Very relaxing area, and fairly easy to get to if you know the island. Close to the grocery stores. Had some challenges with meeting up with our greeters, but our flights were delayed. House is very open air, the details say bedrooms are air-conditioned, but there are no windows, just screens and a curtain in one room. But the in room air-conditioning did cool it down quickly at night. The others have wooden crank shutters. I would call it more like" Glamping". But we adapted and welcomed the lizards for morning coffee and accepted that you will be showering with the small friends and spiders. Some of the pool chairs are showing serious sun damage and we couldn't use them. There are other obvious signs of wear in several areas. I've stayed on the island the last 4 years at different places, and for the conditions it's priced a bit high, in my opinion. But you can't beat the privacy and having a pool to yourself.

Haiku’s property was private and comfortable. The common living area had an open island feel; complete with a pool, jacuzzi, and lush gardens throughout. I felt safe in the quiet neighborhood. We took after-dinner walks to watch the sunset. We met some of the friendly neighbors along the way. There is a locked entrance gate, as well as locked kitchen and air conditioned bedroom areas. Speaking of the kitchen, it was well equipped with everything you need for cooking and eating in. We utilized the grill as well. There were food markets nearby; not walking distance however. The washer and dryer were nice to have as well, although we didn’t need it. We overpacked. All we needed was a few bathing suits, a bathing suit cover, and a few shorts and t-shirts, if that. They also provided beach chairs, coolers, and beach towels for our beach outings.
My husband and I, as well as his sister and her significant other had a wonderful time and are looking forward to booking another vacation at Haiku next year!

Haiku is the perfect place to spend a week in beautiful St. John. The view is amazing, the landscaping is wonderful. The house is very well stocked and with that gorgeous view of Chocolate Hole, we ended up eating dinner at Haiku 6 of the 7 nights we were there! The open air floor plan in the living/dining area and the multiple seating areas around the pool give you plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the break from winter at home. We enjoyed every minute at Haiku and hope to return there in the future

My family, including 2 kids (7 & 9), just stayed for 5 nights as our fall break trip. The house was great for our stay. The open concept made relaxing at the house still feel like a relaxing island vacation. The pool is small, but served our needs well and was used every day. The location was nice - easy to find and not far from town and shopping.

This house is very well equipped. Beach towels, chairs, coolers all ready for the beach. AC in bedrooms was nice touch. The open air living space is amazing. Might need spray since all the rain they are having a field day. Thermo cell units would be a plus. Didn’t use the hot tub but pool every day.

Your home is wonderful.

This is exactly the type of house I wanted while staying on an island. The open living is great to experience the outdoors while the AC and shutters in the rooms provided a nice respite when needed from the heat. The property is exactly as pictured, it's private, and there was lots of fun wildlife to observe. The pool was the perfect size and small things like nice bath and beach towels was much appreciated. Definitely recommend staying at Haiku!

Haiku is a lovely house, the grounds are beautiful and private. The natural setting with Birds and Lizards is delightful. The Amenities, TVs, games, Books, Cooking Equipment, Laundry facilities were all you need to make your stay easy.

We all enjoyed the outdoor living area and views!
The beds were comfy and the kitchen was plenty stocked. The washer & dryer were handy too!
The ocean breeze kept us cool with no bugs, and a/c in the bedrooms made for great sleeping.
I did not like leaving the driveway, there are bushes that block the view of any cars on the road.
The location to Cruz bay was very convenient, however heading the other direction (south something rd) was really treacherous to drive ( steep hills and hairpin turns) After the third day I realized driving into Cruz bay and taking centerline was way less scary.
Overall a great stay and if we ever go back to STJ we’d book again.

This was our first time on St. John. 5 adults stayed. We had plenty of room. The pool and hot tub were great additions though we didn’t spend much time in them. Sitting at the dining table provided a wonderful breeze. We saw lots of wildlife. There were cards and games, 3 coolers, about 10 beach chairs, extra toiletries, detergent, and other extras available for use. The room with the twin beds put together was not as comfortable as a bed. The windows don’t close to help keep room cooler with AC, but there is a ceiling fan and oscillating fan available in that room. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

We had a wonderful trip and loved this house. The pictures don’t do it justice! Open air, surrounded by beauty, there’s so much to love about this place.

House has a very open floor plan that lets you enjoy the outdoors all day long. Very natural setting. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels provided, kitchen has everything you need. Management very responsive...the washing machine was broken, they had repairmen there the next day, they could not fix it so they installed a brand new one the following day. We hated to leave...

Like a previous reviewer stated, this place truly is a private oasis. First, we loved the open breezeway between the enclosed rooms. It was always very comfortable in the open living/dining area. It was neat to walk right into the pool off this area, and the view of Chocolate hole and the open water beyond was beautiful. Didn’t really need the AC in the bedrooms, but it was appreciated a couple of nights. The location is awesome; 2-3 minutes from the nearest market, and 5-6 minutes from ferry and town. 15-20 minutes to great beaches. Surrounding neighborhood was nice, and quiet. The Carefree Staff was amazing as well. They reached out to us as soon as we booked and provided great info and advice. They followed up several times before we arrived, and met us when we arrived on the island. I might add the kitchen is very well stocked. Also, we had several iguana friends that visited regularly, which was fun. We will definitely stay here again.

Our family of four loved this home and St. John. We rented a Jeep and enjoyed the beaches each day. The best part was coming home to the breeze on the patio and pool of this house. Agree with other reviews on towels, AC in bedrooms, beds, well stocked kitchen … overall well maintained. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

This property is spectacular with views over the sea from 2 sides. We enjoyed the proximity to Cruz Bay. The beds are comfy, and the water is hot. A hidden gem just down the street is The Landing. I hope to return next year.

