REVIEW: 'Tons of Fun!'
'We loved this beach house! We had a fantastic time at 'BLACKBEARD'S TREASURE, COROLLA!' and highly recommend it because it had everything we wanted and in a great location. There was plenty of room for our extended family of 22. The house was clean and very appealing. There are 3 refrigerators with one downstairs near the pool and grill. The rec room became a gathering place for us because it overlooks the pool and hot tub and has a nice pool table and bar. The pool and hot tub were large and clean and we used them constantly. The kitchen is large with enough seating for everyone. It had everything we needed plus some. The 7 baths were important for us and gave us the privacy we wanted. Plenty of tv's for everyone and there's also music to the decks with a docking station. We were able to watch an evening concert in the park from the decks of the house and had a great view of the lighthouse. There are bikes to use on the paths along the water and we had fun biking together. Make sure to check out the museum aquarium in the park , it's free, and climb the lighthouse if you dare. But, the wild horse tour was one of the highlights of our vacation. The park had a kite flying contest for the kids and an arts and craft show during the week. Wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this beach house!'

Corolla Village is known as the 'Magical Vacation Spot' of the Carolina's with Beautiful Wide, Clean, and Uncrowded Beaches and Awesome location across from Heritage Park.

Corolla Beach is said to be one of the "Best Beaches on the East Coast" with uncrowded & pristine beaches that are not steep with dangerous drop off.

'Blackbeard's Treasure', sleeps 24 for Large Family Reunions offering an Over-Sized Beach Property with spread out room for activities and the much valued privacy for relaxing.

Our wide and level beach with lots of sandbars provide a safe and extended playground for all. The village has quaint shopping, activities, & friendly locals. Corolla is an upscale island that caters to families. No college frat parties to worry about.... just gorgeous scenery of clean white sand and aqua blue water. Family friendly fun and adventures are within walking distance. The tranquil village setting and soothing island pace provide a calming and comforting retreat, ideal for relaxing. Blackbeard's Treasure is across from breathtaking Heritage Park, one of the most beautiful areas on the NC coast. The park offers a variety of fun things to do; kite flying, living sea and wild life museum, the historic Whale Head Club, dock, arts exhibits, wine tasting events, as well as festivals, concerts, and Fireworks. The Wild Horse Museum offers children's activities and pony rides. This Conservatory is dedicated to protecting the 'Wild Horse Preservation'. DNA testing has proven that these majestic horses are descendants of the Spanish King's Royal line which survived the Galleon Shipwrecks during a ferocious storm more than 500 years ago! These Wild Horses still flourish today with Tours available which are usually the highlight of our visitor's vacation. We also have scenic bike and walking trails along the water with complimentary wildlife like Ocean Eagles, Egrets and more. A huge effort has been made to keep Corolla 'Unspoiled' by preventing over commercialism and crowded beaches.

Nearby are wild horse tours, jet skiing, and kids racetrack. From sunset to sunrise, relax with soothing Light House Views overhead taking you back to a less rushed time of long ago. This upscale island area is home to the Wild Horse Sanctuary, originating from Spanish Galleon Ship Wrecks 500 years ago. It is said to be one of the Best beaches on the East Coast! Extended sandbars offer safe play areas with shelling! You'll love every moment and create lasting memories with Family and Friends.

Most importantly, unlike beaches to the south that have been eroded and are steep, Corolla beaches are wide. We are not in Duck where it floods and are not in the 4x4 area where high tide restricts getting in and out.

The inside of the property was very clean and nice. It was the perfect size for our family of 14. We all enjoyed having our own rooms and bathrooms. We all loved the pool and hot tub as well and they were very clean and as advertised. Realizing TS Debbie had just passed through before we got there made the pool area and cushions on the outdoor furniture sopping wet, dirty and moldy. We could not use them. Also there were no wash cloths in the laundry room as they were to be included with the linens and we had brought none of our own. There were no stores close by to buy any. When I contacted the host she assured me someone would be bringing them. We arrived on Saturday and they did not appear until Monday. We loved that there were 3 refrigerators, several coffee makers and toasters though. That was great! The washer and dryer were a plus as well. It would have been nice to have a retractable clothes line or folding laundry racks for wet beach towels and bathing suits. Our family enjoyed our stay very much. The golf cart was an excellent way to get our tents, food, drinks up to the stairs of the beach and back home again but it quit charging for the last two days of our stay. It could not be fixed before we had to leave. It would be greatly helpful if there was a designated parking space at the entrance of the beach for golf carts in the community. The bikes were not in good working condition and the decking on all 3 levels of the house was in need of repair and attention.

Our family of 22 had a great time at Blackbeard's Treasure. The pool and hot tub were in regular use. The ease of getting to the beach as well as to the park on the other side of the highway was a real plus. Sherry was great to work with. Very responsive. Just a few issues that keep it from being a 5 across the board: the outside areas including the decks had not been cleaned when we arrived (they were subsequently....the interior was spotless); bath towels were available but not hand towels (they were provided subsequently); and the configuration of the 2 second floor bedrooms was not exactly as advertised so we had to make some adjustments from our original plans. But, these were really minor to an overall great experience.

The bedroom layout and bed type worked almost perfectly for our family; the separation of rooms provided quiet space; the location to the beach was good. However, problems with how the property is maintained are numerous: HVAC fan filters (all) and most ceiling fan blades "caked" with dust; poolside seat cushions mildewed; kitchen pots dirty and cutting board moldy; kitchen countertop formica surface and nearly all cabinet trim separating (in most cases, secured with tape); one stovetop burner inop; deck picnic table seat broken and surface mildewed; screen door from master to deck falling off track; front doorknob difficult to operate; some bicycles too rusty to operate safely...and the worst: roaches (big ones) spotted on at least 4 occasions during our stay; plus, wifi router required resetting numerous times per day; at least one smoke detector missing; and numerous other trim pieces broken, missing or malfunctioning (toilet paper holder, recessed light flickering; sink stopper disconnected, etc.)

The house was large enough for our group. The pool and hot tub were popular and we hit the beach every evening in the cooler air. The club car was very convenient.

This family vacation was one of our favorites! There were 22 of us there ranging in age from 5 months to 60 years and there was something for everyone. The house was the perfect size and Sherrie was a great host. When we arrived the 2nd floor air conditioner was not functioning correctly and I immediately contacted Sherrie. She tried everything she could on her end to fix the problem and had a technician there within just a couple of hours. The unit was fixed and we never had another issue with it. All of us enjoyed some pool time, the cornhole sets, the bicycles and many of the other amenities that came with the house. The beach was just a short walk down the road, and the golf cart made transporting beach items and people so easy. I would highly recommend this property and Sherrie. Even before we arrived, Sherrie had been communicating with us and giving us food and entertainment suggestions. We definitely hope to stay here again.
