About this house rental
Perched on a rise in the beautiful lower Berkshires of Litchfield County, this house is your ideal escape from city life! A modern house with a New England farmhouse feel, surrounded by lawn and flower beds, with green views from every window of this sun-filled cottage. Situated in the tri-corner region of NY, CT, and MA, it sits on a breezy rise overlooking hay fields, and is surrounded by gardens featuring a stand of pines and butternuts. The west-facing deck, living room, and master bedroom, overlook the sunset beyond the hay fields, with Indian Mountain defining the horizon. The trip from New York City is either by car (1.5 hours), or by rail. Wassaic station is 20 minutes away and it is the last stop on the Metro-North Harlem line.
In the fall, the autumn foliage and sparkling blue skies of the season are in full display at this location. This listing is ideally located for visitors to the Hotchkiss School. For the intrepid, the Appalachian trail is very close for a pleasant day hike. Apple picking and berry picking or any local day activity is punctuated by cosy evenings at the fireplace or flatscreen TV in the living room.
Winter at the house takes "cozy" to another level. Enjoy resting indoors by the fireplace, while watching the snow fall all around. If you are a skier, within a 20-minute drive you will find skiing at Mohawk, and if you head north, Butternut, and Catamount are also a great weekend choices in nearby southwest Massachusetts.
Besides Hotchkiss School (5 minutes), Kent (20 minutes) and Indian Mountain school (10 minutes) are also nearby. This home could not be more convenient for parents up for a weekend to combine rest and visiting with a son or daughter.
Lion Rock Farm and Hotchkiss Farm, popular wedding venues, are less than a mile away.
The house features a kitchen with modern stainless appliances, granite counters, and a 30 bottle wine cooler. Anderson windows are everywhere, wood floors and marble tiled baths. Cable service, broadband internet and WiFi keeps you connected, ... if this is what you must do.
Wildlife is everywhere, birds of all kinds, owls, hawks, ducks, geese, turkeys, foxes, bobcats, deer and black bear. Yes, black bear, so we urge our guests, especially those with small children, to avoid getting close if one appears. They are most active in early spring.
We hope to hear from you!

Busy running back and forth to Lime Rock for a car event, but able to enjoy a peaceful stay upon returning to the house. Highly recommend this house, but really don’t want to so I can have it all to myself, when needed.

My wife and I had a good stay. Appreciated the firewood and fireplace on the chilly nights and mornings.

Excellent home on beautiful property. Perfect for quiet stay in a country setting. Picturesque "old New England" area. We stayed in January and house is warm and comfortable. Fire place in living room was awesome. Wood burning stoves in each bedroom is also a nice feature. Plenty of seasoned fire wood provided by owner. All needs were met. Owner was very flexible and accommodating and even checked-in with us during our stay due to impending snowstorm to reassure us driveway would be plowed timely and he was available for anything we may need. Would highly recommend this home.

Cozy, warm and homey place. Sad weather was drizzly and did not permit the use of the beautiful outside.

This was our second stay at this delightful house that brings the scenic masterpiece of nature from every angle through the multiple windows throughout the house. The large windows in the kitchen/dining room area were designed to capture the setting sun over the beautiful country landscape Serge, the host, is very hospitable and very responsive to communication The house is exceptionally clean , comfortable and equipped with everything one needs to prepare meals The surrounding areas are very picturesque and we had an excellent dinner at The Woodland in Lakeville where we have eaten a few times over the years and dies not disappoint.
We also ate in Le Gamin fir lunch which was also very good and comparable to authentic Parisien fare We plan on returning next year as it keeps calling us back.

Wonderful stay. Probably the best VRBO we have stayed at. Every thing we needed was there, clean, tidy, and comfortable. Best sunsets!!

The moment you walk into this charming home, you are transfixed by the setting. The house is secluded in a serene and picturesque pastoral setting with a view of the mountains in a beautiful meadow brimming with birdsong, deer and rabbits and a bird ‘s eye view of the sun. All the large windows throughout the house capture the view in its essence. The house is airy and well lit by the light that filters in through all the windows
Every amenity is thought of from quality appliances, pots , dinnerware, comfortable bedding and accommodations for whatever cooking utensil you could possibly need. The barbecue grill is new and has a large capacity
This home is exceptionally clean and Serge and Lannyl were very responsive and gracious The four poster bed in the upstairs bedroom has a breathtaking view and a perfect way to be lulled to sleep. The photos on the website don t do it justice but it s always a nice surprise when a house surpasses your expectations. I plan on returning n the Fall for another spectacular nature show.

