view from the deck is truly breath taking.
The cottage has everything you need and is quiet and cozy. I love the screened in porch!

My husband and I just returned from a wonderfully relaxing five days at the cottage. It was perfect and exactly what we were looking for to get away from it all. The cottage was fully stocked and everything we could have wanted was there. Having Pratt's General Store right up the road, just in case, was also nice. It was still a little chilly, being the first week of April, but the cottage was cozy and a great place to relax after our busy days of exploring Vermont.

Everything was perfect minus the Electric going out a few times because of the heavy snow. Homeowner was fantastic. Called to let me know snow storm was on the way and how to prepare for it. Cute place highly recommend .

We have spend one week on this property and by far the very best vacation we have had for a long time. The house located in the quiet street, the views are absolutely stunning from the deck. Inside the house have everything and more to enjoy and relaxing. Yes, it’s small but equipped with everything you need. Very clean and comfortable. The perfect gateaway from a busy life. The owner was really nice and helpful. We loved here so much and can’t wait to come back next year.

The "Cozy Cottage" was small, but designed and appointed with artistic ingenuity. There is a spacious screened-in porch which adds utility in good weather.
The cabin is at the upper edge of a wooded slope going down to Lake Champlain. A well-constructed walkway leads to a spacious pavilion at the lakeside. The views of the Adirondacks across the Lake are awesome. We found great swimming at Kingsland Bay State Park, about 35 minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay here.

Small place just what we needed for a home base for our week in Vermont. The screened in porch was great for reading and makes the small place bigger.