Haiku was just perfect for our family of 6! The beds were comfortable, the air worked great, the kitchen was fully stocked. Appreciated that the kitchen had spices, oils, and other items that made cooking easy and feel like home. Plenty of towels for using at the beach. The pool and hot tub were used each day. Loved sitting out and watching the iguanas, hummingbirds, and other wildlife. I’ve been to St. john several times, and this has been our most enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend and will stay again!

Great location. Open air living worked well for us. Comfortable beds, AC worked well in bedrooms. Kitchen was well stocked with up to date appliances, etc. 4th time to St. John. Would definitely consider renting again. No complaints from anyone in our group of six.

My wife and I, with our friends, had a wonderful stay at Haiku. Location, amenities, and views are fantastic. A short drive or taxi ride to Cruz Bay but still quite and secluded. Highly recommend!

The property is beautiful, just as it looks in the pictures. Nakira met us at our rental car and we followed her to the house. She showed us how everything works, it was a great and helpful way to welcome us!

Haiku was a very different kind of place for us. But we absolutely loved it. The interaction with the local wildlife was fun and I was able to get lots of pictures of birds around the feeder in the morning and evenings. The Bananaquits, Bullfinch (might have been a Tanager??), Scaly Necked Pigeons, T’rushies, Doves, Hummingbirds and pair of Kestrel all visited during our stay. The iguanas made a few appearances and allowed for pictures. As each day passed, we enjoyed the property more and more. Nakira was prompt in meeting us and informing us of the property. We can see why many guests return.

Sometimes you doubt the description & pictures of the property but, this is as advertised. The outdoor living & kitchen areas were just perfect & the bedrooms were all great. We will try & come to visit again.

Haiku was the perfect spot, close enough for a quick drive into Cruz Bay yet secluded and quiet. The pool was perfect after our days at the beaches, and we had breakfast every morning at the outdoor table while enjoying the view. The property managers were quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating when we had to change our dates because of a sick pet.

I guess I'm old school and still don't quite trust these online booking services. I keep thinking that the pictures aren't quite true and that the accommodation won't be as portrayed. I was nervous about this accommodation and it's open air living and having both and pool and a hot tub at this price... I worried it wouldn't be comfortable or one of the amenities wouldn't work or the access to beach and restaurants would not be as easy as described. But my daughter and husband liked the listing and pushed me to book it. I did - and even though all communication with the owner was straightforward and prompt, I still had my doubts. But when we finally arrived I found it to be as perfect and comfortable as described. We were there for a week around Memorial Day and it wasn't too hot and there weren't too many bugs at all - just visiting birds and iguanas! The fans and natural ocean breeze were enough to keep us comfortable and we slept well at night in the a/c bedrooms. The open living concept and the neat little kitchen with window into the living area was fun and convenient. While the roads are tricky and sometimes treacherous all over St. John, it was easy to get into town to have meals or drinks or shopping. We spent our days exploring a different beach each day - but Hawks Nest was our favorite (sea turtles) and we did take a day to drive all the way to the East End/Coral Bay beaches. (That was adventurous be sure you do rent a Jeep and have an experienced driver in your group - the hills and turns are not for the faint of heart.) After beach time we loved returning to Haiku and enjoying drinks by the pool and the gorgeous view. We had breakfast in the morning and packed lunch each day, and we thought we would eat a dinner or two at Haiku, but we just kept going into Cruz Bay to enjoy time at all the fun restaurants. (Woody's, High Tide, Beach Bar, and Longboard were our favorites. Please don't bother with Tap and Still - way too long of a wait for the kind of place it is, the food and drinks took FOREVER, it wasn't even good when it did arrive and service was without a smile.) The kitchen is quite fully equipped with all kitchen essentials including spices and even some condiments. There is a grill - but we didn't actually use it. Haiku was a lovely location and really gave us the true Caribbean experience. Highly recommend and hope to return ourselves!

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay at Haiku for our anniversary week. We loved spending time on the pool deck enjoying the gorgeous views and all of the birds and beautiful, lush landscaping. It was close to everything in town but peaceful and quiet. We loved snorkeling in Chocolate hole which was only a few minutes drive. Would definitely love to stay here again!

Spacious, private, well stocked, great location for getting around, beautiful view, perfect sized pool and hot tub. It had everything we could’ve possibly have asked for. We will be back!

We loved the openness of the space and the separate masters offered privacy. The pool is the perfect size for a quick dip after a beach day. We had hummingbirds in the bushes each morning and enjoyed watching them while we drank coffee. We also relaxed in the hot tub. The only thing I could suggest is perhaps an upgrade in the bathrooms to newer fixtures but overall it was great and we rebooked for next year. PS. Never used the air conditioning; not needed.

Could not have had a better experience. One suggestion is to raise the tv in the master bedroom. Would definitely stay there again!

The entire experience was fantastic. From Cindy providing helpful tips for check-in to check-out everything was seamless. While on the property we didn't hear any neighbors and got to enjoy the large property. The outdoor living room was spacious and kitchen provided a much needed getaway during the Winter. I highly recommend staying here and will consider it again in the future!

Just a brief email to thank you for renting your house to us from 2/25-3/3. My family and I had the best time. Our 10 month old granddaughter began crawling there, and our grandson went snorkeling everyday at Hawksnest. The graciousness of everyone on St. John was fantastic from Carefree to the locals. And the house was magnificent. We just loved it. Actually, I would not go to sleep until I had seen the stars at 2AM. Unbelievable. The aquamarine water, just everything. Superb! How lovely to have a cup of coffee poolside in the AM and to just sit and read and unwind.
