About this house rental
This is a beautiful spacious vacation home. It is not a condo, but a beautiful home that dates back to 1850. The bedrooms are large and offer a King bedroom, 1 Queen bedroom, 1 Double bed bedroom and a fourth bedroom with a single bed.
Original hardwood floors accent this house as well as the stone and brick walls. We list our price by the month but can consider rentals of less than one month. Contact me to see if it is possible for your preferred dates.
Although Historic in age, guests will have the amenities of home as well as cable tv, wi-fi and a washer and dryer. What is great about this location is that you are one block off from the main tourist area, which makes for a quiet neighborhood, but only minutes on foot to the hustle and bustle of all the fun things that Quebec City has to offer. Enjoy restaurants and shopping? No problem since a short 2 minute walk finds you in the heart of the Old Fortified City with choices in every direction.

Loved this charming home! Would definitely go back and will recommend to others. Great location in the heart of the city. Didn’t want to leave. Owner met us upon our arrival, made us feel very welcomed, and got us all set up for our amazing stay.

The location of the house is outstanding. Easy walk to all the main attractions in Quebec City. House is old but very charming. Hosts were wonderful. Will definitely stay here again.

LaMaison1850 suited our group of three generations very nicely. Quiet but convenient to shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Furnished with a charming mix of antiques and abstract artworks.

We wanted to have a Special Christmas trip and this year decided on Quebec City. Really enjoyed the City and the accommodations were as expected. Great location and the house was exactly as indicated.

This property is the perfect spot to stay while visiting Quebec. Close to restaurants, pubs, shopping and site seeing. The house has so much charm and creates a relaxed atmosphere. Carol was helpful with answering any questions we would have. Counting down the days for our next visit to La Maison 1850.

Six friends traveling together; we loved the house and coziness of it all -- and enough bathrooms for six women. Beds comfortable and plenty of linens and towels. Carole couldn't have been more welcoming -- staying around to greet us even though our train from Montreal was delayed by nearly two hours. thanks, Carole!

An amazing experience for these Alberta girls! It felt like we were in another country once we got on the streets of our neighbourhood…narrow roads and tall turn of the century homes…every wooden door was built and painted differently, the stone and brick buildings felt European! Our home away from home was filled with so much character! Beautiful staircase, lights, claw foot tubs and antique furniture as well as modern touches throughout. Beds were all very comfortable and easily enough room for the seven of us. The hosts met us at the home and were available if we needed anything. Would definitely love to stay in this house again if we return to visit as it’s literally within walking distance to everything in Old Quebec. 10/10!!

The home is in an ideal location in Old Quebec. Close to everything and very well stocked.
Our only conceen is the stairs are steep (we knew it had stairs) and our old tired legs hard to work hard after a long day. But that was a minor inconvenience and easily outwieghed by how wonderful the house is.
Ed and Carol were great to work with and responded promptly to our questions.

This beautiful period home was perfect for six adults! Well appointed kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, roomy sitting areas, and great laundry room.
The home is situated on a quiet street and within a very short walking distance to a myriad of fabulous restaurants, shops, as well as historical landmarks.
Hosts Carol and Ed provided wonderful touches like extra towels, umbrellas, pantry staples, and restaurant recommendations which were all excellent!
We have stayed at a few rentals but what made this one special was the warm welcome and tour of the home by the hosts.
Great stay !!!!

The house was everything we had hoped for. Very charming and plenty of room for three couples. Great kitchen to hang out in. We could walk everywhere from the location and had everything we needed within just a few blocks-restaurants, small market, car rental, coffee shops etc Liquor store a short walk further. If stairs are not a problem, we highly recommend this French charmer.

Four days in Quebec City just minutes by foot from every site to be seen and every restaurant and shop one could wish for!
The home was exceptional. Exactly as described in the listing on a quiet side street just steps from Montmorency Park and the Ramparts.
The house has everything - comfy beds, modern conveniences, and everything we needed for our group of 5 adults.
We walked 10-15 miles a day and ate our way through the city. Fortunately walking helped a bit with the extra calories!
We will be back this is by far the best place we’ve stayed in Quebec City!

