Great place, a ton of character, a mix of old and new.

Our group of 8 women stayed at Cook Mansion for the Seneca 7 relay. The house was beautiful and perfect for our needs. We loved having the waterfall in the backyard and used the large kitchen and dining areas for breakfasts and dinners. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. We all agreed it was a fantastic stay and we will be back!

The house was perfect and our stay was perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this property with us.

This was a great house for 12 adults to share. The kitchen was spacious and the dining areas accommodated our group. We enjoyed the town and it was an easy drive to the bus pickup location for the half marathon. A good time was had by all!!

Cook Mansion was just perfect for our large group of 11. Beautiful old house with large bedrooms and every couple had their own attached bathroom. Huge fully stocked kitchen, two dining rooms and nice parlor were all great places to gather. Hosts were very attentive to our needs. Highly recommend the hike along the falls in nearby Watkins Glen State Park.

Wonderful big home. Plenty of space for our 15 guests. Well stocked with everything needed.

We had a wonderful time! Check in was smooth and all the basics were provided. The mansion is not overly decorated so it was great with young ones. Plenty of room for us to spread out and to come together in the evenings. AND I could see the waterfall out of my bedroom window!

We had a family group that ranged from 75 to 33 who were in town to hike Watkins Glen. Everyone liked the property. The waterfall in the backyard was everyone’s favorite feature. Our rooms were incredibly clean and the bathrooms were spotless. The kitchen was well-stocked and very clean as well. There were plentiful extra towels and supplies. The bedrooms upstairs had their own air conditioning units so everyone could choose their ideal temperature. The neighborhood was very quiet.
Since it is a historic house there are storm window protectors so the windows can’t be opened for ventilation. The stairway upstairs is daunting for anyone with bad knees or a poor sense of balance. There is a bedroom on the first floor so it wasn’t a problem for our group.
There was a brochure for a walking tour of Montour Falls that showcased the other historic buildings. Walmart was 10 minutes away in Watkins Glen. Corning and Ithaca are also short drives so this property was ideal as a central base for day trips.
Our host, Casey, was extremely responsive, even at 10pm on a Saturday night. We would rent this property again if we were in the area.

There were 15 of us ladies that stayed at Cook Mansion for 3 nights. There was enough room both inside and out that we never felt crowded. Plenty of showers and bathrooms for everyone to get ready in the mornings. The house had more then ample supplies for our meals and the kitchen was excellent for cooking in. Property is right next to waterfall that was nice to listen to while having coffee or a glass of wine! It is also close to a local trail that we walked every morning and saw deer and foxes. Location of the house was perfect for us as it was easily accessible to Cayuga, Seneca, and Keuka lakes. I would gladly stay again!

The house is right out of a story. Rambling old mansion, but updated with every modern convenience and with clean, friendly, newly renovated decor. All bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. Plenty of exploration available both inside and out. The house itself has more character than any other vrbo we have stayed at. Plenty of corners to poke into, rooms to discover, doors to open, staircases to investigate. The backyard is literally the massive and beautiful Chequaga Falls. We feel asleep to the peaceful susserus of the falls each night. The town of Montour Falls is quaint, and made for a great afternoon of exploring, along with nearby Watkins Glen. The state park had great hikes. Wonderful three nights in a great property!

This was perfect for our 14 people. Each room having its own bathroom is wonderful. Montour Falls is a great place, quiet but close to so much of what the Finger Lakes has to offer. Casey was great and respond to questions quickly. Looking forward to staying here again.

We had a great time at the Cook Mansion! The location next to the falls is unique. Very close to wineries and hikes. House is very large and accommodated our group with room to spare. The stairs can be tricky for older folks but the bedroom on the first floor really helped mitigate that. Kitchen was well stocked. Great place for a family get together. I would stay again and would recommend.

40th Birthday celebration
Spent a long weekend visiting the Watkins Glen area and nearby wineries in celebration of my wife's 40th birthday. There were 5 couples, the house was perfect for the group and we all enjoyed the Victorian vibe with modern updates.

Family Getaway!
when we pulled up the driveway we were shocked at how beautiful it was! The house is very spacious and plenty of room for our party of 13. The kitchen and toiletries we’re fully stocked . The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very cozy and inviting. The two huge dining rooms made it very easy to have an adult table and one table just for the kids to eat at . The outside balcony and deck area it was a nice surprise , we went outside in the evenings and enjoyed glass of wine. There is a beautiful state park( Watkins Glen) approximately eight minutes down the road it was definitely worth a visit . If you were interested in visiting wineries the Seneca wineries were right down the road . The house is located right next to the Montour Falls waterfall which is absolutely breathtaking both day and night. I can’t say enough good things about this rental we had a great time and I highly recommend cooks mansion.

