Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the park's name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape.
Cadillac Mountain: Cadillac Mountain: At 1,530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is not only the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park, but also the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require.

Beautiful home ….Every convenience!!
5.0 / 5.0
Property is just as described. We stayed with adults, teens and children. We also rented a pontoon boat from the owner and used it to view the sunrise, cruise to the public beach and take the kids (and adults) to the lake's jump rock. Had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

This is our second visit to this wonderful house on the lake. We rented a pontoon boat again. It was 6 adults 2 children and 2 dogs. The property and view is stunning. Close to Ellsworth and Acadia. Josh is an excellent and responsive host. The only negative is that it is so nice staying on the property and boat we only got to Acadia once.

We had a fantastic vacation at the lake house. The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The entry way on the ground level in the back was fantastic. A fridge on the lower level would have been great to avoid walking up and down the stairs...maybe something to consider.
The ac worked well in the main areas of the house but if you sleep with the door closed a fan was needed and unfortunately there werent enough fans for all the bedrooms.
The house is about a half hour away from the nearest grocery store and about an hour away from Bar Harbor. It was perfect for a day trip to do some shopping and to have lunch.
Beech Hill Pond is beautiful and extremely clean and clear. Its a bit rocky at the shore line but once you are in its perfect. The boat rental was a huge plus.
We would definately recommend and visit again.

This was our 5th year at Beech Hill. We look forward to this vacation every summer. This property has everything you need and more. Can’t wait for next year!

We had 9 adults and 1 six year old at this property. It was a beautiful lake front home with plenty of room for all of us to gather together. We all had a wonderful vacation and would highly recommend this home. There was one canoe, one kayak and 2 tandem kayaks for us to use which we did several times. Hearing the loons in the evening made my stay even better

The house is very nice. Updated kitchen, all the bedrooms where a good size and the beds where all comfy. We had 9 adults and a dog and there was plenty of room for everyone. The view from the living room was fantastic. I would highly recommend.

The property was perfect for our annual ice fishing trip. It was spacious, clean, and ready for our arrival. It’s a beautiful camp and we will most definitely make plans to return again in the future.

The house we stayed in was perfect. The view of the lake was so wonderful especially at sunrise. It had everything we needed! Lots of room for 12 of us but yet cozy enough to be together! Owner was quick to respond when WIFI went out. Little bit of a drive to Acadia and other locations of interest but the scenery this time of year was beautiful!

Well appointed property, right on the lake, not too far from Acadia National Park. Very clean. Fire pit with wood and s’more fixings was a nice touch.

This house was perfect for us. The dock to fish off of in the morning when the kids wake up was great. The access to the canoe and kayaks was added fun. It's a short trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia national park. The house is large, spacious, clean and very cozy. The owners were responsive and accommodating. We would love to stay here again in the future!

We fell in love with this home and it's location. There were 8 of us and have been to Maine many times. We had plans to go site seeing, but once we got to this home those plans changed quickly. We decided just to relax and stay there the whole week. We only left to run into Ellsworth for groceries. The General store is also a great source for last minute items and their pizza is pretty darn good. Lord willing we will be back.

Beautiful house! Amazing lake! Really felt like you were away from it all; great play options including kayak and canoe. Enjoyed the week with family!
5.0 / 5.0
The house great, clean, on the water with free access to kayaks, canoes, and you can rent a pontoon if you desire. We didn’t have any dire need to contact the host during our stay but checkin was via email and that’s all we needed. The house is pretty much as listed - upstairs is open kitchen, living room, dining room, seating area by wood stove, 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The upstairs bedrooms have queen/twin bunk setup in the front room and a queen bed in the spacious back bedroom.
The downstairs has a family seating area with TV, great recliner couches and has patio door that opens to the backyard. There are 3 bedrooms downstairs - 2 are spacious and the room to the back is smaller but all have ample closet space for longer stays. Also downstairs is a full bathroom and laundry room.
The backyard has a great fire pit we used every night, loungers if it’s sunny and warm when you visit and the water dock is unbeatable for your morning coffee spot.
The neighbors are quiet, the road is dirt and busy but you can walk your dog or yourself if you need to get your steps in. If you have your own boat/jet skis there’s a public boat launch less than 1/4 mile down the road.
It’s in a good location away from the madness of Bar harbor, but still easy to get there if you want to head that way. Ellsworth which is very nearby has some good eating spots and shopping.
Would definitely stay again.

Our week at this property was very memorable! We enjoyed the fire pit with s’mores and grilling/eating outside. The house was spacious, yet cozy…everyone was impressed with the comfortable beds.
We would highly recommend this rental as well as a consideration of the boat rental-totally worth it!! Thank you to the host for prompt communication and for making sure our stay was stress free!