This property was ideal for our group of 6 women for our 3 nights’ stay. The location is superb, offering easy and quick walking access to all sights, restaurants, shopping and activities one might want to take in, during a 3 day stay in Old Quebec. The property is located on a quiet street, a few minutes walk to bustling Rue St Jean where there are many restaurants to choose from. Communication with the owner, Carol, was excellent and prompt, and her reception of us on arrival was kind, helpful and informative. The owner made accommodation for us to leave our luggage at the property after checkout for later retrieval before our late afternoon flight. The property itself is spacious, spread out over 3 floors plus a lower level, beds are comfortable and the premises had everything we needed for our stay. The house has a “lived in” feel , and some of the quirks you might expect with a property of its age, but what it lacks in modernity and luxury are made up for by the attention of the owner to her guests and the location- which would be hard to beat. We felt the property offered good value for the cost of our stay.

Family of 7 adults enjoyed our stay very much. Nightlife, shops a half block from the rental. No noise at night or early morning from the street. Extremely quiet street. Listing as described. We were very comfortable, plenty of room and extra chairs to sit around the kitchen table playing card games at night. Best mattress I have slept on at any rental. We were all very comfortable. My mother is 84, as there are several flights of stairs for those who are older may have difficulty. She did okay but it was a bit to much for her. Cannot beat the location. We were out all day and every night enjoying the hustle and bustle of the bar/restaurants/shops. We felt very safe as there was a busy nightlife. Irish pub down the street had live music day and night. Our entire group had the best burgers and food at 3 garçons out of all the restaurants we went to, they were top notch and excellent beer. I believe it was the Smith bakery we went every morning for breakfast. Amazing. Across the street another restaurant serving crepes was busy with lines, but if you arrived early as we did , we enjoyed delicious crepes stuffed full of goodies. The ile de orleans for cheese, pate and baguettes was well worth the trip. Many shops for jams, goat, cow cheese. Carol, the host, was extremely friendly. We checked in 2 hours early and she met us on time, showed us the parking and went over information regarding the house and answered our questions. Honestly, a fabulous trip in a beautiful city!

A perfectly charming house in a fabulous location in Old Quebec. The communication with Carol was great, and we really enjoyed our stay. The house had lots of room for our family. We would definitely stay again!

My family stayed at this house last week and had an amazing time! There was some road closures but the owner met us and took us directly to the parking area without any trouble! The house was big enough to accommodate everyone and felt even more spacious than it was (there are 3 floors and a basement so you do need to be able to walk up and down stairs without any issue). It was right in the middle of Old Quebec City and we didn’t even get back into our car for most of the trip…there was plenty to do near by. The owners are very easy to communicate with and didn’t require us to clean up the place completely prior to leaving (which we have had to do before). There was a full kitchen and washer/dryer which was convenient for the week stay. The second floor “master suite” was perfect! I really don’t have any complaints at all. We are hoping to stay at the same place next year for 2 weeks!

We were two couples (in our 60’s) vacationing five days and four nights in Old Quebec City. Our first time vacationing in this incredible, historical, and beautiful City.
Our host Carol was always responsive prior to our arrival, answering questions on a couple of occasions, while offering suggestions to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We’re experienced VRBO vacationers, having rented properties in six States in the US, and (now) two countries. It’s always nice to rent from an experienced, knowledgeable, and professional owner of VRBO properties, as was the case with Carol.
Carol’s home couldn’t be in a better location, being no more than a 5-10 minute walk to the Hotel Frontenac (highly recommend a tour), the St. Lawrence River, and every restaurant or attraction in the Walled City. We parked our van around the corner from the house and never needed it until we packed to leave (@ $10/day, a bargain and a luxury).
The house has been wonderfully updated while keeping all of the charm denoting its 19th century beginnings. Four air conditioned floors (was extra nice, given our hiking up and down the streets of Old Quebec when it was unseasonably warm), the bedrooms were comfortable, everything worked, and we felt “quite at home” our entire stay. The small courtyard outside the lower level was a pleasant area to share a bottle of wine and to relax outside in the evening.

