We really enjoyed our stay at this location. The home had everything we needed. We loved sitting outside on the patio to eat and the treehouse feel of the vaulted bedroom. Our kids enjoyed the DVDs and games that we found. The hosts were easy to communicate with. The location bewteen Montreat and Black Mountain was perfect. We hope to come back soon!

Our second visit was as fantastic as our first! This home was perfect for our family's mountain vacation and the host's communication is unparalleled. Thanks for a great week!

We had SUCH a wonderful stay. I can’t speak highly enough about the cabin and hosts. It was the cleanest VRBO accommodation I have ever stayed in. The hosts were so attentive and helpful, as well as responsive to any needs we had. The cabin had everything we needed for our family summer Fourth of July trip to the NC mountains and a perfect launching point for hiking adventures to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Montreat, and Chimney Rock State Park. Can’t recommend enough! Black Mountain is also a bustling gem of a town. We already want to plan our trip back!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the comfort, beauty, serenity and convenient location this property provides. We would definitely love to come back again and again. It’s delightful.

This little cabin in the woods exceeded our expectations. It was exceptionally clean and well-decorated. The attention to detail was very impressive. It was well landscaped, and there were ample amenities from a well-stocked kitchen, board games, movies, and an info booklet on local attractions. There was a fire pit with firewood already provided, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a little swing set which our kids loved. Did I mention how CLEAN it was?? We have stayed at many rental properties but this one tops the list in terms of cleanliness. The location was close to both Black Mountain trails as well as Asheville, and when it was time to go, nobody wanted to leave. We would definitely love to stay here again!

The cabin was everything we expected and more. Our group consisted of three senior adults. The bedrooms are very spacious as well as the bathrooms The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, glassware, utensils and cookware. The cabin was very clean as well as the outside, which we really enjoyed. The only concern we had was the lack of placemats for the table. We did not want to harm the surface of the table with a hot dish. We worked around that by using paper plates as our placemats.

My family and I spent a week at this cabin first week of June and it was amazing! The check-in and check-out process were very smooth and easy. The house was very clean and filled with beautiful photography and nature books. We had two kids aged 2 and 4 so the swing set was a huge hit. From the property we could see broad winged hawks, fence lizards, box turtles and even some black bears walking through! A true nature-lover's paradise. My youngest daughter fell in love with the bear stuffed animal left on one of the beds so we ended up buying a similar one in town. Don't miss the very kid-friendly Foothills Grange brewery in Black Mountain. Also check out the Sassafras on Sutton bookstore / toy store. We visited the newly opened Catawba Falls trail and it was a beautiful but challenging hike in the mud--good boots required if it is wet, but worth it! Climbed to Craggy Pinnacles for amazing view on a stormy day. Also spent a day in Joyce Kilmer to see the 400+ year old trees there and visited the WNC Nature Center to see the wild life. Kids had a blast. The cabin is very centrally located to great hikes and restaurants / breweries / activities in Asheville. I would 100% recommend it! The only thing I would point out is the cabin does not have a view of the mountains in the summer months due to trees fully leafed out. This makes it feel almost like a secluded tree house--not a downside! Easy to see them from many other spots nearby.

We had a great stay at the cabin. John and Rachel are great hosts. They communicate everything really well and the cabin has everything you could need. The cabin is spacious and clean. The outdoor areas are lovely and the downtown area was a great afternoon trip. We loved it and hope to come back!

This was our third time to stay here and we enjoyed it a lot as usual. The property is so unique because it is secluded and private but near everything in Black Mountain. We've never rented where we couldn't see anybody and no one could see us. The house is well built, equipped, and furnished and we recommend it highly.

We loved this cabin. It is in the perfect location to town while still feeling as if it was in a remote location. DO NOT miss the restaurants and shops in town. Loved everything. The cabin was immaculately clean and accommodated my husband, myself, and our grown son. We will be back soon!

Wonderful, cozy, stay for our anniversary. We got to enjoy warm nights by the fireplace, decks with a scenic view, stargazing at night, movies, and cooking desserts in the well-stocked kitchen, all while being minutes away from downtown restaurants and some great half-day hiking adventures. Definitely recommend.

