About this house rental
This unique octagonal house sits at tree top level just steps from the ocean on a quiet stretch of white sand beach 4 miles north of San Pedro; away from the tourist scene, but a short walk along the beach to wonderful restaurants, beach bars and a couple of little grocery stores. This is the ultimate location for diving, snorkeling or fishing, or just relaxing on the veranda looking out at the crystal clear turquoise water. There is a spectacular view of the waves breaking over the Meso American barrier reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world. We are a short golf cart ride to the lively San Pedro scene as well as many restaurants and beach bars along the way. We are located at the entrance to the famous (not so secret) Secret Beach road. The Tree House is the ideal spot for a romantic getaway, or for two couples or a small family. You’ll be living in a house, not a resort or condo, with all the comfort and privacy of home. The fully equipped kitchen will inspire you to prepare fresh caught fish and tropical fruit as you enjoy the ocean view. Both bedrooms have queen-sized beds. The living room is a comfortable place to relax and look out at the ocean. It has a couch that folds out to form a queen-sized bed. There is a 26 inch flat-screen TV with cable and multiple streaming platforms, and a Bluetooth speaker for your iPhone. and a landline. We have FiOS high-speed Internet. There is weekly maid service (or more frequently upon request). We have excellent air conditioning but the octagonal design and floor to ceiling windows of this unique house catch the ocean breezes so that our air-conditioning is seldom needed. Rubio, our caretaker, lives in a casita in the back of the property. You have your privacy, but he is there to assist you if needed. His chickens and friendly dogs give the place a homey, local feel. He will help you set up your kayak, or tell you the best places for snorkeling. The staff at Caye Management, our local management company, can answer any questions or book tours. They are available 24/7 in case of any problems. Our next door neighbor Geni at Coral Divers, is a dive master and tour guide. His boats sit next to our dock. Scuba Daze is nearby and can also arrange snorkeling and diving.
We try to be environmentally conscious and use plant based detergent and a minimum of plastic. Our water supply comes from rainwater stored in a cistern on the property. We ask that you bring a reusable water bottle. We provide a bubbler of bottled water to refill it. Please use the reusable shopping bags that we provide. You can swim or snorkel right off our dock. You can also take the kayaks out to the reef to swim and snorkel. Since they are sit-on-tops, it's not hard to get back in from the water. Or you can drive by golf cart to Secret Beach located directly across from us on the other side of the island. The staff at Caye management can arrange a golf cart rental. It is a great way to explore the island.
GETTING THERE:
Direct flights to Belize City International Airport leave from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta. From there you can take a 15 minute flight to San Pedro airstrip on Tropic Air or Maya Air. Caye Management will book it for you. Or you can take a 30 minute taxi ride to the water taxi terminal and take the water shuttle to San Pedro, an hour and a half ride. A representative from Caye Management will meet you at San Pedro airstrip or the dock and take you up to the Tree House. The cost of transportation to the Tree House is included in the rental.

My stay at the Tree House was wonderful. I loved my time there and highly recommend it.
House: the beds were comfortable, the Kitchen had most of the basics and the view of the ocean just off the covered deck mesmerized me. One should note that the water does not get more than waist deep until about 200 feet from shore.
Caretaker: Rubio is very responsive but also respects the guest's privacy. He kept an eye on us when we were snorkeling in the nearby reef; he listened for our golf cart and opened the gate whenever we came home, and he made recommendations on restaurants. For a very reasonable price, he would harvest and clean conch and, if we provided the ingredients, he would prepare ceviche. The only negative thing I have to say is about Rubio's dog. He has three large dogs and two are very sweet. The third, however, acts aggressively towards the guests or anyone walking past though to be fair I never saw her snap at anyone, it was all just noise.
Location: There are no restaurants within walking distance and just two very small grocery stores. You either need to budget for taxis ($40 to town) or rent a golf cart in order to eat out or go anywhere.
Activities:
The snorkeling was fantastic and I recommend going to Mexico Rocks over Hol Chan. Note that Scuba Daze will pick you up on the dock.
We also really enjoyed Caye Caulker and recommend a day trip.
Finally, the Tree House is less than two miles from Secret Beach.

All in all, we really had a good time and are glad we went to Belize and stayed in the Tree House. The best part was the view of the ocean, the ocean breezes and Rubio the caretaker. The Tree House itself is a little run down but we weren't looking for upscale accommodations so it didn't really matter. We advise that they upgrade the window and door screening to keep insects out. The decking on the porches could be redone and the dock boards should definitely be redone. The appliances all worked fine, the kitchen was adequately supplied although sparse on spices etc. We felt a little cheated on the kayak experiences we were planning because the seating in the double kayak was broken down and we really couldn't use it as hoped. We were told that new seating was on its way this Spring. Rubio is a gem - he was helpful in so many ways and offered a sense of security that we appreciated. We were grateful for the timing of our trip because the sargassum grasses were just beginning to wash in at the end of our ten days there. We understand that they can get really bad in the Spring making swimming out front unpleasant as well as a bad smell to deal with. For me, the very best part was sleeping at night with all windows open to feel the breezes and hear the gentle waves - heavenly! We're glad we had the experience but not at all sure we would go back again.

