REVIEW: 'Tons of Fun!'
'We loved this beach house! We had a fantastic time at 'BLACKBEARD'S TREASURE, COROLLA!' and highly recommend it because it had everything we wanted and in a great location. There was plenty of room for our extended family of 22. The house was clean and very appealing. There are 3 refrigerators with one downstairs near the pool and grill. The rec room became a gathering place for us because it overlooks the pool and hot tub and has a nice pool table and bar. The pool and hot tub were large and clean and we used them constantly. The kitchen is large with enough seating for everyone. It had everything we needed plus some. The 7 baths were important for us and gave us the privacy we wanted. Plenty of tv's for everyone and there's also music to the decks with a docking station. We were able to watch an evening concert in the park from the decks of the house and had a great view of the lighthouse. There are bikes to use on the paths along the water and we had fun biking together. Make sure to check out the museum aquarium in the park , it's free, and climb the lighthouse if you dare. But, the wild horse tour was one of the highlights of our vacation. The park had a kite flying contest for the kids and an arts and craft show during the week. Wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this beach house!'

A great time with friends and family. Sherrie was friendly and very easy to communicate with. We had a wonderful time!

The inside of the property was very clean and nice. It was the perfect size for our family of 14. We all enjoyed having our own rooms and bathrooms. We all loved the pool and hot tub as well and they were very clean and as advertised. Realizing TS Debbie had just passed through before we got there made the pool area and cushions on the outdoor furniture sopping wet, dirty and moldy. We could not use them. Also there were no wash cloths in the laundry room as they were to be included with the linens and we had brought none of our own. There were no stores close by to buy any. When I contacted the host she assured me someone would be bringing them. We arrived on Saturday and they did not appear until Monday.
We loved that there were 3 refrigerators, several coffee makers and toasters though. That was great!
The washer and dryer were a plus as well. It would have been nice to have a retractable clothes line or folding laundry racks for wet beach towels and bathing suits.
Our family enjoyed our stay very much. The golf cart was an excellent way to get our tents, food, drinks up to the stairs of the beach and back home again but it quit charging for the last two days of our stay. It could not be fixed before we had to leave. It would be greatly helpful if there was a designated parking space at the entrance of the beach for golf carts in the community. The bikes were not in good working condition and the decking on all 3 levels of the house was in need of repair and attention.

Our family of 22 had a great time at Blackbeard's Treasure. The pool and hot tub were in regular use. The ease of getting to the beach as well as to the park on the other side of the highway was a real plus. Sherry was great to work with. Very responsive. Just a few issues that keep it from being a 5 across the board: the outside areas including the decks had not been cleaned when we arrived (they were subsequently....the interior was spotless); bath towels were available but not hand towels (they were provided subsequently); and the configuration of the 2 second floor bedrooms was not exactly as advertised so we had to make some adjustments from our original plans. But, these were really minor to an overall great experience.
2.0 / 5.0
The bedroom layout and bed type worked almost perfectly for our family; the separation of rooms provided quiet space; the location to the beach was good. However, problems with how the property is maintained are numerous: HVAC fan filters (all) and most ceiling fan blades "caked" with dust; poolside seat cushions mildewed; kitchen pots dirty and cutting board moldy; kitchen countertop formica surface and nearly all cabinet trim separating (in most cases, secured with tape); one stovetop burner inop; deck picnic table seat broken and surface mildewed; screen door from master to deck falling off track; front doorknob difficult to operate; some bicycles too rusty to operate safely...and the worst: roaches (big ones) spotted on at least 4 occasions during our stay; plus, wifi router required resetting numerous times per day; at least one smoke detector missing; and numerous other trim pieces broken, missing or malfunctioning (toilet paper holder, recessed light flickering; sink stopper disconnected, etc.)

The house was large enough for our group. The pool and hot tub were popular and we hit the beach every evening in the cooler air. The club car was very convenient.

This family vacation was one of our favorites! There were 22 of us there ranging in age from 5 months to 60 years and there was something for everyone. The house was the perfect size and Sherrie was a great host. When we arrived the 2nd floor air conditioner was not functioning correctly and I immediately contacted Sherrie. She tried everything she could on her end to fix the problem and had a technician there within just a couple of hours. The unit was fixed and we never had another issue with it. All of us enjoyed some pool time, the cornhole sets, the bicycles and many of the other amenities that came with the house. The beach was just a short walk down the road, and the golf cart made transporting beach items and people so easy. I would highly recommend this property and Sherrie. Even before we arrived, Sherrie had been communicating with us and giving us food and entertainment suggestions. We definitely hope to stay here again.

