About this house rental
Contact Becky to hear about our Winter Special! Ready to take your reservation! During Peak Season our property books Saturday to Saturday, we have a 3-day minimum during our off-peak season.
We sleep 4 guests (no exceptions) and we allow you to bring ONE (1) dog for a fee. Please respect our neighbor's peace and quiet and do not leave your dog tied to a lead outside barking all day. Please do not bring your dog if they are going to just sit there and bark; that's no fun for your furry family member or our neighbors. Thank you.
Boyer Beach House is a Four Season Home (2 Bed - 2 bath), cedar-sided ranch with a great fireplace, full updated kitchen with dishwasher, 3.5 acres, 2-car attached garage, small dunes, and 190 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. Free Spectrum Fiber Optics too!
The house is located on one of the most rustic roads in Door County, South Lake Michigan Drive. It is a 1.5-car wide lane (newly paved 2024) that meanders along the lake shore for a couple of miles, the speed limit along our stretch is 15 mph. Very, very low-traffic road, either someone really wants to drive down this road or they have a place here. It is not part of the tourist trail.
The house is 40 feet away from our expansive sand beach, (across the small rustic lane) the total sandy area is approximately 1 acre. The lake shore is super sandy and the lake bottom is hard sand, gradual depth, great for kids, and your dog too!
Boyer Beach House is located towards the northern end of a sandy bay that totals just over a mile. At the north end is where you will find the Sturgeon Bay shipping canal, lighthouse, and the Door County Land Trust Preserve which has 400+ acres of forest, dunes, and walking trails.
Our lakefront is perfect for kayaks, windsurfing, swimming, sailing, SUPing, and boogie boarding. Very easy to launch any 'quiet' water activities.
To the rear of the house is about 2 acres of pines, birch, and cedars that you can explore. Beyond our land are hundreds of acres of privately owned, but undeveloped land. This area is teeming with wildlife. It is very common to see deer, porcupines, turkeys, or foxes walking in the area or right down the middle of South Lake Michigan Drive.
The house is an extremely well-built ranch, circa 1960. There are two generous-sized bedrooms and plenty of closet space. Bedroom #1 is 16x14, with huge closets, a dresser, and a Queen size bed. Bedroom #2 is 12x10, with a small dresser, huge closets, and two Twin beds. A full bathroom on the main level and a full bathroom located in the basement.
Our front room has a woodburning fireplace and the living room area with a view of Lake Michigan. We have a Smart TV and Spectrum Fiber Optics.
The full kitchen is updated and well-equipped to prepare any meals to be served in the separate dining area. We have a CHARCOAL grill for outside use.
The basement is unfinished but here you will find a pool table, a second full bathroom, and a full-sized washer and dryer.
We do allow you to bring your well-behaved dog for a $90 fee; please don't forget to include your furry family member when booking, thank you! We ask that you always leash your dog when walking outside. Please respect our neighbor's peace and quiet and do not leave your dog tied to a lead or sitting on the beach barking all day. Please do not bring your dog if they are going to just sit there and bark; that's no fun for your furry family member or our neighbors. Thank you.
The attached garage is available for you to use. Back in your fishing boat, keep your bikes dry and easily pack/unpack your car. You will find our 3 Kayaks and Stand-Up Paddleboard in the garage (seasonal use) free for you to use. We hope you don't expect the Four Seasons Hotel; we try our best and hope you enjoy your vacation! Blue Chair Capital offers a 5% discount off the rental amount to military members and veterans; please present your proper ID.
Door County, the "Cape Cod of the Midwest", receives about 2 million visitors every year. Our location is away from the "tourist trail" and makes a good home base to easily explore all of Door County by car.
We are 10 minutes from Sturgeon Bay shops, restaurants, and the waterfront walkway. There are many boat launch facilities and many transient options within minutes. Also, we are in the middle of one of the best fisheries in the world. Salmon, small-mouth bass, walleye, perch, and even northern - there is always a fishing option within a few minutes by boat.
We have 2 other rentals, both located in Egg Harbor, Boyer Log Cabin - on 40 acres, sleeps 6 (VRBO#1214889), and Boyer Bay House - which sleeps 8 -gorgeous sunsets (VRBO#1866692) please visit us there as well!!

My husband and I, along with our Golden Retriever, Katie, have stayed here three times now and continue to love it! We were especially impressed this time when, after discovering not long after our arrival that the microwave wasn't working, we called Becky and she had a new microwave delivered to us within an hour on a Saturday evening! We really appreciated her GREAT customer service and look forward to staying here again! Linda

Excellent location and view. As per advertised.

This place has so much to offer for a fun, comfortable lakeside stay. On warm days, there are lawn games (croquet, beanbag toss, and more) available. When the water is calm enough, kayaks and SUP's. There is all the beachside furniture needed for sunbathing or sitting around the campfire you could possibly need, and on rainy days, games, puzzles, books, DVD's, and even a pool table that can be converted into ping-pong. We've rented a number of VRBO properties through the years, and this beach home stacks up as one of the best in our experience. The kitchen is decently appointed for a rental home affording all the tools, pot & pans and accessories to prepare basic meals, and the beds and linens are comfortable and well cared for. Becky is a fantastic, hands-on and super responsive hostess. Thanks so much for the opportunity to stay with you! We hope to return next year for a week when the weather will be warm enough to take better advantage of beachside hours.

