Relax on the sunny deck, walk along West Cliff Drive and fall asleep at night to the sound of crashing waves. Cowells Surfside is a clean, one- bedroom apartment located two houses from West Cliff, behind a main house and above the detached garage. Surrounded by plants and a garden it has beautiful views of the Monterey Bay, Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Wharf and Santa Cruz Mountains. The apartment has bamboo floors, granite counters and large sunny windows. The living room has a pullout sleeper sofa making space for children or additional guests. There are plenty of linens and towels along with a stocked kitchen. Included with your stay are two beach cruisers, boogie boards and beach chairs. The deck has a working gas grill for outdoor cooking. It’s a perfect get away for a couple of small family.

The apartment gives you walking access to many beaches, great surf spots, the Boardwalk and SC Wharf, wine tasting and shopping. Athletes have been renting here for years to have easy access to triathlons, surf contests and other races. Families love it for the proximity to the Boardwalk and downtown. Travelers return every summer and fall to enjoy the fun and beauty of our town.

What a spot! We loved everything about this cute, clean, airy, great view spot! The location is perfect for everything santa cruz! One house off of west cliff, perfect for walking everywhere! Kerry and Scott were perfect hosts and, their darling dogs are the perfect addition! We will be back!

We have nothing but wonderful things to stay about our stay here! The location was excellent- view of the ocean, very walkable, private. The property was clean and exactly as described. Kerry had great communication with clear check in/check out instructions and tips for things to do in the area. We absolutely would stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to the area!

Perfect home base for walking along West Cliff Drive or to the wharf. Very clean, very comfortable, well appointed unit over the garage, so you have privacy and a view of the ocean. You can hear the ocean and the sea lions with a window open. Great host!

Kerry, our host, was very friendly, helpful and responsive! The property was outstanding! It was clean, well furnished, beautifully decorated and in a great location. The bed is super comfy too! We loved having a washer and dryer on-site. We would love to come back and visit sometime soon. Can highly recommend!

This is a great unit above the garage and two houses from the ocean cliffs. The unit is clean and well maintained. Easy to walk everywhere in town. You do have to park on the street and during the summer it can fill up quickly. But still I not had to park 1 block away. Excellent place to stay.

My adult disabled son and I wanted a place near Cowell Beach so we could attend Day on the Beach. This was a perfect location for us to walk to the beach and to the Boardwalk.

I cannot find enough positive adjectives to use when describing our stay. Lovely and sweet apartment, private. Great location, about 1/2 block off west cliff drive. You can hear the bark of the sea lions as you relax in your apartment. It is about a 10 min walk to the wharf ( where those sea lions are hanging out) passing all kinds of surfers enjoy the wave. Location great for walkers, close to shops ( not to close) I felt at home as soon as I walked in the door. The owners were very nice!

Our stay over the New Year's Eve weekend was actually a quiet getaway to celebrate a birthday. The rain did not dampen our enjoyment or comfort. Fortunately, we were just ahead of the massive rains, flooding and damage to the county and to Capitola Village in particular. We drove to Monterey (to the wonderful Aquarium) one day, but basically just relaxed! Went to Zachary's for a wonderful breakfast, and took a few walks through the neighborhood and along the coast. The property met our needs perfectly - clean, comfortable and great location.

Our family loves staying here. The place is always very clean and you can’t beat the morning views. Our daughter lives right down the way, so it’s nice to have a place that has everything we need. The owners are wonderful and helpful. Would highly recommend!

This property is true to the pictures and info on VRBO. Very clean and comfortable. The beach, pier and boardwalk are a 5-10 minute walk. We only used our car to pick up a few groceries when we first arrived and to go out to dinner one night. We had an unusually warm weekend in Santa Cruz but it always cooled down in the evening. For light sleepers, be aware that if you leave the windows open at night (we did) you can hear the sea lions barking throughout the night.

A beautiful spacious 1 bedroom with comfy king sized bed and private terrace overlooking the ocean and wharf. Just steps away from restaurants, attractions, beaches and the boardwalk. We appreciated the kitchen amenities and toiletries provided. Would definitely recommend.

My daughter and I stayed at this property for a few nights this summer and it was perfect for us. The unit was clean, had everything we needed, and was in walking distance to the Boardwalk and beaches. It was wonderful to wake up, drink my coffee, and look out over the ocean with a gentle breeze coming through the windows. I would absolutely stay here again.

We loved our stay at the Cowell Surfside Cottage. The "cottage" was well appointed and in excellent condition. It's a perfect location to the beaches, boardwalk, coffee shops, restaurants and wharf. Kerry is an accommodating and gracious hostess. We look forward to our next stay.

I can't say enough good things about our stay at this property. The condo was super clean, bright, and comfortable. The location is exceptional, with access to the water across the street, miles of water views and beach access along W. Cliff Dr., and it's walkable to the boardwalk and downtown. We walked everywhere, swam in the ocean, watched surfers, and ate great food. (Steamer Lane Supply is a 4-min walk, and the food and view are perfection; ate breakfast there 3x.) The locals were *so* nice, we had tons of spontaneous conversations with strangers that made me feel human again after 2+ of Covid protocols. Best vacation I've had in many years. We stayed 5 nights and I was very sorry to leave. Thanks Kerry and Scott for sharing this beautiful space. Will definitely return!

We had a wonderful stay at an amazing location and an excellent place. It is a pleasant walk to beaches, the pier, the boardwalk, and dining. It is a 5 minute drive to Safeway. We are adventurous retirees during the day and we so appreciated the quiet in the evening. We ventured for a swim from Cowell steps (100 feet?) to Cowell beach behind Dream Inn. We wore shortie thinsuits, mask/snorkel, fins. We would definitely stay here again. The pictures are accurate. That is really the view!

The pics and description of the property were very accurate. The place is very comfortable from the couches to the bed, and they had a night light in the bathroom. The kitchen was equipped with all the items we needed to cook breakfast and heat up leftovers. About a 1/2 mile walk to the boardwalk pier area with many shops and restaurants so not too far. Parking is on the street but there was always parking.
