About this house rental
Awaken to a sun-drenched bedroom view of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Sip morning coffee in one of the lake view sun rooms. Take an early, refreshing dip in the lake, have lunch at a sidewalk cafe or the incomparable Hudson's Hamburgers, and plan a day at the beach or seeing the sights. Later, walk across the park for a supper cruise or an evening of downtown dining and entertainment; then stroll home with the moonlight reflecting across the shimmering water. Fall asleep, stars shining through the skylight. The recently refurbished Gumprecht House is situated on the shore of beautiful Lake Coeur d' Alene in picturesque Northern Idaho. It offers spectacular views with comfortable and spacious family-friendly accommodations, plus close proximity to downtown shops and restaurants as well as the amenities of the famous Coeur d'Alene Resort. Enjoy water sports, lake cruises, bike trails, hiking, golf, antique shops, museums, snow skiing and nature's beauty.
History:: The Gumprecht House sits on property once part of Fort Sherman, founded in 1878 to protect settlers, one of a string of forts built in response to the 1876 Custer massacre. After the fort was disbanded, the property was auctioned off. It was then subdivided in 1905. The lot was purchased in 1906 by the Nevers family and the house built in 1907. It was the first private beachfront house, had the pick of the lots and, consequently, an unsurpassed view. For many years the house was occupied, then owned, by the Graue family who graciously allowed the Gumprechts and others to use the beach. The Gumprecht family acquired the property in 1977 and extensively remodeled in 1981. Elderly grandchildren of the original owner knocked on the door in 1982 to tour the changes and warmly approved. One of them had actually been born in the original master bedroom. They had all passed by the house on annual summer visits to Coeur d'Alene but had not been in the house since before 1920.
Bike Storage: Bikers should like our property as there is a side entrance that proceeds directly to the finished basement which is suitable for keeping their bikes. There is a bathroom and shower in the basement as well that could be useful for runners or others. The 24-mile Centennial trail passes directly in front of the house. And, yes, we have a large pasta pot.
Family room & game room: To provide a break from the elegant main floor spaces the back porch was enclosed years ago, creating a casual and comfortable family area just off the kitchen and breakfast nook. It contains a Big Screen HDTV, Blu-ray player, Xbox and DVDs as well as WiFi. See an earlier description of the game room located in the basement. We aim to accommodate families with children so, in addition to the game room with Wii, foosball, air hockey we provide a pack-n-play, high chair, stroller, 3 booster chairs, coloring books and crayons, board games, dollies, toy trucks, blocks, legos, giant legos, etc. Kids always love it and can whoop it up all they want with minimal disturbance of adults. For the elders, the West sunroom has a TV and blu ray, with French doors that can be closed to provide peace and quiet.
We are intending to accommodate families and other responsible groups. Bad experience has taught us that we do not wish to rent to groups of young men. House parties are forbidden by Vrbo unless expressly authorized.

This was the perfect house for our large family, whose members range in age from 1 to 60. Well-situated within walking distance to coffee, the park, the docks, lake and beaches, the home had absolutely everything we needed in terms of water gear, towels and kitchen tools. It also just had a very homey feeling. We loved all the different areas where the kids could play and we could relax, play and look at the amazing view.

My family and I love it! The house was great! Location awesome! Hope to do this again next year!

This is an amazing home and easily accomodated 11 women for an annual get together. We are all over 65 years of age and easily used the stairs to the upper floors and into the house. Beautiful, easy walk to town along the water and we felt safe walking back to the house in the group after dark. Great restaurants, shopping, farmer's market, bars. House is directly accross a one way street from a grass area and steps down to the water. We were able to put our beach chairs in the sand and toes in the water on a hot day! Loved sitting in the two sunrooms or out on front lawn and watching the people walk and bike by. Everyone was so friendly in the town. House was very well equipted with anything we needed. Basement would be a great area for kids, with toys and air hockey (maybe pool or foosball was there also?). Communication was great between agent and also the home owner. We all highly recommend this home for large group stays and we will return!!

We stayed with 3 families and had many children under 5. The location was ideal for walking to the park, beach, downtown, and marina.
Our family loved that it felt like a home.

Beautiful lakeside home! Fully equipped kitchen, great basement game room, two gorgeous sunrooms overlooking the water, and chairs and towels included for the beach. Short walk to all restaurants and shops. Adjacent to a gorgeous park. Perfect for our family reunion. Would not hesitate to stay again!

The perfect location and great for large families! The property manager was very responsive with a special request we had for our toddler. An absolutely wonderful place and I would definitely stay again!

House is very roomy. Beautiful view from upstairs bedroom and main level “porch rooms”. Advertised air hockey table and there was one, but it didn’t work. Called, and maintenance worker came same day, but couldn’t fix it. Also an issue in one of the bedrooms on 2nd floor with working sockets… of 3 sockets, 1 worked as normal. The other 2 had to have the lights on to work. Maintenance didn’t know how to fix it. Said he would contact the owner. Had to use extension cords in the room which could cause a tripping hazard for small children or older adults. Overall, we had a great time, but these small issues need to be permanently remedied. Don’t advertise a hockey table if it doesn’t work.

This house was amazing. One of the most beautiful homes I have ever visited. Very clean and super comfortable beds. Beautiful back yard. Very private and amazingly quiet and safe neighborhood. We felt very safe here. Everyone in our group enjoyed this home. We did not use the game room in the basement because we were all women over 50 years old but it looked like it would be great for people with kids. Loved the incredible view and the front window rooms looking out at the lake. Only issue we had was with the heat/air conditioning. It was freezing cold in the house and also cold and windy and stormy for our whole trip. When we would set the air to heat and 70 degrees it kept changing out to 60 degrees and air conditioner blowing on everyone the whole time. That is our only complaint.

