Not too far from Stanley and really close to enjoy the land of the Yankee fork.

The cabin was set in a quiet remote setting 17 miles from Stanley Idaho. The cabin was more than large enough for the four of us plus our dogs. The wood stove heated the entire cabin and lasted must of the day with one setting. It also has a propane stove in the lower sitting area that starts with a thermostat. There is also separate heating in each bedroom and bathroom.
The two separate living rooms were nice. Both bedrooms had comfortable beds plus TV in each room. The cabin had a nice gas stove for cooking with ample kitchen supplies.
The owner was available on line with fast response to any of our questions. We look forward to another stay at the cabin in the future.

Had a great time up there! My little ones caught fish, explored the dredge, bonanza, and Custer! Hit red fish, took the water taxi and hiked the backcountry, then enjoyed the hot springs along with some s’mores at the cabin. Family really enjoyed it and will look forward booking it again!

Staying at the property for a wedding in Stanley. Great location with beautiful view. Communication was excellent with no problems. Highly recommended. Thank You.

The cabin is situated within a group of small cabins in a remote area that is still close to fishing, kayaking, hiking and hot springs. The stars are spectacular.
The cabin provided a space to refresh ourselves before our next adventure.

Great memories here.

Don’t expect to get in touch with anyone if you have questions upon arrival. The phone number given in my email was to a lady that sold the property 4 years ago. Contacting through VRBO was not answered until late the next morning. Things could have went much more smoothly if we could have had contact with the people that is renting.

Quiet and nice place to stay. Lots of mining history close by

Quiet location, clean, spacious, and comfortable accommodation.

We had a wonderful time at the property. It was a great location for are trip. We were even invited over to the neighbors for breakfast.

We loved the Yankee Fork Cabin! The area is full of interesting history and beauty, and the cabin provided everything needed to make our stay comfortable. Eric was a very accommodating host, and his communication and the cabin guide were quite helpful.

Property is almost 20 miles outside Stanley. Runs into town can take awhile. Canon
Is older in a older community. Mosquitos and wasps make it difficult to enjoy the outdoor part of the property. Steep stairs outside and inside.

Property owner was great to work with and provided many recommendations of places to check out in the area.

The cabin was perfect for my grandkids, lots of room.. They really enjoyed the board games.

Great cabin! Close to natural hot springs. Not to far from town, property could be hard to locate in the dark.
Great history close by.
Lots of outdoor activities! We saw elk, eagles, big horns, mountain goats and deer daily.
Muddy time of year for us so it was great that we had access to washer and dryer. We had used the firepit on site 3 nights. Enjoyed several games provided by the house!
Communication with the host and staff were exceptional.

We came to town for a wedding, the cabin was a bit far from the venue, but it was a perfect fit for our family! We had a lovely time. The host was extremely accommodating and communicative! Would highly recommend staying here!

This home was absolutely perfect. Lots of room for our family of 5. We could have brought many more and still had plenty of room. Owner and manager were wonderful. The canyon is full of things to do. Fishing, trails, ghost towns, gold mining history, historic cemeteries. You have to go up to the ghost town of Custer. It is a way better museum then Stanley’s. Absolutely fascinating!! I know I missed a lot of other things to do. Have Fun. It’s easy to do!!

We loved staying here. The home was comfortable, clean, and exactly as advertised. We were already familiar with the area, and found the home to be central to all we like to do: the hot springs, the river, the dredge ponds (loads of trout!), the dredge, and the ghost towns. We walked to much of it.

We visited the Sawtooths for just over a week to get out on the trails and soak in the hot springs. Eric, Erika and their maintenance team were so incredibly kind, proactive and helpful throughout our stay. I have never had such support from a VRBO host before. They were nothing but wonderful. Eric messaged us before our arrival to make sure we had the right directions and to clarity we would lose data en route. They kindly suggested we text them when we arrived so they would know we got there safely. Throughout the week, we got texts every so often to make sure we had everything we needed. They were very responsive and helped guide us through turning off all warmers/heat in the unit for the hot days and ensured we knew how to work the AC unit. Despite the heat, we stayed very cool!
Perks of our visit:
- WiFi for two of us working remotely, which easily handled us both on VPN and video calls all day, and while streaming shows
- A dedicated office space for working in solitude
- FireTVs in all the rooms so we could Netflix and chill when the temps got too high for us to be on the trails (Netflix was provided).
- Proximity to the Sunbeam Cafe for coffee and meals.
- Proximity to multiple hot springs and Stanley for food, drinks and trailheads. We woke up early when it was 40-50 degrees and enjoyed our coffee in the hot springs without any other visitors.
- AC and plenty of ceiling fans for hot days/nights.
- Ice machine
- External outlets for an electric grill (the one provided is propane) or even a car charger
- Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, garbage bags, etc. are all provided at the unit
- Washer and dryer (new) provided in the unit, with detergent
- Marshmallow roasting sticks, wood for the fire pit are all provided
Recommendations for future guests:
- Screenshot/download the packet of info before you depart for the area so that you have the WiFi password, directions, and the key box code before you arrive. If you have trouble with the key box you'll need to be able to text/call via the WiFi.
- After turning left on to Yankee Fork, follow the paved road until you hit gravel, then look for the Sunbeam Cabins/Resort sign on your right, turn right there and follow the short road until you get to the brown house with the green roof on the right. This route was less pothole-y than the recommended route.
- For the AC unit, attempt to turn the dial at quarter intervals until you get to the highest setting. It's pretty strong!

