About this cottage rental
This cottage is in a gorgeous location. It sits on 3 acres on a granite bluff overlooking the ocean, with greater than 180 degrees of spectacular water views. This is prime Nova Scotia ocean frontage. The views are unsurpassed. New for 2018- New bedroom suite with full bath and new Laundry Room, a dishwasher and new kitchen cabinets!
You would be at a peaceful oceanfront retreat, but Halifax, a major international city is only 20 minutes away! Prospect is also about 10 miles from the major tourist destination of Peggy's Cove, which is a quaint oceanfront village, with a much visited lighthouse on a granite coast. Prospect is an oceanfront fishing village. The village is fairly quiet, but the people are very friendly and can share their way of life with you. Waterfront recreation abounds with everything from sea kayaking to sailing, water skiing, motor boating, fishing and whale watching. There is a two mile stretch of undeveloped public land ('crown land', as it is nominally owned by the queen of England) right next to the cottage that is a fabulous place to walk, run mountain bike or hike. The coast is spectacular to drive along with many picturesque villages such as Peggy's Cove, Lununberg, Mahone Bay, and Chester nearby. Restaurants are plentiful, with delicious seafood. Halifax is a major international city and has first class activities and attractions, including Celtic music, professional sports and entertainment, the Citadel fortress, a charming waterfront, and an excellent nightlife.
This is a simple, but neat and comfortable cottage with all the basic amenities, and then some, on a spectacular location. I constantly update/upgrade it. It has free Wi Fi internet and cable TV. New Master Suite 2018. New Laundry area 2018.
If you are looking for 5-star resort accommodations, this is not for you! But if you want to be surrounded by gorgeous oceanfront in your private getaway, while still having a major international city nearby, you will be very happy. The cottage is best for 4 people, but there are a couple of beds in the unfinished attic, as well as a sleeper sofa.
Please note Nova Scotia and Canada tax of 15%. Pet fee $100/pet. PRICES ARE IN USD. If you wish to pay in $CDN, let me know and we will figure out a conversion rate for that time.

Our stay was wonderful. The location is fabulous and the cottage has everything we needed. We love that there were two bathrooms and the beds were very comfortable. The Crown Land nearby was great to explore. Would stay again!

Such a perfect place to stay!

My family and I LOVED our stay. The views are 10/10. The location was perfect for our East Coast vacation! Close enough to Halifax, Peggy’s cove, Lunenberg, Mahone Bay, for day trips. We also enjoyed exploring the waterfront and the nearby trails. We had the best time, it was hard to leave

This is one of the best places we have ever stayed at! The view is incredible, the house is perfect, and the location is outstanding.

this little cottage is sitting on the rocks of a beautiful fishing village, it was actually better and prettier than the pictures could tell. Very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The owner was very prompt in answering questions. I hope to come back

This was our third stay here and we’re all ready to book next year. For us (and our dog), this place has absolutely everything we want in a vacation. Lovely walks and sunsets, great variety of paddling opportunities, good ocean swimming, and perfect porches to bask/read/watch the world go by.

This cottage setting is line no other we've ever seen. The views of the bay, waves, rocks, village are memorizing. We stayed for four days and would gladly go back again for a longer stay.
The cottage would be considered rustic by some standards but honestly it doesn't matter!!!! We loved every minute of our stay.
Owner was very accommodating and quick to respond to our questions before we arrived. No need to communicate once we were there. Appreciated the privacy.

We really enjoyed our stay at this little seaside house in Prospect! It had everything we needed, and the views were fantastic. Plus it was handy for seeing different sites. Our two pugs loved it too!

Situated right on the coastline in a nice quiet peaceful area where we could relax and unwind after a busy day out in Halifax which is conveniently only a 30 minute drive away.
If looking for somewhere close to town but offering great views, and that peace away from the hassle of town, would definitely recommend.
While some may consider a little rustic in nature, it perfectly met our needs and met all our expectations.
A great find for us for our vacation.

