This Long Beach Island, NJ vacation rental in Ship Bottom is the third home from the beach and offers magnificent ocean views from the living room, front deck balcony and kitchen, and ocean and bay views from its rooftop deck. It features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an outdoor shower, living room with 75 inch flat screen TV, fully equipped kitchen, high-definition cable, high speed internet, washer/dryer, off street parking and two zoned central air conditioning and heating. It is located on a wide street with ample parking and is only 2 short walking blocks to the Barnegat Bay Watershed and nearby Marina. Swimming, sunbathing, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, jet-skiing and more are all just literally steps away, as is many of Ship Bottom's family day vacation conveniences, including two miniature golf courses, a small arcade, bakery (that boasts the world's best jelly doughnut), ice cream, candy, pizza, bagels, shops, cafes, restaurants and, for the ultimate convenience, a nearby Dollar General store.
So, come and indulge yourself and your family this summer with a beach vacation to Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island (colloquially known as LBI). This narrow 18 mile barrier island off the New Jersey coastline boasts some of the most naturally beautiful beaches on the east coast, as well as hundreds of boutique shops and fine restaurants. Recently, LBI was ranked the 4th most ritzy summer locale in the country, behind only Nantucket, a tiny island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Martha's Vineyard, and Montauk, Long Island (August 2022). The island is almost always the coolest of all of New Jersey's barrier islands on hot summer days due primarily to its location. It is approximately 30 miles north of Atlantic City.
LBI operates a free shuttle bus service, seven days a week, from 10 am to 10 pm, servicing all 18 miles of the island.
Vacationers looking for a break from the sand or the surf can spend a day doing other fun things. Travel to the north end of the island and sight-see Barnegat Lighthouse State Park or shop Viking Village. In Beach Haven to the South, one can take their little ones to the Fantasy Island Amusement and Water Parks, experience the Black Pearl Pirate Excursion, or visit the Museum of NJ Maritime History.
In the evening, one can quietly wind down and relax on one of the two outdoor decks while listening to the waves of the ocean crash against the surf, or enjoy many of the island's nightlife spots, including Joe Pop's (walking distance), Terrace Tavern and Nardi's Tavern & Grille.
This home features a master bedroom with a king sized bed, a second bedroom with two twin beds and a third bedroom with two sets of twin bunk beds, comfortably sleeping 8. It is perfect for one large or two small families. This home was not flooded by Super Storm Sandy. It was fully renovated with new furnishings in 2017.

We had a fantastic stay at this rental! Ron was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout our visit. The location was perfect, allowing us to easily explore the area. What a peaceful week! Quiet street so close to the beach it was almost too good to be true! Walkable to so many things.

The house was beautiful, clean and in a perfect location just steps from the beach. The roof top deck was a great place to have your coffee watching the sun come up in the morning. Ron was a pleasure to rent from and I will definitely rent this house again. Can't wait to come back again!

Though the weather wasn’t good during our stay, we can’t say enough good things about this beach house. Super close to the beach. Very close to the bridge to the island. Walking distance from Ferrara's Island Bakery for delicious Jelly Donuts. Close to shops, restaurants, church and retail. Roof top deck (in good weather) is amazing. Light switches and cabinets are clearly labelled. Owner very responsive to questions via VRBO app. Would stay again.

Everything about our weekend and stay was absolutely perfect! The house is just what we had hoped for and cannot wait to come back! Thank you, Ron for letting us rent your beautiful home. My husband and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at “Third From The Beach” which is really “Third From The Beach.” As accurate as the listing was the in-person is even better.
The first thing we noticed, besides the beach, was how immaculate the house was and from there nothing disappointed.
The house is beautifully decorated and filled with all the amenities needed. The living room has comfortable couches, large windows that let in great light and a balcony where you can sit and have coffee. The kitchen is well appointed plus amazing views of the bay and ocean. Bedroom and bed very comfortable. And the rooftop deck, even in November, was a wonderful place to stargaze.
The location couldn’t get any better. The house is on a pretty residential street close to beach, bay, shopping and restaurants.
Don’t think you could get a more gracious host. Ron was immediately responsive to all of our inquiries and was warm, friendly and extremely helpful.
No question we will be returning to “Third From The Beach.”

