This property is amazing.
We loved everything about it. Especially the downstairs area for our teenagers!
The views are awesome and the dock area was pretty convenient.

Thank you for providing a lovely setting to spend quality time with our children and grandchildren. We ALL had a fun week at SML, especially the special cousin time for our youngest grandchildren. They all tried tubing for the first time as we rented a pontoon boat for a day and it was a highlight. Your home had just the right amount of space for us and was well equipped.
Residing in Virginia Beach we always thought we were ocean people, but apparently we are lake people too and will surely return.

Had a great time here during our stay! Best place on the lake and couldn’t have asked for better!

Beautiful place with lots of outdoor seating and spaces. We really appreciated the large number of kayaks and life jackets. I didn’t pay enough attention to listing and had to go shopping for linens and towels. Lesson learned.

The best thing about this home is the views! There is also Great Lake access with plenty for kids to do. I personally love how secluded the home was, it added a very relaxing woodsy vibe. The owner is extremely friendly and responds quickly to message (this is appreciated.) Only a few things I’d like to point out to other guest, there are no linens (it’s in the listing details but we missed it), there’s only one working tv in the upstairs living space (not a terrible bad thing, and the closet full grocery store is 30mins away. Overall it was a great stay. Will stay again.

The lake house was well stocked and comfortable with fabulous views! With 3 couples and two small children we had enough space to spread out. The owners need to make a few repairs to the property but all in all a nice place!

This house is situated in the perfect location for watching boat traffic, watching wildlife and watching the stars. Plenty of water toys and life vests made it a good fit for our multi age group. Beds are so comfortable and there are lots of chili out areas in the house. Our favorite was the sun porch.

We enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful. The one problem we had is that the bathtub does not work in the master bedroom. When you have small children that can be an issue with bathing. The deck house was well stocked with life vest, fishing rods and floating devices.

2nd time here and coming back next year

We have been coming to the lake for 14 years now, and this house had one of the most amazing views! When we are looking for a lake house at SML we are looking for a house with views, a great boat dock, and good sleeping arrangements. This house delivered and there was sooooo much more. It was clean, the beds were comfortable for everyone, the views were on point, we had a boat and it was easy to dock, the kitchen was well labeled and well stocked with dishes and anything else you would need when it comes to having to cook (just bring the food), the Blackstone on the deck was an extra bonus (my husband loves cooking on his Blackstone at home) for breakfast and dinners, they had so much for our 14 and 17 year old to do (paddle boards, canoe, and pedal boat). I highly recommend this house! It was a relaxing retreat that we look forward to every year! Thank you!!!!

Me and some friends were Gatling for a long weekend to catch up at the lake. The house was beautiful and cozy with lots of room to hang out together. The dock is very nice and we enjoyed having a fire going to warm up as it was late in the season. Overall we were very impressed with the house and enjoyed our stay.
**There are no linens which was explained by the host prior to us arriving but we did forgot to include kitchen towels which are not included either.

We had a wonderful time & would love to do this annualy

We had a wonderful time at Happy Endings! It truly is such a beautiful view there, and we were thankful to have a weekend with our friends. The only drawbacks: having to bring own sheets, towels, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, and garbage bags. Front door keypad does not work nor is the code correct in the email that was sent prior to check in. Luckily, a back door was unlocked, so we easily were able to get in and then unlock the front door. Also, many of the lights in the downstairs bar area need new light bulbs, so it was hard for us to hang out downstairs. Positive parts of the stay: we loved that there were three bathrooms, the king bed in the upstairs master suite was SO comfortable, the dock area was awesome and so much fun, and we loved that there were two grills to cook on. Overall, it was a good weekend with a few small setbacks, but it didn't keep us from having a great time and really wanting to come back in the off-season again!

Our extended family enjoyed our stay at this vacation home. There were lots of activities for the kids (paddle boards, kayaks, paddle boat, air hockey, pool table, etc). There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and relax. Owners were prompt to respond and easy to communicate with. We were also able to rent a boat from the local marina and secure it to the floating dock when not in use.

Happy Endings Review
The house was clean and furnished with two nice grills that were piped into a large propane tank. The outside back patio and porch are awesome. The inside of the house was clean but dark. The living and inside eating areas are cramped if the house is full. It rained during our trip, so the kids loved that there was a pool table, air hockey table and lots of games to play. Overall, we enjoyed our time there.

Don’t hesitate to choose Happy Endings!
The home is clean, comfy and casual. The view is beautiful and there are so many little things that mean so much. There are accommodations for children of all ages that make the stay effortless! The hosts were quick to respond to messages. There were no negative issues with the home. Hope to stay again soon!

