Nice vacation cottage to get away and cool off during the hot summer months in the valley.
4.2
This was a great private cottage with direct access to a private beach and amazing views.
4.2
The view is INCREDIBLE and can be enjoyed sitting up in the double bed or from chairs outside. BUT the beds were so soft that we both slept very badly and woke up with sore necks and backs. They were so uncomfortable that we chose to drive home late in the day rather than stay for our second night. The house was clean but needs maintenance - one screen in the sunroom/bedroom is completely torn at the bottom, many windows have failed and are cloudy, the stairs down to the deck are uneven and sloping etc. A pest control person showed up and spray liquid and spread pellets or something around the house. Fortunately, we asked him if it was safe for our dog and he advised us to keep the dog in for the next half hour. If we had returned to the house ten minutes later, we would have been unaware of the newly applied poison. Instructions for how to get down to the beach below would have been nice. It is easy to walk to but not immediately obvious.

Clean, had everything I needed. Nice view of ocean

The view is amazing!! The area is beautiful and just off the beaten path enough to truly unwind. The Elk store across the way was convenient and Mendocino/Fort Bragg not too far away.
Overall a really great vacation getaway!
4.2
Elk is a great little town with several food options, and we especially loved the Greenwood and the Elk. Trail access to the beach is up the road at the park. Comfy beds and great fireplace. Would definitely recommend and hope to return!
4.2
The location, beach access and view from home was amazing! The home was decently stocked, but some needs some small improvements. The faucet in the shower needs replaced & the sink is rickety in the bathroom. There were ant bait traps all over the home, and we saw a few ants.
The main concern is the entrance to the home. It’s not really the grade of the driveway, but the blind entrance onto HWY 1. The shrubs should be removed and a mirror added for better vision. We had to use my 16 year old son as a look out to pull out of the driveway.
Love the view and location, a few things could dramatically improve the impression of this home.

Stunning ocean view, cozy environment, everything worked, fun walk to the beach.
4.2
The views and access to the beach made this place spectacular! We loved the natural setting above all else.
4.2
Cute place, great views, beach access without crossing roads!
4.2
Great view from bedroom and deck-easy walk to the beach
4.2
Great views, walk to the market, gallery, gift store and great restaurants in the area. We had a great stay!

The views at this rental are spectacular. The house is clean and comfortable. The deck in the back for enjoy the view was so great we sat out to watch sunset even though it was raining. There are many hummingbirds that fly around all over the garden and are also fun to watch.
We had an unfortunate safety issue. We travel with a small travel trailer 6x10 feet and asked if the property was suitable for us to park it. We were told it was suitable . It was not due to the steep driveway that is on a cliff and the size of the parking area. We spent a great deal of time with many texts and calls arranging with Vacasa to have assistance leaving the property safely with our trailer.

It was a great relaxing visit, watching the view. It was nice and warm and cozy! Great clean bbq was appreciated and the home had everything you would need!

Enjoyed the beautiful ocean view the sounds of the waves lulling me to sleep.

The view was great and it was very quiet.

This cottage has a somewhat odd layout, with the sole bathroom accessible only through one of the bedrooms, and the other bedroom separated from the kitchen only by a curtain. But it is perfect for a couple, or two close friends, or a couple with one or two tweens who can share a bed. It’s cozy, comfy, and reasonably well equipped, and the view is amazing. Easy walk to Greenwood Beach and “downtown” Elk. The steep, bumpy driveway is the only serious drawback.

This quaint cottage sits high above the Pacific Ocean with a spectacular view of rocky cliffs and a secluded beach. The cottage was small but comfortable.

I enjoyed the stay . Would have liked more respond from property person on dog question. I also did not get an answer on what the fees were only saw the service fee breakdown on document .

This is our 3rd annual trip and it never disappoints. The view of the beach from the bedroom is breathtaking. I also enjoyed all of the upgrades to the home. It made the stay just a bit sweeter.