Perfect home away from home!
We were charmed by the view and the serene setting in a glade alight with fireflies at night and wildflowers by day. The house had every amenity, well stocked kitchen with many extra touches. Air conditioning in bedrooms made our stay really appreciated in the humid heat of July. Our family loved it and will come again!!! Great location for local wedding attendees 🥰

Super property
While the house itself isn't notable from the outside, it is wonderful inside, and the view is incredible. The 2 main bedrooms, dining and living areas are large and pretty; there is even a separate wardrobe room off the main bedroom. Pretty patio overlooking a meadow and ,mountain, as do the common areas and main bedroom. The hosts have thought of pretty much thought of - and stocked - everything, (Including coviid self-tests, which we unfortunately needed.) We would definately use again.

All around great stay/experience
We had an amazing stay in Sharon, CT! The house was beautifully arranged, clean, inviting, and cozy, just as described. Lannyl and Serge are great hosts and were very helpful and friendly in their communications, especially as we needed to adjust our dates. They even reached out when they found our daughters slippers which we left behind, and offered to mail them to us. We will definitely try to stay there again on future trips to the area.

Great place with an amazing view
A really great NorthWest CT home that we loved spending our holiday in visiting nearby family. The owner helped us coordinate our arrival (which is not easy with a toddler) and we enjoyed our stay throughout the two weeks. The West/SouthWest mountain views never get old and the home felt cozy even as the temperatures dropped. A great stay.

Home with a View - Improvements are needed
We just wrapped up a north east road trip which included a 2 night stay at this rental in October 2021.
Pros
- Nice view
- Private setting
- Close to town
- BBQ is nice
- Everything needed to cook including sharp knives (we have stayed at many rentals and never had sharp knives)
Cons
- House was not professionally cleaned prior to us visiting; evidence of spider webs/dust etc.
- Musty smell throughout the home (it soaked into our clothes)
- No king size beds (really need at least one)
- Smaller TV on odd angle (important for us as it rained quite a bit)
- Back deck (with the view) is too narrow to be useful
Bottom line.
The town of Sharon is very quaint (like out of a movie).
There is a park with a nice waterfall about 15 minutes away that's great to hike and take pics at.
The area is very nice, especially in the fall.
With that said, this listing really needs improvements to get it to a baseline comfort level.
We'll visit the area again but will definitely stay elsewhere.

A Slice of Heaven!
What a beautiful home and plot of land in which to enjoy a “girls weekend” with my Mom and sisters! The house with its huge windows is full of light, simply decorated, with all the amenities we needed, and we spent much of our time outdoors, enjoying sunset views on the deck and starlit nights around the fire pit. We loved the peaceful surroundings and comforts your house provided.
We look forward to returning to enjoy the different seasons in this beautiful corner of Connecticut. Spasibo...thank you, Serge and Lannyl, for sharing your lovely home with us!
Best regards,
The Feduik girls: Lynne, Carol, Tanya, and Natasha

Wake Up To A Beautiful View!
This cozy home worked perfectly for a weekend stay while attending a wedding at nearby LionRock Farm. It was nice being spirited away from the main road with pastural and mountain views, and we enjoyed setting a fire in the fireplace at night. Sadly we didn't get to spend much time at the house, but if we're ever in the area again we would return to this property!

Lovely house in quiet surroundings
The situation of the house was perfect, surrounded by fields and with lovely views and sunsets from the back porch. It was also very comfortable and quiet. There are a couple of reasons why I didn't rate it with 5 stars. There weren't enough cereal bowls for potentially 6 guests - only 4 cereal bowls and 4 mugs. It would take very little time and expense to equip the kitchen more extensively. Also the kettle which was really bad and corroded and needed replacing. The handle fell apart whilst pouring a cup of tea and nearly caused a scalding accident and a washer from the handle was discovered at the bottom of a cup and luckily wasn't drunk. There was only one bedside light in the downstairs bedroom and so we borrowed one from upstairs. We were very confused by the downstairs bed and the way it had been made up. The mattress was very soft and squashy and we discovered a couple of days later that the warm feather quilt (which surely should have been on top of us and not underneath) had been put on the mattress beneath the bottom sheet?!!! and on top of the bed was only a very thin blanket which wasn't nearly warm enough for the chilly nights. I'd love to know why. We took a quilt from one of the upstairs beds to use over the top of us to keep warm.
We ate in The Stacked Kitchen in Sharon and enjoyed a very tasty and reasonably cheap meal. Ashley, the owner was very friendly and helpful and the service was good. The area around Sharon is beautiful.