Wonderful property and excellent location. The house was very clean and comfortable, and well stocked. It was great for all ages.

Beautiful historic home with beautiful lakeside view. 2nd floor bedrooms didn’t have heater vents so extra blankets needed. Everything we needed was there! Thank you.

The family thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed the home - and little six-year old Claire loved transforming one of the porches into "Claire's Snow Room" where we all relaxed and watched the beautiful snow, while Claire served us snacks and massaged our shoulders and feet....she loved making her own spa room in the beautiful setting! The Christmas lights were still up at the resort on night #1 and we walked down to Hudson's for burgers one day....and of course went to Higgins Point to appreciate the bald eagles. No visit is complete without a trip to Pilgrim Market and CDA coffee....we sure fit a lot into this little trip!
Perfect location and stay. Beautiful home and so well appointed with everything needed. Highly recommend!!!

Celebrating 50th anniversary with extended family. Location, amenities, kitchen staples and cookware, dining room, beds and bedrooms, view and location close to town, bike trail. We had a wonderful time in this spacious, comfortable well-stocked house.

A group of family and friends stayed at the house for a wedding we were in and were thoroughly impressed with the set up. This house is very accommodating for a wide age range of visitors and made us all so comfortable. One of the favorite parts of our stay was enjoying the sun room and waving to walkers and bikers as they passed. Our three year old loved watching the sea planes take off and land so we jumped on one ourselves- during which he promptly fell asleep! We loved our time in CDA and could not have asked for a better rental

The property, it’s location and it’s private beach area are first class. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was great to introduce our visiting parents to such a beautiful part of Idaho.

We have such a great time staying here with our kids and grandkids! The weather wasn't as good this year but there are plenty of games available to enjoy.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house is beautiful and stocked with everything you might need. The kids loved the basement with all of the toys! The view of the beach from the front windows was breathtaking and it was a very short walk to the beach and park from the house. Couldn't have asked for a better stay during our family trip!

Great home and location for our school club's summer retreat. Timely, thoughtful and accommodating communication with property owner and manager. Our group had a wonderful time and appreciated every moment of our stay in this beautiful home. Thank-you!

This house is so well equipped to make families comfortable. The proximity to the water and park is par none, but the house itself is truly well stocked with all the necessities for a family. We really appreciated the toys for the kids, the step stools available, the prevalence of beach toys and the well equipped and well organized kitchen.

Great location for families with children. Across from the beach and next to a large park. Plenty of toys, games and puzzles. Also beach toys and children’s float vests. We wanted for nothing.

We came back to CDA and this time brought some friends with us. This property is perfect to just sit and watch the lake from the porch, or take a short walk to everything on Sherman. Roni, the property manager, was very responsive during our visit when we had questions or issues. We hope to return!

We had such a great time on our annual family vacation with our kids, their spouses and our grandkids. The location can't be beat! Everything was walking distance! We didn't have a car and did not need one. The house had everything we needed, including 2 bikes, toys for the kids, comfortable beds, beach toys/towels, a loaded kitchen, etc! We would definitely come back!

The location of this property can’t be beat! The lake view is spectacular and most everything you would like to do is within walking distance. The home is well equipped and perfect for families.

Fabulous location and remarkably comfortable and well-appointed residence. Great view of lake and park. Very close to downtown!

The house has a beautiful unobstructed view of Lake Coeur d’Alene. It was close enough to walk to restaurants and shops. It felt very “homey”. We all enjoyed the well stocked house: small appliances, pans, games, toys, etc.

If you need a property with lots of room, this is it. Four floors including the basement and five bedrooms. The house was clean, well maintained and fully stocked including toys and games in the basement for the kids. Outstanding location and a very quiet neighborhood. The manager Roni was on top of things during our entire stay and did an excellent job of handling any of our request. She also deserves five stars. I am looking forward to returning in the near future.

We have stayed in this incredible lake front home many times. It’s a beautiful home right on the water. Conveniently located near the resort and downtown. Nothing better than sitting in the sunroom with a cup of coffee looking at the lake. Rent this home and you won’t be disappointed.

Very nice place to stay, however the TV was not user friendly even to teenagers who know all about electronics.

Our group enjoyed the setting, the ample size of the gathering places which meant we enjoyed our time as friends. We were blessed.

Once again, our family was able to come together at Christmas and make wonderful memories together in this spacious yet comfortable, family friendly house! It is always very well stocked with everything we need for cooking, making music or just hanging out and relaxing. The basement is a perfect play area for our younger members! My parents love their cozy upper story suite. And although a little colder this time of year, the sun rooms are a perfect place for viewing the lake and the lights at the CDA resort. Roni and her team are always super accommodating and attentive to any needs or questions that may come up. Once again, a 5 star experience always worthy of repeating!

The views from just about every room are phenomenal. The location was absolutely perfect! The house is clean and everything you could need is available. We didn't want for anything (except a fire place). That would have lovely. It's
a very quick walk to downtown, and conveniently located to stores and restaurants. It was perfect spot for my husband and I to getaway. Just what we needed. A little too large without the kids - we'll bring them with us next time - they have everything you could possibly need to host a big family event. We will be back! Thank you!!

This property was warm and inviting, very clean and comfortable King bed (we only used the 3rd floor master bedroom). We appreciated the small touches like coffee maker and mini-fridge in the master suite saved us trips up and down the stairs to the main floor kitchen.

Beyond great, this property has every amenity you will need and a fantastic location to boot!
