About this cottage rental
January, 2024
Hope you All are safe and sound,
Mother nature made her presence felt again this winter. Many folks have been asking if the village is open, due to the storm damage. All restaurants and shops are open, the wharf, will remain under construction for 2024.
Fortunately, our cottage was unharmed by the large ocean swell and the torrential downpours of rain in early January. The beauty of this unique spot in Capitola Village is reservable for traveller's.
This charming setting and cottage has become known as the first home built along the creek. There are numerous traces and remnants of historic Capitola hidden, but still remaining in this old beach town. This unit is one of them and is available to be rented anytime of year. Take advantage of these great seasonal rates!
Recently renovated, this cozy historic 2 bedroom 1 bath riverfront cottage is located in the heart of the Capitola Village. You can enjoy this peaceful habitat setting, relaxing in the most spacious yard, or on the deck overlooking the coastal wildlife along the banks of Soquel Creek. Certainly, walking a two-minute trail stroll to Capitola’s most popular beach, wharf, shopping, bars & restaurants is an option as well. This furnished beach cottage is in an ideal location and provides the perfect retreat for a family or friends.
This sweet craftsman is in the shape of a duplex now that does share 1 wall and the front patio. However, it has not lost it's original and historic charm. To whom will you be sharing the wall with? Well, a very nice tenant who has complete understanding that we rent our side unit during the summer. The tenant keeps to themselves and you may see a glimpse of him/her coming and going. Situated in the Riverview Terrace neighborhood, you will feel like you have a very private setting. We have been renting for numerous years now and have yet to have any issues with this arrangement.
This is a great place for a couple or two. A small family can also, comfortably enjoy this great little village without hassle! Relax on the deck with a drink overlooking the creek. Cuddle up with your honey or with your loved ones while taking in the smells and sounds of this coastal riparian corridor.
Most importantly, we want visitors to know that we are doing our best to maintain a clean and safe environment for all of us to have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation experience. Please feel free to inquire or advise us with any specific questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you and be kind!

We loved our stay at this property along the canal in Capitola. It was just right for my husband, our daughter , her husband and their newborn baby. A quick walk into town and easy access to the beach where we spent much of our time. The house was clean and the property manager was easy to get ahold of. Check in and check-out were a breeze.

Location couldn't be more ideal--close to the esplanade and right on the creek. We missed having some amenities, but the listing didn't mention them so that was our bad for being disappointed that they weren't there! (e.g., we wanted to kayak or canoe on the creek and thought there was a rental place in Capitola, but the closest one is the Santa Cruz harbor so that wasn't helpful. We also would have really enjoyed having a fire in the fireplace, but it seems to be for decoration only. There is also a fire pit in the yard by the creek but it wasn't stocked and is probably for the owner's use only. The back screen door is ripped and needs to be replaced, but if you want a clean, cozy place near the beach that is quieter and more private than places like the Venetian, this is a great place.

I loved the beautiful setting, right next to the Soquel Creek and being a quick walk to the Capitola Village. It worked perfectly for two couples. My only suggestion would be for another screen or two on the bedroom windows. There were mosquitos. Otherwise we loved it. 😊

Our stay at this quant cottage was lovely. The location allow is worth the stay. The house had what we needed and relaxing in the back area was delightful. My son also was introduced to VHS tapes. Good times for everyone.

We loved our stay here. The location is absolutely perfect - a pleasant stroll from downtown Capitola, but away from the noise and on the peaceful and beautiful Soquel River. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, and we would definitely stay here again.

Booked a couple weeks prior to the Labor Day Weekend for a family trip and could not have been happier. Location was perfect, owner was very accommodating, house had everything we needed. Awesome location right on the river.

Cozy and convenient. A little dated, but all functional and just as described.

Quaint, charming, perhaps a little outdated and neglected (screens on door were ripped, had to get down on hands and knees to turn on old heater). So why did I rate it a 5? It was everything I wanted - an authentic 1920s cottage right on the creek, that wasn't charging an arm and a leg. The setting can't be beat! Would highly recommend!

