About this cabin rental
Montana doesn't get any more real than this. We invite you to our secluded historic cabin 30 feet away from the Yellowstone River in the heart of Paradise Valley. Come and stay awhile, watch the river go by and listen to the sounds of the Yellowstone River's great birds moving over the river from the cabin deck. If you're quiet, you can hear the wind from their wings in flight just feet away from you.
You may want to play a little game of horseshoes before grilling up a good dinner on the barbecue grill. Toss in your fishing line from the property's banks or launch a raft and sail away. Or you could just soak up the sights and sounds until your appetite gets you moving to dine at Chico or the many other nearby dining choices.
The manicured mature trees and shrubs on the property provide an idyllic park-like setting. There is a fire pit and benches for a relaxing evening fire, long conversations and marshmallow roasting. Count on having an all-wheel drive vehicle for the driveway. It's a steep one!
Guests must have an all-wheel drive vehicle. The driveway down to the cabin is very steep. Front wheel drive vehicles do not have enough power to make it up the driveway. Owners can assist guests with non all-wheel drive with options to access the cabin upon request. Do not attempt to drive down the driveway pulling an RV, or trailer unless approved by owner first.

Quaint small log cabin right on the Yellowstone. Owners just up the hill happy to show the place and handy for any issues. Doe and fawn in the yard most mornings!

My husband and I had an incredible stay at Crabapple Cabin with our dog. The cabin was comfortable and welcoming, in fact we extended our stay 2 days after we just didn't want to leave! Jackie and Ralph were incredible hosts, communication was always very quick and easy.
The location is perfect, right on the river, and you can fish off the bank easily. There's also a public fishing spot a few properties down that gives more space if needed. Short distance to shopping in Bozeman, dining in Livingston, and grabbing coffee and pastries in Emigrant.
Tons of wildlife in the surrounding areas, eagles, elk, deer and grizzlies. Can't wait to come back!

We instantly fell in love with Crabapple Cabin! Just the right size for a couple, very private location, and the location is perfectly situated halfway between Gardiner (Yellowstone Park) and Livingston! Super and knowledgeable hosts. We will definitely return!

Relaxing, quiet, beautiful view, great location near where my son lives. My husband loved the fishing he usually uses a fly rod but was just fine with the poled. So quaint and adorable. One thing but not a complaint wished there was closet space. But over all a 10 +. We loved it.❤️❤️❤️

We are so thrilled we got to experience this slice of heaven on the Yellowstone river. Such an adorable cabin that made a journey to where it now sits so perfect on the river. Perfect distance from Livingston and the Yellowstone Park. Our trip was very adventurous starting with our first day being a day full of snow and then it tapering off to being an amazing 4 more days of gorgeous weather. My husband caught a brown trout and many white fish right off the banks by the cabin. We saw a variety of animals from Otters, Beavers, Bald eagles to your typical ducks, geese, hawks and many other types of birds. Ralph and Jackie were amazing. Ralph met us at the cabin to make sure that we could turn on the heat since it was a snowy day and talked with my husband to make sure that we were squared away. He also makes amazing wine!!! We didn't get to meet Jackie but she was in constant contact with us thru email and was kind enough to help us out when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin when we headed out super early to Yellowstone Park. The cabin is perfect for two people so if you are just wanting a getaway with you and your loved one it is perfect. We will definitely be going back. I 100% recommend this cute little gem in the woods. Thank you Ralph and Jackie

We loved the cabin - secluded, right in the river. We did need our 4WD to get up and down the hill! The beds were heaven - super, super, super comfy. Ralph and Jackie were wonderful hosts - even loaning us a cooler! We loved it. Would definitely go back!

Thank you so much Jackie and Ralph for sharing your cabin with us! We loved everything about the history of the cabin and how beautifully restored it was. The property is magical in every way. Being right on the river and having the ability to walk along the shore was everything we needed with the pups! We would love to come back!

We had a wonderful weeklong stay at this cabin. It was our first time to Montana, and wanted to be right on the river, and were not disappointed. The location was perfect, halfway between Livingston and Yellowstone Park. And not far from Bozeman.
The property is very private. The cabin is authentic, small, yet comfortable. (We were 2 adults and a dog.) The kitchen is a good size with everything you need, including a fairly large fridge. The bathroom is nice, although the shower is very small. And the outside deck is awesome.
You can watch, and hear the river, from the deck, which is very soothing. Or sit right at the riverbank and enjoy it up close. We'd see bald eagles, and deer came through the property in the early morning and late evening.
A couple of things to be aware of ... if you're coming in the summer, bring insect repellent ... and you'll need 4 Wheel Drive or a capable AWD vehicle to get down to the cabin. The gravel road is very steep.
All in all, it's a great property, and one that we will want to come back to.