Out of our stays through vrbo she was the best. She rocked in communication. She always got right back to us. She is very detailed and loved that she sent us things to do and try throughout our vacation. The house was super clean and the kitchen had everything you could think of. Her house is fully stocked. She has a ton of board games for kids and alot of outside games as well. The pool and jacuzzi was amazing as well. Hands down this is a great place to rent highly recommend.

A great time was had by all 11 of us! Enough bedrooms and baths for everyone! The kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the dishes, cooking appliances, knives, serving spoons, etc and silverware for more than our group needed. The golf cart provided was a definite plus and was definitely utilized..as well as the hot tub.. which was kept hot. Too chilly to use the kayaks but we will keep that in mind for a summer gathering. Sherrie, the owner was charming and made sure our time was enjoyable; always reachable!

We had an amazing week at this property. We were very happy with how roomy it was and the golf cart for the beach was 100!!! Pool was warm and we had everything we needed. Sherie communicated with me everyday to make sure I had what I needed. Amazing host, amazing house, absolutely amazing week.

This was our first time staying in the OBX. We loved it. Sherri was excellent. She was very commutative right from the start of the booking. The house is a little dated; but overall it was a perfect fit for our party of 21. The kitchen was very well stocked, it was great having the two refrigerators in the kitchen along with the two dishwashers. The pool was great. The hot tub was hot. The only complaint we would say is maybe have a little more outside furniture on the upper deck. With the large crowd another table would of be been perfect. Overall a great place to stay; thank you for the memories.

House was well equipped with dishes, kitchen appliances and utensils,&linen. The size was perfect for our group. The owner was prompt in responding to our calls and offered solutions , but needs to have a local maintenance person. We were instructed on how to fix some problems but assistance was not available. The pictures on line were obviously old, the outside has faded, the decks needed to be sealed, afraid of getting splinters of barefoot, key doesn’t work in front lock, and took a phone call and much effort to get it to work, screen door in master bedroom fell off first time we tried to close it as did handle on kitchen window. Smoke alarm went off at end of week, called, given instructions but had to climb a chair to replace the battery . The golf cart stopped working midway through the week and could not be recharged, bikes were fun, but half of them were inoperable. The location was great, loved the pool hot tub and pool table, as well as the large dining table, we loved Corolla and in spite of all these annoyances had a wonderful time.

We booked the house for July 4th week to spend with family. We had 20 total in our group and the house had more than enough space to accommodate at all times without it ever feeling crowded.
The location could not have been better. It’s located further north in Corolla which is quieter than the rest of the island. We drove the golf cart and bikes to the beach, park and nearby stores which made it fun for everyone. Just across the main road there are several things to see and do like the lighthouse & Whalehead in Corolla Park, little shops, beer garden, pizza and BBQ spots.
Just a few minute walk to the beach access at the dead end street, the beach was never crowded compared to further down where the public access was.
And on the 4th, the fireworks could not have been more perfect as they shot off behind the lighthouse and Whalehead at the park, allowing us to watch perfectly all together on the top back deck.
Sherri, the owner, was so accommodating during the lead up, sending various emails with intel and links for things to do and had the house stocked with everything needed for cooking, grilling, tons of games, volleyball, and a clean pool and hot tub.
After spending a week in OBX and visiting the rest of the island, our group unanimously agreed that the house and location could not have been better for our group due to proximity to so many walkable things to do, no crowds in the area and THE perfect spot for fireworks on the 4th.

We had a multi family group ranging from 68 yrs to 1 month and this home was comfortable and convenient for all.
The beach is just down the street one direction and the Currituck Lighthouse is a block away the other direction. Great location!!
The kids and adults both enjoyed the pool and hottub daily! The home was clean and carpets being cleaned just before we arrived. The owner, Sherrie, was very accommodating. Several packages of new items for the home arrived during our stay.
Thanks for the great time!

