About this cabin rental
Escape the hustle and bustle of city life, in this peaceful woodland cabin retreat. Just 1 hour from Seattle, this very private and secluded cabin in the woods is just a ferry ride away. Your vacation begins with a short 20 minute ferry crossing from Mukilteo to Clinton. You can feel the stress of everyday life melting away the moment the ferry leaves the shore. The perfect quick get-away to celebrate an anniversary, honeymoon or writers retreat.
The kitchen is fully stocked with small appliances; coffee pot, waffle iron, blender, toaster, crock pot, pressure cooker, iron skillets and large stainless steel pots for soup. There are plenty of utensils. The pantry is stocked with many staples, such as flour, sugar, coffee, teas, honey, olive oil, etc. There is a hot water dispenser lever at the kitchen sink. Great for a quick cup of tea.
The cabin can sleep 2-4 people, but is ideally intended for couples. There is 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed together in the upper loft and a comfy sofa in the Living Room. The bedding is new and soft. Plenty of fresh linens and towels are provided. Small shampoos and hand soaps are provided as well. Take a soak in the claw-foot tub during your stay. Bubble bath is under the sink. When the windows are open, it feels as if you are bathing in the midst of the forest. The only onlookers will be “Willow”, the mama deer and her fawn “Fern”. Ideal for bird enthusiast, and hikers. The movie "My Greatest Year" with Steve Martin is a great comedy that documents birding on the island.
Sip on a cup of tea in front of a warm crackling fire, by the large indoor rock fireplace. A fire is always prepped and ready to light upon your arrival. There is wood stacked beside the 'little people door' outside the living room. There is a gas grill on the outside deck. You are welcome to use it, or you can cook over the open fire pit. Smores’ are especially yummy at night. There are modified golf clubs turned into marshmallow roasting sticks available.
In the evenings, listen for the owl hooting to its mate through the trees. The cry of a majestic eagle as it soars overhead is always a memorable sound. When you are hiking the property to the State Park, see if you can find their nest very high up in the tops of 80-120 ft trees. They are absolutely amazing! In the morning, enjoy the tranquility of the property with a cup of coffee out on the front porch, while enjoying the small birds having their breakfast from the feeders. And it’s always entertaining to watch the playful chipmunks in a game of hide-and-go seek.
A bit of the cabin’s history:
This charming Log Cabin on 4 acres was built in 1902 by a ship builder and his three sons, in the midst of an 'Old Growth Forest. They used it as a fishing cabin. There was a fire on the island in 1910, but most of the trees around the cabin, and the cabin itself were spared. It was heated with a rock fireplace and an old stove that was built out of an expandable steel barrel, which is still on the property. When we purchased the cabin in 2007, the fireplace was falling in and had to be dismantled and rebuilt. A wonderful rock mason from Yugoslavia rebuilt it. Most of the stones came from an underground spring discovered on the island at the Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor. There are still several tons of rock on the property, which we hope to someday use to add a downstairs bedroom. There is a photo album in the living room containing many original pictures.
We tried to keep within the period of the early 1900’s in the kitchen. The stove is a replica of an old wood stove, but is actually electric. The old sink came out of a house in Seattle that was being torn down. What used to be a ladder to the sleeping loft is now a set of stairs made from the wood of one large tree milled on the property. The old loft ladder is now in the bathroom. It can be used to store suitcases above the washer and dryer. We have chosen mostly antiques for the furniture. They have a special charm and each piece has a story. There are many interesting stories about the cabin and various people who have called it home.
We hope you are blessed as you stay in our little cabin.

Everything about this place was exactly what we were hoping for. It allowed us to get away, disconnect and enjoy uninterrupted time with each other. We read books, sat on the porch, watched wildlife, made a fire outside and got great quality time. It's private, clean and feels like every inch of the cabin is made with love and purpose. The owner is an excellent communicator and was so kind whenever I reached out. She even mailed a special piece of jewelry we accidently left at the cabin. I have nothing but great things to say about this place

This sweet cabin is pure magic! Sitting in the clawfoot tub watching the birds at twilight! Napping on the bed swing on the porch! We even had a beautiful Barred Owl come visit the porch one morning! There fresh flowers on the tables and the pantry was stocked with staples for cooking. My family LOVED it!