This cabin was small and quaint and was perfect for our family visting Yellowstone National Park. The property is immaculate and you are literally on the banks of the Yellowstone river, so fly fisherman take note. Its about a 30 minute drive to Gardiner and the north entrance to Yellowstone. The views from paradise valley were amazing during sunset while sitting by the river. Highly recommended A+++

My wife and I chose to visit Montana for our honeymoon and found the listing for this wonderful little cabin. We couldn't be happier with it. When we arrived, Jackie and Ralph were just so kind and friendly. They are great people. Ralph showed us the cabin, even though he was still recovering from knee surgery from just a couple weeks earlier. He made sure we knew where everything was. The cabin is literally a stone's throw from the Yellowstone river. It's less than 100ft away. While we were unloading our luggage, 2 whitetail doe's pranced through the yard right past my wife. She was beaming with joy! I hope that we can stay here again in a few years! Thanks Ralph and Jackie!

My granddaughter and I stayed there for 4 nights. The area is just gorgeous and peaceful. The inside of the cabin is so cozy and the owner made us feel welcome too.

Best snug cabin after exploring Yellowstone!
Loved the adorable Crabapple Cabin for its size (perfectly snug) and location to go into Yellowstone National Park. Loved the cozy bedding, and tidy layout. Enjoyed learning about the cabins journey to its current beautiful location. Will definitely stay here again on any visit to Yellowstone!

Amazing!
This cabin is quirky and small but it adds to the charm. Feet from the Yellowstone River and half way between Bozeman and Yellowstone's North entrance. It's quiet and tranquil. My husband was able to work remotely and fished on his breaks while I hiked along the river and read at the bank. We mostly cooked at home but there's plenty of places if you want to venture out to eat This trip was peaceful and restorative!

Idyllic Hideaway in a Beautiful Location
This is a great cabin on the Yellowstone River filled with charm and history. And it is a terrific location. Right on the river and within 10 or 15 minutes of Chico Hot Springs, a great barbecue place, a wonderful restaurant at Sage Lodge, and a nifty little grocery store at the Sinclair Station. There was a snow storm warning so we went into Livingston and bought groceries and wine and cards. It didn’t turn into much of a storm but we loved just hanging out in our cabin playing cards and then going out for a walk along the river. We met Ralph who is full of information and fun.
Thank you both so much!

Crabapple Cottage
Great secluded location and clean, neat and ready to go. Could have used more closet space but don't let that keep you from booking. Loved it!

What a gem
Perfect location to enjoy peace and quiet. Good fishing right off the bank! Check out the Outpost restaurant - went there 2x and it was great.

Almost perfect.
The cottage is a beautifully designed improvement of an old Yellowstone Park employee’s cabin, the setting is serene, the views a joy, and the wildlife a delight. (We saw deer, an osprey, turkeys, magpies, and a variety of smaller birds, and listened to an owl.) The driveway is indeed steep, but our Subaru Forester had no problem with it. You have to duck going in and out of the house if you stand taller than 5'9", the shower stall is cramped, and the largest bed is only a double; but if you don’t mind those minor flaws, it’s very near to heaven. We’d gladly go back!

Comfortable Cabin on the Yellowstone River
Small but cozy and comfortable cabin on large parcel right on the Yellowstone River. Everything was nice and clean except for the excessive bugs in and around the cabin. Not much can do about that I guess. Lots of wildlife on the grounds and lawn area well maintained. Parking is uncovered on grass lawn.

Best of both worlds.
Quiet, serene settting on the bank of the river with everything we needed after fishing all day to relax in chairs over looking the river, repack gear on the deck, and cook dinner on the grill. And anything else we needed was only a few miles away in Emigrant. These hosts to a great job. We will be back.

Anniversary Vacation
Everything was very nice but I would recommend a couple of bug zappers as bugs would get into the cabin daily. Also the shower is very small so it might be helpful to disclose that.

Relaxing and peaceful
The cabin is on the most beutiful piece of property. The views from the edge of the river are serene. You will 100% need a 4 wheel drive, which the owner is very clear on the necessity of such a vehicle. The drive down to the cabin is steep. Close to the Old Saloon (live music), Chico Hot Springs, Pine Creek Lodge (live music and food) and Follow your nose BBQ and Wild Flour Bakery. I also rented a SUP and went to Daly Lake which is not to far from the cabin.

Peaceful & Quaint
Overall, our time at the Crabapple Cabin was amazing. This was a great location to stay at as we traveled to Yellowstone National Park. We truly enjoyed the serenity of the river and the trees around us as well as the fire pit for our cook out nights. It was a great place us to make memories! We could not have asked for a more enjoyable place to stay.

Charming!
This property is fantastic! The cabin is very charming, very small but cozy. We brought our dog George and he loved the property. It was great to have coffee every morning watching the Yellowstone River. I got out on my bike two days, very enjoyable country road rides. We did make a trip into Livington, Neptune's is an excellent restaurant! We did a few restaurants in Pray and they were all great. Will certainly return to this one!
