This beautiful lakefront South Hero cottage offers breathtaking views of the Green Mountains and Outer Mallets Bay. Boasting close proximity to grocery stores, restaurants, and Burlington, everything you need is nearby. Biking is a very popular activity during the spring, summer, and fall, with the scenic Island Line Bike Trail only a few minutes away. Fishing in Lake Champlain can be enjoyed year-round. Don't forget to bring your kayak or rent one at a local shop to head out on the lake during a warm summer's day.
Come back to a spacious and well-equipped cottage prepared to host the entire family. The eat-in kitchen is well-stocked and has the appliances needed for cooking a hearty dinner after a day out on the lake. The cottage is also perfect any time of year: you'll stay nice and warm in front of a cozy fire on chilly winter nights, or spend lazy summer afternoons lounging outside on your lakefront deck. Speaking of which, soak up the amazing views and relaxing ambiance of Lake Champlain while on the deck, or through the cabin's towering windows. If you're up for an adventure, take the steep stairs down to the rocky beach for a dip in the lake, to cast a line, or launch a boat (the mooring can support a 20-foot boat).

The weather was great. The mooring had no access to get back and forth to shore . The 70s cloth sofa was less than desirable.

Our family spent 4 days on Inselheim Road and loved it. The house is extremely well stocked for a larger group. There is plenty of space to eat meals together and lounge together. There are also plenty of spaces for alone time. The views, when present, were lovely. (Canadian wildfire haze was present.) The lake is a real joy to swim in.

This house offers a beautiful location and view. Don’t be confused by the information in the listing, this property DOES NOT include air conditioning. There are comments in some reviews about the AC. Property manager was contacted and we were told that previous renters had also called about the AC; we requested pin# to turn on AC but were told “this unit does not come with AC” even though it is in the house.

Good rustic home to enjoy the island one. Sweeping views of the lake with access via a steep stairway. House is comfortable with all the fixings you need- full kitchen, clean bath and bedrooms. Only complaint is vacasa themselves- asked for a late checkout(wanted an hour) and they only option was to pay extra and have four more hours (not needed). Ridiculous to nickel and dime like that when who knows what time the cleaning crew showed up since they weren’t there when we checked out at 10… also had landscapers blowing leaves at 7am Friday morning while we were trying to sleep. House = good, vacasa= bad

The beds have body dents from (guessing) more than 20 years of bodies sleeping in them. The fabric couches are so old and dirty! We didn’t even stay one night of our four night stay. Terrible!!!! Don’t let the beautiful views trick you!

This a great place for families with 8-10 people, with lakefront (east facing) deck, private access to the lake and fully stocked with sheets, blankets, towels - like a hotel. Only one shower though. It has heating (of course!), which wasn't clear from the listing. It has a 70s - 80s feel inside, charming and slightly dated. All in all, pretty decent place. Will book again.

The house is nice, it has a well stocked kitchen and a great view of the bay. There is a barbeque grill even though Vacassa said there wasn't. The downstairs bedroom and bath are nice, the upstairs rooms are sparse and could use an update. The reading loft is a nice touch with some books available for you to keep if you wish. Water access is 42 steps down a cliff face. Okay if you're not carrying anything. Location is relatively private and quiet.

This home has central air conditioning which was needed this past week. The lake view was amazing! We witnessed a twin rainbow 🌈 over the lake. Plenty of sleeping options for all 7 of us. ( could use a few more comfortable mattresses) Still a 5 star review from all of us.

Our family of 5 loved our stay. The views from the deck are breathtaking and the space was very comfortable with everything we needed. Easy to get to Burlington, the island itself is charming. A delightful place to visit.

A beautiful cabin in a very magical place
The cabin is very well equipped and is located in a wonderful place right in front of the lake. We love the place but it was a disappointment not be able to use the chimney despite of been advertised as a possibility. We were informed firewood was the only thing we needed to bring with us and the we find out it wasn’t working

Beautiful and quiet
My wife and I stayed here in early November and the leaves were still colorful and the property was beautiful! We enjoyed sitting on the beach, watching the sunset, and listening to the waves lap up against the rocks.

