MORE INFORMATION
The space:
Our spacious 1000 square foot guest apartment is located on the ground floor of our home, below the large main house and down an outside flight of 15 steps from the parking area and deck. It has its own completely separate entrance. Robin and Jack live on the two upper floors with their friendly standard poodle “Zelda” and playful Labradoodle “Hank”. The apartment offers our guests very private, spacious and well furnished living quarters. There’s a large covered patio that’s outfitted with both dining and coffee tables, several comfortable seating options and a 3 burner gas grill for our guests exclusive use. The apartment itself reproduces the feeling of a luxury hotel suite. It includes a generously sized living room, with a full kitchen and dinning area along one wall and a romantic and efficient gas fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need for gourmet cooking and a great dinning experience. There’s an extra large bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed that’s fitted with luxury linens and high quality pillows. There’s lots of closet and bureau space and plenty of hangers. The large full bath has a two sink vanity, an in tub shower and features thick cotton towels, high end soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair dryer and other amenities. The apartment has high ceilings throughout and extra tall windows let in the light and provide great mountain views. All of the kitchen appliances are full sized and new. We provide both Keurig and drip coffee makers, K-cups, tea, sweeteners, chilled still and sparkling bottled water, a bottle of white wine, local craft beer, cookies and initial breakfast pastries. In addition to the guest apartment’s own patio, there is a separate area of our upper deck exclusively for our guests use. It has two very comfortable chairs, a low table and, in the summer, a large adjustable sun umbrella. It's another perfect place to savor your morning coffee while enjoying our amazing mountain views or to just sit and read. Additional amenities include a commercial grade Wi-Fi connection and premium cable TV with HBO and Showtime, and the Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming services. All display on a 50” flat screen smart TV. The TV is on a mount that pulls away from the wall and swivels 90 degrees in both directions.
We are surrounded by woods on all sides and are frequently visited by deer, wild turkeys, and other wild life. Many birds fill our surrounding trees. Tall mature trees tower over our home, giving the visual perspective of being in a remote tree house with superb mountain views.
Guest access:
We provide a lockbox with keys for our guests but are almost always on site to great and brief them personally. PLEASE NOTE: our home is about 100 feet above street level and our driveway is very steep and narrow, with two sharp turns. The average grade of our driveway is 24 to 26 degrees but two short sections are 30+ degrees. At the top of our driveway, there is a very large parking and turn around area with a great view. Limit, two cars per reservation. Our spacious guest apartment is down an outside flight of stairs (15 steps), from the upper deck and parking level. Because we have two wonderful dogs of our own, we cannot accept reservations with pets. Our guests should feel free to walk anywhere on our steep property or to explore the adjacent wooded areas.
Interaction with guests:
We are very respectful of your privacy but are available to answer your questions, offer advice or to help in any way. Jack and Robin are semiretired and we are hikers, bicyclists, skiers and both racing and cruising sailors. Before moving to Asheville we lived in Aspen, Colorado; Stowe, Vermont; San Francisco; New York City; Camden, Maine; Cambridge, Massachusetts; the South of France and Wilmington, North Carolina.
Other things to note:
The street below our home has children, joggers, dog walkers and lots of wildlife transiting it. Please drive slowly, thanks. Our dogs Zelda and Hank are very friendly and quiet. They both enjoy attention from our guests, but won’t pester you.

Jack and Robin thought of everything to make us feel welcome and at home. From the moment I booked the rental, Jack reached out and provided valuable information about the rental and the area. The accommodations were spacious, clean and as described. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Asheville. We would book again.

From the moment we arrived at Treetop Hideaway we knew this was going to be a great place to stay for our week vacation. Jack and Robin thought of everything! Wonderful hosts!
Such a relaxing and peaceful spot tucked in the mountains. We had a beautiful patio to sit outside, well stocked kitchen, with wine, beer, coffee and even some delicious cookies! Beautiful, spacious bathroom and a very comfortable king size bed, with a large closet and a dresser with lots of drawers. We could really unpack and feel like home. To top it off…. We were within 15-20 minutes of everything… Biltmore, downtown Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Grove Park Inn and The River Arts District. Don’t hesitate to stay at this wonderful hideaway. You won’t be disappointed!
Thank you Jack, and Robin!

