THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Long before Beverly Hills was 'Beverly Hills', there was Mid-Wilshire, one of the oldest, most affluent, architecturally well-preserved and star-studded neighborhoods in Los Angeles. 'The Rosewood' cottage was originally built to house visiting movie stars back in the Golden Age of Hollywood, though the real stars here are the centuries old Californian palm trees that line the streets of Mid-Wilshire and have become an LA staple!
The neighborhood features prominently in TV shows like 'Private Practice' and 'Castle' and tons of movies. The studios are constantly filming around the neighborhood, so if you want to catch real production in action you're in for a treat. We are big foodies and love the restaurants around here but don’t take our word for it- even celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain testifies to all of its amazing places to eat, drink, and hang out in our neighborhood!
The cottage's location could not be more convenient for anyone needing to get around Los Angeles. Walk West and you’re in Larchmont, one of LA's most serene, quintessentially home-bound neighborhoods. It's a 15 min walk to Larchmont Village, LA's version of Main Street USA. Don't miss the Sunday farmer's market to see celebrities buying organic veggies and gourmet cheeses (mmmm!)
Walk one or two blocks East and you are in Koreatown, home to the best Korean BBQ in the world (seriously, it's better than in Korea according to Koreans)! The nearby Koreatown bars will blow you away. Our favorite bar, 'Blipsy's Barcade', has cheap drinks, 25-cent 80s arcade games, and an unmatched jukebox. It's empty before 10, and after it fills with supercool 20-somethings. Also check out 'The Copper Still', a more upscale intimate bar with specialty artesian cocktails concocted with care unlike anywhere else in the city.
It's just 15 mins to Silverlake and Echo Park, AKA Hipsterville central, filled with boutique stores, organic restaurants, and some of the best undiscovered music in the country. It's also an easy 10 mins drive to the Sunset Strip, where you can throw back shots next to celebs and wannabes at the Chateau Marmont. It's about 10 mins to Downtown, packed with museums, historic architecture, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, some of the best art galleries in America, and a never-ending rotation of new gourmet restaurants. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive are 10 mins away if you're credit card can stand the trip... and if it can, well we are quite jealous! For those planning more of a day-trip, It's 30 mins to the beach, 90 mins to the desert, and 90 mins to the mountains. Yes, you can ski, hike, and swim all in one day. LA is the best! :)
So come and stay at The Rosewood - soak up the amazing history, be charmed by the cottage's character, and be dazzled by a touch of magic that hangs in the air...

Location is nice, accessible to all local attractions
Stay was decent
Host was very prompt.

We had a great stay, 12 nights in total. We did have a plumbing issue but the response was incredible - they took care of everything very quickly and professionally - it couldn't have gone better. I recommend the property and the property management people very highly and would rent from them again for certain!

We enjoyed our stay! The home is near by attractions such as Universal Studios and Hollywood. The neighbohood homes do have bars on the windows and we didn’t feel safe walking at night. The home is very cute and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable . I would stay again for sure.

Our family had a great time staying at this location. Extremely clean and comfortable beds/furniture. Host was communicative and responded quickly. We would definitely stay here again!

I was extremely happy with the accommodations here in Koreatown. The host thought of everything. Although the home was built in the 1920’s, it had modern amenities and lots of charm. The kitchen was well stocked for us to cook dinner, the appliances were a huge plus- especially the washer and dryer. The home was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I came here to spend time with my daughter and new grandson. I felt safe here and would like to stay here again when visiting in LA. Thanks to the host for a wonderful stay.

Had a great time in Los Angeles. Being in East Hollywood put us close enough to many attractions that were a cheap Uber away. But having a car, we had parking and were centrally located to other neighborhoods of interest. Walkable to many restaurants and markets for essentials. Laurie was a great host!

