Enjoy a quiet getaway on Mitchell Bay. Curl up around the wood-burning stove with enchanting views offered by the picture windows, gaze out across the bay with your morning tea, or relax in the hot tub. Mitchell Bay Shores is nestled in a very quiet and cozy neighborhood. Though secluded, this location is a short drive to British Camp National Park, walking trails on Mount Young, and Roche Harbor Resort, Marina and Spa.
This home has a comfortable living room with a wood stove, a sleeper sofa, and a family area equipped with a flat screen Smart TV, Roku, DVD player, and a stereo system.
The dining area is conveniently located between the kitchen and family room with easy access to the outdoor deck and patio. The dining table has seating for 6.
The primary suite offers double doors that open to a private balcony and is furnished with a queen size bed. The spacious en-suite bath includes an oversize tiled shower. The guest bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed as well.
This no-bank waterfront home lends itself to clamming and crabbing, the ability to access the water without leaving the property, and kayak launching. (However, there is no dock access, and boats or kayaks are not included.) The spacious yard is perfect for enjoying the outdoors! This house is equipped with a charcoal BBQ. (Bring your own charcoal. *During seasonal San Juan County burn bans, use of the charcoal grill may be prohibited*.) And of course, the hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking, biking, or kayaking!
The hot tub is professionally serviced on a weekly basis.
This home does not have Air Conditioning. A few open doors provide a cooling breeze off the water. Portable fans are provided as well.

We had a nice 5 night stay at this property. Once we arrived we put out our comfy chairs, opened a bottle of wine and never wanted to leave the deck. Our labrador retriever was happy with this rental. She played frisbee, swam every day, and relaxed on the deck. She even had neighborhood dog friends that visited her. The hot tub was a nice amenity as well. We loved the nearby Horse Trails and rode our bike from the home to the trails. The interior of the home is a bit dated but the location of the home is perfect.

We love the house. There was plenty of room for 5 to sleep comfortably. The kitchen had everything we needed and the hot tub was wonderful. The wifi worked well so that was nice. We had an issue with the shower head and the property management company fixed it the same day we called. They were very responsive. The only negative was that there is no AC. It was a little warm for me but the fans helped a lot.

This house is in a great location, is very spacious, and was clean upon arrival. Although, we very much enjoyed our stay, there are a few aspects that could be improved on: Provide more lawn chairs. There were four of us and only 2 lawn chairs. We had to bring chairs from inside so all of us could sit outside; Hairdryers that work. There were 2 hairdryers and neither of them blew hot air; The guest bathtub was very slippery. We almost slipped and fell a couple times. A mat or grips to prevent injuries would be very helpful. Lastly, there is a very small couch in the tv room. We watched a movie one night and had to bring chairs from the other room so we could all sit to watch the movie. Overall, our stay was great. Just a few small suggestions.

Excellent views, private location with a beautiful scenic drive into town. The big windows and doors to the patio let in lots of natural sunlight and highlighted the view. The beds were uncomfortable, there were notes on the fridge stating that excessive pet hair would warrant an extra $200 fee even though we already paid a large pet fee. Property Management Company was not flexible or accommodating which would be helpful considering the ferry boat schedule is difficult to navigate in the busy season AND the only way on or off the island. The reason given for this was short staffing of house cleaning crew.

Plenty of room in the house for families that like some game time after a great day of hiking on the island. Beds were comfortable, the house was clean, and all amenities worked great. The hot tub was a very good way to wind down and it stayed hot during some long soaks.

The customer service was excellent. Booking was easy. We really enjoyed the new hot tub. Unfortunately, the beds need to be replaced badly. The futon was hard as a rock. We enjoyed the location. We thought the subset would be visible from a west facing location but it was not.

Comfortable and very spacious! Good location for getting around on the island. Well stocked kitchen, except for a vegetable peeler. We enjoyed the Whale Museum, Lime Kiln Park, Sculpture Park, American and British Camps. We visited the Krystal Acres Alpaca farm, they are so adorable and soft. We bought the bag of pellets to feed them. The San Juan Island National Historical Park gave us wonderful views of the surrounding islands. The only we didn't see was a live whale. Maybe next time. Mitchell Bay Shores was the perfect San Juan Island getaway.The house is clean, spacious and beautifully situated. The backyard is perfect for kids games, or puppy play, or sunbathing. And the brand new hotter was a great way to relax after a San Juan Island hike.

We spent 3 days at this home and found it to be very comfortable. We especially appreciated that it was really clean and well maintained. We had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were easy. The view of the bay was nice - and the hot-tub out on the deck was a special bonus.

Disappointed in the property. Did not have the Hot Tub and no outdoor furniture to lounge out on the grounds . Would have been nice to have a fire pit to sit around. The neighbors dogs where in the yard made it hard for us to leave the dogs outside with us . Property was clean beds where small . Had a little issue finding it tucked away in the trees.