My partner and I spent the first two weeks of February at the Tree House. I also welcomed my two adult children and a son in law for a week. It was exactly as described. It was clean, plenty of supplies, the beds were comfortable. I was a little concerned about having five adults living in a fairly small place, but everyone had a great time, and the size of our surroundings never caused an issue.
We felt very safe in the area and enjoyed being a bit further north on the island. Rubio, the caretaker, took great care of us, in many ways. His knowledge of the area was so valuable. We would have had a much harder time getting acclimated without him. He took the two men spear fishing for lobster -which they loved- and even cooked the lobsters for us that night. Delicious. Thank you for everything, Rubio!
Opting for a house, vs a resort, is the choice I always make when using VRBO. I want the privacy, and the flexibility a private home offers. I found it very easy to book private fishing excursions, and private snorkeling trips. Mary, from the management company, could not have been more helpful and patient. With three more people coming and going on separate days, she was able to make all the arrangements without a hitch. Thank you, Mary!
When I come back to Ambergris Caye, I will be sure to stay at the Tree House again.

What a find!! Treehouse is 30 min (by golfcart) from San Pedro and 30 min from Secret Beach. Perfectly located to enjoy beautiful sunrises and a peaceful stay. Caretaker, Rubio, is wonderful and Caye Mgmt. helped with all pre-stay details. Highly recommend.

The tree house was a lovely place to stay for those looking to enjoy the beauty of Ambergris Cay on their own. We were well taken care of by the owner and management company including rental of our golf cart, arrangement for our flight to the island, and pick up at the airport. Rubio, who lived on the property, was present and accommodating when we needed him, but not obtrusive in any way. The interior of the tree house had everything we needed for a family of 3 including a comfortable living room and well-equipped kitchen (which we didn’t use much). The wrap around porch was fabulous and we spent many hours contemplating the world. The pictures are accurate and the location was terrific for trips to secret beach.

House was really nice, and we loved the location, short ride over to secret beach and not to bad of a ride back to town. It was nice having Rubio there to help out here and there!
4.8
Wonderful location, we couldn't have asked for better! The house was perfect. The care taker Rubio was great to give us suggestions on what to do and where to eat and having his dogs there helped us feel safe. The property management team answered all our questions and helped us get things lined up for all our transportation needs and helped us know what to expect and where to go. I would suggest this house to anyone and everyone!

Our family has an amazing time staying at the tree house! Caye management was great to work with and arranged our flight, golf cart rental and transport to the house. Rubio was such a character and so helpful! Our kids loved having the dogs and chickens on the property! The house was comfortable and clean. The location is near the secret beach turn, so a good spot so we could head over there daily. The sargassum was in thick, so we couldn't use the beach or dock area. I am glad we were out of town so it made it easier to get to Secret beach! The house was further north than I expected, but I am glad about that. Overall a great experience!

nice location but had to rent golfcart and a bit far from grocerys.

Our goal was to rest, relax and spend time as a family. The treehouse provided that opportunity where it was situated and was very comfortable more than meeting our needs. Each morning we watched a lovely sunrise on the porch while listening to the breakers on the barrier reef. We took long walks on the beach and utilized the kayaks and paddleboard together. We prepared meals together or enjoyed a meal at local restaurants. On site, Rubio was kind offering suggestions when we had questions. Also preparing coconuts for us to drink and assisting cooking on the fire pit for our last meal together before leaving. We were sad to go but also very thankful we achieved our goal!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse. Rubio lives on site and was very generous and helpful. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board.. The house is lovely and very clean. Thank you!

This was our 4th trip to San Pedro and I will tell you The Treehouse was fabulous and gave us a new and fun experience! The Caretaker, Rubio was so helpful and kind. He caught conch, snapper and lobster for us so we ate like kings all week long. He even taught my husband how to cook the fresh lobster Belizian style on the rustic open fire grill. I really appreciated the well stocked Kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc. I cooked many meals with the fruit and veggies that we were able to get from either the convenience store within walking distance or from the grocery stores in town....Pico, seafood stew, breaded fish tacos, fried fish sandwiches and breakfast tacos just to name a few! We enjoyed having coffee out on the deck each morning and beers from the corner store during sunset. We used the Coral Divers company next door to snorkel/dive and then a day trip to Caye Caulker. My husband did two night dives with White Sands Dive just up the road. Caye Management was very responsive and helpful and took care of all the details for us. We had a fabulous time and would definitely consider booking here again!