We had a wonderful stay at Laurie's perfectly maintained, beautiful, historic bungalow.
Although the L.A. weather was rainy during our entire stay, our cute little bungalow was a bright spot.
The kitchen featured all modern and updated everything. I could have cooked full dinners, but since we were visiting our daughter we went out to her favorite restaurants. The beds were comfy, the space was roomy, and the look was vintage L.A. One minor problem was that while there were lots of towels there were not many facial wash cloths. I texted Laurie about this in the evening, and by morning there was a package on the front steps with more brand new facial wash clothes than I could ever use. I plan to come back to L.A. and would definitely stay again. Thank you, Laurie!!!

I only used this home to sleep while visiting my daughter in LA so I can't comment on the kitchen, appliances, etc. It was charming, colorful, very clean, and perfectly located for my needs. The host's description of the property was very accurate.
Check-in was easy. Laurie was delightful to deal with - very responsive before my arrival. I didn't need to contact her during my week-long stay.

Just wow. So many other property owners over complicate stays. This property was exactly what we expected. We will most definitely stay here again when we visit LA next time. Thank you for making our stay so incredibly pleasant

My BFF and I stayed for six days & nights. Except for the mosquitoes that limited our time on the patio, we had a great time. The beds are comfortable, the neighborhood is exceptionally quiet, and the kitchen is well stocked. The location is perfect, we easily drove to the La Brea tarpits, the Academy museum, Angels Flight and Grand Central Market, Farmer's Market & Dupars, Olvera Street & Union Station.
There were some cleaning issues I addressed directly to the host and she responded immediately.

Beautiful and cozy place

The host of this property was communicative and made the check in process seemless. The house is a cute 1920's bungalow. They have taken time to a accentuate the charm of the home.
The parking is very tight but manageable and can fit two cars behind the gate, if you get them very close.
The neighborhood felt safe, which was a relief. The neigbors were very friendly.
The home came stocked with fun games and activities such as karaoke and a record player.
It also came stocked with all the dishes and cooking utensils that were needed.
We would rent again if we come back to the area.

We booked this house for our family. My son has quite a bit of medical issues. The first thing we look at in a property is NO PET. Unfortunately, my son is highly allergic to cat, dog etc. This house strongly smelt of cats and cat urine. My son had an asthma attack as soon as we walked in. We were only in the house for about two minutes. I contacted the owner and told her we are not staying in her property. We had to get another VRBO. (Who wants to go through this on vacation). She writes back she writes me back that she went to the property, and it did not smell, and I am not intitled to a refund. This is absurd. This was due to medical reason and the owner should have been honest about animals!! We did not stay there. This property is 100 perfect has/had cat/dogs. I am now having to deal with my credit card.

This house has a nice mix of old home charm and modern updates. It has a great layout and doesn't really feel as small as it is, we were never in each other's way. The furniture and beds are very comfortable - we all slept well. We appreciated having the private patio/garden and gated drive. Some folding luggage racks for the bedrooms and maybe a coat rack by the front door would really help.
The neighborhood is fine, a little noisy during the day but quiet at night. Centrally located to everything we wanted to do.
Laurie was a great host, she allowed us to check in early and gave us some great restaurant recommendations (Katsu-Ya sushi - we all loved it, even the kids!).

The Rosewood was the cozy-comfort that we needed for our trip to LA. Great communication with the host, parking easy. The neighborhood was quiet during our mid week stay and felt safe. it was centrally located for all of our needs. Dinner recommendations were spot on (especially Bacari-Silverlake) Beds and couch were comfortable and all amenities were contemporary.

My family loved our stay here! Not only was the neighborhood great -- very walkable, we walked to get coffee, lunch, and dinner throughout our stay -- but the house itself was perfect.
The host was immediately responsive when we had an inquiry upon check-in (trying to find something -- and don't worry, she helped us!) and went above and beyond by providing exception recommendations for the area, which led us to further exploration and fun experiences.
Another extra touch: the "welcome" book was such a great reference for the home itself and the neighborhood -- the best we've seen!
We would stay here again during future visits, and would also stay at other properties from the delightful host.

The representation of the property was accurate. We had four adults staying in the house for 3 nights. Parking was a great feature. and so was the back patio. The hosts were very hospitable and even left a bottle of wine for us. Cozy and decorated in a retro Hollywood theme.

