The terrace level features a pool table, wet bar, second refrigerator, and a seven person hot tub just outside on the deck.

We live near by and can provide assistance as needed.
The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and we expect all guests to respect reasonable noise standards. Special note: since this cabin is directly facing the river with large decks on two levels it is CRITICAL for all guests to understand and comply with noise standards. If neighbors across the river or at the cabin next door can hear you, your music, crying children, barking dogs, etc. it is too loud. We are very serious about enforcing this.
The roads are suitable for most any vehicle and is also motorcycle friendly.
The property is secluded but less than four miles from downtown Blue Ridge. The roads are easily navigated.
FIREWOOD. 17 acres of downed and dead wood is provided. Feel free to bring your axe and saw and use caution. We can also provide the split and stacked kind for a fee. Here are a few options:
1. Small stack of 20 pieces. You pick up: $15. We maintain a centrally located spot on the property with stacks of firewood for easy access. We generally operate on the honor system, but we do monitor the area with cameras. Just let us know how many stacks you'd like and we can direct you from there.
2. Medium stack of 30 pieces. We deliver and set up with Firestarter, marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate for 14 guests: $60. Let us know when you'd like the fire laid, and provide a minimum of 24 hours notice.
3. Large group fire options. We are wood fire connoisseurs who have had a wood stove fire nearly every night during Winter for the past 40 years. We can provide whatever you want, just ask.

This was the perfect getaway! I almost hate to comment, because more visitors may mean it may not be available next time we want it! ;) The drive was easy...located only a few minutes from the highway, the roads were easily accessible, comfortable to drive/ride and the driveway was easy to navigate; mostly paved, flat area for parking. The cabin itself was very clean. Well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms. The layout was perfect for multiple families with mulitiple age groups. Large screen porch! Two dishwashers! Multiple porches allow the scenery to be enjoyed from every angle! The adventurous visitors can take the path down to the water. However, the 3 minute drive gets you to the parking area for the river so easily. The riverfront area is perfect for children, fishermen and families! Can't say enough good things about this cabin

From check in to check out we had a great experience. The house was comfortable for eight adults and six teens to eat, watch the football game, and hang out on the main level deck with a large dining table (sits 10). There’s also a large dining room table and chairs on the main level, next to the kitchen. Ten family members went on the Blue Ridge train ride, then came back to the cabin to celebrate a 21st birthday. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and prepare the dinner. The kids played pool and watched the football game downstairs, while the rest gathered on the main level to watch the football game. Ten people had to get back to Atlanta, so only four of us stayed at the cabin overnight, so needless to say we had plenty of room.
The cabin was close to the Long Branch hiking trail, and we also went to Mercier Orchard. Both very close to the cabin, and also close to the town of Blue Ridge.
We had a great stay, and hope to come back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grey Heron House and found it more spacious and beautiful than the listing portrayed. It was the perfect place to begin a new family tradition following the loss of my grandmother. The college kiddos had plenty to do with the hot tub, disc golf, trails, games, and pool table. Thank you for a perfect holiday get away!

Our stay at The Grey Heron House was perfect for our small group retreat. We enjoyed the beautiful cabin! It was clean, spacious, and the kitchen was well stocked and organized with what you would need to cook for a group. The pool table was a huge hit with the kids. They also really enjoyed the pool & hot tub.

We had a great time! The cabin was perfect for us. It is roomier than it appears and very comfortable. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the screened deck talking and enjoying the view and chorus of the woods. It was also conveniently located to hiking, kayaking at the lake, shopping, dining out and visiting wineries, breweries and cideries!

The property was in an amazing location and as advertised! Even when the power went out the first evening there, the Owner came and started a generator for us! Plenty of activities and a beautiful setting! Recommend this property to anyone!

The house was perfect and provided us with everything we needed. There was plenty of room to accommodate our family of 3 children, spouses and grandchildren! We enjoyed the pool and surrounding area. Greg was a wonderful host and very responsive to our needs. We experienced a power outage due to a storm while there and he responded immediately with a generator to restore our electricity and water until the power company was able to get the power on. Hope to return in the future.

We had our first Blue Ridge family vacation here (5 adults, 1 toddler, 2 dogs). The cabin was great and had ample space for us to all hang out without feeling cramped. We made sure to utilize all the great amenities not only in the home, but also out in the community—the little playground, disc golf course, community pool, and walking trail down to the river. Overall we made some wholesome memories here and we enjoyed our stay!

Our 1st annual Xmas gathering at Grey Heron was awesome.
First off, the location is perfect ! Only 5 mins to Blue Ridge yet still secluded.
The home was so roomy and perfect for us, our kids and grandkids comfort. Greg is a great host and very responsive to any questions or needs. Kitchen stocked well, furnishings comfortable, very clean and well maintained.
Only 3 minor additions that would have made the stay totally perfect:
Small fenced-in area around the basement/hot tub level for the pups.
Some lighting over the grill for night cooking.
A pool light over the pool table.
We will definitely be back for our 2nd annual next year !!

This house was terrific. The views were spectacular! The fully stocked kitchen is big enough for 5 adults not getting in each other's way.

I had trouble with the booking process but nothing caused by the owner. Once that was settled, things moved smoothly. The owner was easily available whenever we had questions. We met with him and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Grey Heron house was a perfect mountain getaway with stunning views and an easy drive into town. Hopefully we can plan another trip in the future!

We stayed at the Grey Heron house with a group of 7 adults and had an absolute blast! The house itself was beautiful, very clean, and could comfortably fit everyone. Greg was responsive to any communications and was very helpful. Our group would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to stay in the Blue Ridge area.

Wonderful family trip
This is an amazing property and works so well for families. It was wonderful to be able to hike down a small hiking trail and fish and just explore the property. The house was clean, the beds were so comfortable and the sheets were High quality. . We were able to get a hold of the property manager anytime we needed and we did not want for anything. It was a lovely house, we will be back again!

Post Christmas fun
We enjoyed our stay again this year. Several interior updates had been made since our last visit. Nicely done.

Nice Cabin
Overall the trip was awesome. Gorgeous views but because it’s in the valley noise travels far so it’s hard to hangout on the back porches after 10. I did have an issue contacting Greg through VRBO. I sent him 2 different messages and I didn’t hear back from him after 2 days, so I called him and he answered right away.

Vacay
It’s wasn’t clean the dishes in the cabinets had food in it, there was pet hair and people hair everywhere. The beds weren’t comfortable and the basement slept 6 ppl but the smell from the septic tank was disgusting. You couldn’t shower in the basement, we had to clean everything before we used it. It was spiders and small roaches everywhere. Cigarette ashes on the decks and no one smoked. The cabin was a nice but cabin management needs to make sure its clean.

Clean, quiet and comfortable. Lots of room to be as together or as separate as we wanted. Really appreciated Greg Spencer(owner) welcoming tour of the house.

Very nice house and well stocked. Great location and really nice pool area.

Neighbors
The cabin was clean and spacious. The amenities were nice. However we experienced an issue with one of the neighbors. One night we were in the jacuzzi and our music was at a louder volume at 10:38pm. One of the neighbors walked on the property without announcing himself and spoke to us disrespectfully as he asked us to turn the music down. He was loud, unapologetic, and used profanity. The interaction changed the vibe of the trip that night. We didn’t mind cutting down the music but his attitude was entitled and rude.

Wonderful Winter Retreat — PEACEFUL
Lovely property with well-appointed kitchen. So much to do outdoors in the neighborhood — near to local attractions as well. Property Manager was very responsive when we called for assistance with a minor issue. Our family (all ages) gathers each year after Christmas and cannot wait to return to the Grey Heron House!
