An original log cabin inside, this property is on the bay in Grand Marais, Michigan. The Bay Cabin is a small 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin with a study. It has a beach in the backyard, as it is fronting onto the bay in Grand Marais. A few yards short of the beach is the firepit where you can relax and watch fireworks on July 4 or just enjoy the tranquility of the water. The Bay Cabin also has a large deck for relaxing or dining while taking advantage of the great views. Behind the property a few hundred feet is the Lake Superior shore front.
Inside the Bay Cabin you will find a fully equipped kitchen, soft and comfortable bed and bath linen and cable TV. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a 3 inch memory foam topper and a view of the bay. The second bedroom has a full size bed. The third bedroom has bunk beds and the study has a twin bed. You will also find a lovely granite gas fireplace to warm your toes in the living room when there is a chill in the air.
The Bay Cabin was originally built in 1936 as a traditional full log cabin. Sometime later it was sided on the outside for additional insulation, but the inside remains true whole logs. The floors are lovely local hardwood with soft rugs placed in strategic spots. A soft leather couch and rocking chairs with ottomans completes the log cabin decor.
Outside there is a large deck with reclining chairs and ottomans, and a dining table. Under the side porch we have placed a wood picnic bench for outside dining on a hot sunny summer day or for when it is raining. For relaxing, with a warm beverage or a cocktail, use the deck chairs or the Bay Cabin's Adirondack chairs down at the firepit and beach. There is also a charcoal grill available for your use.
The Bay Cabin's private beach area IS 122 feet at the water's edge and 118 feet at the bank starting from the pine trees on the east side of the property. This beach is perfect for swimming, paddling, boating from, or even for pulling your sea plane into. It is also a wonderful place to sit at the edge of the water and enjoy an evening cocktail or a morning coffee. If you would like a long beach walk, just head to the open beach on the north side of the Bay Cabin by the beach accesses at either end of the road.
The Bay Cabin is about 600 feet from the center of town, playground, markets, stores, galleries, restaurants and bars. Go the other way 500 feet and you'll be at the lighthouse. Less than two miles away by road is Sable Falls and Sable Dunes, a shorter distance away if you walk the beach. Sable Lake, the Log Slide and Pictured Rocks are a little further on by road.
Come stay at the Bay Cabin and enjoy the experience of having your own waterfront cabin for a while.

The place was clean except there was so many cobwebs everywhere both inside and outside, that I had to clean when I got there. This is the second time we have been there. The last time we had to purchase duct tape to repair screens. Fortunately this time I brought it with us and glad because we needed it. I literally got the **** scared out of me when I went in to use the bathroom and there was a bird flying in the house fifteen minutes after we arrived, it came in through one of the three holes in the bathroom screen. Another large rip in front screen in door( looks like someone put their hand through it)
We only had a number for the cleaning lady, so that is who we contacted when the cable went out. The “ property manager” came, couldn’t so anything, but would let us know. Never a follow up, and it did come back on three days later.
However, the outside, spectacular, the scenery is what it is all about.
In all seriousness, if this place was updated just a tiny bit, it would be perfect, IF property manager would fix screens etc…..

Loved being on the bay with a short walk to the lake. The cabin is close to the road so noise was an issue as there was construction sites at work.the cabin was well equipped and the deck was great. We would come again.

Beautiful location, thought of every amenity. Gas fireplace makes it so cozy! Very comfortable beds and bedding and
plenty of towels, which isn't always the case at rentals.

Great location on the point of Grand Marais! Comfy beds, very relaxing. Even saw a huge black bear on the point during our morning walk..
although there was no internet the coffee shop was a great place to hang out and get some work done. When we went to do laundry the campground was very accommodating and easy to use.
(Maybe a couple of ant traps inside would be Beneficial)

The mattresses could have been better and most of the lamps needed lightbulbs. In spite of that we loved the rustic cabin and had no problem making coffee and preparing great breakfasts in the morning. Wish the weather would have cooperated so we could have enjoyed a campfire.