Wonderful Hosts and Support from Cornelio/Rubio the caretaker and management people, Trish and Mary, who took care of plane reservations to the island and golf cart rental. Really, really helpful. "Rubio" was ever-present in the event we needed anything, absolutely anything. Location good, few miles from the lively and charming town. We visited to go diving and that was terrific, the dive shop, White Sands, picked us up at the dock in front of the house. Would highly recommend.

The smell and the beach was nasty and trash everywhere. The pier felt like it was going to break when you walked on it. The water was
Not clear so you couldn’t snorkel or swim from trash and seed weed everywhere.

Treehouse
Great place just north of town. Quiet but super easy to cruise in for dinner. The care taker is amazing! Like a ninja. You never see him until you need him and he is there! Rubio is the best!

We absolutely loved our stay at the tree house. Perfect location that is quiet yet close to town and plenty of restaurants. We went out twice with coral reef divers which is right next door. Great snorkeling and super easy!! The house has a total island vibe, the property is beautifully maintained. Rubio, the caretaker is great and will help you with anything you need. Plus his dogs and chickens are super sweet. Look out for the burrito guy who passes on the beach every morning. Perfect for breakfast or lunch but be on the deck early.

Great Place to Stay
The house itself is very clean and comfortable. But making it special is Rubio and his wife. He provides any help or info needed. He will also provide fresh fish or conch and they will even do the cooking. It is unfortunate that the grocery store and maybe a couple nearby restaurants are not open, probably due to covid. However, it was a fairly minor inconvenience, and we had a memorable dinner at the Sun Deck down the road. I am so glad we rented a golf cart as we made many trips into San Pedro and to other places, including Secret Beach. Caye Management provided free taxi service to and from the air terminal. They also arranged air service from the international airport and delivery of the golf cart.
The view is spectacular and it is so nice to sit on the large deck and enjoy it.

Was a very nice place. Only wish was that some of the vegetation blocking much of the sea view would be cut down. Overall, though, great place.

We had a fantastic stay at the treehouse! The property was just as described in the listing, and the pictures don't do the view justice! We loved the privacy the property afforded and feeling like we were off the beaten path a bit! The porch was amazing for lounging, enjoying the view and some protection from the sun when you wanted it. We rented a golf cart, so everything was convenient to get to. Having a kitchen was great, we hit up the grocery stores and were able to do lunches and some dinners in! Rubio was lovely, and extremely responsive if you needed something, but we were low maintenance. I absolutely loved the property, and can't wait to come back for another stay in the future!

A little slice of Paradise
We loved The Tree House. Two friends meeting from different part of Canada (Vancouver and Montreal) meeting in Belize for sunshine, sea, sun and snorkeling. It couldn’t have been be nicer. Weather was perfect. The description of the house is exactly as listed. The on-site caretaker Rubio as great and would help with anything. Two big comfortable bedrooms and FULLY equipped kitchen. Good wifi and TV. Balcony so nice for early morning reading. Private beach is lovely, raked daily by Rubio, Princess the dog and two chickens! Shallow water but very swimmable. Only thing missing is a few plastic lounge chairs for the beach. The house is quite and private but only a 20 minute golf cart trip into San Pedro, 12 mins to Secret Beach and if you head north there are beautiful beaches and resorts to have a drink, swim, dinner etc
It won’t be my last time going to Belize

Wonderful stay at the Treehouse
We loved the Treehouse! So close to everything. Laying in the hammocks is sooo relaxing. Rubio is very helpful. He made us a wonderful fish/lobster dinner and a fantastic ceviche which we munched on for days. He goes out fishing almost everyday and so the seafood is fresh. Make sure you ask him how much it will cost. Him and his wife will cook up anything you want. The snorkeling was great and the grocery store right around the corner was convenient for small items. Thanks!

We absolutely love the treehouse. He really enjoyed Rubio's assistance.
This property is exactly as it sounds it is in the trees. It's incredible to open all the windows and lets the breeze pass through. Best snorkeling ever! Incredible food served everywhere. The home was clean and well stocked. Love the caretaker on site with his friendly pets. Did not want to leave!

We loved the location!!! Private and close to town!
Rubio is so helpful! He gets you settled in and answers all your questions:) We loved our stay! Super smooth with booking and great location for running into town or going up to Secret Beach! My kids really enjoyed our stay!

