About this house rental
For travelers who are looking for an elegant and cozy, fresh and joyous home close to the wonderful beaches of Uvita, Alegria Tropical is your choice!
Private, secure and comfortable for four guests, this brand new home is located in the Coast-side village of Bahia, only 300 meters from the Playa Colonia entrance of the Marine National Park “Ballena”.
Its location right behind the beach forest of the National Park, less than 200 meters from the Ocean, provides a daily breeze and the constant magic sound of the sea waves.
The house was created according to a design of combined tropical colors that remind the Colombian origin of the owner. The sea breeze is reinforced by modern ceiling fans in the two bedrooms, the living room and the kitchen. A clear local ceramic floor completes the freshness of the design.
Air conditioning provides extra cooling in the two bedrooms. The queen sized beds are comfortable and equipped with 100% cotton bed and pillows sheets.
The fully furnished kitchen is nicely decorated with local coloured tiles. It forms a unique space with the living room, and creates continuity with the external garden and pool thanks to the multiple screened sliding windows and doors. You will enjoy the flat screen TV with Android connection on the comfortable sofa and armchairs, while chatting with your friends outside.
The bathrooms are brightly decorated and supplied with hot water system and “waterfall” shower. There is an alarm system and a security safe for valuables. Laundry room provides both washer and dryer.
The spacious external deck around the pool offers two comfortable lounge chairs, a large umbrella to protect you from the sun, and a BBQ for your outdoor cooking. Pool towels are provided. You will navigate on a comfortable high speed (fiber optic, 50Mbs) wireless internet, or just take a relaxing swim and lay, watching at the coastal jungle and experiencing the sight of a butterfly, the sound of a howler monkey or the view of a loud screaming pair of Scarlet Macaws!
The pool (6x3,5 meters) has internal stairs and a comfortable internal bench where enjoying the sunset with a fresh drink, and an outdoor “tower” shower. Bright illumination allows enjoying the pool at night.
The parking place is private, gated and lightened at night.
No 4x4 expensive rental car is necessary… The village of Bahia (an old farm that became a tourist destination after the national Park creation) can be also easily reached by public bus. It hosts all tour operators organizing mid-day boat tours of the marine park or daily tours to the more distant and spectacular Caño Island and Corcovado National Park. You can hang around walking or cycling, go to the beach and take a low-tide walk to the world wide known Whale’s Tail; surf a wave at Playa Colonia when the tide raises; rest in one of the local sodas and enjoy a fresh fried fish or a natural fruit juice; or just buy some food and be back home………all within few hundred meters from Alegria Tropical!

Loved the pool and privacy of the yard. The beach was a 10 minute walk away no big deal, not pretty and water was very mucky and daily fee to get on beach, not a plus.
The town of Uvita kinda dumpy. The towels, and sheets at the property need an upgrade, the beds were rock hard, so our backs took a beating. I had to buy hangers, as there were like 5 total, other than baby clothes hangers, not useful. Otherwise for the $ it was good.

The house was so cute! The pool was absolutely delightful! We spent one day just hanging out by the pool and saw a lot of cool birds including a Toucan and an Aracari. We could hear the howler monkeys in the distance. Minus the noise of some nearby construction, you definitely feel like you are in the jungle. It is also nice that the beach access is very close as well as two good supermarkets. We had everything we needed.
As we were about to leave, our car wouldn't start. The property management helped out and called a garage to come help when they couldn't get close enough to jump the battery themselves. That is true kindness! Thank you again! I hope to stay at Alegria Tropical again in the future. Pura Vida!

Easy to get to, great location within walking distance to beach. Communication and villa instructions were timely and very complete. Pool at the end of the day was fantastic. We loved morning coffee in the hammocks. Snorkeling at Cabo Island was amazing.

Home as described by host. Very clean. The pool was a great bonus, as were the washer/dryer. Would consider staying here again.

We enjoyed the ease of this simple, cheerful, little bungalow, reasonably close to the beach, and appointed with what you need. The plunge pool was refreshing on the terribly hot days we had during our visit. The bedrooms’ AC units worked well. Especially appreciated that each bedroom is en suite. Only thing missing was coffee:)

This was our first 4 nights of a 14 night Costa Rica adventure. 4 adults in all. Perfect location. The pool was wonderful after a long day. Loved the quick walk to the perfect beach with cute bars and restaurants along the way. Whale Tail beach is awesome. Waves from opposite directions and the water is bath temperature with no undertow along the entire area. The house is set on a dead end road with other nice houses. Felt very secure. Bedrooms stayed cool. Laundry was a bonus. The safe in the house was appreciated. The sound of the Howler monkeys each morning was wonderful!!! The McCaws are everywhere a well. Close to free and pay falls in the area. Just an hour or so to Antonio Manuel. Great grocery store 2 minute drive away. Will be back for sure!

We were at Alegria Tropical for three weeks. Loved the walkability to the beach and little places to eat. The house is as adorable as the pictures.

Alegría Tropical is a true gem, hidden from the busyness but super central. Walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants. Tucked away with a sweet pool and all you will ever need.