Well maintained property that is roomy for two. Close enough to all Asheville area attractions. Property owners easily accessible. Enjoyed the weather as it was cooler then ours in the Charlotte area which was are key reason for heading here. Good communication from owners about dining in the area.

Exceptional property and awesome hosts. The property has a very woodsy and private feel but just minutes to grocery stores, area restaurants etc. Throughly enjoyed our stay.

The hosts, Jack and Robbin are incredible: Their knowledge of the area and just about anything else was amazing. The driveway to the property was extremely steep and downright scary. Maybe I am just old, but my wife wouldn't even try to drive it. The apartment was modern and very well equipped and supplied, but was also cold and damp due to the lack of direct sunlight. Jack did get an electric space heater which helped solve the problem. Our time there was unusually rainy.

Nice place. Clean, very comfortable bed, host was helpful and provided nice extras like cookies and bottled water. Steep driveway but easy to manage. Would definitely stay here again.

From the moment we booked the place, my wife and I felt that we are in the good hands. Jack, the owner, connected with us and provided all necessary details about the place, how to get there, and what to do while in Asheville. The house is immaculate, has everything for the stay, beautiful views, and, best of all, the fantastic hosts, Robin and Jack. Throughout our time there, we felt like in a paradise.
Big thanks! Hope to stay there again soon

The property was perfectly described and the hosts were extremely hospitable. We were greeted and shown all amenities. There are a number of streaming apps, a cozy fireplace, extremely comfortable bed and linens! The hosts thought of every convenience - wine, beer, sparkling and bottled waters, coffee pods/Keurig, travel toothbrushes, razors, shampoo/conditioner, soaps. No need to bring paper products - paper towels, toilet tissue, Kleenex, even charging cords, umbrellas and recycling offered. We enjoyed our stay and restaurant recommendations. We will definitely book again. Jack and Robin were the best hosts we have encountered!

This had to be one of our favorite short getaways. We had two full days at The Biltmore Estate and grounds, as well as a visit to Omni Grove Park Inn. Our stay at Jack and Robin’s home was a pure delight. It was so nice to come back to this very cozy and well accommodated lower level home at the end of our days. We actually looked forward to it! The description of this beautiful home is spot on…..meticulously clean, very comfortable, well appointed, every detail thought of. Jack and Robin thought of everything. We would highly recommend this find to anyone and we are already telling our friends it’s a must do trip, and to stay here! Hoping to return here one day. Thank you Jack for also spending the time with us to share your stories, very interesting.

My mom and I had such a nice stay. The space was perfect for us and we loved using the fireplace at night. I wish we could’ve stayed longer so that we could’ve taken more advantage of the patio and the view of the mountains. The proximity to Asheville was perfect and we found some great restaurants super close by. Jack greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the space and was super responsive to texts. I also appreciated all of his restaurant and hiking recommendations. Thank you for a great stay!!

The wooded hillside location with its mountain view is serene; the property and its amenities exactly as advertised. It's an ideal base from which to enjoy the greater Ashville area. Jack and Robin are delightful. They expertly fulfill their roles as onsite hosts, ready to assist if needed, while respecting the privacy of their guests. We were there a full week and enjoyed visiting with and get to know them a bit which added to the pleasure of our stay.

We stayed for 4 nights in September & found the property easy to locate & very accessible to getting anywhere around Asheville. It’s also close to downtown.
The apartment is definitely private with everything just as in the photos. Plenty of extra blankets, Pillows, decent kitchen, keurig & lovely patio overlooking the woods and distant mountains.
Jack & Robin are gracious hosts & we were happy to get to know them. And, proceeds from this rental go directly to helping fund research for autism, which has touched their family profoundly.
Thank you again Jack & Robin! We hope to see you again!

My husband and I planned a very last minute trip to Asheville and chose Jack and Robin's place based on the views and proximity to downtown. Jack was very communicative and answered all our questions quickly. The unit was extremely clean, well decorated, and even came stocked with some goodies and toiletries. We only wish we had more time to chat with them as they were very warm and interesting people. Definitely recommend!