We love the Treehouse
We've traveled many places across the globe , and the tree house was one of our favorites! The home was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The caretaker, Rubio, made sure we knew exactly where to go and what to do. He made the trip so much easier for us! The location is PERFECT! So close to the busy town of San Pedro yet secluded enough to have privacy and tranquility. The management company (Caye Management) helped us with scheduling our taxis to/from the airport as well as our golf cart rental for the week. There is a grocery store and a restuarant/bar within walking distance of the treehouse which we found to be incredibly convenient. The dock is shared between the treehouse and 2 other adjoining properties, as well as a diving/fishing/boat tour company which makes excursions and is only a 100ft walk from the house. Everything you need is provided here; plenty of towels, kitchen utencils/appliances, filtered drinking water, kayaks, hammocks, beach lounge chairs and island beach dogs for petting :-) Rubio, the on-site caretaker was available anytime we needed him and invisible anytime we didnt. He even took us out on the kayaks to the reef (an easy 15 minute paddle) to go snorkeling and conch shell hunting. When we got back him and his wife made us the BEST conch ceviche we have ever had!!! Whatever you need or want to know about the island, ask Rubio! We have been to Mexico, Tahiti, Bora Bora. Hawaii, Florida, California, St Thomas, etc and a handful of other places but we fell in love with Belize like no other place. The island, the culture, the people... they make this island a place we want to keep coming back to. If 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a living room with a futon bed work for you and your group then don't miss out on this amazing place. We are already planning our return trip!

Well equipped home, great views, friendliest people!
We had a great time. This is a spectacular property - well equipped with great views. Just close enough to San Pedro for access without the hustle and bustle. Rubio and his family are invaluable to this property. They help with any questions about Ambergris and are constantly helping with everything from bike rentals and dive trips to coconuts and fresh eggs! Genie, just 2 doors down, handled all of our dive and snorkeling trips and was incredibly flexible in accommodating everything we wanted to do and picking the best days for each activity. Each day began with the "burrito guy" providing breakfast and our trips departing from the dock just off the deck. Simply a spectacular trip and wonderful accomodations and people!

Treehouse, Belize, and Belizians - a Great Trip!
My daughter, son, daughter-in-law and I just returned from a stay at the Treehouse and a visit to Belize. This was our second stay at the Treehouse and I can’t say enough good things about the house, Belize, Belizeans, and the location of the Treehouse. The Treehouse is very well equipped and has nothing less than a spectacular view from its large rear deck overlooking the water. The house is very close to the water taxi stop for any trips to San Pedro and there are several good restaurants within easy walking distance. In addition, a bike rental facility is close by and will deliver bikes. This was our preferred method of transportation and worked extremely well.
Now to the Belizeans who made our stay at the Treehouse so memorable and enjoyable. This part must start by mentioning Rubio and his family who are the grounds keepers and advisors on all things Belize and San Pedro. Rubio is much like a long lost, good friend. He provided us with fresh coconuts whenever we ran low and even brought us fresh eggs one morning. He eagerly helped with any questions we had and helped facilitate any and all activities we had planned. Rubio and his family are among the nicest people I’ve ever met and having such easy access to them is one of the most valuable parts of the stay at the Treehouse. Similarly, the “Burrito Guy” who stops by every morning with breakfast burritos and tamales is very friendly, reliable, and has delicious breakfasts.
The members of our group are divers and snorkelers. Two doors down from the Treehouse is Genie, manager of Coral Divers. We used Coral Divers to facilitate all of our dives, a chartered all-day snorkeling trip with Genie and one of his divers, and an inland cave trip. Genie was incredibly helpful and was quick to advise on the best days for each activity taking into consideration weather, crowds, etc. His flexibility in accommodating our interests and schedule and his willingness to show us parts of Ambergris Caye that we would otherwise not have seen were invaluable.
Again, it was a spectacular trip and we look forward to making a return visit soon!

Beautiful, relaxing stay at the Tree House!
We are repeat visitors to the the Tree House, just a few miles north of San Pedro. This house sits in a quiet little neighborhood with nearby restaurants and bars but plenty of privacy for a relaxing vacation. The views from the balconies are incredible and we love sitting on the patio at night listening to the waves break on the Belize Barrier Reef. Coral Divers Belize are great neighbors and they can take you scuba diving, snorkeling or fishing and they will even cook your catch with a beach barbecue for you at the house! Great place for a group of 2 to 4.

Awesome!! We enjoyed every minute of our stay!
We really enjoyed the property! The view and location were perfect! The only suggestions we have would be more rope lights on the porch and some sort of fan to help with the mosquitoes at night. We loved sitting outside on the porch at night but we have mosquito memories all over our bodies. They are tough boogers; our 98% deet spray did not ward them off.