We had a lovely time at the cabin. Black Mountain is the perfect place to stay if you want to combine a trip to Asheville and views of mountains. The cabin is just as pictures portray. We enjoyed the indoor fireplace and the general ambiance. Winter views are great—mountains and trees. Two decks to enjoy the view. Took some great photos of the trees and moon. There’s a large yard with a fire pit, picnic table, and swings. If you travel with peeps who aren’t early risers, you can easily walk to Montreat and hike some trails. Shops, restaurants, and grocery store very nearby. If you’re a coffee drinker, pack your favorite Keurig pods as the only downside to Black Mountain are the coffee shops. We tried three and were disappointed with all of them. Maybe we just had bad luck. This last point is meant in no way to detract from the review of the cabin— just want to help my fellow caffeine- aficionados out.

I was a bit disappointed with the outdated cabin features, internet is not usable and not good, we couldn't use the tv (cable-dish) at all, old movies for the DVD, dishwasher was not cleaning the dishes, we run out of kitchen towels quickly, the shower is very old style, the fire place never started, a small fridge, old style dishes and many more. This is in addition to the very steep driveway, if you don't have a good car, it is a bit challenging and I think it is very dangerous. There is no grill on the property, I left a cheap one behind. I would not go back to this property.

We enjoyed our stay in Black Mountain. This house is super cute and just as advertised. So close to downtown! Just an FYI the Wi-Fi (DSL) definitely doesn’t support working remotely but was fine for streaming shows. The cell service is good but if you have to really work during your stay this may not be the best house for you. Other than that everything was great. Firepit outside was really cool. Owners are very responsive and helpful!

Nice place, close to the things we wanted to visit. Appreciate the owner's quick responses when we had a couple of questions.

When we first arrived the driveway was a bit daunting but after going up/down the first time it was no big deal. So don't worry about that. The cabin is situated in a very secluded spot surrounded by trees and various critters. We saw hawks, squirrels, lizards and rabbits. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. There were enough essentials like TP, paper towels, trash bags and all kitchenware to get us through our stay. The owner even provided coffee, creamer and sweeteners. The beds are very firm. A couple of us had to put some thick blankets under us to feel comfortable. Other than that we enjoyed our stay very much. Dont forget to save some time for visiting downtown Black Mountain. Lots of interesting shops and I highly recommend My Father's Pizza. Also, its a very short drive to Ashville. So this is a great place to stay if going to Biltmore.

We had a very relaxing time. We liked that it was a real log cabin. We liked the open ceiling with open beams. It was very secluded yet very convienent to Black Mountain.
John and Rachael, owners, answered all of our questions and Rachael came and got the fireplace going for us.

We were very happy with the cabin. We took day trips to water falls and got in a bike ride too. The town has fun shops and good food. But we mostly ate at home.

Loved it, it was all pretty awesome, driveway was pretty terrifying. Spent much of my life in the mountains so have a moderste amount of experience with steep driveways, but this one was crazy.

We are returned visitors to this terrific property. It is far enough away from everything that you get the isolated feel of being in the mountains yet still close enough that you are only 10 minutes away from downtown Black Mountain with many shops, restaurants and drinking establishments. Also within 30 minutes of downtown Asheville as well as hikes and driving through the Blue Ridge parkway. We can't wait to come back!

Great for a quiet getaway. Very close to many trails, Lake Tomahawk, good restaurants, etc. Cabin was well-stocked.

We had a wonderful stay in Black Mountain at this well-appointed and comfortable property. Plenty of space for a family, easy access to town and to Montreat, and wonderful outdoor spaces to read and relax. We loved our visit!

Three adults shared this lovely cabin, during a conference at Montreat. It’s super close to the gate, so really convenient. The cabin had a really spacious living area, and the three bedrooms are a plus. Very clean and cozy, on a big private lot with plenty of parking. The driveway is a bit steep, but it’s paved all the way so no big deal. If you’ve stayed at mountain cabins before, you’ve probably driven lots worse, so don’t sweat it!
The only potential negative is there’s only one full bath. There’s a half bath as well, so for three of us it was no issue. But if you were bringing a larger group, you might have to schedule shower time! But the three big bedrooms and large living space make up for it. We loved it.

Comfortable, spacious and cozy cabin near great restaurants, shops and hiking. We really enjoyed the outside areas as well and our toddler loved the swing set.
