About this house rental
This 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath, 3 story North Georgia home is over 3,000 square feet and is located approximately halfway between Dillard, Georgia and Highlands, NC. It has a wood burning fireplace and a fireplace with gas logs on the second floor living/dining area with a beautiful fully equipped kitchen, The 3,900 feet elevation provides wonderful summer temperatures, Bring your whole family to enjoy the serenity of the North Georgia Mountains. It is a great location for a reunion with family or friends.
On the first level of our home is a large stone floored great room with a stone fireplace, equipped with gas logs, and a king bedroom with a full bath. The bedroom has double french doors opening out to a private covered patio. The great room contains a couch for extra sleeping space.
The second floor which is very open and spacious contains the living area, dining area and kitchen. Both the living area has and dining area contain stone wood burning fireplaces the dining area fireplace is equipped with gas logs.i. They contain 3 sets of double french doors opening to covered porches, heart pine floors and 9-foot ceilings. The living area has 2 full size couches and a chaise lounge.
The dining room seats 8 with additional seating at the island in the kitchen or outside on the 2 covered porches where you can enjoy the scenic Blue Valley Mountain view. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. This floor also contains a half bath.
The top level of our lodge opens up into a bright and cheerful sunroom which contains a day bed with a pullout trundle which pops up and makes an additional king bed if needed. Opening off of the sunroom are 3 king bedrooms which all have private baths. The master and the sunroom open up to a covered porch where you may want to sit and read a book or just enjoy the mountain views.
As on the second floor you have the heart pine floors & 9' ceilings. Lots of windows and French doors allow you to enjoy the scenic mountains whether inside or out.
My guests have access to the pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna, tennis courts, and work out facilities at Sky Valley Resort which is approximately 2 miles from the cabin.
Take advantage of the shopping and wonderful restaurants in the quaint towns of Highlands and Dillard. Visit nearby waterfalls and hiking trails. Rabun County is home to Lake Rabun and Lake Burton which have boat rentals or feel free to bring your own. There is also summer rafting and tubing nearby. In the winter, Scaly Mountain, NC provides snow tubing which is only 3 miles from our home.
Sapphire Valley Ski Resort in NC features great snow skiing, snowboarding and is located less than an hour away. Enjoy the solitude of this lodge yet you are just off the state road with a paved driveway. Only 2 hours from Atlanta.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! The kitchen is well stocked; the decks are amazing; and having a king sized bed and bathroom for each of us was so nice. The house is conveniently located between Dillard and Highlands. We had a great time and will definitely stay again if we take another trip to this area.

We rented this gorgeous property to celebrate Thanksgiving with our adult children and grandchildren. This was our first family gathering since our oldest graduated High School, so it was a very special occasion. We could not have been blessed with a better location, nor a better hostess. The experience was an easy process from the beginning up until the very end. The hostess communicated everything from directions, entertainment options, check in/out process and everything else imaginable. As an added bonus, the house was immaculately decorated for Christmas…..which delighted our grandchildren beyond measure. We simply cannot express our gratitude and satisfaction with this property and owner. The pictures of the location are accurate, and the home has everything needed for a family gathering.

This was a last minute getaway for 3 couples. The lodge was perfect. It has 4 very comfortable king suites all with bathrooms! The kitchen was fully stocked. We enjoyed mimosas and brunch at the large dining room table. The views were amazing. We were a little late in the leaf season but still had wonderful fall views. The lodge has great WiFi service. It is located halfway between Dillard, Highlands and Franklin. Within 20 minutes you can be shopping, hiking, fishing or sharing a delicious meal with friends. We hope to return for a repeat getaway!

The property was lovely and well maintained. I spoke or texted with the owner several times because we had a slight mix-up on the access code, but once it was resolved, all was smooth sailing. She was kind and understanding and concerned that we should enjoy ourselves to the fullest. We made a few picky, incidental suggestions and she said that she thought they were good ones and would follow through with them for the improvement of the property, but we found nothing major to complain about. The stairs might be a bit hazardous, but they are well lit and the light switches are all clearly marked, so I don't think one should have too much trouble with them -- just be alert.
It's not easy to find a place with en-suite baths for each bedroom and that is the plus that we were looking for. The bathrooms are not huge, but they are adequate and each of the bedrooms are very nice. It was hard to choose which one to take -- I was the first to arrive, so I got first choice and it wasn't an easy one to make! The kitchen was obviously first rate and we were very pleased with all the meals we were able to prepare and enjoy in the lovely dinning room.