It was our first time to the OBX, and we LOVED it. First of all, this house is in a wonderful location, right between the beach and Corolla Park and Historic Village. We spent a lot of time at both locations. The Golf Cart and bikes that came with the house made going back and forth easy and enjoyable. The house was plenty big enough for our large family of 10 adults and 6 kids. 2 fridges and two dish washers upstairs, along with a fully stocked kitchen were much appreciated. The upstairs open floor plan is better than what the pictures online show. A bigger tv in this area would be nice. The house was very clean when we arrived, but if you are looking for new and shiny, this is not it. It is an older home, which was fine with us. I just couldn’t get over the blue carpet though. It was very worn and coming apart in some places. It’s in every room and on the stairs. With so much foot traffic from feet that have been in the pool and at the beach…well… it just needs to go. Also, the leaves and dirt on the decks and around the pool need to be removed more often. I swept all three levels and around the pool myself, and I could tell that it’s not done regularly. Also, the flags that are all around the outside of the house need to just be taken down. They are faded and some are ripped. They take away from the look of the house. Overall, the house served our big family well, and Sherrie was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect property for our family! Parents, 3 grown kids&spouses,& 3 grandsons 4,18 mos, 20 mos old. 4 king bedrooms (a must for our very tall guys) with adjoining bathrooms with his & her sinks in each, huge master suite with jacuzzi tub (a favorite with the grandsons), each child also had his own room (making bedtime easy), private pool, hot tub, stocked kitchen, 2 refrigerators & 2 dishwashers in kitchen, huge family table seats 14, 2 Hammocks, Pool table, bikes, volleyball court, basketball hoop, grill, 6 person golf cart, Crib, baby gates & highchair. Loved the ground level kitchenette (microwave, frig & sink)! The weather wasn’t ideal, but played games/cards/watched movies. Only one suggestion: one more sofa or a sectional would have been appreciated since the house does accommodate 24 people & a must for rainy days. We will definitely rent again with our growing family!! Everything I listed above, we used - all good working order.

We were expecting 20 people for our stay so we picked this house due to wanting enough space for everyone. It was perfect even if it was just 8 of us in this beautiful house. Great location, close to the beach, different places to check out. Would love to come back in the future for sure.

First time for most of our group in OBX. This property is a great location for a relaxed vacation. Short golf cart ride to the beach but still secluded from neighbors. House was clean with all needed amenities. Pool/hot tub area was the favorite spot for our group. Sherrie is an awesome host and responded quickly to the only question we had during our week long stay. Highly recommend this property for a great OBX experience.

This house was perfect for our vacation. It was spacious, the house and pool were very clean. The concrete around the pool could use a pressure wash but that is the only negative. The house is in a great location and was kid friendly leaving us with a wonderful family vacation!!

We stayed at Blackbeards Treasure 8/13-8/20. Check in and out super easy. Owners very easy to contact and gave lots of information on the surrounding area on things to do and see. Lots of room for everyone to spread out and things to soar the house.

Not what we Expected
The house had every kitchen appliance we could use. It had two refrigerators, dishwashers, coffee pots, multiple sets of silverware and any pot or pan one would need. The house was big and comfortably allowed for our large family.
Our contract said to report anything we found upon check-in and while we were there to make sure we were not charged for repairs that we did not cause. We had some leaking in one bedroom, the floors in the main room were in bad shape and the top deck had some weak spots (I should not have sent emails on these issues since we obviously couldn't be blamed for this). The refrigerators had drawers that fell out when we put things in them. A dresser drawer in the master bedroom also fell when we put things in it. A banister spindle fell out while we were there and we felt it could be dangerous for young children. I told the owner about each of these as we found them and was then told to quit looking for problems and enjoy our vacation. A big issue was we had never been to the Corolla area before and did not understand where we could not take the golf cart. She said you could not take it on the "beach road" and we did not know if the main road was considered the beach road or if there was another road. We were trying to make sure we followed the rules. The main road was not marked as the beach road. After several emails trying to get clarification, she said she "was frustrated". So were we! We did not enjoy reporting problems!! However, we were told that anything found that we had not reported could be charged at DOUBLE cost. After such positive communication leading up to check-in, we were surprised at the change in attitude. She said she was on pain pills, but we didn't deserve to be talked to like this. Owner did apologize. This may be a Vrbo guideline, but we did not appreciate the fact that, if the grill was low and we ran out of gas, WE were responsible for replacing it. We had to replace it before our first use. In previous rentals, we had always received a full propane tank. We had been given three payment amounts and dates to pay for our trip. I assumed all costs were included in these payments but, mid-week we were informed that we had not paid the dog fee and unless we paid it within an hour, they would send the Sherriff to evict us. We paid but I still feel that we would not been allowed to check in had we not paid all costs and had received a paid in full notice from Vrbo.

