About this house rental
This is a rare and unique creek house located on the creek in Murrells Inlet. It has been in our family for more than 100 years, and has been renovated and updated inside for comfort and modern conveniences The house comes with a private dock built in 2017, and a floating dock if you wish to bring your boat. We are 1/4 mile south of the public boat ramp in Murrells Inlet. Plenty of parking on our lot for boat trailers. Electric power and fresh water hoses on dock. Dock is new since 2016, and it has electric power and fresh water available. There is a floating dock, and a fish cleaning station on the dock. The creek is navigable at all tides from the dock, and there is a swim ladder on the dock. Guests can enjoy activities such as swimming, fishing, crabbing, oystering, clamming, and boat riding. Free Kayaking from our floating dock is made easy. We have 5 kayaks and 4 bicycles which are included. Owner, with permission, sometimes has access to his boat, which is kept separate from the dock on a boat lift. This will not unduly interfere with your use of the dock.
Beaches (Pawleys Island, Litchfield, and Garden City) are minutes away by car. Renown Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park, 3 miles away, are jewels on the Grand Strand. The public boat ramp is 1/4 mile to our north.
This property has almost a acre of land on the Inlet under beautiful 300 year old live oaks and has a great grassy front yard near the Inlet which is a safe , wonderful play area for children. Please bring life jackets for smaller children so that they can fish, crab, and play on the dock. Bring you own fishing gear.
This is one of the few remaining original creek houses left on the waterfront, and is full of nostalgia and history. We have many who book a year in advance to return.
Laid back, restful, quiet and private.
The house is wheelchair assessable.

We enjoyed our stay at Marshmere for the week of our son's college graduation from Coastal Carolina University. We enjoyed the view from the front porch rockers, coffee and happy hour on the dock, and hours of kayaking. The house is close enough to walk to the MarshWalk for drinks and dinner. We enjoyed a visit with the host and learned some of the cabin's history. If you are looking for a cozy place full of decades of family memories, you should stay at Marshmere. You will leave feeling like you are part of the family!

Overall we had a great stay at Marshmere. We had our son and daughter and their partners join us for the week at Murrells Inlet to get away from work and spend time together, as it’s hard to do when they get older and move out. We really enjoyed the use of the dock for our boat, to only have to put in at the marina once for the week instead of daily in and out like in years past. That was a huge draw to the property for us. We love fishing more than we love the beach but we also liked being a few miles away from both the state park and public beaches of Garden City and Myrtle Beach for visiting a couple of days. We loved the location near the Marshwalk. Our grown kids walked to dinner a couple of times as a group and the girls walked to the coffee shop next to Creek Ratz daily. The porch was great even in the rain, and the hammock was a welcome nap spot. The only caution I would give future vacationers is that it is very hard to control the temperature on both sides of the house. It would be freezing on one side and rather warm in another no matter the adjustments to the HVAC, so bring layers. I didn’t bring joggers or jacket, but I would next time. Also, the owners do state that they reserve the right to access their boat during our stay; they showed up multiple days during our week. While the owners did do a good job of staying in touch, it was not in the VRBO app as we were used to. Overall 4/5.

Marshmere is a large and comfortable home with a well equipped kitchen, lots of comfortable seating, and cozy beds a-plenty. While not out gallivanting, we spent most of our time on the porch overlooking the marsh. Kayak access was super easy and loads of fun! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

April 2022 Fishing Trip
once again, Marshmere did not disappoint. The Rice's are great people and we enjoyed our stay. The property is perfect for the time we spent in Murrells Inlet. Great restaurants a block away, a dock on the inlet comes with the house with great access to the fishing waters. Love this place.

Great stay, met all our needs and had great support from owner.
The location is great. Close to lots of adult activities and good restaurants. The house is interesting (repeatedly added to over the years) but it has a cool character and is clean. It is also well stocked. The dock on the inlet is awesome. Got to do some fishing, able to catch a few flounder. Owner was attentive and supportive. Overall great time.

Great family rental
Very charming! Plenty of room/seating for everyone. There are 5 rooms. We had 3couples and a 15-year-old. We didn't use one of the rooms. Two of the rooms have 3 beds. I would recommend these families with young kids or they would be good to put all the kids in. The kitchen is well equipped and you can't beat the view or the location!

Wonderful charm! We felt like one of the family whose pictures grace the cottage. Enjoyed meeting the host, who exudes as much character as the property itself!

Marshmere is awesome.
The property sits right on the water in Murrells Inlet. It was two blocks away from some of the best dinning places in the area. The house is old, built in 1915, but is well kept and very comfortable. Super clean, boat dock, full kitchen, great porch area that overlooks the water. Best place I have stayed in since going to Murrells Inlet over the past 4 years. Looking foward to renting it again.

Amazing Inlet House!
We loved staying at Marshemere for the fourth time in five years. The Rices are wonderful and so is their home. I could just sit on the dock and read a book all week long watching all of the wildlife. Thank you for such a wonderful week. God bless!