Although an older home, it is well maintained and meticulously cleaned. Love the location right on the lake. The hiking trails in the Land Trust gave me lots of options for walking our canine child.

We’ve been renting lake houses 2x per year for years and this is the first one that we were instantly comfortable. It's the perfect size and the location is just out of reach of any noise. The rooms were large with giant closets and the kitchen is set up perfectly for two people to cook at the same time. Everything had a quality feel and I wasn't afraid to use anything. These are also the most attentive owners of anywhere we've stayed.

We have never been to Door County before. We took my parents here for their 50th wedding anniversary and we had a great time seeing all the sites around Sturgeon bay. One thing we loved a lot about the place, is the private beach, so relaxing and definitely quiet and private. We had a great experience for visiting Door County for the first time.

Would absolutely recommend this place! The location is beautiful. The beach being right out the front door makes the stay, that’s for sure!
The owners have supplied so many great perks, from the beach furniture and outdoor recreation items to the washer and dryer. The house is spacious for a family of three and a furry friend. Very quiet and nice neighborhood, walking distance to a great hiking trail.

We stayed at Boyer Beach House for our 15th annual wine outing. (Two mother/daughters and a Frenchie.) The cabin was the perfect size and very well kept. It has a very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The beach directly across the very private road was beautiful and the sound of the waves that can be heard the moment you walk outside and even from inside at times made our stay even more enjoyable. The views walking along the beach and road were spectacular. We were within very reasonable driving distance of several amazing wineries, shops and restaurants. We had the most amazing weekend and hope to be back in the future! 100% recommend staying at Boyer Beach House!

A short getaway with friends. Hiking, biking, fires on the beach, and spent a few days in town. Friendly, quiet neighborhood. The house is clean and nice and well equipped. The master bed was comfortable. So great to walk the beach and listen to the waves! I'll definitely go back.

The setting is beautiful, sandy Lake Michigan beach, 100 yards from the house. The house is well maintained and comfortable for two couples. Great hiking area. Good location to explore Door County and Sturgeon Bay is charming. A little over an hour drive to Lambeau and what is best, a 75 minute ride after the game versus the hike back to Milwaukee. Becky was very helpful.

This was our second stay here and we've already booked our third! We love how roomy and comfortable this house is and its quiet, peaceful location. A lightly travelled lane is all that separates the house from a beautiful (also quiet!) beach on Lake Michigan. We happily spent many hours relaxing on the beach and enjoying the water view in the Adirondack chairs that the Boyers have thoughtfully provided for their guests on their stretch of the beach. We can't wait to go back!

A well kept typical 80’s ranch home . The house was basic accommodations with no frills but had access to great outdoor activities.
It was easy to find and located close to anything you may have needed .
7 miles to town if you needed groceries.
The neighborhood was quiet during our stay .
The water is across the road ; but easy to get to and you have a view of it from the front room.
The beach area was nice for young kids to play on and easy access to the water .
The water was cold and prevented a lot of swimming for our family ; but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the beach.
Just a short walk down the beach took us to the Sturgeon Bay canal , coast guard station , historic lighthouse and break waters.
You also found the land trust in the same short walk down the beach that allowed for public hiking trails.
At night when the kids went to bed we enjoyed the cable tv and free WiFi.
Our family would visit again to take advantage of the outdoor activities and location .

This was a perfect location for my husband and two kids to getaway AND put away our screens for the weekend! My kids are 9 and 12 and they had a blast playing games, pool ball table in the basement, and walking the beach! They were determined to go kayaking tho it was at best 40 degrees and sunny! Brave souls! This cottage was a great location...accurate in the description. Highly recommend!

Our time in Door County was spectacular! The place that we rented was quiet and right across from Lake Michigan where our dog frolicked in the waves every day! Highly recommend the Boyer Beach House in Sturgeon Bay!

My husband and I, along with our Golden Retriever, recently returned from a five-night holiday getaway at the Boyer Beach House. While we were disappointed that the mild winter weather wasn't conducive to our original plans to do some snowshoeing up in beautiful Door County, the Boyer Beach House itself was everything we had hoped it would be. Its location on a wide, long sandy beach on the shores of Lake Michigan gave us ample opportunities for enjoyable walks with our Golden. The house's very nice brick, wood-burning fireplace, well-supplied kitchen, and beautiful hardwood floors all made for a very comfortable stay for the three of us. We, in fact, enjoyed our stay so much that we've already made reservations for a return visit!

Our stay was beautiful! The home is situated right across a small road from the beach front. We will definitely be back!

