Rented this house for my extended family for my daughters wedding weekend they raved about the house. They were absolutely thrilled with the the rooms all the cozy spaces and the location to town couldn’t have made a better choice!

We stayed for Memorial Day weekend, and it was a wonderful experience. Excellent location across the street from 3 restaurants and within easy walking distance of all of the shops downtown.
Cute screened in porch and private back yard with birds, flowers and a bunny that visited every day.
Unfortunate truck noise outside between 5:00-6:30 am 2 of the days. Not sure if that happens every day or was just a fluke.
Kitchen was nicely appointed with high end appliances and plenty of glassware and dishes. Excellent communication from the host whenever we reached out.

Beautiful, historic home located steps from everything downtown has to offer, with a very well stocked kitchen and fantastic screened in porch (where we spent much of our time!). We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate my son’s law school graduation.

Very, very clean house with everything you need to cook including a Thermador stove. Restaurants are steps away and include Sushi, Pizza, Greek and Bar food. Beds are very comfortable and bedding is lovely patterns. Dog friendly home with fenced in yard in back. Close to VMI and Washington and Lee universities.

A wonderful home in a great location.

This house was a perfect setting for wedding prep. We stayed there with family. The dining room was perfect for having hair and make up done- out of the way from foyer and kitchen areas so other guests not in the way of day of wedding prep. Kitchen is large and great for entertaining. Each guest room has a bathroom and upper level rooms allowed privacy from the main level. Very clean and we also enjoyed the very lovely screened in porch. Close and within walking distance of our venues. Our stay couldn't be more perfect.

We rented the house this past weekend for a family wedding and couldn’t of been happier with the accommodations. Staying in a historic home in downtown Lexington was just perfect. You can easily walk to the restaurants and shops, as well as to the universities. We would definitely stay here again!

The property is very well layed out and thoughtfully appointed to be very comfortable. The location near town is extremely convenient, and invaluable to be able to walk to and from Washington & Lee events. The 3 parking spots behind the house are a big bonus.

The house is right on the edge of downtown. There is a pizza restaurant right next door. There was some noise from there at night but not too late. It was graduation weekend so there were also some house parties going on in the neighborhood. Our only issue is that we were never able to contact the host either during or after our stay.

We found this property to be clean and very well stocked with necessary items. The kitchen was well equipped! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. It was good to have the one downstairs suite for an elderly mother. The rooms all flowed well for a gathering we enjoyed after the VMI graduation.

Awesome back drop for the bride and her family. The parlor and dining room made an awesome backdrop for the bridal parties preparation, and the garden for photos before the ceremony. The host is a landscape artist and many of his works are on display. Beautiful home and gracious host made for a perfect weekend.

We were in town for our daughter’s game
The house was well equipped and very comfortable.
Couldn’t ask for a better location
See you soon!

Owner was very accommodating and flexible. We were able to check in early. A spacious historic house that was very well appointed with many amenities including mid-19th century furnishings. Very nice appliances and well stocked table and glass ware. The location was ideal, as you can easily walk to shops, restaurants, the campuses of Washington and Lee as well as VMI, and historical sites.
The only issue was internet connectivity for rooms furthest from the router. Rooms for the most part had a strong signal.
We would definitely come back and stay.

Large house, excellent location downtown, walk to everything!

Rented Middleton House for Homecoming weekend. It’s the perfect location with walking distance to shops and restaurants and all the alumni activities. The house is beautifully restored and charming inside and out. We also loved the privacy of 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. My only critique is they could upgrade to king sized beds for a little more luxury. I would definitely stay here again!

House was nicer than pictures showed. Very clean and welcoming with fresh flowers. Great location for walking to great restaurants and the ice cream store!

Loved everything about this home. Large rooms. Great first floor bedroom suite, which was perfect for grandmom. The screened porch was lovely for relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked for any cooking needs. Our son will be at VMI for the next four years and we plan to stay here again.

The pictures on the VRBO website of this home do not do it justice. It is much larger than we expected and is nicely decorated. The screened in porch was one of our favorite spots. The home is centrally located and within walking distance to everything in Lexington including the Washington & Lee and VMI campus. The home owner graciously allowed us to have a late check out since our flight was in the late afternoon in Roanoke.

Fabulous Property, so spacious, great location, wonderfully appointed, every room in the house including the screened porch - just perfect! House just as in photos. We have many happy memories from this special weekend, celebrations and having this home as a base to which to enjoy it all was icing on the cake! The morning of the day we departed, we had a delight seeing a beautiful hummingbird flitting about the butterfly bush in the garden outside the kitchen nook - place is magical!

This house was fabulous in many ways, e.g. character, attention to period details, location, private parking, bathrooms for each bedroom, garden fenced yard, paintings by owner, great kitchen, screened porch and many more features. We thoroughly enjoyed the history and comfortable nature of our stay.

Everything was very nice. One window lock is missing in the kitchen.

We stayed here to compete at Dressage at Lexington in July. The property is beautiful, comfortable, well-maintained, and walking distance to our favorite restaurants. Management was helpful and responsive. We can't wait to stay again!

I reserved this property for 8 guests for our son's graduation from law school. My son, an Air Force Officer located in Montana was called to duty last minute and he and his wife could not make it. Also, my nieces boyfriend was not able to come. Thus as opposed to 8 guests we had 5. Owner had included an additional $645.00 for those three guests. I actually did not realize until after the stay that owner had charged extra for additional guests - my fault for not being observant. When I advised the owner that we had only 5 guests, owner says I had to advise him 90 days prior to stay to get a refund. Owner makes no exception for our military men and women who serve our country and are called to duty last minute. I gave owner the opportunity to reconsider and I could have obtained a letter for my son had owner requested but he just wanted to keep all the money.I own a vacation rental in Florida and would never treat my guest this way. Beware and do not make a reservation and include additional guests. Only reserve for the minimum of two guests and add others right before your stay if necessary. If you do not, and if some members of your group can not come and you do not remember to make - or can not make a change within 90 days because of last minute changes - the owner is very happy to keep your money even though his home was not burdened by the additional guests. I have a copy of his email reply where he says it has to be 90 days and will post if owner denies. In addition the internet was very spotty at various places in the home. I also sent owner several emails during our stay for various items in need of repair in the home. The dining room table had a swing out leg to support the table and the pin attaching the leg was missing so the leg is very loose and can fall right off. Also, one shade fell off when I pulled the string - I can post those messages to the owner should he claim I broke them.

This home was one of the most well-appointed homes we have stayed in! It is in the middle of town and walking distance to everything. So roomy and renovated. I am hoping we can return.

We travel a lot. We stay at many different houses. This was by far the cleanest, most tastefully decorated, most enjoyable house ever. Can’t wait to rent here same time next year! The kitchen was beautifully stocked. The bedrooms were large. The house was located so conveniently in town within walking distance to restaurants. Thank you Peter Sils!