Jack and Robin (the hosts) have thought of everything in their VRBO... from seltzer waters to toothbrushes, they even left us a nice bottle of wine!
The driveway was a little intimidating upon the first approach, but by day 2 we were pros at it. And, it's worth every climb to see that beautiful view. We were fortunate enough to see a bear crossing the road right before the driveway.
We would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The place was very clean and had a lot of little extras (cookies, bottle of wine, sparkling water and coffee for example) The bed was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio to drink our coffee and just enjoy the beautiful nature around us in the mornings and evenings. The location was perfect and just a short drive away from downtown Asheville. Jack was a wonderful host and gave so many appreciated recommendations for restaurants and hikes. We would definitely recommend to stay at this location!

If I could leave 10 stars, I would!!! Our stay was absolutely fabulous, Jack and Robin thought of it all! This was the first trip my husband and I have taken without our small children and it was the perfect place to relax and recharge.
The place itself was immaculately clean and adorably decorated. The bed was very comfortable and linens were soft as well as the bath towels! We really enjoyed the ambiance of the fireplace from the comfy couch. Sitting out on the patio sipping coffee while admiring the view, might have been my favorite part though! It was beautiful!
We did not do much as far as cooking, but the kitchen was well stocked for anything you’d like to make. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches such as the wine, beer, water, coffee, creamer, and cookies!
We also really enjoyed talking to Jack and Robin. They were so warm and welcoming, the best hosts we’ve ever had! Can’t wait to come back! Thank you!!!

The place was so clean and wonderfully furnished. Many amenities … Jack and Robin were very helpful and friendly. The view was nice on the front balcony. I had a black mama bear come by one morning with her cub. That was a nice surprise.
Very convenient to most things … AVL, Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore, etc.
Very quiet and romantic getaway. Highly recommend.

My spouse and I had a wonderful 4 night getaway, and this property played a big role in making that the case. Ideally located just 10 minutes North of Asheville in a very wooded and quiet location with a great view. The accommodations were excellent. Everything was very clean, comfortable bed, quality furniture, well stock, and quiet. We really enjoyed the gas fireplace in the evenings. Jack, the owner made check in go very smoothly, and he is extremely knowledgeable with the area and gave great suggestions for hiking trails and restaurants. The refrigerator was nicely stocked with a variety of beverages and the bathroom had extra items if we forgot anything from home. We were able to come and go easily from this spot, and never saw the owners, but they were available and responsive via text if we had any questions. Everything was as advertised and exactly what we needed for a wonderful getaway. I would highly recommend this location for a couple, and we would stay here again if/when we do it over. Asheville and the surrounding area is a beautiful and fun place to visit and vacation. We highly recommend all of it.

A wonderful place to stay. Robin and Jack were great hosts and took care of anything that needed to be taken care of. The bedroom, the living area, etc. were all very comfortable and the large deck area was a good place to hang out when the weather cooperated. Surrounded by trees, some vistas of mountains, and sweet birdsong.

This is a truly wonderful property, close enough to the town of Asheville that one can enjoy the shops, galleries, and eateries yet situated beautifully among one of the country’s loveliest outdoor areas. The hosts were simply delightful to work with, offering clear directions to the site as well as suggestions for hikes, restaurants, and shopping/sightseeing. They bent over backwards to accommodate my particular needs, and I will look forward eagerly to future stays. It is easy to see why travelers rate this property so highly!

I had a lovely stay at this property. Very clean, easy to check into, and great location. It's just outside of Asheville, which was perfect. The view from the property was gorgeous. Little touches were very thoughtful such as wine, a few local beers, cookies, and muffins. The owners were great with communication and answering any questions I had. Highly recommend!

Jack and Robin's place is a treasure. We stayed for nine days, and always enjoyed coming back to the peace and beauty of this spot. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Jack and Robin are lovely people and generous hosts. We appreciated all the information Jack provided about hiking trails and restaurants, and enjoyed our conversations with him and Robin.

Our host was very helpful and made great recommendations for restaurants & things to do in the area. There was a minor issue with the water heater in the middle of the night but our host was available even at 3am & took care of the issue right away. He even refunded us for our stay for the inconvenience! Totally unexpected but greatly appreciated. The guest home was in perfect condition and very comfortable. The location was beautiful in the fall- very quiet & surrounded by woods and foliage.