Family getaway
Happy Endings is a wonderful place for a family getaway. My daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren and myself enjoyed our stay so much. The house is perfect and the location on the lake was exactly what we were looking for.

Amazing House!
My teammates and I rented this house after competing in a triathlon at Smith Mountain Lake, and the owners were extremely accommodating and helpful to us. We were just looking for a place to crash, but ended up getting so much more than we were anticipating. The house is beautiful, and the view was absolutely stunning. We enjoyed hanging out on the dock by the lake, and only wished we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend staying at this house!

Getaway on the Lake
The property and location at Smith Mountain lake was great. It was equipped with everything you would want to get in the lake with. Only a few things were not working like tub in large master and downstairs hot water buy we enjoyed ourselves anyway. Thank you for sharing your home and we hope to be able to come back again.

Love the griddle!
We had a great time! The location is great, the view can't be beat, it was clean, and came with lots of water toys! Also, there's a massive outdoor griddle. I know it sounds strange, but there's no more convenient way to cook a big breakfast for 10 people! As a few other reviews note, the house may technically sleep 13, but really it's up to 3 adult couples (in 3 bedrooms with queen/king beds) and lots of assorted kids (in various bunk rooms). A 4th adult couple would cause challenges to sleeping arrangements.
We've booked again for next year!

Wonderful week at the Lake. The property was well maintained at a beautiful location. The dock and boat house were great and well equipped.

A beautiful place to escape for the week!
Great house with amazing views and lots of water toys to use! The screened in porch was an oasis of calm, but with temps in the 90s all week, it was not used as much as we would have liked as it got hot pretty quickly in there.
Although it sleeps 13, 7 of those beds are twin bunk beds with two of the bunks in the 2nd master bedroom. The triple bunk room is also the laundry room, so it was sort of hard to use the laundry at times. Although the teenagers loved to water toys, the sleeping situation was a bit cramped for them. However, it would be perfect for younger kiddos. The rest of the house makes up for it though.
We had not gotten the door code the day of check in, but response was quick to get the code once requested by mid-afternoon. Also, had to contact owners to figure out how to turn off a floodlight and response was again quick and issue was resolved easily.
This was a great spot on a quieter part of the lake. The only thing I am bummed about is how much the price has increased for next year.

Great view, nice place.
It was a nice place with a great view, but a few things didn't work perfectly. Basement was cold and heat didn't seem to work well. Had to mess with the to get them to work. It would have been nice to have instructions for fireplace. They didn't really clean up yard. Beds were comfortable, house was great otherwise. I would stay there again.

Special place to make memories!
As someone who loves to travel, I can tell you this view is amazing! Makes you feel like you are on an island somewhere far away! Had a wonderful memorable trip and would not hesitate to go back. Owners have clearly taken time, effort, and money to make this place wonderful for people to stay.

Excellent stay. Perfect views.
Great house. Beautiful outdoor space. Would have liked additional sleeping for additional couples. Sleeps 13 but 7 of those slots definitely for kids. Would come back!!

Great location!
Location, proximity to marina, was perfect for us and our 12 person family get together renting pontoon boat. The aqua glide water trampoline was a kid (and adult) fav. BBQ was bit quirky but hey rigged startup worked for us and owners were responsive to our queries. Would do it again.

A Perfect Lake Week
We could not have had a better time at Capewood on SML. With 4 adults, 6 teenagers and a baby, we all had something to do. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, porches, fire pit, dock and lake. Thank you Bauer and Turner Families for sharing such a gem of a property with others to enjoy. We hope to return again!

Great Location and Fabulous View
One of the best locations on the lake! The lake and mountain view is best part of the home and the deck and plentiful outdoor furniture make it easy to enjoy. The younger among us swam to the island and back. The canoeing was fun and the kayak and paddle board, while small, allowed all of us to be on the water at the same time. Also enjoyed the water trampoline and lots of jumping off the dock. The essentially (currently) vacant lots on either side this home allowed excellent privacy as well. This was just the getaway we needed. I hope to return.

0 complaints - house was clean, property was well maintained - Views are AWESOME - doc was well maintained - so happy with our choice of this place - plenty of dishes and kitchen supplies - I typically try to find something to suggest but can’t think of anything, great spot, worth every penny

Best view, comfort, amenities, & more!
Lots of things to do inside, outside, and on/off the water! Boy did our teen crew enjoy the water trampoline (and we were entertained by them from the comfort of the dock!). Clean and comfortable house with one of the most wonderful views from the house, deck, firepit and dock that could be had!!! Truly enjoyable time for the entire family!
