Just an overnight but lovely and comfortable!

We passed through LaPorte on our way to N. Michigan for one night only, and this listing made it very reasonable to do for our family of six. The fees were very reasonable making it a better value than multiple hotel rooms. Claudia couldn't have been more gracious and we were able to enjoy the nearby main strip and Pine Lake views during our short stay. The house has been well restored and the kids found it very interesting. Enjoy!

Brought the grandkids to my homeland for the week. We did a lot of things in and around LaPorte most of which involved water but when I asked my oldest granddaughter what her favorite part was she said it was the house!

We stayed at this home for a long weekend to attend a softball tournament. Our group included my family with kids and my parents. The home was well appointed for all of us (however, the staircase is steep, which may be a challenge for older guests). The home is spacious with all amenities needed for a large group. Comfortable beds and bathrooms. We had a lovely stay. Claudia went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. She’s super communicative and made our check in and out a breeze. The home itself is in a lovely neighborhood with beautiful, historic homes. We enjoyed walking/biking the neighborhood in the evening. I’d highly recommend this home.

Claudia was the most gracious hostess. Her home was beautiful, clean, well stocked. I wished I had been able to stay longer. Quiet neighborhood. Bunnies and birds and I even saw a raccoon scurry down the street!! Close to everything. Old charm is so relaxing!!!

Stayed for a long weekend with my groomsmen/groomswomen for my wedding! The place was absolutely lovely. It was clean, the house is bigger than it seems in the pictures, and Claudia (owner) was super kind and thoughtful. She gave us a wonderful tour of the place when we first checked in and made sure we knew that if we needed literally anything, all we had to do was reach out. Definitely recommend!

Claudia was great and so accommodating for my family and I! We stayed the night for a nearby wedding we had and the house was great. Would stay again if we ever travel to the area again.

Claudia's place was the perfect spot for our annual family meeting, lovely living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. We enjoyed our stay and loved the history of the spot. Beds were all comfy and the home was clean and fresh for our arrival.

Manager was great and helpful. Home just needs some tlc…mainly finishing the renovations.

Claudia was a great communicator and basic areas of the house were clean. Other than that, we cannot recommend this property. The online photos were misleading. The air conditioner, dish washer, and bedroom TV did not work properly. The furniture was run down, the house was only partially painted and patched together with poorly done tile, woodworking and wallpaper. There was an odd musty smell that might have come from garage sale items everywhere, especially in the formal living room. My husband and I are experienced rental property hosts. Our opinion is that this old house needs a lot of work to justify the listed price per night.

Perfect for our needs
Host was great - communicated in advance of the trip and was available throughout. Was even fortunate enough to meet in person as we were slightly early getting in. House was as described in listing. Wish we could have enjoyed all the house had to offer - our trip was too short and our schedules too tight.

Southern Hospitality comes Midwest
To begin with, my wife is a doctor and I’m an engineer. We both come from very humble backgrounds working hard for all. With that said, we have stayed around the world at $500-1,000/day hotels that are 4-5 star where you have everyone tending to every step and property is worth millions. If you are expecting that, you need to put 500-1,000/day to find that. This property is like staying at your grandmother’s home where the property has been kept up well. The owner has thought of everything you will need and is available instantly. The place was very clean. Owner was very courteous to the point you felt like family. The place is spacious and had the WiFi needed to do business. Large yard, furniture outdoor to lounge outside. Grill. It was home away from home. Son 8 yrs old loved the house as well and we slept in peaceful very quiet neighborhood. Definitely would recommend you stay here.

Unique property and excellent host
Fun and interesting old house that our family enjoyed. Owner is an extremely welcoming and attentive host. Heads up that this is a 150 year old house that is still in the process of renovation and has a ways to go.

Relaxing Getaway
We stayed here for a couple of days so that our older son and his wife could join us and our other children for a day at the beach. We enjoyed the home very much. Claudia is a gracious host; she takes excellent care of her guests,

Great stay for a Girl's Weekend
The house was perfect for a Girls Weekend celebrating milestone birthdays and enjoying just getting together. We had fun playing games and sitting around having coffee in the morning at the huge dinng room table and sitting around having drinks and talking at night in the front room.
We enjoyed meeting Claudia as we had been communication prior to our arrival. She contacted me to see if there was anything special we needed when she shopped and gave us ideas for things to do while we were staying there. We ended up driving the short distance to go to New Buffalo to eat at the Bentwood Tavern and was lucky to be able to go boating. The last night we had dinner around the fire pit in the backyard and finished up making S'Mores. The house was a great place to relax, recharge and reconnect with long time friends which was really needed . The living and dining room was even large enough for a yoga class for 5 ! Thanks Claudia for the wonderful time.

Lovely stay with friends and family
This was a great spot to call home while we explored Indiana Dunes national park. This home has a well-appointed kitchen, with any tool you might need. This was perfect for our group- we successfully cooked three different meals simultaneously! The toddler in the group loved the children's books in the home. A great weekend stay!

Good location
We booked this house at the last minute because our other VRBO reservation got suddenly cancelled on us. Claudia was very easy to work with. The house was big enough for us and had everything we needed. The town was just a short walk away, and we walked it many times! Thanks Claudia!

What a gem
I used this place for a surprise 30th birthday party and it was absolutely perfect! Everyone could not stop talking about how “this place is so cool!” When you walk in the door you’re instantly transported to another time period, with inviting and comfortable furniture and decor, modern updates that make it easy to cook and have a place to relax, and so many things (books, games) to keep you entertained if you need to be indoors. The backyard was great with a fire pit that had wood available to make a fire. Claudia was such a great host! She was so warm and welcoming upon my arrival, and you could tell how genuine she was when she talked about how much she loves to do this. She gave a nice little history of the house, which made it even more memorable. Overall this is one of the best Vrbos I’ve been to, and will definitely be back! You will love this place.

Lovely Home
Felt like we were visiting relatives. Very clean and comfortable. Paint does need redone on porch. The house is currently being restored not completed. But nothing that would hinder you from a wonderful stay. Lovely home would definitely go back if staying in the area!

Very nice owner, well cleaned house
Small caveat: make sure you know what Victorian style is and that you like it! We didn’t quite realize and enjoyed our time anyway even though we were a bit surprised haha