My family spent 6 nights here. We enjoyed the house. Strong wifi, air conditioning in bedrooms and nice pool were great. Not a bad walk to beach access, maybe 8 to 10 minutes. Beach access is to the national park, so there is a $6 per adult fee, but it is good all day. Beach was beautiful and not crowded. We also found some great restaurants in the area. Overall, we loved the property and would recommend it.

Perfect spot for our stay in Uvita
Property feels very private even though there are neighbors. We had everything we needed for our stay. We had some birds in the yard, and you could hear the howler monkeys in the distance as well.

Best location in all of Uvita
We loved staying at Alegria house. We played in the pool and went to the beach each day. Our favorite part of the house was the location. It’s on a quiet loop with a 5 minute easy walk to one of the best beaches we’ve ever been to. The sunsets were amazing. Oh and lots of monkeys!

The greatest of them all
We went to CR for 60 days. We stayed in FIVE separate homes with Alegria Tropical as our last before going home. It was the greatest. Had EVERYTHING!!! Close to the beach, animals all over, perfect size, and the pool to cool off because it gets warm in Uvita.

Special, unique, affordable vacation!
My family and I loved our experience. If you need anything, the owners respond right away. It was a short walk to the beach and easy drive to other fun towns and restaurants. I would absolutely stay here again. This is a special place and for a great price. Air conditioning in the rooms is so nice! Great if not renting a 4x4. The couches aren’t the most comfortable so if you plan on spending lots of time in the living room bring a sleeping bag. No big deal, still an absolutely wonderful stay. Thank you very much! It was a vacation I will never forget.

Wonderful 3 week stay
This cottage exceeded our expectations. The sun rises early here so it gets hot fast. Having a very clean pool to jump in 2 or 3 times a day was heaven. There are lots of restaurants, cafes and grocery stores that make Uvita the perfect base for exploring the southern Pacific coast of this beautiful country. If you are interested in seeing wildlife, we suggest an early morning selfguided walk on the trails of Hacienda Baru.

First trip to Costa Rica
This property was perfect for our stay in Uvita. We loved the layout, it was great for us two, but would have been just as good with two couples or a small family.
We had good information on how to circumnavigate the COVID 19 Beach restrictions, but it still took some getting used to. Diving and Snorkeling was not the best with the weather, but that was the time of the year. With all the wildlife, flocks of Scarlet Macaws, waterfall trips and even an iguana in the pool, we had a great time.

Lovely stay for couple and preschooler
This little house with pool close to the beach was a good fit for us and our almost-three-year-old. I didn’t think we’d use the pool, but we spent more time in it than at the beach! I took off one star for a minor housekeeping issue that was easily dealt with, but the house was clean and well-equipped. The neighborhood seems safe, but be aware there’s a lot of security if that’s something that turns you off. Lovely and easy stay, and we’d rent again.

The property manager was very efficient and the house was very well equipped. Unfortunately, without any warning, the local road leading to the house was closed for repair, and this proved to be a major problem when we were ready to depart, but the property manager was extremely helpful in helping us and refunded a bit of the rent as compensation for our inconvenience. The walk to the beach was about ten minutes, and there is an excellent Spanish restaurant nearby. We left the house before our contract was up because the weather was very wet, rainy and humid. This was unusual for this time of the year

What a clean and safe house. The pool was delightful. Plentiful hot water, great to have A/C in the bedrooms. So close to the beaches, restaurants, and a farmers' market. Perfect for two couples.

Uvita Paradise Getaway
We loved our two nights here. The house is small with a non air conditioned living room and two air conditioned bedrooms that share a bathroom between them. It's a 10 minute stroll to the beach and the whale tail is about a 30 minute walk up the breach from there.
When we arrived the house was spotless clean and ready for us to settle into. At night in the pasture next door there were fireflies. It just further set the excellent ambiance!

Great little property
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is adorable and well laid out. The only down side, and this I'm sure is temporary, is that there was a lot of construction near by that started very early. It cut down on the peacefulness of the house but like I said that has got to be temporary. The walk to beach is very quick and took us through the adjacent cow pastures, which I enjoyed. As we were there in the slow season the nearby restaurant and smoothie bar were closed but everyone said they were normally great. We found several great places to eat within about a 5 min drive. I would absolutely book this property again.

Jungle home steps away from the beack
This beach house is tucked away at the end of the street in a local neighborhood. Very clean, secure and well appointed. I would highly recommend. Note: while the property does have hot water it is in the kitchen sink only and not in the bathroom shower. A great getaway with complete seclusion yet close to where you want to be.

A beautiful beach bungalow just a short walk to the beach
We loved or stay at Alegria Tropical! It is a charming cottage full of windows and light. The pool was amazing to use in the early evening after a day at the beach. There is air conditioning in each bedroom which is nice for sleeping comfortably. Sonia and Massi were excellent communicators and provided not only great instructions on the house but so much helpful information on the area in the introductory letter. Staying there provided for a true Costa Rican beach experience and we can't wait to go back again!