Had a great stay
We had a great stay here. The house is very nice, clean, comfortable and just enough privacy. We had some family over and there was plenty of room for everyone. The bed in the master bedroom was so comfortable that we immediately purchased the same mattress pad online as soon as we got home.
Would definitely rent again!

Right down the road from Lion Rock Farm
Very nice house. There were 6 of us staying here for my son's wedding at Lion Rock, we were very comfortable here and we were able to host other family members before and after different wedding weekend events. We had yard games set up for kids and adults, this house is a must if your having an event at Lion Rock Farm.

Excellent Stay
We had a wonderful 3-week stay at this great getaway in Sharon - plenty of space, nice layout, simple and elegant furnishings, beautiful view from the living room windows and close to Sharon, Millterton and several other places with good restaurants and activities. The yard was the perfect amount of space for our kids to play and Mudge Pond was a good low-key swimming spot nearby. The house was more than enough room for 6 people. The hosts were very accommodating and provided some good ideas for restaurants and activities nearby. We look forward to staying again in the future.

We loved our stay here!
Thank you for a wonderful weeklong stay! The owners communicated quickly and clearly - much appreciated. The location is secluded and beautiful - gorgeous view from the living room. The ceiling fans throughout were much appreciated as the week was warm. The home was clean and outfitted well for our needs. Everything was as described and the location was perfect in proximity to our daughter's wedding at Fairfield Farms.

Great stay!!
We really enjoyed our family time here! It was great for our kids to play safely outside in the large yard where the parents and grandparents could see them (and the peaceful views!) easily out of the many windows. We found it tastefully decorated and had all the comforts of home. It even had kids' books, videos and balls for the kids to enjoy. The beds were by far the most comfortable beds we have slept on while away from home. The space was more than adequate to accommodate a group of 7 for several days, the kitchen cabinets were well stocked with cookware, it had a full size washer & dryer and comfortably sized bathrooms. The driveway entrance was difficult to find, especially at night, but it's not a deal breaker.
The only thing we would change is to come when the weather is in the 70's or below. Since it didn't have central air, it got quite warm during our last two days/nights (up to mid90's). The fans provided did help some.
Overall, we'd definitely return to this lushly-surrounded and well-thought-out vacation home.

Lovely Weekend Escape
My husband and I so enjoyed our weekend in this beautiful home. The house is very private and set back a nice distance from the road. All the windows flooded the rooms with light and fall air. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated--a perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! This was our first experience with a private rental (necessitated by a mistaken double-booking at a local inn that, thankfully, was discovered two weeks before our visit). The owner was very gracious and welcoming in our correspondance, the house was so much better than a room at an inn, the convenience of the well-appointed kitchen was a delight, and the discovery of a great selection of DVDs a bonus! (We chose Shakespeare in Love, of course.)
Though our trip was just for two, the house would easily accomodate a larger family with two twin beds in the second upstairs bedroom. Also, as the third bedroom with a queen bed is located downstairs and attaches to the second bathroom, it's equally ideal for grandparents to come along, or for two couples to travel together. For active families, a small soccer field (with goal nets) runs on the side of the wooded property.
The quality of area restaurants was another pleasant surprise. I'd highly recommend Giulia's and Pastorale (where we enjoyed our French dinner on a romanticlly-lit, grape-vine-sheltered porch). We had never visited this area of Connecticut before and were charmed on our bike ride past beautiful old farm houses and quaint towns.

Thomas Kinkade Cottage
This is a beautiful home to recharge and enjoy the surrounding hamlets of CT, NY, and MA! The home is large, clean, fully stocked and very comfortable! Our family of 4 stayed here on two different occasions while visiting our son at an area school. The boys played touch football in the yard by day and watched TV at night. Nearby towns were filled with interesting shops and the scenery was fantastic - like a Thomas Kinkade painting! Each morning, the glorious sunrise greeted us through the upstairs windows and we watched the ducks and geese heading south. While enjoying our coffee on the porch, a farmer on his tractor would ease by on his way to the fields. This very charming home can easily accomodate the entire family and the location couldn't be better: Sharon, CT: 5 minutes away; Lakeville, CT: 5-7 minutes away; Millerton, NY: 7-10 minutes away: Amenia, NY: 10 minutes away; Salisbury, CT: 10 minutes away.
