The house had enough space for our family of five to both spend time together and spread out. Mt. Gretna community is very friendly and it was nice to get around without having to drive. There is a lake, icecream shop, and even a tiny kid library within walking distance. The inside of the house was clean, but the porch looked like it has not been touched in a while. We ended up cleaning it ourselves, so that we could enjoy that (very large) space. There was also no working coffee maker and the garbage/ recycling was not taken out for quite some time. I am hoping that the management company will address these few things promptly. Overall we had a nice stay.

Nice property, beautiful porch and most of the things we needed. Only complaint was parking not designed for anything but compact cars and there was no curtains in bedrooms to help block early sun rise. Most appliance were ava that were listed except the crockpot and blender.

Went with family in September to the renaissance festival and had great time. This house needs more than a thorough cleaning. Neighbor indicated owner has 2 big dogs. A quick vacuum and Febreeze does not constitute cleaning when urine stains are on the floor coverings and heavy dog dander is on the couch. Just went to another dog friendly VRBO and no sign of previous pets. We had to put the full vacuum cleaner out on the porch. As you walk up the stairs and get nose/floor level, urine again. We are not talking about 'that old house smell'. Would have also liked to have had some kind of window coverings on the downstairs windows. Don't like giving bad reviews so waited till we went to another VRBO. No comparison. Rug + couch needs professional cleaning or replacing. Cannot in good faith recommend this cute old house to others, sadly.

This is our second stay at this property. It is located between Harrisburg, Hershey, and Lancaster, which is a great location for us to meet up with various family. We took a walk thru the Mt Gretna neighborhood and walked down to the lake. Nice informal, casual surroundings.

The property is a charming cottage in a unique neighborhood. There are lots of neighbors close by but everyone we encountered was very sweet. The house was cozy and well equipped with kitchen supplies. I found it a bit odd that we had to supply our own linens and paper products, but that wasnt a deal breaker. The check in process was very different to me, having to go to a seperate location to retrieve the key. When i punched the address into the gps it took me to a different house but everything was numbered and it wasnt too hard to find the correct place. It was walking distance to a breakfast place and a restaurant/bar, which was very convenient.

The house has great character. I booked it for myself and invited some friends to the faire & to stay. There ended up being 6 adults ages 30-45. We had plenty of room to spread out comfortably. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the kitchen was stocked with pots & pans & utensils. Parking was easy in the lot next door. I packed my own sheets, pillows, comforter & blanket. The house was a little damp but makes sense because of the tree covering around.

I feel bad for the owner posting this, but they need to know that their property is not being cared for. The realty company obviously had not even visited this house before we arrived. There is some work being done to the house. The porch dining table & chairs had tools, paint and spackle cans, etc on them. We spent most of our time on the porch, but had to clean the table chairs, couches, etc because it was all filthy & covered with pollen, pine needles, etc. The inside was also dirty - floors dirty, cob webs, window sills & baseboards covered with dust. I was disappointed to find only one dish cloth and one dish towel in the kitchen. Then, on the last day when we were cleaning up to leave I found all the dish towels in the washer, unwashed. We had to turn on the water to the washer to wash them all.
This would be a great house with a large, well-furnished porch if only it was clean. We have rented many houses in the last 30 years, and never one this dirty!

Check in/out was very easy and straightforward. The house was clean and very cozy, the surrounding community is also very nice! Would recommend to friends and family!

Disappointed in the parking. Was told there was 2 car off street parking. Had trouble parking our 1 vehicle. There was parking at church lot, however 1 night there was no spaces available.

Beautiful is an understatement. This cottage was an amazing find for a weekend trip away to the area. The environment you will find yourself in is like that of a storybook. You will be taken to a magical forest that is quiet but inviting. Overall the location in the woods is what put this place above and beyond. Such a friendly place to spend a quite and peaceful short or long term vacation. Great location to local attractions and the beautiful forest of PA. We will be back to explore more.

We were visiting family during the thanksgiving break, who lived just down the road, so the location was just perfect. The property was as described. It is a “ cottage” and has that feel. Kitchen work space is small but well stocked.

This property was absolutely perfect for a weekend friends trip to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. It was scenic, quiet, and rejuvenating along with being very comfortable and affordable! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to book again next year! Everything was very comfortable and we had absolutely no problems with any process or request as far as the property went. The local breakfast place was a delight, and it was conveniently located. A+ property.

The house was mostly clean, which is a bonus. The house was so full of nick knacks everywhere. We hardly unpacked due to the fact we were afraid we would leave stuff behind accidentally. The beds/mattresses are very cheap and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this house.

The property was quite nice and the neighborhood peaceful and quaint. However, it's location, although great for a lake focused trip, was not as convenient to a golf focused weekend, the planning of which being my fault. Finally, the weather caused us to cut our stay short, leaving Saturday instead of Sunday. Had this been a weekend of my musician friends, the lovely enclosed and rather large porch would have rendered the weather insignificant and the weekend a more phenomenal.success. Oh well, it certainly wasn't the fault of the property.

Upon checking in, realized beds are not as described. 3 bedrooms each with a double; no twins, no pull out sofa. So sleeps 6, not 8. Tried to contact rental office to ask if we were missing something and no one ever responded the entire time we were there. Bed situation was not desirable for us, as we are a party of 6 individuals, not 3 couples ( wanted more separate beds). Not to mention we brought the wrong sheets with us as a result of incorrect description. Brought the wrong coffee too because there is a Keurig on-site , not a coffee pot as described. House was clean and porch was amazing, but don’t think we would stay again due to non-response. Also as an FYI, the toilet seat in upstairs bath is broken.

Great stay overall!
This was a great cottage in a wonderful Mt Gretna location! Well-maintained, beautiful porch, comfortable areas to spend time in. Our only issue was that the number of bedrooms was incorrect in the listing, so just double-check that it will meet your needs (at the time we booked, there were 4 BR listed, but only 3 BR when we arrived, which caused a scramble for our group). Overall great stay!

Quiet, peaceful community
Beautiful porch. We spent all of our time on the porch. Bed were comfortable and the place was clean. I little musty smelling but leaving the windows open took care of it. Great place for the price.

Rustic cabin in Mt Gretna
Loved the giant awesome porch. Having a comfortable house with good internet connection is mainly what we want, and that's what we got. We bought new pots and pans because the ones there are a wreck. The location across from the United Methodist Church is not ideal if you want dead quiet, but it was still very quiet at night and we didn't have a problem. All in all, a very successful stay. Thanks!

If this were my home, I'd be pleased. Bathrooms are in good condition. Laundry is great. Kitchen is all we needed. We cooked most of our meals. The porch is wonderful. Wide eaves protect the porch from rain, so you can sit outside during evening thunderstorms. New windows work well. The heat and AC system worked well. My bed was firm and flat, just the way I like it. The home was clean. What would I change? The pullout couch in the living room was falling apart. It should be replaced. And some throw pillows in the living room bay window smelled of mildew. They should be tossed. Minor issues easily mended. I would rent this home again.

Served my perpose well for a ladies weekend.

Driving up to the house, you see a very unique neighborhood. Each house has its own character including this one. There is a great wrap around porch that greets you upon arrival. But once you step into the house, you can smell the musty odor. The upstairs needs to be painted white to lighten it up. One review said it was like camping. It may be like that because you have to provide liners and clean the house before departing. With a few updates and decluttering of the kitchen, this home can be “Bright and cheery”.

The house itself is very quaint, however, the musty/moldy smell was overwhelming.