We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage and surrounding area was so perfectly picturesque. We found the location convenient for day trips to Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg, and large grocery stores were not too far away. But the best part was being able to walk down to the very charming Prospect Village, or around the oceanfront trails as the sun was setting. It’s just as beautiful as the more touristy areas, but feels like you have it all to yourself.
Some negatives: the bathrooms and kitchen could have been cleaned more thoroughly. You may want to pick up some bottled water, as the tap water tasted unpleasant to me. The cottage is small, but it was quite comfortable for just me and my husband. I think it would be ideal for a couple + 1 kid, but it might feel very cramped with a larger group.
That being said, the location, the charm, and THE VIEWS make up for any negative. I would 100% recommend this property and I would love to come back some day.

Could have been cleaner. Glad we brought our own water.
Location was great; close to Halifax and Peggy’s Cove

Even though there are homes nearby, this property is extremely private and has a beautiful waterfront with views out every direction. The house itself is cozy, updated and nicely appointed. A huge benefit for us, with a dog, was the access to gorgeous seaside trails right next to the property. These trails are open to the public and we met numerous lovely people, with and without dogs. It was difficult to leave after such a relaxing time!

If you want to hike, fly kites, kayak in a variety of conditions/environments, or just sit on the porch and stare out at the beauty and ever-changing light, this is the spot. Our second time in this great house and everything was perfect.

Location, location, location. The property itself is right sized in our view, and has all the critical comforts. It lacks a few kitchen amenities (aluminum foil, plastic wrap) based on our personal rental stays in the US and Europe, but you will not be worrying about that. You will make do. A portable fan might do you well if you are in warm days, for the extra bedroom or living room. There is privacy, amazing views, the sounds of crashing waves perpetually, making for great sleep. You can swim in the cove right in front. You could bring kayaks and put them in there also. There is a nearby market with fresh veggies and baked goods, there is a restaurant at a golf course that we enjoyed twice. The nearby shore trail is amazing. We went out for sunsets most nights, and you can get quite close to crashing waves and surf. We loved this place. It’s amazing that you can be only 25 minutes outside Halifax, yet feel like you are way out. What i liked most is that Prospect is quaint, and harkens back to my memories of vacations before big money. There are no mansions, and the country has done well preserving shoreline. It’s beautiful and Morry has kept it simple and we loved it.

How can that be when we 3 seniors felt it necessary to contact our host for HELP? Our issue? …. To say how much we were enjoying our stay!
We all grew up by the sea, and have since holidayed in many seafront spots both in Canada and Europe. However, this idyllic Oceanside property and location managed to surpass many of the best of those places. With two verandas for watching tides roll in and out, sun- and moonshine glistening on gentle waves, panoramic vistas of both seascapes and spectacular skies, nearby small islands of remarkable rock formations and resident cormorants, onlookers are treated to the natural beauty of their environs. Don’t forget to hike along the High Head Trail, which offers more expansive views of Prospect Point area.
Within 30 minutes are Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, Shaw’s Landing (restaurant by the sea, with lots of menu choices, especially seafood). A little further is Mahone Bay and Rebecca’s Restaurant (lobster rolls are scrumptious), one of 2 Canadian UNESCO sites - Lunenburg (a stop at Lightship Brewery will reward with local beverages on their immense patio, along with great views of the sea and town, and perhaps the Bluenose schooner in the harbour). We included an Oak Island pontoon boat tour - excellent in-person commentaries are informative and interesting.
Do we recommend this property? Absolutely! Well furnished and decorated, it offers a true “home away from home” experience. We appreciated having 2 bathrooms, laundry facilities, many windows, excellent water pressure and immediate hot water, new kitchen appliances. All spaces were spotlessly clean, well lit and tastefully updated. A real gem by the sea!
Our host was most helpful in providing immediate and thorough answers to our queries, as well as a detailed route from Halifax to the cottage’s front door!

Perfect coastal getaway
Typically we like variety and not to repeat visiting the same location. This place will be the exception. We will definitely be back. Its a breathtaking location. Enjoyed all 2 weeks we spent there, rain or shine.