This was our second time here, having come for my husband’s birthday about 12 years ago. We still adored the views and the access to Elk and the beach. House was not as clean as we would have liked, and we have separately communicated with VRBO about that. Keyless entry wouldn’t work, which was particularly difficult when arriving during a major storm; nor could we access the lock box because we had not been given the code. Luckily, 5G works here, so we were able to quickly access support and get inside.
Keyless entry still doesn’t work, and the key is very difficult to get out once the door has been locked.
Certain expected items in the most basic kitchen not here: e.g,, measuring spoons, vegetable peeler.
Overall, “Okay,” not great. After our last experience , though, we expected great.

The location and view were outstanding! If you want a quiet, relaxing, simple place where you can sit in bed and stare at a gorgeous view all day long, and walk to a lovely beach daily, this is the perfect spot for you! It was a bit of a drive to Mendo, hiking, etc., but we didn't mind.
Do be aware that the place is not especially private from your cohabitors. The one bathroom is accessible through the back bedroom, and the front bedroom (with the view) has a curtain rather than a door.
4.2
Pretty cozy house for stay with wonderful ocean view.
4.2
The view was lovely and house is clean. But the house is shabby and is suitable for a single or couple only. The second bedroom has no door and has an opening in the wall. The bathroom is accessible only by going through the first bedroom. The carpet is ratty and everything needs an update. Driveway is very steep. We pulled in across the street and then headed in. Very hard coming from the north and it’s not marked. Queenies is not open. The market is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. You need to go to Mendocino for supplies or bring your own. Management was responsive but the pictures do not reveal the obvious lack of a door and open wall. Oh, and despite other online complaints, the shower head is still a trickle on hot. And shame on management. That’s an easy fix. We enjoyed the deck and vista, are out in Mendocino and did our best with the lack of privacy, ie no bedroom door and an open wall, plus entering another bedroom to use bathroom.

“WHAT A VIEW” no matter what the weather. The house is very quaint and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and has a gas range for cooking. I would suggest that you stop at a grocery store on the way to Elk if you are going to cook meals. There is a small Store/Deli but slim pickings. There are two Restaurants one upper scale and one a diner. The bbq is clean and is great to grill on. The bedroom with the view is so wonderful. The feather bed makes you feel like you are sleeping on a cloud…I slept so good! The house is very warm with the gas Fire View and gas furnace they have for heating. It’s very simple to get to the beach below the house. There is a trail across from the Elk Store with plenty of parking. I had a couple of questions about the house and Kat responded right away with answers to help. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who would like to have a quiet get away and I would come back again and stay.
4.2
loved the view and the quick response of changes needed at our location.

We loved the home. It has a great view of the ocean, and the inside was clean. The outside could you some yard maintenance. It would make its appearance much better. The issue that we had was there wasn't any hot water. There weren't any instructions on how to turn it on. The circuit breaker was on, but there wasn't even any warm water. This made it very unpleasant!

I loved:
The scenery, the beach, the isolation and the amenities (hot water, central heating) and the adorable fireplace in the cottage. We felt safe during our stay.
Nice hiking trails nearby.
Walking distance to Queenie's restaurant and the only grocery store.
What can be improved:
The Driveway! was very scary to get our suv into the driveway. It would help if the driveway is leveled and cemented.
The cottage seemed to have been closed for a while. Therefore, even though it was very clean, they seemed to be ALOT of ?dust on the linens/ towels - I spent a great deal of the time sneezing and coughing during my stay because of this. A quick cleaning immediately before arrival of guests is recommended.
The coffee table was broken and almost fell on my 2year old's leg when he was standing near it. We fixed it with a screw driver that we in the cottage.
WATCHOUTS!
1) Restaurant AND the only grocery store in town is CLOSED most days. Queenie's is only open from Fri-Mon. Therefore, you would need to drive to Mendocino for meals/ groceries.
Pro: Kitchen is stocked with the basic supplies in terms of pots and pans.

