Charming old cottage but a strange stay. The owners lived on premise and left all of their possessions in the rental. There was no dresser in the bedroom, closets filled with their clothes, all drawers and cabinets filled with their things. No room to unpack clothing, no kitchen shelf space for groceries. Hoarders with lots of old, old stuff.

Great property right on the lake, but there’s no fence between the yard and the lake, so not exactly child or dog friendly. Property was undergoing construction while we stayed there, so it was very loud with lots of people coming through, so no privacy for our small kids and had our dogs on edge. Owner was on site in the apartment above the garage. She was helpful and tried to make our stay better, but if we knew it was under construction we would have never stayed here.

Although the location was nice the property was not. The owner told me that the lake was not drained near the house, but it was. The dock in the online picture shows a white gate but in reality, there is no gate. So, if a child was out there unattended, they could potentially fall off the dock down about 10 ft to rocks or if the water was at level drown. The boat house has a deck on top, but the railings were falling over and there was a hold in the roof. Not safe to go up on. The master bedrooms closet was packed with owner's stuff leaving very little space for our things. The upstairs rooms were poorly heated. The refrigerator and freezer were clean out for our food but there were no cabinets in the kitchen for our dry foods. One cabinet has an open bag of potato chips and crackers.
Overall, it was as if you went to a complete stranger's home, and they just left for a weekend leaving everything they own as is and you had to jockey around their stuff. Did not feel like a "Vacation Rental." My big concern was would the owner come back and accuse us of doing something because EVERYTHING THEY OWN was accessible to us.
It was nice they allowed pets, but I would never stay here again.

Cathleen provided the perfect escape for my family of 4 + fur baby. The house was well stocked and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the huge back porch and yard. The dock was great for fishing and provided my son the opportunity to catch a very large bass. We would love to come back here again!

A very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Cathleen’s property. Lovely location and great proximity to everything in Lake Oswego. Cathleen was helpful throughout the arrangements and the property is a charming home.

The location was perfect for our needs. Plenty of room for the four of us. Loved being on the lake and having fires in the outdoor fireplace on chilly evenings. We had everything we needed for the week, but would have appreciated some drawers, closet space and clearer house instructions, such as what was expected of us on departure. The interior was clean and the bungalow has retained it's charm, but the photos of the exterior were taken some time ago and should be updated. I would not recommend for children as there are many knickknacks and personal items throughout the house.

If you are looking for a hotel-like experience, this isn't the place for you. But if you want to eat breakfast on a deck overlooking a beautiful lake with $5 million+ homes, have a 75 foot long dock from which you can launch paddle boards, and make S'mores in an outdoor fireplace, this might be it.
The house is almost 100 years old, lodge-style, clearly built as a weekender for an affluent Portland family in the Roaring '20s. It has been upgraded to an extent, but it has the feel and charm (and some of the issues) of its age.
But it has everything you need and then some. It's right on the lake, so expect to brush away some spider webs and some debris from the 125' douglas Firs.
We stayed for a full week. Cathleen is a dear, and was very communicative. Yes, I'd stay there again.

My wife and I had a terrific time exploring Portland and the PNW with this as our home base. Lake Oswego is lovely, there are plenty of restaurants, and great proximity to the city. Right off the bat, know that this is a home and not a rental, the house is well lived in and the owner's things are in all the cabinets and closets so if you're there for an extended period of time, you won't have much space for your stuff. I think the spider presence is a little understated in the description and reviews, but when we asked something to be done about it, someone did come and clean which was much appreciated and made a huge difference. The dryer also will randomly stop drying because it thinks the lint trap is disconnected. Mostly just minor stuff, but overall it was a great stay.

Great house on the lake. Loved the old house charm and it was so quiet which was exactly what we needed. Great communication!

