Good Location for walks
Little touches like milk bread and eggs left even though there is a shop a stone throw away. So very thoughtful.
Very well equipped,
No way to wash or rinse dog after walks without going downstairs to bathroom, but they're not allowed downstairs. Understandably as the stairs and carpets would get muddy but not sure what alternative there is.
Bathroom very cold.

Quirky compact and bijou character house, with both practicality and comfort. excellent location with a peaceful outlook over the river, away from the busy main road but an easy 20-30 walk into the bustle of Holmfirth either along the main road or the interesting riverside walk. This takes in a mixture of riverbank/ old interesting industrial units/ houses and nature.
The house has a basic but functional and clean kitchen, ideal for dogs to be kept separate. the lounge is comfortable, warm and has a great south facing view. The TV and wifi were superb. There was actually Netflix and Amazon on the TV which I’m not sure if they should’ve been accessible but they were!
the layout of the house is certainly quirky but as you’ll notice from other properties nearby it seems to been the style. the two bedrooms are downstairs in this one, the double being more ornate than the one with two singles in.The bathroom is great, again not elaborate but clean and perfectly practice. What does make it fun is the arched ceiling and short door to go in, brilliantly quirky.
The house was comfy, clean, warm and welcoming. The hosts provided a wonderful welcome pack of eggs, milk, bread, butter and jam. There was also tea and coffee there.
plenty of utensils, we made a curry one night. however there are good eateries very close by and loads in Holmfirth itself.
Nothing really, we thought it was excellent. Certainly good value. I suppose if you’re looking for a huge place then this isn’t for you, but it was great for us three and our small dog.
I guess some more outdoor space would’ve been welcome but you’ll notice that many of the other houses nearby don’t have too much either, so no complaints there really.

on the edge of Holmfirth itself, it is really easy to walk into town - a lovely riverside walk and great for the dog. Stunning scenery from the cottage and the Vineyard is a short (but hilly) walk. Tried food at the nearby Pickled Pheasant pub - that is well recommended and also a swift half at the Stumble Inn - great welcome including for dogs and the locals like a chat. the cottage is well serviced and has just what you need from a short stay. Its a lovely quirky cottage. The bed was amazingly comfortable
Nothing really - it is joined onto to another cottage so you could hear them walking on the stairs which sounded like they were in the same room but nothing that disturbed you at all - its the nature of how the old cottages are constructed.

the cottage is beautiful and spacious and has everything you could need provided
if only the outdoor space could be a little bigger, but with great local pub beer gardens and the Peak District on the doorstep it really didn’t matter

the cottage was cosy, well equipped and a unique layout that made you feel at home. on arrival the welcome tray was a lovely touch, dog friendly environment and with plenty of games to entertain my child it was a perfect stay.
the hosts attention to detail for provisions, made the stay relaxed and enjoyable.
after a few times forgetting about the doorway height adjustment to the bathroom I quickly remembered, however this was clearly documented before the stay and in the welcome pack.

The property is well equipped in many ways but equally missing some key things (space to get towels dried, colander, bath mat). plenty of parking and we enjoyed the selection of games.
There were two main things we didn’t like:
1) this is advertised as dog friendly, however when you arrive and read the information they ask you to basically keep the dog in the kitchen, if you have a dog like ours who is used to being with you this makes it quite stressful for the dog (and us).
2) we were greeted with a long list of of checkout requirements- I fully understand Covid and the need to strip the beds, but to have notes re not leaving anything drying on the sink as they don’t like doing the washing up and the cleaning deposit being held over your head it made the checkout process quite stressful and I felt like unless we basically did a full clean we would not get the deposit back.

It was a comfy place
Noisy upstairs, as is under another house, bath leaked constantly, pans all had burnt food on, and owners rude and stole deposit .I alao own properties and rent out and the place was left spotless. She took 100 pounds out of Booking.com to pay for some dirty glasses which were dirty when i moved in. And accused me of leaving wet towels on the floor with which I had to mop up the leaking bath!!! I am appalled she did not return this money and have reported it. I own 4 rentals and know this was left in good condition.

excellent breakfast tray with fresh eggs bread butter marmalade coffee tea sugar and milk in fridge for our use supplied by owners. beds very comfy slept like a log. location was excellent central to lots of areas from towns/cities to rural peak district. cottage very cosy lovely views from lounge and bedroom windows .
nothing no complaints

The surroundings were perfect a different walk each day. cosy warm and comfortable cottage to rest and recharge in. the cottage had everything you needed with a lovely welcome tray. friendly people around and helpful hosts.
although it was very quirky, a few bumped heads using the bathroom we are a tall family!

It was cozy and warm and well equipped, the bed was really comfortable. The hosts left local eggs, bread, butter, marmalade and milk for us. Claire, the host, was super responsive, helpful and clear. The fire was lovely, the Tv had all stream platforms, and the location next to the river/stream
We liked everything about the property . I guess the only thing was was slightly difficult for me was the small door to the bathroom because I had to bend to go through it and my back is pretty stiff so it was difficult. It wasn’t a negative though😊

I booked this cottage for myself and 3 bridesmaids as a base to prepare for my wedding. The cottage itself is superb and has all the homely comforts you would need for a weekend away.
The location is amazing, with picturesque, scenic walks right on your doorstep with local pubs and boutiques shops not too far away. We ate out at the local Pickled Pheasant as well as ordering a take out pizza from Holmfirth that was delivered to the cottage easily.
Alot of very fond memories, laughter and a few tears were shed in this little cottage and I will always think of my time here and smile as it was such a perfect weekend with friends after a very challenging past year.
Thank you to Claire, who was the perfect host!

Quirky little cottage

great location, quiet and easy travel to Holmfirth. Only 5 mins by car and bus stops just a few yards away up a small hill.
The only negative, and the only reason for not giving the rental top marks was the access stairs. They were uneven, worn, and a little steep, with a low handrail which was of little use. I found them difficult on a dark wet night, although in fairness to the owners they did provide a torch and warned in the description, however it was worse than I'd hoped. Difficult to rectify as the stairs are shared by several dwellings'