Loved the property as a whole. Plenty of space. Very clean. Quiet and private. Only a couple of critiques. They're minor. The towels were not great for the bathroom or the hot tub. They're very thin and older. The hot tub has two broken jets and the lights didn't work. No wood for the fireplace. Other then those minor things, it was a great getaway.

The hose is beautifully situated on the north side of a tidal inlet. It boasts a lovely grass yard, a sizable deck and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the water. I particularly liked the south facing orientation for ample sunshine.

Happy with our experience and would stay there again. We visited in August and although there were fans placed throughout the house it was too hot to be there between 10 am to 8 pm. With windows open the house did cool down at night. I can't blame the owners for not having air conditioning in a place where you probably only need it for 1-2 weeks out of the year. Most shops in town also didn't have AC. Also - like many other reviewers I would suggest at least one of the trees along the back deck be removed. Outside of this the home was very nice to stay in - clean, private, dog friendly and on the water. Trees and bushes along the property line made the yard feel very secluded and the little cove is quiet and away from most boat traffic. We also quite enjoyed the drive from the ferry across the island. Beds were comfy. Kitchen was stocked. Bathrooms felt new and clean. The location of Mitchell Bay was fabulous for boating. We had family with a boat staying at snug harbor (5 minutes away in the same cove) and we'd head out each day to visit roche, Friday, deer, and other harbors. Nearly every day on our way back we would see dolphins, humpback or orcas. If whale watching is on your agenda - the location is fantastic. Overall - our stay was wonderful and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

This is a beautiful place with lots of windows with views of the water. There is a lot of space to relax and we enjoyed being there. There are two bedrooms that were comfortable enough. The pullout couch was very uncomfortable unfortunately so sleeping options didn't really work for us - a couple with two adult children. The master bedroom does not have any door separating the bathroom from the sleeping area which is a bit odd. There is no shampoo, conditioner, lotion or tissues, although there was soap provided. The kitchen was functional. Our only real complaint was that on our second (and last) morning the lawn care guy was there power mowing, trimming, and leaf blowing for at least an hour starting at 8:20 or 8:30. It was really loud and interfered with peaceful enjoyment of the property for our last morning. There was no way to sit outside while this was going on and it was super loud inside too. Since we paid a small fortune for that peacefulness it was disappointing to have one of our two mornings lost. We would have appreciated the loud garden care to happen after our 10 am check out. It was also weird that someone came to spray for ants while we were there. We didn't want to sit outside during that either. Plus it felt strange being asked to authorize something we knew nothing about.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! My husband and I started with my parents and our 9 month old for a long weekend on San Juan. We brought our paddleboards and went right into the bay from the backyard. When not at high tide we had to cross write a bit of mud but it wasn't too bad. We even saw seals in the bay! The house was comfortable and very light filled. I wasn't sure what to expect because some earlier reviews said it was really outdated, but we found it to be very nice and perfectly appropriate for a low-key island getaway. I'd definitely come back.

We loved the island, lots to do and the house is nicely secluded for a fun private stay. If possible, I would suggest a door be added to the master bathroom and maybe new drapes on the French doors to help with the early 5:45 am sunrise.

Clean, well kept vacation rental for sure. The home was comfortable but for the money it has some issues. The dinner plates will not fit in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is so old that the rack inside is rusting out and missing pieces. Cheap towels and utensils. Nice quiet neighborhood and the house is clean and well kept. Just wish it was updated some and had simple things like kleenex in it. Very old hot tub. In general this could be a great rental with some upgrades. Great location

we wanted a quiet spot on the water to relax, the photo on the listing is out of date and in late fall/winter. There is a large hedge lining three-quarters of the shore that obstructs the view of the bay along with 3 small trees right along the deck. You have to position chairs off the deck to get a view. As my husband said as we left, "it could have been great..."

We very much enjoyed the house and the location. We loved being able to launch kayaks and paddleboards right from the back yard! As mentioned in previous reviews, the two couches desperately need replacing. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would stay there again.

As the pics indicate, this property has a great location for watching the water and playing catch in the backyeard. Watching sunsent from the hot tub is also a plus! The property is expensive for the shapte that it is in - it definitely is looking shabby and needs some updates making it a little expensive for what you get overall. But overall, a good choice for a family with 2 kids.

The setting was very nice and I was able to get out in my kayak a couple of times. I was a little disappointed in the accommodations. Worn and tired. The hot tub jets were not fully functioning. The appliances functioned but could do with a little upkeep. I was put off by the yard maintenance showing up without prior notice. Picture in web page is not accurate and view cut off by hedge. Overall satisfied, but for the price disappointed.