Ron was great as far as any information needed, even though everything was as stated in description on VRBO.
Location right in Ship Bottom was great, and very short walk to the beach. The best for us was the rooftop deck! Awesome view, and pleasantly surprised there was the kite festival on same street , which we could watch from rooftop. Will definitely stay again.

Ron and Kathleen were wonderful hosts. So accommodating to our schedule and even extended our checkout so that we enjoyed a beautiful day on the beach. The house was clean, organized, and in a perfect location on LBI.

This house is perfect. The close proximity to the beach makes it the perfect getaway. We had amazing weather, except for some rough surf but water was still warm and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. The beds are very comfortable and the views from the decks are impressive. The kitchen is well equipped and I loved eating breakfast and seeing the ocean. The location is great. Walking distance to everything. 3 blocks to Ferrara’s Bakery which is the best bakery on the island. We would definitely stay there again.

Ron was quick to respond and book our last minute get away to LBI. Check in was quick easy and we found the home exceptionally clean upon our arrival. Location was perfect, as we were able to walk to nearby shops, restaurants, ice cream and a liquor store just s block away. We especially enjoyed coffee and dinner on the rooftop deck with a beautiful view of the ocean. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend! Thank you Ron.

Beautiful home and great location! House was immaculate when we got there and only 2 houses down from the beach entrance. Walking distance to food and shops. Our favorite part of the house was the rooftop deck. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing from there!

We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful home. The views of the beach from the kitchen, living room and decks were gorgeous, the home was beautifully decorated and was immaculate, and the location was amazing (close to the beach and bay). The home had all the amenities we needed for the week and the owner was quick to answer any questions we had.I was so sad when our week was over. Can’t wait to visit again!

Lovely house, great location - nice rooftop deck. Lifeguards are at the immediate beach through Labor Day. Afterwards when the towns pull back on some guarded beaches, lifeguards are a ten minute walk on beach from house. Nicely located for shops and restaurants too. Ron was very responsive, reached out to us and let us know we could go early (thanks Ron)! Would definitely rent here again

We could not be more pleased with our stay! The home is absolutely beautiful and our experience with the owners was perfectly positive. We spent lots of time on the home's two decks. The view from the roof deck is stunning. The home is immaculate, updated and beautiful. We look forward to a future stay!

Beautiful house only steps to the beach!
My family and I stayed for a week at this rental and absolutely loved it. We have been coming to LBI for years and this is the first time we stayed in this area on the island. It was fantastic having so many places to walk to! There are restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in walking distance (with outside seating)! The owner was wonderful and checked in with us prior to the trip and after. We only had one question we reached out about and he got back to us right away. The house felt clean and we were very comfortable. Our favorite spot was the rooftop and we went up every night. I would definitely recommend this rental and look forward to going back.

Ideal beach house
We had a wonderful time at this house. It is in a great location and has everything we needed for a great vacation with our 2 small children. Everything is within walking distance - pizza, ice cream, mini golf, bakery for breakfast, ship bottom shellfish and of course the beach. Can see the sunrise and sunset from the front and back of the house. We loved it.

Perfect location!
My family and I enjoyed our stay here immensely. It is a perfect location, walking distance to almost everything and just 3 houses from the beach! The rooftop deck is the very best part of the house where you can see the ocean and bay. We hope to be back next year!

A week in LBI
The house was very clean and spacious and worked out well for our 4 and 5 year old grandsons. What amazed me was that there was a TV in every room of the house. I found this to be a great attribute should there be a few rainy days during the vacation. Ronald stayed in touch with us through texting during our visit which made us feel very comfortable. The washer and dryer also helped out a great deal with the boys changing so often. The outside shower was excellent along with a side house to get all of that beach sand off of everyone. We would definitely book this house again in the future.