Our group was seniors from 6o’s to 80’s
This was a good location. Just out of Watkins Glen and the high traffic area.
The falls just yards from the house we’re beautiful. There were 6 bedrooms ( two with 2 queen beds each) and 6.5 baths. Half the baths had showers and half had tub/shower combination. There were no safety bars in any of the baths. One bedroom was down stairs if you need accessibility but the bath was not accessible. The stairs are very steep and moving luggage was difficult. Two dinning rooms, a living room and a huge kitchen. The linens were plentiful and a laundry room with two washers and two dryers was a big plus.
Plenty to do in the area for multiple age groups and interest. Members of our group went Soaring, touring waterfalls, winery visits and wine tasting, beer brewing and tasting, hiking the Watkins Gorge ( up or down depending on your ability) Visits to the Corning glass factory, visits to the Glenn Curtis Museum as well as local museums in Montour Falls and Watkins Glen, Boat tour of Lake Seneca , and more. You definitely need car as little is in walking distance but everything is in roughly 30 miles. There’s plenty of parking space for multiple cars.
On the negative side the house was in need of cleaning especially in the outdoor living spaces and entries. These areas were not inviting and there use was not maximized.
Overall a good value for the space and price.

This house is in a great location. Watkins Glen is close by for the restaurants, park, and grocery shopping. The town of Montour Falls is also nice for walking around, and even has a trail you can use to walk to Watkins Glen. It’s convenient for touring around Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka Lakes. The house itself has a view of the waterfall. It was built in 1873, but has a huge, modern kitchen and has a full bathroom for every bedroom. Our group had 4 families (12 people) and it was perfect for preparing large meals or bringing back food to the house. It would have been nice to have had more parts of the house accessible, but I think some areas are still under renovation. All in all, we had a great vacation and the house helped make it really special.

WOW!
We just finished an absolutely amazing stay at this gorgeous mansion! The pictures do not do it justice. The first thing you see as you pull up to the property is a breath-taking waterfall and the mansion is RIGHT NEXT TO IT! Literally in the side yard! And then you pull into the driveway and it would take the most hardened person not to be blown away at the sight of this gorgeous historic building designed in an Italian villa fashion. The entrance for guests to arrive is clearly marked. You enter into an AMAZING kitchen with a massive marble island with confortable chairs around it. Everything you need to feed whatever size group you have is provided.
Walking through the kitchen and down the divided hallway to the left is a laundry room and the first floor bedroom - very convenient for the older folks in your party who may not want to climb stairs. Beautiful and with its own bathroom right off the room. Beyond it is a gorgeous sitting room with couches and chairs. Very relaxing and the perfect setting to start our version of live Clue! Continuing around to the right are the stairs but if you go straight you will enter into the TWO dining rooms! We used one for the adults and one for the kids which worked out great. And beyond the dining rooms is another sitting room which would make a great game room or library. Outside of the dining room was my favorite area of the mansion -- a very relaxing and very gorgeous italian-style patio. Perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and chatting!
Upstairs are the bulk of the bedrooms, As it is a historic mansion, tall people will need to watch their heads going up the beautiful wood staircase. Being 5", I had no problem. Each bedroom is magnificent in its own right and your party will likely have no problem finding the room that matches their personality! Each has its own full bathroom as well. There are 2 rooms with 2 queen size beds in them that we used for the kids and 3 rooms with king sized beds. All have TVs but you won't want to use them. I stayed in the room on the farthest right looking at the back of the house and it has an amazing view of the falls from the bed! The room on the farthest right looking at the front of the house has its own private sitting area - actually 2: one enclosed and one outside. I could go on and on. This is a perfect place for family reunions, get togethers with old college friends, or a weekend away with your girlfriends. The hosts are friendly!!!

The Cook Mansion is truly as described! We had a group of 12 adults and the large kitchen, rooms with private baths as well as dual living rooms and dining rooms made for a great trip for our large group. The location is very close to town and all the wineries. We chose to visit Watkins Glen State Park which is less than a 10 minute drive. Casey is great to work with and promptly answers all your questions. Can say enough about how much we all enjoyed our stay. Will be back!!

Family Reunion
Book this house! My family of 16 had a wonderful time at Cook Mansion. Our youngest family member (7 years old) to our oldest (67 years old) equally had a pleasant stay. The home was spacious enough for it not to feel crowded, but at the same time, the common areas provided for excellent gathering areas. There was enough kitchenware, bedroom linen, and towels to accomodate for twice the size of our party. If you forget anything, there's a Walmart about 10 min away (don't remember exactly, but it was close). I'd definitely recommend this for a quick or long stay.