The 1850 House is a beautiful old three story house with large rooms, modern conveniences and a central location that would be hard to improve upon. Within a short walk from the house’s quiet location, are a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and boulangerie (bakery). Be sure to walk to breakfast at Paillard. Check in and check out were seamless. I can’t recommend this property highly enough.

This restored historical home is the perfect location for visiting Quebec City. Everything is in walking distance—restaurants, shopping, and historical sites. We only used our car to visit Ile d’ Orleans which was fantastic. We will definitely rent again if we return.

LaMaison 1850 was in a great location. Place is perfect for gathering in living room or as we did in the evening after dinner - gathered around kitchen table.
Three couples stayed and only disappointment was third bathroom was in basement and did not have mirror and shower did not have curtain so really not that usable. Two couples shared the large bathroom on 2nd floor which was a bit inconvenient.
Also, please know there are several games for children and adults and books to read.

Quebec City is a beautiful place - we will be back and we we don’t want to stay anywhere but here. It felt like home away from home. Tons of space and perfect location. Hosts are super friendly and laid back. 5 star experience - thank you and hope to return soon.

Location, location, location!!! It was perfect for our group of 4 women. Right in the middle of all of the action! Carol was a great host. The rooms were as described and the beds were extremely comfortable - especially after a full day of walking! Would recommend 100%

House is spacious, clean, fully equipped with 4 large bedrooms and three baths. Host is very responsive. Caveat to those with mobility issues…bedrooms are on 2nd and 3rd floors so be prepared to climb!
Convenient parking a block away. Great location. We walked to everything and only drove to Montmorency Falls and the Aquarium.
Highly recommend this charming 1850 abode.

This lovely house is even better than the listing shows. It has everything —charm, location, and comfort. I expected a drafty house, but it was so warm and snug. Instead of a busy city feel, it is tucked away and quiet. And it really is a 5-minute walk to shops, restaurants, Chateau Frontenac, Notre Dame Cathedral, and other historic sites. It was the perfect place for our mother-daughter trip and we would absolutely stay here again.

For our annual winter getaway, we decided on Quebec. We came across Carol and Ed’s house and knew it was the right decision (we booked it a year in advance).
The pictures are accurate and for a home built in 1850 it is well maintained and offered everything for our stay. One of the real highlights of this property is its location. Situated in a quiet and picturesque neighborhood, you'll feel like you're a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. But in reality, you're just minutes away from all the best shopping, dining, and entertainment that the area has to offer.
We came to enjoy Old Quebec and get some mountain activities in which was conveniently located an hour away from the Le Massif de Charlevoix which offered great skiing, snowboarding, and sledding fun. It’s also a 25 min drive away to the Hotel de Glace (Ice Hotel) which was fun to check out.
We would definitely stay here again.

Our family of seven (2 under age 4) had a lovely time. The property is a mid-1800's townhome in the heart of Old Quebec with all the charm of the neighborhood. Everything is within a few blocks; the location could not be better. The house is warm and cozy, with plenty of character and room to spread out, The kids enjoyed exploring the multiple levels, and everyone felt right at home. The photos are accurate, except the front entrance, not photographed, is a stoop on a narrow one-way street. There is a rear deck at the lowest level, which was snow-covered, which we did not use. There are ample amenities with Washer, Dryer, complete kitchen, and upgraded baths. Comfortable beds and quality linens. Carol's daughter checked us in and provided assistance with getting us unloaded and getting the car parked a block away. We did not use the car once during our visit. The hosts are super pleasant and helpful. Do not hesitate; we will book again next time in Quebec City.

We had a wonderful quick getaway to Quebec to enjoy the German Christmas markets and the old town. The house is so convenient with all the markets and the sites of the old city within short walks. The house itself is cozy, comfortable and well-equipped. Highly recommend!

The photos and description are accurate—you couldn’t find a better spot in the Old City. Although the house is historic, you will be shocked by the plentiful hot water and shower pressure! Owners accommodating and communicative.