The effective price for the unit was a bit high for the neighborhood. The area is a bit rough.

This place is completely outdated. The AC did not work and we were all baking in the house so we had to open the window to let air in, consequently the old mirror fell off the wall and they over charged us for it. The place was not clean and we were charged for damages we did not cause.
4.6
If you’re looking to get away off the beaten path this is your spot! So nice to be tucked away and have everything out your front door. Kids loved the bunkhouse and winter on Yankee Fork is worth seeing!

Eric is a 5 star host. He was quick to respond to everything, and was always upbeat about the minor inconveniences (traveling issues we had, that had nothing to do with the property) we presented to him,. The house itself is older, and in an older area. Plenty of room for our extended family of 10.
4.6
Great location, spacious cabin with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.
4.6
The property was essentially unfindable.
There were unmarked cabins everywhere, private property signs, no way of telling which cabins without getting too close to the others, no explanation on how to get in, no number to call for help.
I never found the house - looked for 30 minutes, but dangerous place to be looking at twilight.
I think offering this cabin, if there is one, with no guidance on help, finding it, or how to get in is fraud!

Donna:
Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful family cabin. That is my idea of camping out! Just as advertised, the cabin was very clean and comfortable with all the little details taken care of such as linens, paper goods, ice, etc. We wanted for nothing, it was just plain comfortable. We enjoyed the fire each night and put it out with the hose conveniently located right there with a spray nozzle attached. We were visited by 3 foxes (night) plus chipmunks and blue jays. Your home is not a stripped down rental, but a fully functioning home that you allow guests to use, very nice indeed. We tried to respect everything there and hope we left it to your satisfaction. The adjacent cabins were close but mostly empty and very quiet, it felt very private and secure. We did enjoy watching the Shoshone empty the salmon fish trap (about 10 fish per day) right down the street and learned about the efforts underway to restore the salmon run and build a hatchery. We also really enjoyed the gold dredge tour, and the ghost town of Custer just up the road. We were unsure of the driving time to Stanley and we clocked it at an easy 24 minutes. Had a few nice dinners at Bridge Cafe but keep in mind Stanley is not a food destination. Thanks again for a great vacation cabin, we willl stay again if we are able.

While only three of us stayed at the cabin during a family reunion in Stanley, the house would comfortably house many more. Part of the idyllic Challis National Forest, the area is a beautiful and historical area, with the Sunbeam hot springs nearby as well. The cabin is super comfortable, has great wifi, and all the supplies you need! Thanks so much to Donna for such a fabulous stay!

I came to the Yankee Fork Cabin for a reunion of sorts with my parents, sisters, their husbands, and their children plus all the family dogs. It was beautifully set in the mountains with it being surrounded by all sorts of pine trees. The pictures do not do it justice, you have to be there to experience the sound of the birds the wind in the trees and the smell of the forest. The cabin was very cozy and very clean and had all the amenities of a modern house, and yet rustic enough in its location. The owner had all the beds made and the cabin was ready to just move and go have fun. It was awesome. We experienced hiking, going to the dredge, the ghost towns and my favorite, white water rafting was only 20 mins away. It was so reasonable we were able to enjoy many of the Stanley Basin attractions while still on a budget. The owners had also offered 4 wheelers for our family to use and explore the local area. My favorite part was sitting under the stars at the fire pit at night. We loved it so much, we have scheduled another stay this coming summer. Cannot wait till we are back in the pines and can enjoy the fun of the mountains. See you this summer!

As we drove to Challis, Idaho from Arizona, we saw some beautiful scenery and staying at the cabin proved to be a wonderful experience once we got there. It was enjoyable seeing the lay of the land as we drove to Idaho however when leaving Challis and heading toward Stanley, it just kept getting better, because of the river. Yes, following the Salmon River was a wonderful experience. We saw people fishing and catching fish in their nets. There was wildlife galore around the river. We then turned onto the Yankee Fork Road which is also next to the Yankee Fork, one the major tributaries to the Salmon River. While on that road, history of the gold explorations of the past became reality. Once at the cabin, it was everything and more we had hoped for. It was comfortable and true to the pictures on this web site. Many a night, we enjoyed the fire pit, roasting marshmallows. During our week stay, we were off driving our ATV’s exploring the mountains of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Yes, we would have loved to extend our vacation but had to get back to Arizona. We highly recommend staying at the cabin if you love the outdoors and love the comforts of home.

Took our teen kids and 78 year old dad up for four days in this awesome cabin on the Yankee Fork of the Salmon River. Was extremely comfortable... more like a two-bedroom home than a "cabin" actually. Full amenities, including a cute little bunkhouse out back for the kids (complete with Internet access, TVs and movies). We grilled fresh caught trout on the porch, then chilled out around the firepit in the front yard looking at the stars. Very comfortable sleep... this is the way to go if you want to play hard during the day and relax in style in the evening.