Our LBI 2019 Vacation
The property was great, location was great, beach and weather were great. Ron the owner was so nicer and answered all questions extremely quick. If there was one small thing missing was maybe a bit of shade on the rooftop ( an umbrella) other than that it was outstanding.

We never stayed in Ship Bottom before. It was great! The house was beautiful, clean and so convenient. Great views from the family room, kitchen and decks! We hope to be back!

Great Family House
This is our second year with family including 2 13 year olds and a seven year old. The house’s location, with the beach so close is perfect. Even early in the year the volley ball costs were up and the sand was maintained and ready to go! The full grocery store is within a pretty close drive but there is a Dollar General to help with any last minute items needed within a short walk as well a a souvenir store and ice cream and candy shops. For the grown ups there is a liquor store on the block as well if adult beverages are desired. The neighborhood is quiet peaceful and safe. In the house everything you would need to cook and grill is as provided. Since the grill is hard wired there is no need to lug propane or charcoal around. The showers stayed hot with good water pressure. The whole family enjoyed every level of the home, using both decks to soak up the ocean air. Everything worked without issues and the owner is always available for questions or issues! It’s a great place to stay, we highly recommend it!

This home is so close to the beach it was very easy to enjoy with 5 year old and infant grandchildren. House made great use of space and we all had plenty of room to enjoy extended weekend. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Views of the ocean from kitchen, living room and the fantastic roof top deck. We got to enjoy a sunrise just from the living room and deck off living room. Would defiantly recommend!

I can not say enough good things about this house and the owner, Ron. The house was so beautiful and clean. You can tell it was recently renovated, but also very well taken care of. I loved that cabinet shelves and drawers in the kitchen were labeled with its contents. It was very organized and well stocked too. The top deck was one of my favorite spots of this house. It not only had beautiful furniture, but also nice views... and a great breeze...perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks! The beach is so close we didn't even have to put sandals on! Ron, the owner, was so very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with! He was very accessible. Any questions I had were answered almost immediately and I was confident that if there had been any isssues during my stay, he would have been available to address them right away. I would DEFINITELY recommend renting this house!

Exactly what we needed!
This is a great property steps from the beach with well appointed interior and exterior living space. Honestly, this was our worst experience down the shore (weather-wise) in as long as we can remember. This property helped keep us there for the week! Although our time outside was limited, the time we did spend outside was memorable and exactly what an oceanside rental should be. Comfortable furniture, clean and updated kitchen/baths, central air, HDTV in every room - truly a "Class Act" rental. Also, a special thanks to the owner for providing responsive communications! Can't wait until we return. Thanks for a great rental!

Perfect Oceanside Location Outside, Perfect Amount of Space Inside!
Our visit consisted of three adults and three children ages 12, 12, and 6. This was our 5th stay on the island and due to this house, the trip was the smoothest, most convenient yet! Inside, there was enough room with the roof top deck, separate balcony and the two levels of living for everyone to eat together and play together but separate when desired. For lazier days, the smells, sounds and views of the ocean were easily accessed just by walking up stairs to the deck. The kitchen was organized and had all the pans, pots, utensils and appliances you could need. There were plenty of extra pillows and the beds were all comfortable.
Outside, parking was easy. The proximity to the beach was amazing! With younger children trekking back and forth to the beach and house has been a chore in the past but not here! In addition to beach proximity the location was good for walking to ice cream, candy, food, souvenirs, restaurants and Dollar General for anything else you might want or need.
The owners communicated very clearly and quickly and were very informative and open to any questions or concerns. We would highly recommend this house and will be staying again ourselves!

Amazing views, clean and well maintained house. We will be back!
We had a great time at this house. The reverse living is ideal and gives you beautiful views of the ocean and the bay. Everything is within walking distance. The house had everything that we needed and it was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed many nights on the roof and cooking out. The grill was fantastic and now my husband wants the same one. :) We would highly recommend this House.