Stunning location
We spent a week enjoying the beautiful views from the cottage and hiking the nearby trails . Peggy’s cove, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Halifax and the Annapolis valley wineries were some of the places we visited along with nearby restaurants like Rhubarb, Shaw’s landing and the Bicycle thief in Halifax. It was also nice to be able to dine at the cottage surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Atlantic coast.
Charming little cottage with the basic amenities, beautiful views from both bedrooms. We would return again.

Fantastic oceanfront view!
We thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay at this property and will certainly return!
Here you will find beautiful ocean vistas from a quiet cabin and nearby hiking trails. The cabin provides numerous amenities including bedding, blankets, pillows, towels, dishwasher, coffeemaker and filters, and pantry items such as salt and pepper. I recommend that you bring your own supply of bathroom tissue, paper towel and hand soap. We were quite comfortable although I found the mattress in the master bedroom to be too firm for my liking.
A picnic table and two patio chairs are provided on the deck as well an additional three folding chairs that you may find stored inside the cabin. A charcoal barbecue, charcoal and lighter fluid are all available.
The driveway is long and bordered closely by overgrowth. Use caution if you are pulling a trailer. We were able to manage with our 8 foot trailer but you may have difficulty if you are trailering anything longer.
We look forward to returning someday!

Gem of a spot
A truly stunning spot for enjoying the view, hiking along the coast, and swimming in the small harbour. The cottage is very basic but comfortable -- you are renting it for location.

Fantastic
The cottage was very comfortable. The main selling point for this rental is LOCATION. The spectacular NS coast didn't disappoint. Rural, but if you still miss a BIG CITY Halifax is close hop away. Id stay here again.

Beautiful location
My husband and I loved this place. We stayed for two weeks. On the first night we got in late during a monster thunderstorm and we had no trouble using the door code and getting the heat on in the cottage. The views from every direction were amazing. The hiking trail at the end of the driveway leads to beautiful granite boulders and crashing waves. The cottage was perfect, clean and comfy for two plus our small dog. We appreciated the dishwasher and washer dryer. The kitchen was well equipped. I loved watching the lobster boats and birds and just relaxing on the big rocks next to the cottage. We hope to go back again.

Perfect east coast getaway
This was one of the most scenic properties I've stayed at. It was so peaceful that we spent a full day just sitting on the deck enjoying the landscape. Lots of exploring along the shoreline right from the property. Would definitely stay here again.

Very cozy house right on the Nova Scotian coast!
Just as advertised. Right on the coast line. Love the way Canadians are in to recycling. All was GREAT!!

Everything as described and depicted and more! So beautiful and peaceful!
Where do I begin? This property is located in a perfect location. Beautiful views, a park just a few steps away, a short drive away from Halifax... The cottage had everything we needed for my husband, chihuahua and myself. We had a great time and hope to come back even though we live in NC! You will not regret staying here. It is a vacation we will remember for the rest of our life, traveling across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and stopping here for four nights. What a trip!

We loved it, peaceful, quaint, beautiful setting, stunning scenery from every room!
We had a lovely stay in this oceanfront cottage. It was everything we hoped it would be...peaceful, charming, beautifully situated along the coast. Amenities were simple but comfortable. We were convenient to Lunenburg and Peggys cove as well as Halifax. We loved Mabel’s Market just up the road and Rhubarb. Highly recommend this property for those wanting to avoid the rush of the city, and who want to relax and unwind in a glorious setting!

We have stayed in a lot of places around the world but this has been our favorite! It is gorgeous!
The cottage location is perfect , overlooking the water. It is the last cottage on the point. The cottage itself is updated , clean and has everything you could need . We could lay in bed and watch the sunrise and every evening we sat out on the rocks till we could see the stars and Milky Way. We did day trips and saw a lot of Nova Scotia on the south end and across to Bay of Fundy. The people are very friendly and helpful. The lobster and Digby’s scallops were the best! I loved the wildflowers along the roads and in the meadows. I’ve never seen so much Queen Anne’s Lace. The only thing I didn’t like was having to leave. But be prepared for mosquitoes. There were nice trails from our cottage along the rocky coast that were fun. This was THE place to stay! We feel very fortunate to have found it.

