About this apartment rental
Relax in the sun on the beach; enjoy the waves and seagulls as they fly overhead. While luxuriating on the beach soak in the sights of the Manitou Islands (the lighthouse is lit at night!), the enormous Sleeping Bear dune, the billowing sails of yachts passing during the Chicago to Mackinac Race, and the great lake freighters making their way through the Manitou Passage. When staying at The Cabana you are welcome to use the beach walk over to Lake Michigan but you will not have access to the pool or other amenities.
Enjoy the early evening as the red sun slowly sinks into the blue waters of Lake Michigan. At night take your beach blanket and lie under the stars while listening to the gentle lap of the waves. From time to time you may see the Northern Lights! There are no lights at the beach to distract from the full majesty of the star lit night sky.
This air conditioned dream has a queen bed in the main room and a separate bathroom (shower only). The newly remodeled kitchen is fully equipped with a mini-fridge, stove top, all appliances and cookware, utensils, dishes, glassware and silverware. Linens and towels provided; you need only bring your personal effects and beach towels! New flat screen TV with cable TV and free Wi-Fi, too.
Enjoy coffee on the patio in the morning and wave to the kayakers making their way down the river while planning your day. Will you join them or pack a picnic for a leisurely day on the shore of Lake Michigan? You could take the M-22 tour and visit our sister communities of Empire, Leland, Lake Leelanau, Northport, Omena & Suttons Bay. All have their distinct charm with much to recommend them. Winery tours are an excellent way of seeing the county and sampling 'the grape' of some astonishing vintners. The Heritage Trail beckons with its 16 miles of paved hiking/biking/cross country skiing trails and you are minutes from the Dune Climb and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive with breathtaking vistas and welcoming picnic areas. Traverse City is only 25 minutes due east for a more 'cosmopolitan' experience but still with a northern Michigan vibe. And from gourmet to casual dining, there is something to tempt anyone's palate in Leelanau and Grand Traverse counties!
Go horseback riding, rent a boat on Big Glen lake, charter a fishing boat in the hunt for wild salmon, hike countless trails, pick some fresh cherries or blueberries, visit local farmer's markets, take in some live entertainment, try your luck at the casino, take in a movie at one of the last drive-ins in the country, visit the Manitou Islands via ferry, attend a local festival...the list goes on and on. There is something for every interest in our corner of Paradise!

Guests loved the location steps from Lake Michigan, the clean and cozy studio, easy beach access, beautiful sunset views, and responsive property managers.

We had a great week in this clean, well furnished, and conveniently located condo in the Homestead, Glen Arbor. Check in and check out were easy. The property manager provided clear directions for everything and helpful suggestions for nearby attractions, dining, etc. The beach access is a short walk, large, and clean. The property has secure parking and great walking-hiking options. Glen Arbor has a wealth of great dining, kayaking, biking, entertainment options with more wineries, distilleries, lighthouses, and Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dune within short driving distances. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Very close to the beach, a great place for a special occasion. Very clean and nearly everything you need. The grounds are very well cared for and are absolutely gorgeous. Nice little restaurants on site too!

Walk right out to the beach or to a shallow stream for kayaking or tubing. Small and functional studio kitchen. Great weekend.

Absolutely beautiful location. Have stayed at the homestead multiple times and never have a bad thing to say. This unit is small and quaint. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We were disappointed with the place because the mattress was worn out as well as the pillows. The top blanket and pillow shams were circa 1980’s. We don’t watch tv but it was the size of a computer monitor. A small couch would have been nice but the only other furniture was a small table and chairs. The patio had two filthy plastic chairs which we took a pass on. The place has great potential unfortunately investing in a good bed, bedding , furniture is not a priority. I’m sorry I had to write this instead of a better review.

We loved the location of the condo which was steps from Lake Michigan. Watching the sunset was a bonus each night. We had to unexpectedly cut our trip short. And I didn’t expect a full refund but a percentage back would have been nice.

Nice cozy place right on Lake Michigan. It's a small bare bones studio room with a bathroom/shower, but it suits its purpose and can't be beat for location. It was clean, well cared for and everything functioned perfectly. Property managers were great to work with. Had a small issue getting in the gate initially but they answered the phone immediately after hours and took care of the problem instantly.

Directions to the unit were spot on. The unit was very clean, quiet, and well appointed. Very short driving distance to Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Saw this studio unit for rent and it worked out great, communication was spot on. Place was clean and with the weather almost perfect we enjoyed our stay with no issues. If we plan a trip back we will definitely rebook.

Overall the property and location are great. We loved the fact that there was a walkout onto the beach area and very easy access to lake Michigan. Glen Arbor is a lovely town and we really enjoyed the wonderful restaurants and shops. The Michigan Chicken salad at Cherry Republic was awesome!!

Can’t beat the location and cozy spot for two!

We enjoyed our time on the beach.

We had a few extra family members join us at the Homestead and the Cabana worked out perfect to house our extra couple.

Staying at the Cabana was stress free and easy. Cute little place.

We had a good experience. Pros: Very clean, the unit is pretty updated (although the building is from the 70s), and the beach was less than a minute walk away. Cons: The door lock was tricky to lock and the bathroom closet door was broken. If you’re looking to spend a lot of time at the beach it is worth it.