A beautiful house in perfect location.
Our temporary home in Outer Banks was amazing. Plenty of room for our 3 generation s of family. So many amenities! We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, volleyball court, had a campfire and cookout night and the 6 seat golf cart was great to get around everywhere. So enjoyable!!!

Nice place, just not our type of vacation
The property was as advertised but we are used to having more to do on vacation than just sitting on the beach. You can only play so much pool and cornhole. There were some smaller issues like most of the bikes had something wrong with them and were not ridable. Other than that the property was good and as advertised.

Fabulous vacation in Corolla!!
Our family of 19 had a wonderful vacation in Corolla in June! Great weather, beautiful beaches and wonderful accommodations! We had fun parasailing, rope climbing, seeing the wild horses, playing pool, driving around in the golf cart, riding bikes, climbing the light house, playing volleyball, corn hole and being together!
Thank you for a vacation we will always remember!! I highly reccomend this property!!

Great family vacation
We had a family vacation and stayed in this home. The home is "well-used" and comfortable. The kids loved the pool and the sand volleyball / corn hole area was awesome. It was great to have a golf cart, however there is a limited area where you can drive it. We didn't realize that the kitchen and living area were on the top floor (3rd). The many stairs were a minor issue for some older folks in our group, but we did manage. This is a very roomy and comfortable home. We enjoyed our stay here! Sherrie was helpful throughout our stay with suggestions and information as well! Thank you Sherrie

Wonderful week
This property was awesome! Plenty of room for everybody. We had a set of grandparents and 4 children's families. Ages from 2 months to 57 yrs. Kitchen was fully stocked, 3 total refrigerators and plenty of counter space. Lots of deck space and room to spread out. Roomy pool area and sand at the volleyball for kids to play. They also enjoyed the basketball hoop and the climbing area at the tree! Prompt welcome upon check in and quick responses anytime I had a question. Would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing time at the beach!!!
So close to lighthouse, we could watch people walking around the top and could see the light at night. Could walk over to the sunsets in the evening or ride the golf cart provided. Loved everything about it, except leaving!

GREAT LOCATION!
We loved our trip. House was super cozy (and a bit "broken in"). House layout (number of beds, which room contained what, etc.) was very well thought out. We loved the golf cart, being able to walk to Whalehead and the ocean, and the hot tub was great. And the owner was VERY responsive and communicated with us throughout our stay.
*Stayed during Thanksgiving and house was SO well appointed that we were able to cook a full Thanksgiving meal without a hitch! Meat thermometer, strainers, knives, two dishwashers, etc. (The only thing it lacked was a pie plate.)
Thanks for a great vacation!

GREAT House for our family vacation!
The location is terrific. Easy walk, bike ride or golf cart ride to beach, shops, food, lighthouse, museums in Corolla. Less than a mile to off-road access to Corova beaches.
Inside of the house was immaculate, all linens and towels as promised. Kitchen enormous and well stocked with dishes, pots & pans, coffee makers, utensils, etc.
So many toys (bikes, kayaks, golf cart, corn hole) and games (board games and premium movie channels for a rainy day). Pool and hot tub were clean and even cleaned again mid-week.
Plenty of room for my family, nice to have rooms for adult couples so everyone didn't have to sleep on bunk beds. Pet-friendly was a huge plus for us.
This is a well-loved, family friendly house. Highly recommend.
** The only reason I gave four stars for cleanliness was that the outside porches and grounds could have used a once-over for trash, spiderwebs, etc. in between guests. In all fairness, we stayed in October and the fall weather probably contributed a little to the situation.

Corolla Family Reunion
Sherrie was the most responsive host - she sent all kinds of information about the Outer Banks and Corolla which was quite helpful. The location was perfect - one block to the ocean and one block to shopping and the lighthouse area, including Whalehead and the new museums. The golf cart made trekking to the each with the old folks and the baby much easier. There are so many extras to keep the kids occupied - cornhole, volleyball, basketball and climbing ropes outside (not to mention the pool) and air hockey and a pool table inside. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and there was room for everyone to mingle or get away from each other as necessary. Yes the house could use some TLC, but with two dogs and a baby I worried much less than if it was a brand new place. The few things that were missing were immediately addressed - Sherrie is truly on top of everything! Great week!