The view and location are great but there is not a comfortable chair in the house. Threadbare carpet and you are asked to remove your shoes, furniture at best from second hand stores and lumpy mattresses. No beach towels as promised and one dish towel this place could be incredibly cute and comfy with minimal effort. We will look elsewhere for our next stay.
4.2
Great location. Nice views from the house. Kitchen had what we needed to prepare meals. Easy access to beautiful beach, restaurant, and store. A few other fun places to visit around town. Nice little community.
4.2
The process was easy and Vacasa kept in close contact with us during our stay.
4.2
My husband and I stayed a few days to relax and decompress. The views were stunning! The ocean, waves, the sunsets and the stars! It was more than what we could have hoped for. The home was cozy, warm and comfy. The kitchen seemed to have all of the necessities, I was able to cook multiple meals and did not have any issues. It was a modest little home. There was a fly issue, but we left behind a swatter for the next renters. Not too big of a deal. We visited Queenies across the street for breakfast one day, and burgers the next, they were def great. The little store had a little selection of necessities, including coffee. Access to the beach was only a 2 minute walk up the road and the terrain to get down to the water was not too bad. We will be coming back, and I have sent pics and recommendations to all of my friends and family.
4.2
Not that great except for the view.
4.2
The cottage is definitely tucked away but the view is great. I was glad that I read about the driveway and viewed the street online first. The cottage was simple and had some worn spots on the carpet but it didn't bother us. The size was just right for our family of 4 and pet on a quick road trip. The bed in the room with the view is softer than I prefer it but we we didn't stay long enough for this to be a major complaint for us. The stairs leading to the deck overlooking the beach had a lot of overgrown plants in the pathway but we didn't hang out there enough for it to inconvenience us too much or take away from the view. The stores nearby close early and aren't open on Tuesdays but we planned ahead for dinners and snacks when we explored other nearby towns. The drive to other areas of interest weren't bad at all and it's a quick walk to the state beach. It was an overall nice little getaway for the family and I could see us returning.
4.2
Pros: The view on our way to the property is breathtaking. House is clean, and the view is fantastic. Very quaint neighborhood and quiet surrounding. We left the bedroom and bathroom windows open at night, and the sound of the waves was relaxing.
I just wish that there was a direct access from the house to the deck area. But once you get to the deck area, the view was beautiful. The beach also is a walking distance from the house.
Cons: Carpet is old and torn and could use some updating. The windows can be a little bit cleaner so we can have a clearer view of the outside. We found some ants in the kitchen and bathroom area.
Cell service is very spotty. But once you're inside the house, you'll be able to access the WIFI service.
4.2
Absolutely wonderful views. Nice hikes on the beach; for longer hikes, Irish Beach is a short drive away. Local grocery had good sandwiches. Our little seven pound Morkie had a great time too. Plenty of hummingbirds, butterflies around the butterfly bush, etc. Kitchen not quite as well stocked as we had hoped, but definitely enough to throw together some good meals. We used the grill as well and no problems there. We fortunately drove our car with a higher chassis. The driveway would not be easy for a low-slung vehicle. I don’t see how this could be changed; it’s just the way the home is set into the property. Great sunsets, and an all around relaxing weekend. Will definitely stay again.
4.2
We had a beautiful stay in this lovely beach cottage. Much about it was five stars--the view from both outside and inside especially. It's really 4 1/2 stars--the half-star less primarily because it was a bit difficult that the only bathroom was inside one of the bedrooms, and we woke our toddler when using it at night. Also it would have been helpful to have a book with local information (beaches, restaurants, state parks, etc.). Overall a great place and well worth it!
4.2
What a spectacular location! We loved spending time on the deck, listening to the ocean at night time, and being in such a peaceful spot in the sweet little town of Elk. The cottage is so cute, and had everything that we needed. The water pressure in the shower was a little off, but everything else about our stay overshadowed this minor detail.