This was a relatively easy property to get to. Within walking distance to a nice coffee place. Easy to get around via Uber. Would definitely come back again.

Laurie's place in EAHO (I call it that now! lol East Hollywood) is exactly as pictured, super cute and perfect for extended stay in LA. The house is old and charming - reminded me of houses I grew up in on the east coast. If you want to be close to "all the things" - this place is on point. Laurie's taste is nice and the kitchen is updated. My suggestions for an even better experience would be to offer some sort of luggage rack/bench and some place to unpack & put your clothes - it was difficult with everything having to be basically on the floor in open suitcases for 6 days. Also, if possible I might consider replacing the sofa - it is not comfortable to sit and relax on even though it looks very cool. And I noticed in the beautiful back patio area there were cute lights but no place to plug them in - or I just couldn't find where - would've been cuter & would have spent time out there in the evenings is all.
Finally, all of that to say, Laurie was a spectacular host, was available for any questions and the welcome book and gift was such a kind and wonderful surprise! Thank you for your hospitatality!! Can't wait to return!!!!

My family and I visited for the first time Los Angeles in July 2022. We rented this home with Laurie. She was so nice, and her home is beautiful, comfortable & close to everything. We really loved being there. We spent such wonderful time at this sweet home. I have to mention that the beds at this home were so comfortable and we all slept so well. I loved the gas stove and I cook some meals every morning. This home has a nice patio with succulents around the house. It was very nice to enjoy them.
If you need to rent a home in LA close to all the amenities don't hesitate and rent this sweet home. You will be happy.

Comfortable home in East Hollywood
We enjoyed our stay at the Rosewood- gives one the feel of entering the early days of Hollywood. The home was comfortable, quiet, easily accessible. It was a peaceful, spacious respite to relax with family between our local excursions. The bed was comfortable- and we appreciated the air conditioning in typically warm SoCal. Very nice to have the full kitchen and laundry available. We would be happy to return someday.

allergy issue/misleading neighborhood description
I am sharing a very blunt review because I rely on VRBO reviews to choose rentals and this is the one time I've been very disappointed and did not find an accurate review when I read through them before booking this house. While the house itself is quaint, none of the windows open, and someone with allergies may have issues for multiples reasons. Also, it is very close to many things in Hollywood, but it is not in a charming neighborhood. at all. When we first arrived we had a lot of cleaning to do, in order to stop our daughter's allergies as soon as she had been in the house for 15 minutes. And while the owners were extremely communicative, and offered to address any issues immediately, we didn't intend to have the cleaners return to do a bad job of cleaning again, when we had already found a moldy shower curtain and a musty bath mat left by the cleaners who would be returning, and a general mediocre cleaning job of the area rugs. I washed all of the towels and the bath mat, took out the shower curtain (the owners left a new one on the doorstep with a new bath mat as well) and moved all dusty fake flowers, unwashable throw pillows, etc out of all of the rooms into the front tv room to help with the dust issue. We couldn't open any windows (they are painted shut) and we were't about to turn on the air conditioning unit (often, those kick up some dust if they don't have a new filter or haven't been used for a few days/weeks, and we didn't want to take the chance that we would make the allergy issue even worse for our daughter) then we went to Target and purchased a $100 HEPA filter for our daughter's bedroom so she could sleep at night. I also (very carefully!!!!) rolled up the hallway rug because it was sort of clean/definitely vacuumed, but if I had steam cleaned it (and the other area rugs in the house) I can promise you the water would have been very dirty. Unfortunately, carpets carry a lot of hidden dust etc for people with allergies. So, we did our best, enjoyed the house as much as we could, tried to ignore the surrounding unattractive neighborhood, and chose to leave a night early and pay for a hotel room on our credit card. The owners were very communicative, and definitely wanted to help solve our issue, but they also chose to list this property with some misleading info. You should know in advance the windows are painted shut, it could use a deep clean, and this is not on a quaint block of houses where anyone ever filmed a show.