This is the most magical cabin and land! We fell in love with the quaint cabin instantly! The land is so private and peaceful, all you hear are birds and the breeze. I didn't want to leave. You can feel the love that was poured into the building of this place. I am so grateful that we had the pleasure of staying here. We'll be back for sure!

We thoroughly enjoyed your rustic, cozy cabin. It was a very relaxing place to spend time and wonderful.that it is still in close proximity to hiking, towns, etc that Whidbey has to offer. Thank you.

This was the perfect cabin getaway! It’s a real, rustic warm and inviting cabin. It starts as soon as you open the door. It smells like a cabin in the best way. These best friends put blood, sweat and tears into making this place and it shows. These 2 ladies have attention to detail. There are too many things to list! The local artwork and things from around the island was a wonderful touch. They have made a scrap book telling the story of this cabin. They also have a list of wonderful suggestion for plavrs to visit on the island, places to eat, which beaches are the best etc. I’ve never gone on a vacation where I just wanted to stay there, not bother with leaving the premises. Sitting on the porch watching a myriad of birds come and go was amazing. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay here. Thank you for sharing the little cabin with us! We will absolutely be back!!

This was our second time to the cabin and it was just as good as the first. The cozy and romantic cabin is such a great and relaxing getaway from the huddle of every day. We will definitely be back again!

This was our 3rd visit since 2012 and was a perfect getaway for our anniversary. Tranquility, peace and quiet, privacy, fresh air, nature.. a meticulously stocked and decorated little cabin in the woods. We enjoyed a fire in the outdoor fire pit as well as inside in the fireplace during a rainy windy evening. So cozy! Comfortable beds and a lovely soaking tub. My favorite part is the front porch swing, a cup of coffee and the birds… truly a little slice of heaven. Thanks, LuAnn, We hope to visit again someday!

The cabin was very cute, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there. The ad stated that there were beds for 4, but one of the beds was on the covered porch. We made it work, however, and discovered some cushions for sleeping stored in the spacious bathroom.

We loved this cabin. It is both rustic and luxurious at the same time. If you’re looking for a special place this is it!
You do need to be able to climb steep stairs to get to the sleeping area.

Our stay at the cabin was absolutely amazing. We had a few hiccups but nothing that couldn't be easily fixed. We woke up to it snowing and it was like a fairy tale.

This is the perfect getaway. It's close to amenities but far enough out there to be away from it all. I'd live here if I could.

What an experience! Straight out of Hansel & Gretel fairytale! This cabin has everything you need to cozy up and enjoy nature. You are minutes away from great adventures on Whidbey Island. We loved the stairs and the catwalk to the bed loft! The front porch was so inviting! We highly recommend this wonderful spot!!!

This is an awesome find! We found the history-of-the-cabin book on the coffee table very interesting.

Truly the kind of place where you go to get away from it all. Old fishing cabin nicely updated, great fireplace, serviceable kitchen. Catwalk to the loft bedroom not for the faint of heart but overall a cozy stay.

Hideaway cabin
This is a beautiful cabin, perfect for 2. The stairs are more for young folks, as we are in our 70's and going down the stairs in the middle of the night is a bit of a challenge. The cabin is spotless... has charming touches.... the owner has taken great effort to make is so special! The TV remotes need to be repaired and easier to use, but overall was wonderful to be in this hideaway.

The Beauty and Peace I Needed
This was our second stay at Eagles Landing. It was just as beautiful as the pictures portrayed. We got to see the deer this time but I had no luck finding Mr. Hoot or the eagles. I did find a little pond on the property and walked the neighborhood which was gorgeous. It was cold while we were there but the cabin stayed toasty. The sun did come out and the locals stated they haven’t seen the sun since October so we were lucky! We hope to come back in the summer or early fall as I’m determined to find Mr. Hoot😂

Cabin lovers paradise!
Just the history of the cabin alone was alluring enough for me, but this place is incredible! From the photo album of all the years of love and hard work put into the place, to the well stocked pantry jic, this place covers all the little details for everything you need to forget about life for a while and stop worrying. -Close to town for groceries or goodie’s. Amazing fireplace and electric heat. TV has AirPlay and wi-fi worked great for calls/texts from my limited cell service. The loft was the coolest design I’ve seen so far, but know that the stair’s up are somewhat steep and may be a challenge for elderly folks. If you are stressed out and are reading this… book it now and add an extra day! The weekend wasn’t long enough :-)

The location is serene. The cabin is like a work of art. Every detail carefully thought out. Incredibly well stocked. Staying here feels like a warm, much needed hug.