Wonderful property nestled deep in the woods. Donna went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Property was among the most well stocked as far as cooking supplies and all the necessary items. Donna provided detailed directions, take them seriously or you will be lost as GPS doesn’t bring you to the correct spot. We arrived late and Donna was kind enough to stay on the line with us and guide us to the correct spot. Perhaps the listing can include coordinates from the actual property location so guests can just pop that into navigation using GPS as the roads and backroads are very dark, more so as we visited on a foggy and wet weekend.
We LOVED that the house had white noise machines in every room, the kids loved the mini basketball goal in the garage and the entire home seems to have a fancy water filteration system. None of these were advertised but very much appreciated. We will be back for sure!

One of the best ever!
Needing a change from the beach, this was a fabulous family vacation. The Daughtry's home was warm, inviting, spacious, and perfect for our family of 6. The 26-30 year-olds had a ball ziplining and hiking to Muddy Falls waterfall. An afternoon in Highlands checking out the shops, followed by dinner at On the Veranda. Last full day was in the antique, thrift and flea-markets of Clayton and Dillard. Many meals at the house, including charcoaling steaks one evening. We ran out of time for everything on our list, but we'll be back.

Lovely... enough space for everyone... large pots-(I brought some - didn't need them), nice area to take trash. Drive is tricky- we had 5 vehicles in there at one time, but can turn a suburban around with a little patience. its a beautiful home, and clean! 2 washers and dryers... loved it!!!

Lovely Stay!
I'll start with the only thing we found to be tricky - the driveway. It was steep at first, but leveled out. We found it a little tricky to maneuver when we first pulled in, but got it figured out. We had 2 trucks and 2 cars but managed to get them all turned around parked just fine. It's to be expected since it's in the mountains, so it's not a negative comment - just something to be aware of.
Check in was super easy! Donna messaged us all the information prior to our arrival and even checked in on us the first evening to make sure we didn't need anything and encouraged us to contact her should we find we needed anything or had questions later.
There was plenty of space for 8 adults (4 couples) and one child. The beds were super comfortable and everything was clean. There were plenty of towels, wash clothes, and linens. We found everything we needed in the kitchen as we made dinner 2 nights and breakfast one morning. The dining room table was perfect for our party.
We spent most of our time outside on the decks or on the first floor patio by the gas fire pit. We also loved all the doors that could be opened onto the different decks. We liked the decorations in the cabin. It was the perfect combination of cozy and spacious.
We appreciated the suggestions for the waterfalls that were left. We visited one and also visited the Highlands area. Overall, we had a great weekend stay and would recommend this cabin.

A nice place to be on family
The cabin was great for a family gathering as it is very large with three rooms upstairs each with a king-size bed and a private bathroom. The first floor had additional sleeping space with another king bed and a futon. So space was ample plus it had decks on all 3 floors. The cabin also had a large kitchen and dining area in the second floor that was very nice. The views from the different decks were relaxing but not the spectacular mountains we were expecting for location. Only minor issue for those needing to work from the cabin the wifi service was very weak and unreliable. The trash has to be disposed with a 20 minute drive and the cabin cleanliness could have been better (still had christmas decoration). Overall we had a very nice stay and we would certainly consider staying again!

Great for Digital Detox
The house is beautiful and it's a great location near Dillard and Highlands. The kitchen is very well equipped. Bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious. But there was no cell phone service and the WiFi was EXTREMELY SLOW. The owner was responsive to our communications about the WiFi issue, but ultimately we had to go to a public library in Highlands to get any decent internet access. There is a landline, but the reception was spotty. Do not rent this house if you expect to work remotely during your vacation.
Also, for young children, the stairs leading from Floor 2 to Floor 1 seemed kind of dangerous, but we found a baby gate in the house that worked well. The yard area is great, but you have to watch young children closely because there is a drop off on the side of the house.
Overall, the property is great and we would recommend it for anyone who is okay with completely "unplugging." There were toys, a pack-n-play, and a booster seat, which we found very useful for our toddler. The safety issues outlined above were manageable, but it would have been nice to be able to let our toddler play in a fenced area outside.

Perfect Hideaway
Our family stayed here in July while attending a wedding in Highlands, NC. We were all very pleased with our short stay of 3 nights and only wished it could have been longer. The house was immaculate and nicely decorated with a cozy, mountain cabin "feel". The beds and linens were nice, the kitchen was well stocked for the very few times we were able to cook, the outside decks were spacious enough with comfortable seating, and the three levels were appreciated as it allowed enough privacy for those who wanted quiet time. We were able to use some of the resort facilities for a brief time whilst there as well. The pool was close by, clean and not too busy. The personable owner, Donna, made every attempt to make the stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible ; her attention to detail made you aware that she takes great pride in her home. She was also very attentive and quick to respond when I had to call/email with several questions. We have stayed in quite a few VRBO's and I will say, this one was one of the best.
