We loved our stay at The Kahbana. Great location, beautiful views and it was equipped with everything we could possibly need. We loved the three different outdoor areas and the beautiful bay window surrounding the dining space. Having an evaporative air conditioner to cool the whole house and a split system to additionally cool the living space (along with ceiling fans) was awesome. We certainly hope to return.

The property was well located for us to travel back along Snowy River highway to photograph the Brumbies and visit Yarrangobilly Caves and highlights along Long Plain Road. Property close to club for Chinese meal and petrol and small general store handy for our visit

Hadn't been to Talbingo for years, so staying here brought back all the great memories. This is a cute cottage with a jaw dropping view. Outdoor seating and BBQ. Very comfortable, we loved the wood burning fireplace. Comfortable beds. Everything you could want. You do need to bring your own sheets and towels but the host forewarns you. Backs onto the sports club which had the best Chinese food I've had in years. No exaggeration. Definite repeat

Very well appointed and clean.
We really were comfortable, the property is older, however it was clean!
Lots of time was taken to ensure the property was clean, and all items you could ever need were considered.
We were very impressed with the accommodation overall, and we're very comfortable.

Perfect de stress with all the comforts.
The family used it as a base for two weeks if waterskiing and wakeboarding. Two massive lakes within 10 mins each way. House was super comfy with everything you need to eat , water yourself snd be merry. Bbq and big covered side deck with views for summer evening relaxing. The added benefit if having the golf club 50 m from the back gate for an ale or dinner. Kim was super responsive to questions. House was comfy, homey and had ehat you needed for a mountain escape. Local petrol station had premium 98 and local mini supermarket had essentials if you didnt want to fo the 25-30 mins to tumut. Thanks kim. Great holiday to start 2022

Talbingo- A real hidden gem
The Kabahna- a cozy family house in a beautiful small town, Talbingo, which we would say a real hidden gem.
Everything about Kabahna had been perfect.
-The beautiful mountain view from the dining room
-Kangaroo visit in the backyard
-Sensible stock to use during the stay and the toys for kids to keep them occupied

After losing a booking at Jindabyne that was confirmed (Only later to be advised by the property owner that the information was incorrect), then waiting around for 2 frustrating weeks for our refund, we had all but succumbed to our school holidays being ruined until we found this on Stayz. We quickly jumped on and requested a reservation and almost immediately Kim, the property owner had responded. She advised us that although the proximity to Mt Selwyn is close, due to the recent bushfires it was closed. I sincerely appreciated her advice as she could've easily just taken our booking, money etc but her honesty was most welcome and we decided to proceed with the reservation. I believe that the pricing was very fair given that you can accomodate up to 10 comfortably and anything you could ever need is provided (right down to salt & pepper). There is plenty of room in the lounge room, by the fireplace for all the family to enjoy the lovely natural warmth. 2 x toilets were very useful for all 5 of us who stayed on this visit (Also a great benefit if more than 5 guests). The washing machine & dryer are also very useful especially with 2 boys under 6 who just love getting themselves dirty ha ha. The BBQ was huge and 2 x gas bottles kept us cooking the whole time. There's a lovely verandah on the front to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the cold winter morning which is most enjoyable. There's so much more that I can list but you just have to go visit and discover it for yourselves. As for the town, it's just such a lovely part of the world with the general store having all your grocery supplies, postal needs & although I didn't purchase the CD, pretty sure that there's a little bit of singing talent, possibly the owner, who I feel was a Scotsman (apologies in advance if I'm wrong, but having recently viewed 6 seasons of Outlander it would've made wifeys day if I had purchased ha ha). Stu at the ski shop was most helpful. Although we didn't have much snow during our visit (only on the day we left up at Kiandra), Stu was available every day to show us snow conditions, reports etc. Again, he could've easily just taken our money and left us high & dry (literally), but honesty seems to come in spades in these small country towns which is so comforting and sincerely appreciated. I didn't have a chance to visit the local golf club/pub but have read some great reviews. PLEASE do yourself a favor and visit, support, enjoy Talbingo 😀

Wood fire and bringing sheets and towels not really practical
All was well organised, furbished and resourced (lots of cutlery, plates, bowls, etc but also condiments, oil and other kitchen essentials).
Communication with the owner was very effective.
On the other hand, it was rather inconvenient to have to bring our own towels and bed sheets.
The wood fire was very effective for heating up the place but it was a fair amount of work as well as somewhat time consuming to put on each afternoon.

Highly recommended
A basic home full of character. We were a large group but were able to find our own space but at meal times when we were together the space catered well. Close to amenities. Tennis, golf and club on our doorstep. Great off street boat parking. Clean and well appointed. Host was approachable open and honest. Thankyou.

Perfect Retreat
We stayed at the Kabahna with another family and it was a home away from home. Relaxing by the fire with a glass of wine after a day at the snow was simply the best. The house had all of the amenities of home and made for a stress-free stay. The kids could spread out and play while the adults had their own space as well. The view of the mountains from the kitchen is captivating. The only downside was that three nights simply wasn't long enough. We will definitely be back!

The Kabahna was great for my family's first trip to the snow!! The location was peaceful, the views were amazing and the house itself was a home away from home! Will definitely be back for future snow trips!!