Forest retreat
I have wanted to visit Whitney for a long time and the description of Eagle’s Nest sounded perfect for my little retreat. It was! Beautiful, quiet, serene and yet easy to go have a meal or scout out a cup of coffee where there was the buzz of othe people. It was just what I needed and I felt immediately comfortable and “at-home”.
Thank you!

Exactly what we needed
My wife and I rented the cabin for our honeymoon. It did not disappoint. Fantastic seclusion, cozy fires and a lot of curious wildlife. We will be coming back for sure!

Cabin in the woods
Loved up to its title of cabin in the woods. Far away from highways (2 miles), roads and neighbors. Quiet get away. Rustic but with all modern amenities. Only downer was every outing required a car ride on highway. Not conducive to road biking in/ out

A canopy of peace & quiet
Let’s just get straight to it…this place rocks! The draping old growth Firs, ferns, and beautiful foliage darken the property leaving streams of sunlight peeking through the elevated canopy of trees. My wife and I found ourselves standing outside the cabin for a moment before we entered just to take it all in. What a place! The cabin itself is exactly as we imagined. A rustic but very comfortable setting with a perfect collection of amenities. Although the stairs leading to the bedroom is more like a ladder, the handrails kept us steady except for a couple of midnight bathroom visits. There was a great library of local maps and other information along with directions for cabin operation. The smart TV is capable of hosting your streaming desires and the pantry is stocked with simple condiments. Travel to surrounding cities and villages is easy and there are plenty of wonderful restaurants. On most days the front porch and comfortable chairs served as our morning and eve perch. The squirrels, rabbits, colorful birds, and deer are the only residents within shouting distance of the property. Best of all…you literally can hear yourself breath it’s so quiet. Oh…beware of the little people door. It really is for little people!

The Best Cabin!
This was our second time staying here. This was for my birthday this year, and it was the best gift. Just as wonderful and relaxing as the first time a couple years ago. All the stress of busy life and adulting disappears here. Calm, relaxing and cozy. So many cute little touches that add to the charm. The porch swing is amazing, laying on it and watching the birds and wildlife. Took many naps on that swing, waking up refreshed before the afternoon. Hours in the evening sitting by the fire pit continued to melt away our cares. Complete rejuvenation. We will return again and again. Simply the best.

Peace and Tranquillity
My wife and I stayed at the cabin while visiting family. I used the location as a work-cation while my wife was busy and greatly appreciated the quick Internet. Very lovely setting and recharged with the tranquility. Would highly recommend if you want to recharge in peace and quiet.

Beautiful cabin in the woods! The sleeping loft limits the rental's accessibility to able-bodied folk, though very cozy and aesthetically pleasing!

Retreat Time
Such a sweet restored cabin in the woods. Was perfect for the 2 night solo time I carved out for myself. I loved reading by the fire and reading the history of the cabin. So many thoughtful amenities.
It reminds me of a cabin in Michigan my family once owned. These are so worth restoring.
I did have an issue with the hot water, I am not familiar with on demand hot water and could not get a "hot enough" bath. The water kept going luke warm even with only the hot water spigot on.
And I do believe a critter died under the kitchen as there was that kind of a smell on the first morning (and thereafter). I get how this happens, but it didn't help me want to stay in the kitchen and cook anything. Lucky I brought mostly ready to eat things.
Overall I had a very good experience here. A very cozy retreat spot in the woods indeed.

Quiet Getaway
I’m a teacher and wanted a quiet place to get away from the craziness of this last year on my spring break. This was the perfect answer to that! A remote and very quiet property with a wonderful, very old log cabin that was lovingly renovated to keep its charm. It was great for relaxing, reading a book and wondering through the woods. It also is a perfect place to come back to after exploring the beautiful Whidbey Island.

Amazing
What a special place! Very private as stated, which is not always the case. Loved the story of the cabin and the love and hard work that went into its restoration. Beautiful and romantic getaway. All the amenities and special touches makes this cabin worth going back to time and time again.

Owner not only provoded a wonderful Log cabin experience, but was such serene, private setting. The owner provided any amenity you could think of from toiletries to the kitchen essentials. Caretaker made sure there was plenty of kindeling and firewood chopped and ready for our stay. If you are looking for a Log Cabin experience like no other we highly recommend Eagles Landing!