Wonderful week at Beech Hill.
House was perfect for a multigenerational family with 2 dogs with everything you need for a week on a lake.
We’ve rented in Maine for years and this is the first house with AC. That was a must after many muggy vacations.
Also appreciate that grounds are sprayed for mosquitoes.
We loved it so much we already reserved our week for 2024. First time we’ve gone to the same place twice.
We can’t wait to return.
We also rented a pontoon from the owner and we lived on it…all 8 of us. Really knocked the vacation out of the park with the boat.

Stayed a week for a family gathering. Plenty of room for everyone to feel comfortable. Beautiful lake front location with amazing views on a great crystal clear Maine lake. Enjoyed 3 trips in to Acadia from here to do some hiking and the rest of the time playing on the lake with the canoe and paddle boards. Special vacation for us all!!!

Loved the place and enjoyed the tranquil setting. Beautiful lake. Would really recommend the owner to upgrade the wifi router that didn’t require rebooting 3 times a day.

Property was lovely and exactly what we were looking for. The bedroom situation is different than the pictures so make sure to read the descriptions. We made it work! Josh was very quick to respond to any questions we had prior to arriving and all went well! Thank you!

This is a lovely house on the shore of Birch Hill Pond. Very clean, very well-appointed. Had nearly everything we needed. (could use a sink stopper and towel racks in the lower bathroom).
We had four generations with us for a college graduation. The upper level was perfect for the 92 year old.
The dock wasn't up when we were there but the lake was too rough to use the kayaks anyhow. We used the firepit and the fireplace indoors every day. Very relaxing spots to watch the loons.
This was a great place for a family gathering! We would love to go back.

Gorgeous view, spacious and plenty of amenities with this home. Two families totaling nine adults came together on this trip to celebrate a surprise marriage proposal and Thanksgiving. It just so happens six of us are full-time rver’s that travel and review parks and campgrounds we visit. When we stay in a “sticks & bricks” home there are certain amenities we miss and truly look for. Beech Hill Pond home provided many of these to include the large kitchen/family/dining room all in one open space giving us the all together feeling. Looking out at the pond everyday gave us a sense of peace and relaxation. The parking area fit three SUV’s and room for a fourth if needed. To us the best part is we could bring the family dogs and not stress or worry. We did have a few issues though, the major for us was the internet. It kept dropping and 3-4 times a day we had to reset the router. Three of us telework and a forth studying for final exams so this really did hinder us. I did reach out to Josh, he advised resetting the router which we did but then he gave us the number to the internet company to call. I felt this was not our home so we should not have been the ones making the call. Final result was just that there were too many users for the type of internet the owner has. A major amenity for myself is a nice bathtub I can enjoy. Well, the drain stopper seal is bad and I could not fill the tub up more than a quarter full as it drained faster than it could fill. Next, since we were there for nine days we did a load towels and learned the dryer does not dry well and took hours. Last, the pictures posted for the bedrooms are not up to date. The master does not have a chair or a dresser, Bedroom 1 no longer has a queen bed it is now a bunk bed and the lower bed is a full. For us this room was need for a senior that could not go up and down the stairs but because of this it through a wrench in with the other rooms because bedroom 4 has two beds that was going to be used for two adults that didn’t share a bed and now has a queen.
All in all we did enjoy our time and for that we gave 4 stars!

Loved almost everything about the property. WiFi kept going down on us. That was a little challenging since my nephew was taking online classes. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good location. Lots of amenities. House was very clean and well stocked. Owner was quick to respond to questions and was very helpful. Will be coming back.

Our stay at Beech Hill pond was fabulous! From the moment we opened the door and saw the house, we knew we had made the right decision. It was so clean and incredibly outfitted with all of the comforts of home with no expenses spared. We had great weather and enjoyed the fire pit each night! Retail therapy in Ellsworth and our excursion to Bar Harbor just added to the greatness of our stay. Our adult kids really enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing. All in all, a wonderful time! Thanks to the Greers for sharing their little slice of Heaven!

This was an Acadia vacation for us. Property isn't the closest to the park, but was manageable. The house was good. Just enough room for the 6 of us. Lake view is awesome.

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect
This was a perfect property for staying with the extended family. The kitchen was complete, so we could cook all of our meals there. Lots of hiking and outdoor activities. The rooms were all well appointed with comfortable beds and pillows and many towels were provided. We intend to come back.

Amazing Otis
We had an amazing experience and this was the best VRBO rental I ever booked. Josh the owner went above and beyond. Our family had such a wonderful time and this house was so special as it accompanied all of us. The house was extremely clean and had all items you would ever need. We will be back.

Lovely off-the-grid cabin experience
There was some initial shock from the condition of the private road the property is on. The signs stating "enter at your own risk" were off-putting, but the payoff of arriving at the property made it worth-while. Beautiful home, peaceful location and stunning views. Would definitely recommend!