I enjoyed my weekend at this creekside property. The weather cleared up enough that I could sit outside and read and watch the ducks at sunset. And downtown is just a hop, skip and jump away! The house was quiet and had all the amenities I needed. Glad I found this place!

We loved our stay here and the location was amazing! Right on the river, super quiet and wonderful location.
Easy 2 min walk to downtown Capitola, the beach and shops.
Parking spot in the property driveway was great - especially given the limited parking in capitola and gave easy access to the rest of Santa Cruz.
Kids loved feeding the ducks on the dock on the river right out front - super peaceful.
Will stay again!

Property is nothing like the photos. Old, rundown place, using towels instead of floor mats, old and worn kitchen supplies all mismatched, no water in the shower so had to wash hair in kitchen sink, no blankets for bed just a pile of thin quilts, etc. etc. Checked out after one night and still had to pay cleaning fee. Only thing this place had going for it was the location.

This house is right on the river in Capitola; the ducks are waiting when you walk outside with your coffee in the morning! It is also right on a path that takes you straight into town and to the beach! Great views, and ambiance. Very mellow vibe. The owner and property manager are very helpful and nice. Rooms are spacious and clean; everything you need to cook is provided. I highly recommend!

This cottage is perfect. So perfect I plan on returning. The location is perfect, walking distance from the beach, restaurants, and shopping. The cottage itself is adorable and the backyard is something special...nature and breakfast cant get no better than that sitting on the deck watching the ducks and taking in the sights and smells of the beautiful flowers. There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is. The owner is friendly and returns messages and calls promptly. The property manager is friendly, prompt, and professional. Thank you for the amazing stay...so amazing l wished I lived there.

Four best girlfriends enjoyed this darling cottage on the river. We were all happy to see how well Capitola survived the past flood damage. The location is perfect to walk everywhere. 2 parking spaces was a nice plus. We sat out on the deck/landing at rivers edge early morning till late at night watching the bird life. Played table games on porch. Walked to restaurants. Someone’s kitty’s visited daily. Very cozy and nice people everywhere.

Great location, cozy cottage. However, given the cleaning fee, you would expect the utensils to be clean and the bathroom to be clean. greasy utensils and human hair on the bathroom fixtures. I did not expect to have to clean the unit upon arrival. But I guess that’s part of the experience.

The house is really cute, right on the river. We didn't realize there was a path along the river that runs in front so were surprised to have people walking by all day. House is nicely furnished with everything you need. It's an older dwelling so has charm. It was a short walk into the village, 7 minutes, close to shops and restaurants. Parking on the premises, always nice.

Unique and well-appointed. The location (short walk to town and the beach) was perfect for our small family. Our 7 year-old enjoyed playing at the beach, arcade, getting a slice of pizza and some ice cream. The heater worked great at night (cooler days) and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. thank you so much!

The cottage in Capitola was the perfect site for our family getaway. Clean, comfortable and well stocked. We all loved the proximity to the river and the short walk to the beach and downtown. We loved having our morning coffee on the riverside deck and listening to and watching the ducks. The location beautiful, quiet and serene. Capitola has always been one of our favorite getaways and staying at this cottage did not disappoint. We will definitely be back.

The cottage is clean and well stocked. It is an old, rather shabby building on the outside, but pleasant and comfortable inside. The location is wonderful, right on the creek and the lovely creek walkway. Easy walk to Capitola village. The manager was easy to contact and friendly. We would certainly return.

Thank u Dan for sharing your home on the creek. We had hoped so much to pull our art boat up to your epic yard.. but we made sweet memories out on your boat our last day which felt so grounding after the long weekend working on our project for the Nautical Parade. Thank you for that opportunity.
Thank you so much for the quick reply’s and for sharing your special space.
Best,
Monica

Just blocks from Capitola Village. We walked to the beach with our surf boards and lounged about at the river's edge in the evenings. A really lovely little spot! There was one problem we had with the microwave, and the owner was highly responsive, warm and helpful.
Thank you for sharing your cottage with us!