Not well maintained home. Yard covered in geese faeces issue with my dog. Left property after 3 nights. Had paid for 14. Homeowner unwilling to acknowledge problem and did not refund me. Many issues, unstable floorboards in bedroom,- covered with cardboard, mold in bathroom, deck covered in geese excrement/potential hoarding/fire hazard, washer/dryer in a cellar with precarious steps down. Marketing a lake home in a very good area but property is completely misrepresented and owner is only interested in income. Very unfriendly and resides in second unit on property when renting the other space. Yard had probably not been maintained entire winter. Will never use VRBO again!!!

We spent a lovely week in the quaint, cozy and peaceful home on the lake with a beautiful 14' xmas tree which added ambience for the season. Although it rained the whole time it was still amazing to gaze at the lake while staying warm and comfy inside with the large fireplace. Perfect for rest and relaxation which was just what we needed. Charming & full of character with nice hosts it was ideal for us.

Wonderful family stay
We really enjoyed our stay as a family of four over the holidays. The large family/living/dining room overlooking the lake is a special place and was just beautiful with fresh snow on the ground. Nice kitchen and cozy bedrooms. Responsive owners. Recommend for those looking for a comfortable lakeside stay at a reasonable rate.

Great location
We spent eight days at this beautiful cottage and enjoyed every minute. The house is well stocked with cooking supplies and equipment. Since our nearby family visited often, we really enjoyed the plentiful seating, inside and out, and the backyard on the lake. The lake view is amazing. We would definitely stay again.

We loved staying at Cathleen’s cottage while in Lake Oswego. It is exactly as pictured, and you can’t beat the location right on the lake! Easy communication with Cathleen throughout (they even brought us a new toaster when the old one went out!). We were very comfortable for our week long stay. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

We loved our stay in this charming original cottage on Lake Oswego. It was perfect and the owners were some of the best people we've come to know. Everything was as described, even with all the 2020 mishaps of covid-19, once in a 100 hundred year wind storms and fires resulting, in the great state of Oregon. We would love to come back and enjoy another 2 week stay. We would recommend this property for a true Lake Oswego experience on the lake. Very relaxing! Wonderful owners! Beautiful views!

Fabulous Family Fun
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Cathleen's adorable cottage while visiting my two adult sons, who live in Lake Oswego. Her cottage was perfect in every way for our family. Lots of lake activities, a well-stocked kitchen, comfy beds and beautiful lake views from the lake front porch. We enjoyed long walks with the dog through the beautiful surrounding neighborhoods and sunset paddle boarding down the winding canals. Truly a memorable trip and hope to stay there again on our next trip up to Oregon.

Dreamy lake cottage
This place was exactly what I was looking for! I was alone and wanted a quiet small home on the lake. It was my first time in Lake Oswego and staying at this beautiful home was a bonus! There were paddle boards, a fire pit, and a comfy hammock to take in the views.Thank you Cathleen and Mark!

This was a great property on the main lake of Lake Oswego. It was a very comfortable Mountain Cabin situated on a lake. Fireplace is awesome.

Awesome, quaint and beautiful place to stay!
A+ Our family stayed in this charming bungalow for a little over one week when visiting from Ohio for our son's wedding in Portland. We were very pleased. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. Nice neighborhood. We enjoyed walks in the neighborhood between the busyness of our trip and loved watching the boats on the lake.
The bungalow is accurately described by the owner. Sleeps and accommodates six comfortably. Beautiful fireplace, great room and lots of table space for gathering. The owner is very responsive to questions. We plan to visit our son and wife often and will stay here again- for sure!