Lovely lake house
The house was as described in the listing. Conditions were superb and the kitchen was well stocked. Hoping to get back here, we really loved the location and serenity but on this trip couldn’t stay longer. Strongly recommend the house.

Rediscovering Vermont
The property and home are beautiful! The only negative was the coffee pot grounds had not been emptied and we had no filters. We made do and enjoyed ourselves. The bed was very comfortable!

Good but not great
We enjoyed the location, on-site outdoor grill, and the central air system! There are a few areas for improvement though. The mattresses have seen better days and are not very comfortable; the furniture is outdated and musty. The entertainment center is lacking and there is no way to log into netflix/Hulu; the porch is lovely but would be even nicer with more comfortable furniture. Overall, it worked for us because of the location but underwhelming for the price.

Perfect Home Away From Home
This cottage is located in a quiet, peaceful location yet it’s fully equipped with all the amenities. You get to experience the changing moods of Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains. The surrounding fields are full of wild game. You are only a few miles from the center of town. My choice in the future.

Beautiful Lake Property!
We so enjoyed this spacious retreat over a long Easter weekend! The incredible sun rise and moon views over Lake Champlain, super well-equipped kitchen, cozy fireplace - highly recommended, we hope to return soon.

A lovely cottage right on the lake
this is a nice house with a beautiful view across the lake toward Mt. Mansfield. The house is well-equipped, and as advertised. The property managers provided lots of information, and the communication, though entirely electronic, was prompt and complete. We would be happy to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful place and the unseasonably warm weather made our visit especially good. Mattress in the master bedroom is a fail - slants down to the middle - and husband ended up sleeping in the laundry room. The pad on the mattress just makes it lumpy. Adult daughter slept on the couch because the mattress in her room upstairs was very uncomfortable. FYI there is no salt in the kitchen either in the shaker or anywhere else.We brought our own sheets to cover the couches because the plaid and floral combination was a bit too much especially for a member of our group sensitive to such things - a little on the spectrum. We appreciated that cleaning supplies were provided. The shower is very nice but would be so much better with a better showerhead and hose to make cleaning the tub easier. For an older person like me the shower seems slippery and there was no grab bar. It seems to drain slowly so the soap sits on the tub and makes it slippery. Accident waiting to happen.

Overall, at first glance the looks building deceiving but once we got in, wow! It’s actually a “don’t judge a book by its cover” - the interior is excellent, the lake and sky view offered an unmatched bonus! Very clean! All members of our team were thrilled and no questions asked. By the way, our stay included a hike to Mt Mansfield, reconnect with a relative at UVM, frequented Church st. at Burlington, walk beside Lake Champlain and many more.. all within an okay distance.Everyone says “ we wanna be back here! It’s a perfect getaway!”Thank you very very much!

5 out of 5 Stars
This is the second year our group of guys stayed here and it's great. 5 out of 5 Stars. Will stay here again.
Here are some great of the great amenities that made this place a top-notch place to stay:
- Above the fireplace, the painting of the lake across from the big view of the lake was a great design choice.
- The assortment of teas was exquisite.
- The labels on all the light switches was clutch.
- The night lights in the bathroom were amazing. You have no idea how handy that was in the middle of the night
Here are a few suggestions I would add to make the experience a 10 out of 5 Star experience...
- This house has 2 coffee makers, but no pizza cutter. A pizza cutter is an absolute must. When people check-in and bring their own food, frozen pizzas are a staple for them. You can't not have a pizza cutter in this place. You have no idea how disappointed I was when I went to cut our pizza and could not find a pizza cutter. I needed to use a knife but with the absolute tender loving care.
- There is a book titled "History of South Heroe Island Volume 1" The Volume 1 insinuates there's a Volume 2, but sadly there is no Volume 2 in the series.
- The refrigerator makes noises like an old man clearing his throat. The compressor is hella outta shape and should seriously get looked at. That fridge is one its last leg.
- There are signs in the bathroom saying that the "plumbing is sensitive". For a house full of 5-6 guys eating terrible junk food for a long weekend, you are playing Russian roulette. All I can say is thank goodness there's a window nearby.
That's it. Can't wait to book again next year.