Very nice and cozy. View across the bay was great. The only problem we had was the pilot light kept going out the gas fireplace. We told the property manager about it but did not get any response. We finally figured out how to relight it manually.

We loved our stay here! Yes, it's older and a bit rustic, but it is everything we needed. We usually camp when we're in Grand Marais, but because my daughter and her boyfriend were coming up from downstate, we figured we would try a VRBO. They loved it too. And a major perk that our Lab could come too!

The location is great. The cabin is as advertised. It's not wonderful but it's a roof over your head with a beach fire pit. Not too shabby. There was a dead animal odor the entire time in the house. Seems preventable but there's nothing anyone would be able to do to remediate it so again, whatever. The door lock wasn't working (also not their fault) so we were provided with a padlock for the screen door. This wasn't exactly secure but luckily there aren't roving gangs of thieves in Grand Marais. Overall, the property and our stay was great. The cabin just wasn't.

We had the best time of our lives. The beauty and peacefulness is breathtaking!!! Would recommend to anyone. Definitely need to do the rip tide boat tour of pictured rocks..worth every penny

This is a great location however this property is very run down! Duct tape holding together screens and doors. Paper towel shoved in the screens in the bathroom. The worst was the smell of the pee soaked mattress in the front bedroom and the rugs were smelly and filthy. We made the best of it and love Grand Marais and are coming back again but have already rented at a different property.

Magical spot in the UP
Perfect location for this sweet old cabin. We enjoyed our time so much, it is just a small little slice of heaven. This cabin isn't fancy, nor does it have all the modern-day luxuries but it has everything we needed for a relaxing get away. 10 out of 10, highly recommend!

Quaint cabin with great location
Overall a very enjoyable stay. Location of property and interaction with local agent five star. The only four-star category was we thought the property appeared bigger on the website than it actually was.

Very Welcoming
This was one of the easiest check-ins we have experienced. The place was very clean and had everything you would want in your stay. The only problem was the third bedroom's bed. If it would of been children sleeping on it there would not of been a problem at all. Mattress was a bit thin for an adult male. We would highly recommend this property to anyone, especially if you had children, the beach was fantastic

Great time
We had a great stay! We were in town for a wedding and booked the entire week. The place is small, but has everything you need. It was amazing being right on the beach- we had our jet skis in the water for a few days and the weather was beautiful.
Keep in mind, just like every other place, staff is at a shortage at the local restaurants and deserve everyone’s grace.

I was pleasantly surprised at how QUITE it is here! We loved our stay so much. Great little cabin and a nice little spot on the bay, with a short walk to the big beach. I was really pleased with how quiet the area was. I will be back for sure.

Bay Cabin, aka Heaven
The location of the property is only topped by the total cuteness overload of the interior. Small, but more than sufficient for 5 people.

Great house!!!
Extremely clean!! Perfect location! Havinga beach at your door is the best! Water was freezing but we jumped in. Rock hunted was huge to me. The tavern in town has amazing food!! We drove to Munising for the glass bottom shipwreck boat tour and the riptied, riptied was the best boat ride I've ever been on. The captain was s blast. Oswald bear ranch is beautiful too.

Cozy cabin
My husband and I vacationed here for our honeymoon in the fall and loved it so much we booked a summer trip as soon as we got home. Grand Marais is a quaint town with friendly people and great local restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, on this trip there were some people tent camping on the property next to the cabin making our space feel less private. It discouraged us from using the outdoor space as much as we had in the fall. We aren’t sure if this was a one time occurrence or a regular one, but if you are looking for a private and secluded space you may want to consider another spot. The cabin is absolutely lovely with all the amenities we needed for a week long vacation. We can’t wait to return to the Upper Peninsula!

There are no doors on the bedrooms. We managed because privacy was not a big issue for us.
Six adults worked because we were adult siblings. There is no room in the bedrooms for dressers. The bedroom doors are only barely covered by narrow curtains. Kitchen and living room is adequate and lovely. You can't beat the location.

Nice location. Very cute cabin. Nice beach.