Relaxation with Family
Picture yourself swinging on a hammock between 2 trees as the breeze blows across the calm lake some 20 feet away. You look up to see 4 or 5 eagles flying above you hoping to catch some fish. You can hear the boats as they go by and the quiet movement of the paddle-boarders. It's a great place to just relax for a bit. After all, you are there with your 3 lovely grandchildren...and while you are having great fun with them playing ping pong, cornhole and several games...you suddenly realize you're not as young as you used to be...and you need a rest.
Cathleen's home sleeps 6 comfortably with a master that is separate and on the main level. It has a wonderful covered sitting porch that is very inviting. Yes, there are some spider webs...and they, gratefully, keep the mosquito population down. We are on a lake, after all. There are plenty of games to keep the children busy and many books for the adults and children to enjoy. The kitchen is large enough for 2 or 3 of us to cook in so we were able to enjoy many home cooked meals together. This home is everything we hoped it would be! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Heaven
Lake location is beautiful. We spent many hours on the porch relaxing and loving the view. House is clean, comfy and well supplied. Driving distance to downtown Portland; lots of local restaurants. Came with 18 year old grandson and we each had a great time. Cathleen is always available to help. Highly recommended.

Disappointed
I was extremely disappointed with this property. My husband, myself and our toddler had pre-booked (and pre-paid) for the property and we were scheduled to stay for a week. Within seconds of stepping foot onto the property we immediately discovered that the house was plagued with a myriad of safety issues that effectively rendered the house uninhabitable. For beginners, the house was not properly sealed and there was an infestation of creepy crawly critters both inside the property and on the surrounding deck. Next, the railings on the second floor were spaced so far apart, an adult could easily slip through (and this was just not an acceptable or safe condition for any child; and I cannot image this would be up to “code”). Next, the dock was in complete and total disrepair. That being said, this was not a grave concern because we were told in advance that the property did not have lake access. However, there was no meaningful effort to seal off the deck from the backyard and (once again) this posed an extreme safety hazard for any children. The remainder of the property was generally unsightly and disheveled.
There is some glimmer of hope. I can see how this property could be revitalized or transformed into a wonderful place. However, in its current condition, we simply could not take the risk of staying at this property.

Loads of character and potential.
Nicely appointed older home on the southwest portion of the lake. Pros: unbeatable lake view, backyard hammock, fireplace, comfy beds, loads of character, cable TV, Uber Eats delivers. Cons: spiders and spider webs both inside and out, somewhat neglected and dirty- couldn't use patio table because it was covered in dirt and spider webs, no house guide or instructions (besides wifi password), lack of privacy (insufficient window coverings throughout), another person staying on the property (not disclosed at booking), train noise in the middle of the night.
Despite a few setbacks and my irrational fear of spiders, this was a good property to spend a week. With a little cleaning and pest control this home could be great. In my opinion, any other people staying on the property should be disclosed. Someone was staying in a studio above the detached garage (they were quiet as a mouse, though).
Owner was responsive to questions. A house guide would be hugely beneficial: we didn't know how to utilize the three separate trash/recycling bins; we didn't know if we could use the wood for the fireplace; and parking in front of the house was a little awkward.

Wonderful
What a beautiful home, property and great location! There were 5 of us staying at this property, we had plenty of room and everything we needed.
Cathleen was more than accommodating to us during our stay.
Highly recommended.

Beautiful Lakefront home!
Had a very nice time, everything was as described, and had everything we needed for a pleasant week stay. Very pretty views of the lake, a large fireplace for the rainy nights, enough room for myself and two children to feel comfortable. Thanks, hope to stay with you again.

Location is heavenly!
We stayed in this home for 2 weeks while my girl friend recovered from surgery. Though the home is older the location made up for any deficits noticed due to its age.
The location on the lake is like a mountain retreat. Much of our time was spent on the back porch enjoying the lake view--watching fish jump, the bird activity, etc. One day an eagle was circling over the lake & dipping down to the water right in front of the porch. The house was fairly well stocked--plenty of towels, laundry detergent, fire wood and the kitchen had every thing needed for prepping & serving meals. A couple of days when the weather cooled & was raining, we had a wood burning fire in the gorgeous stone, oversized fireplace which contributed even more to the charm of this home. The only negative note was at 8:15ish, check out morning (without any heads up) one of the owners brought their large dog back to the home & left him loose on the porch which prevented us from being able to enjoy the porch our last few hours. Other than this one issue, we would definitely book this home again.
