About this villa rental

This 1938 art deco DUPLEX home was purchased in June of 2012 by Jimmy Brattain, owner of Design Works and has been under renovation every since. An award winning designer and builder, Mr. Brattain has brought his family's history to life in the quaint town of Gulfport, FL. The concept of the property was inspired by the memory of his grandmother and love of his grandfather who moved to Gulfport after WW11.

The property features a shared pool, private courtyard and parking for two vehicles, custom finishes, such as original murals, crown molding, pecky cypress ceiling, custom fabric backed banquette seating, floor to ceiling marble bathroom, custom lighting including LED recessed lights, ceiling fans, stainless steel appliances including microwave, quartz counter tops, porcelain faux wood flooring, DVD player, wireless Internet, flat screen TV's, washer/dryer, private courtyard, parking for 2 vehicles.
Come stay in a Ralph Lauren inspired space or for the more adventurous, a Hollywood Glam interior is more your style. The property can also be rented for private parties and weddings, both units sleep a total of 10; all 2 blocks from over 18 restaurants & bars and 3 blocks from Boca Ciega Bay and 10 minutes from beautiful St. Pete. Beach.

I can’t wait for another occasion to go back to the fantastic vacation rental! The design of this place is just spectacular and an art deco heaven. It was so relaxing and peaceful and the whole house is well appointed. This will be the only place I stay when going to the St Pete area. Love it!!

It was a great property and the owner was awesome to deal with. Welcomed us and offered any assistance if we had any. But we did not, it was a great location within walking distance to restaurants and what a wonderful little community in Gulfport. We really enjoyed ourselves.

The pics do not do justice to the place. Jimmy keeps clean and always communicates with you. The neighborhood is very unique and welcoming. Blocks from the bay, good food and very peaceful. 15-18 minutes to Clearwater and st Pete’s beach. We loved it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is one side of a duplex and well maintained. The home was comfortable and stocked with all we needed. The pool was relaxing as I enjoyed a few hours sitting outside. One bedroom is the lowest level and stays very cool temperature wise. The upstairs bedroom is bright and comfortable. The bathroom is outside the upstairs bedroom which is a bit inconvenient for anyone in the bottom bedroom. Any questions I had, I was able to text the owner and he replied very quickly. Gulfport is an adorable town. The beach is an easy three block walk with restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend staying at this house when you plan your visit to Gulfport, FL.

We loved staying in the Gulfport area! This house was in the perfect location and within walking distance of lots of great restaurants, shops and even pickleball courts if you are so inclined! We also enjoyed the bikes and the ride through Clam Bayou Nature Preserve!

Our stay was everything we could have asked for, and more. The property was beautiful and spacious. The owner’s attention to detail was awesome. We loved the little courtyard where we could enjoy our breakfast each morning, and enjoyed the refreshing pool. We are planning to retire to FL within the next year, and Gulfport is on our short list. Such a beautiful little town, with just a laid-back, old Florida, artsy, beach vibe. We loved O’Maddy’s, Gulfport Brewery, and all the options for live music. We will definitely stay again when in the area, and have already recommended this property to friends. Only bad part was leaving.

My boyfriend and I chose to stay here for our vacation this summer and had an amazing time! We were able to bring our dog which was a huge bonus! Jimmy was super responsive to any of our questions. The pool was so relaxing and the shops and restaurants of Gulfport are 2 blocks away so convenient! We’ve already talked about staying here again!

We absolutely loved everything about this adorable Art Deco home located in charming Gulfport, FL. The interior design is stunning with custom artwork and deco murals throughout. The private patio and pool area was serene and relaxing. The house had all the amenities you need for your stay and was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. House was even more amazing than displayed on the photos - there were so many nice details inside und outside the house. It‘s well equipped and the pool and the breakfast area outside were quite nice. Check-in and out was very easy and we always had personal guidance via WhatsApp by the owner. We loved to stay there for 2 nights during our road-trip alongside Florida!

Family of four stayed in this duplex quite comfortably. Parents in upstairs room and two kids shared downstairs bed. Little inconvenient to have only the single small bathroom upstairs, but the apartment was very clean and well stocked. Anything I thought of was readily available and our host Jimmy was superb! We loved the proximity to the beach, Gulfport shops and restaurants and the cute neighborhood. The bikes were a fun way to get around but walking was just as easy. The pool was a nice addition too.

We rented both sides of this property and each was charming and interesting in their different styles and decor but both incredibly comfortable and functional. Honestly, we spent most of our time in the back at the pool. There's always sun or shade if you want and the whole experience was delightful. We hope to return again!

We spent a wonderful two months in this beautifully restored and maintained home. The location is ideal- walking everywhere in the delightful little town of Gulfport and close to a beautiful trail to bike to downtown St. Petersburg. And having a pool at an “in-town” Gulfport home is a treat that should never be underestimated. Jimmy was great to deal with—easy going and responsive— and we can’t wait to come back!

Can’t change the weather but in spite of it, our place was warm, dry and cozy. The unit was clean, adorable, decorated lovely, bedding so comfortable, two easy walkable blocks to town and beach, and had literally everything you need to enjoy a stay. Would definitely stay again if I ever traveled to Gulfport again.