Secluded and secure. A gem in rural Costa Rica!
The cottage and location were wonderful. Secluded, yet close to beaches and town. Everything you need to know is covered in the house instructions and very well thought out. All you need to do is show up and enjoy your stay! Only a few minutes walk to the beach with lots to see along the way. Birds and iguanas hang out in the trees around the cottage and you can hear the roar of the ocean while soaking in the pool surrounded by tropical plants and flowers.

Pura Vida
Everything at this place was heaven. Comfy beds, a/c in bedrooms, relaxing pool area, howler monkeys, parrots, hummingbirds, toucans, all so very enjoyable. They thought of everything (except an umbrella). Prepaid cell phone for local calls, wifi, even tv and a bluetooth speaker to listen to music from cell phone. Massi was responsive when we had any questions while at the house. Couldn't walk to the beach but did go every day. We plan to return again.

Colorful & comfortable home with a refreshing pool, close to the beach and wildlife all around.
We found Alegria Tropical to be the perfect spot for us. A short stroll through the forest gets you to the ocean and beautiful beaches. Quiet and peaceful, yet near town and great restaurants. All necessary amenities were provided. The kitchen was well setup for cooking at home. The A/C in the bedrooms provides a nice break from heat & humidity for those of us not yet acclimated to the climate. The pool and outside shower are a nice treat! Excellent suggestions, directions and thorough instructions are provided by Massi & Sonia. We walked everywhere, loved a dinner at Sabor Espanõl (magical) and enjoyed social meals & live music at Flutterby House. Iguanas, lizards, scarlet macaws and many other birds habitat this beautiful area. Pura Vida!

Clean Comfortable and Private Home A Short Walk to the Beach
We loved watching our daily visit from two basilisk lizards and the sounds of the surrounding wildlife. The house had everything we needed and more. Being able to do our laundry by machines on site was a big plus for us.

So THIS is what Pura Vida means???
Our stay at Allegria Tropical was absolutely amazing. Massi's directions from San Jose could not have been more clear and made for an easy and pleasurable drive. We loved stopping to see the crocodiles on the way and the folks at the info center were so helpful upon our arrival. The house is lovely and perfectly outfitted with the essentials - my husband and our 2 year old daughter spent nearly every minute that we weren't at the beach swimming in the pool while I spent hours reading in the hammocks. The walk to the beach was a delight - we were down there first thing every morning and watched every sunset there as well. We enjoyed a mango smoothie at Esmos (definitely stop to say Hola and have a drink!) Sabor Espanol was a delicious dinner on our first night and then we picked up grocery essentials and cooked for ourselves for the remainder of our stay - so easy with the kitchen materials provided. Thank you for an absolutely perfect trip - now we just want to plan our return!

Fell in love with this corner of paradise!
Wake up to the invigorating songs of birds outside our window, with the steady roar of the ocean in the background plus the howler monkeys providing a wake up call. The house has everything you need for a perfect home in paradise away from home. Short walk to the beach, with incredible panoramic views, and scarlet macaws flying overhead, perched up in trees, eating and drawing attention to themselves. It rained everyday but this did not stop our fun, the sound of the rain was refreshing and exciting! The house is super clean and well planned. We felt very safe and any local person we encountered seemed genuinely happy to see us and made us feel welcome. We will be back!

Private and comfortable
Our family of four spent a week in this little paradise and enjoyed every moment. The gardens and pool are very private and filled with hummingbirds and butterflies.
The home is very clean and inviting, full of color and light, with all of the comforts of home. Wireless internet was nice and our kids enjoyed being able to watch a bit of satellite tv as well. The beach is walking distance and beautiful!
We will be back.

Beautiful, comfortable, affordable 2 bedroom cottage
Four of us spent 3 nights at Alegria Tropical and enjoyed the stay very much. The facility is fantastic with air conditioning in each bedroom which made for comfortable sleeping. The furnished kitchen enabled us to make some of our own meals. The clean swimming pool was great for a late evening swim after spending an afternoon at the nearby beach We also really enjoyed our evening meals at Tabor Espanol, a restaurant only a 5 minute walk away. Some of us spend an hour each morning sitting by the pool watching the many birds in the surrounding trees including the Mandibled Toucan - so beautiful. If we ever get to this part of Costa Rica again, we will certainly try to book this cottage.

Very nice home, the pictures don't do it justice.
My husband and I have lived in CR for more than a year and stayed in many places. This home has been very thoughtfully put together.Other homes/cabinas have disappointed in one way or another, this home was better than expected and without the disappointment.
We brought my husband's parents from the States down and they were thrilled with the place. "I am really going to miss this little place," my mother in law said repeatedly.
Massi was very helpful and gave very detailed instructions on how EVERYTHING worked. Great stay!

Very private
Thanks for the wonderful space to enjoy few days of vacations. Our family of 5 have been in many places in Costa Rica and I think this may be our favourite. The house is perfect, pool and garden are very private and Uvita has been great to get to know a little.
Thanks again, we hope to be back!