This is a lovely property with a great access to Lake Michigan. Even though it was not beach weather when we stayed there, it made for very serene morning walks watching the sun rise, evening walks in the pink hues as the sun set in the west and fantastic star gazing at night. Very comfortable and cozy for all of us for a quiet thanksgiving. We were able to have good wifi strength and some signal as well, if we needed it. It was nice to have the second bathroom to process quickly. It was dog friendly which was important for us and we could keep the dog in the kitchen plus dining area and keep her happily watching us. Loved having the fireplace. Was nice to have the pool table in the basement for a few games. Basement was cooler as is to end expected in an old house but we bundled up. Stairs going down could be a bit precarious ( for little ones or elderly) and light could only be turned on after descending the stairs (from what we could tell). Because we were there in weather where the sun sets at 4 pm we used the house more too! Would recommend this fall winter trip to anyone who wants some quiet reading time and long serene walks on the lake.
We were hoping to do some hikes but the deer hunting season kinda ruined that. All in all fun and relaxing stay! Thank you

Very very comfortable home…comfy bed and pillows….well stocked kitchen & nice location on the beach. The only negative was the spotty internet and lousy TV reception. That is just a function of being tucked away in the woods…but they had a DVD player & lots of movies.

We really enjoyed our time at this property. The beach access was excellent, and very private. House is exactly as represented. We look forward to returning.

The home is in wonderful condition with great updates to the bathrooms and beautiful flooring. After being outside and experiencing the gale, it was nice to come inside to a warm, inviting environment.

We enjoyed our stay and spent a lot of time on the beach. The property has a great location and love the neighborhood of cabins/lake homes. Super quick drive into Sturgeon Bay and close enough to anything you’d want to explore in Door County. We really enjoyed the nice chairs on the beach and the bon fire pit.
The house itself could use a little TLC, especially the outside.

My two boys and I had a wonderful week at the Boyer Beach House. The house was perfect for us and the beach was great. We hope to return sometime!

Amazing location
We just had a great week staying at the Boyer Beach House and it was hard to leave. It was in a great location and the access to the beach was amazing. It was the perfect place to relax, hear the waves, and walk along the shoreline and everyone was so friendly. Even on the rainy day we stayed busy with pool, darts, and games. We also highly recommend trying one of the many supper clubs and the local meat, cheese, and smoked fish. And definitely swing my Grandma Tommy's! I highly recommend this place!

Relaxing time for family
This place still is a gem! We truly enjoyed family quality time together at beach. A home away from home. Love it! So many sightseeings and activities to do. Thank you Becky!

Wonderful location
The owners have done a nice job of upgrades inside the home, but the outside needs some loving attention. Just my impression and does not negate the fact we would return. Enjoyed the quiet, nice neighbors, wonderful beach, hiking. Owners were easy to work with and had everything we needed.

Great little vacation!
We stayed at Boyer Beach House for our first little family vacation. It was a perfect first experience! Lake Michigan was absolutely gorgeous! Our kids loved the beach and my husband and I loved the quietness of it. We enjoyed exploring the lighthouses and Whitefish Dunes State Park.
The House itself had everything to make us feel like we were at home, especially when making our own meals. Our two year old loved sleeping in a “big” bed. And both our kids loved sharing a room. The weather was a little on the chilly side and we arrived with rain, but that’s to be expected at the end of May. The house is was very clean for the exception of the windows where there were flies/bugs in the frames, but again it is to be expected after the winter, so it wasn’t a bother and the rest of the property was spotless including the bathrooms and kitchen.
Becky was great to communicate with! Very friendly and accommodating and made the booking, arrival and departure process seamless.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was a wonderful experience!
Thank you for having us!

Peaceful getaway
We had such a great time! We honestly didn’t want to leave! The beach is gorgeous! We also enjoyed hiking in the woods and in the nature preserve down the street. The house was perfect and they had absolutely everything we needed and then some. This is a perfect vacation spot for families with kids. The dog also didn’t want to leave! Great spot for birding and searching for native plants. A real highlight of the trip was seeing a porcupine and a few baby deer! We most certainly will be back!

Exclusive retreat
Very comfortable, welcoming ranch-style home just steps from Lake Michigan. Granted -- we visited during a less-than-popular transition season, but it met or exceeded our expectations. We appreciated first, the location; second, the availability of a well-assembled kitchen; along with decent WiFi, a DVD player with some old classics, use of a garage, a few tools to fulfill our desire for a beach fire or two, beautiful hardwood floors, lots of deer, and a location at the nexus of Sturgeon Bay's lake life (the harbor entrance & Coast Guard station!)

Great Location
Great location on the beach, we had a great time waking daily along the beach with our dog. We we arrived the front door was open and the heat was off so the house was freezing. The owners were quick to send someone out to fix the heating issue but since the door had been open for who knows how long it took hours for the temperature to be comfortable in the cabin. The rest of the stay was wonderful with no other issues.

Amazing Views - Beautiful Property
My wife and I stayed at this property for a few days, and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. The house was very comfortable and met our needs very well. Communication with Becky was great. Very easy to work with. All in all a fantastic place to stay, even when the temps were -14degrees.