Love the Homestead! My parents owned a Homestead property they stayed in each summer for years, and we have rented a few Homestead properties in the past. We knew this one was small but it was just what we needed. All was clean and the kitchen was fine to cook our breakfasts. Weather didn't cooperate for us but we still very much enjoyed our stay.

When I checked in and open the closet door to hang up some clothes the door Started to fall on me. I called the company right away and he said oh I’ll get somebody out in a few days. So I never hung up my clothes I never use that closet. That’s why I gave it a poor rating

We stayed 3 nights everything was sufficient. Large room, small table, basic kitchen. We needed for nothing. We were steps away from lake MI.
It was our first time using an airb&b rather than staying at the homestead. It was very nice.

This was a nice property and close to Lake Michigan with a beautiful beach. The property was neat and tidy and totally served our purpose.

Quick trip up north
Small but good for our needs. Good location for going to the beach.

Fragrance so strong we had to leave
We checked in later in the evening and quickly realized that there was a very strong fragrance in the condo. We knew we wouldn’t be able to sleep with it so we tried switching the blankets and sheets with new ones provided in the condo. The smell was still too strong and our clothes were then covered in it as well. We ended up searching for a hotel and driving 45 away. VRBO had us on hold for 20 minutes and then hung up on us at 2 in the morning so we gave up on that. The next morning we needed to either check out of our hotel or book another night and we hadn’t heard from anyone yet so we booked another night. Shortly after, the condo messaged and offered to refund one night and change the bedding. They explained that there was a strong bacon smell and they had tried to cover it up with fragrance (big red flag if you try to cover smells instead of cleaning). We explained that we had already tried changing the bedding and it didn’t help and had already needed to book another night at the hotel so we were at a least owed one more nights refund. We didn’t get a response after that.

like camping
no place to put your clothing, closet is full of brooms shovels (cleaning) equipment and winter bed stuff, same for the 5 shelf metal rag, which is full of winter bed covers or TV equipment. On the bed are senseless many pillows which have to go somewhere. Cleanliness???? Im still not sure why we have to pay $125.00 for cleaning. The stepping stones in the back are overgrown by weeds. This is way overpriced, for what it is....

The location was great for access to the beach and lake activity. It was nice to have the walkout option, but unfortunate that the lower level has no view of lake.

Close to beach
Small space comfortable for one. Contact person very responsive to concerns over condition of bed and linens. All very clean except bed. Good location, close to beach.

Great location, comfortable room
The location in the Homestead resort was great - just steps away from Lake Michigan. Room had everything I needed.

Great location!
We had a fun stay at this little studio on the Crystal River. It was cozy, convenient and clean. No frills but very comfy. We had a problem with the heat but the property manager brought us a space heater the next day and I’m assuming the heat/ac was repaired after our stay. I had some communication issues w the property manager but we reserved very late, and once we got each other’s cell numbers to text, she was very responsive.

A hotel would have been better. The TV is the size of a dinner plate, no tissue, no hair dryer. A college dorm Size refrigerator with no ice trays in the teeeny weeny freezer. All for a high price.

Perfect location!
Wonderful and quiet spot. Close to everything!

Cozy Cabana
My husband had a great time at the Cabana. It was exactly as described and so convenient for hiking, sightseeing, and just relaxing. We spent part of every day waking on the beach or the Homestead’s paved trails. While there might be a few things we would change- inside dining set and adding a dresser, we would still return again! We left very happy!

Amazing long weekend!
What a great property and location. Was just what we needed to explore Glen Arbor/Traverse City. Hope to return again one day!

Adorable
This was are second time staying here and we love it. The Cabana is cute and cozy. It comes stocked with everything that you would need. We highly recommend this place.

Homestead is a beautiful place.
Great little place.

Cabana
The property had everything needed. Bed skirt was dirty in 3 spots so it was promptly removed once reported but that exposed the dirt under the bed. Location is great being a minute walk to a nice beach but I wouldn’t describe it as a cabana. Hallway outside of the room had a horrible smell which seeped into the apartment and made our clothes smell musty. Shower is very nice.

Beautiful area
Loved the location. I had a very relaxing stay. Looking forward to next time.

Special Sunsetd
The location offered the best sunsets right outside the door to the water. Property is spectacular and the location near Glen Arbor makes it easy to access fun things to do.

Great Location and Price Point
Great Location & price point!! Launch kayaks right from the room to paddle the Crystal River or Lake Michigan. Unit could use some attention, bathroom fan crusted with dust, shower grout moldy. Metal mesh patio style set used for kitchen table, not comfortable, outdoor patio (2 chairs & small table) cheap plastic molded set, again not comfortable. Missing slats & broken blinds, compromised privacy, especially on first floor. --hung blanket that was in room to cover sliding door.

Very pleasant
True to advertisement.

Lovely place
The room was perfect, exactly as advertised, and the view out back was gorgeous. The team at VRBO was also excellent; I was in for an extended stay, and they checked in on me regularly, bringing me clean sheets and towels, and making sure the basic amenities were covered. The town of Glen Arbor is beautiful, as are the surrounding towns and dunes.
The one issue I had was not with the place or the company - it was the gnats. I didn't realize it, but in May they are almost unbearable, and this year was - according to the locals - the worst it's ever been. You really couldn't be outside or else you'd be covered, which made enjoying the beach all but impossible. That is the only reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 - if you aren't there in May, it's 5 stars all the way.
Other than that, I would highly recommend this place.