Wonderful Stay!
My husband and I stayed here for a week for a relaxation getaway. The cabin was perfect for two people and the views can not be beat.
Pros:
- LOCATION! Outside every window was a view to the ocean
- Walking trails right behind house were wonderful
- Home owner was VERY responsive to all questions
- Easy to navigate to the house
- House was very clean and had modern TV and internet
- Deck off the master was great for reading
Cons:
- No kitchen spices. We cooked a lot at the house and were expecting the bare minimums (salt/pepper/oil). But none were provided. Not a huge issue but was an extra trip to the grocery store.
- Off the beaten path (20 min to groceries) Which can be a pro and con :)
I would definitely recommend for someone looking to escape and just enjoy nature.

What a hidden gem!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at this cottage for a week this July! The views were honestly breath-taking and I couldn't believe the amazing hiking we were able to do just outside our doorstep! We've been to coastal Ireland before and this really reminded me of it! Besides the terrific views, this cottage was clean, cozy and had everything one needed for a great vacation. We loved sitting outside on the beautiful deck and it was also handy having a nice big tv and wifi if we wanted to relax inside. I would definitely return to this cottage if I were ever to visit Nova Scotia again.

Adorable little house in a great location!
The house was as expected and we didn't realize all the awesome walking/hiking that is right in the backyard! It appeared to be some sort of a public park because people parked along the road that the house is on to walk and explore the area, and it was a nice way to get in some exercise every morning. The house has a great location for exploring NS. About a 30 minute drive from Halifax where we visited several local breweries and the water front, 30 minutes from Peggy's Cove (I highly recommend eating at Rhubarb in Indian Harbour which is just past Peggy's Cove), 1 hr 20 minutes from Lunenberg where we did a sailing tour, 1 hr from Grand Pre and Annapolis Valley where there are lots of great vineyards to visit, 2 hrs from Kejimkujik National Park, etc. But we loved the views from the house and had a great time.

This place is a little piece of heaven!
Spent the first week of June 2017 here. The cottage is rustic but clean and comfortable. If you are looking for the Ritz this one is not for you. This cottage is comfortable for two people. The views are absolutely breathtaking!! We would definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Nova Scotia.

A Quiet Retreat from the World
My wife and I had the grand pleasure of spending ten days in this small cottage overlooking the ocean. It was private but easily accessible. We spent many relaxing hours there reading and taking walks around the beautiful area. It also served as our home base as we visited nearby Peggy's Cove and other picturesque sites. The cottage is well furnished, neat and clean. It is small but offered a comfortable place for us to enjoy. We would be delighted to be able to return someday.

Fantastic spot in the universe!
We absolutely loved our four days in Prospect! The cabin was, as advertised, without frills but totally adequate and perfect for the setting. We enjoyed long walks on the barrens, a day in Halifax, a drive down the south coast, and just walking around the village. We met several local people who shared their life in Prospect. Wine on the deck in the evening capped almost perfect days. One rainy day made it easy to cosy in and enjoy the many moods of the sky! My husband, a botanist, was thrilled by the variety of sphagnum and flora on the barrens. He was also very happy to see a great cormorant and so many black ducks! The cabin is a natiralist's paradise. And for the rest of us, it is a perfect place to take time out from the complexities of life-especially those of us from the US suffering from pre-election crazies!

Beautiful location
The sheer beauty of the location of the cottage is outstanding. There is a 360 degree view of the bay, ocean and crown lands. Very private and away from other people. We are going back!!

A getaway from it all
I thought places like this only existed in books. A picturesque cabin surrounded by wild seashore on one side and a quaint ex-fishing village on the other? Too good to be true! It is very true though, and Morry's done a great job maintaining the place. My wife and I adored our time there, and we're already missing grilling lobster by the seashore and being lulled to sleep by the crashing waves. Do yourself a favor and stay here for a week, you won't regret it!
