We had such a great time and the house was perfect ! Will visit again !

Enjoyed the dock! Was such a wonderful get away - we took our hammocks and tied them up on the dock and relaxed. The mosquitoes were the only negative part - make sure to take bug spray. The house had everything we needed and was roomy. We enjoyed playing games around the table. We saw dolphins from the dock several days and enjoyed the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. It was very quiet and relaxing. Also, our grand pup enjoyed the trip, too. Wonderful time overall!

As advertised! Great views! Good proximity to the gulf Beach. Perfect vacation for our family! Island is very laid back which we loved! Will definitely go back and would recommend to anyone!

We had a wonderful stay at fishbones. The house is great. It is in a perfect spot. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. My husband fished a lot off the dock. We saw dolphins. It was very peaceful even though we had neighbors on both sides. We only used the both level of the house and only one of the bedrooms. The bed was very comfortable.. The back deck has a picnic table and a lot of comfortable seats. We will definitely be back to stay at this house. Deborah our host was awesome. So easy to work and communicate with. Thanks for everything.

Our stay at Fishbones was just what we had hoped for, relaxing, peaceful, and fun! The house was in a great area. We loved how pet-friendly the house was.
4.6
Everything was exactly as listed. We had a wonderful relaxing vacation. We were able to paddleboard from the beach on the bay side. We saw stingrays, hermit crabs and dolphins. A short walk to the ocean side. It was great that we were able to bring our two dogs.
We can’t wait to visit again.

I had my in-laws visiting from Germany for a quick trip to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted to find a quiet spot where I could bring my dog but yet enjoy the outdoors. This house/location looked to be perfect and it was! The Germans were very impressed and said so quite often.
There was an issue with the heat not working the first night but Deborah, the PM, was on it and had it fixed as quickly as possible.
I would highly recommend this property and we will be coming back again.

Absolutely perfect beach area, humans and dogs loved everything about this place. We will definitely be back. Some good restaurants close to you and several pet friendly. Just a relaxing vacation

We love staying at Fish Bones. It’s a perfect location for families who like to fish and play in the Sound/Bay but still have easy/deeded access to the beautiful beaches and gorgeous waters of the Gulf. We love the amazing sunset views, watching dolphins frolic, flying kites, trapping blue crabs in the provided crab traps, and seeing how many hermit crabs we can find. (We release all the crabs so they’ll, perhaps, be around for the next lucky guests.)
You can’t go wrong with this house, location, or fabulous host, Deborah.

We definitely want to come back!

Dock with covering for shade is great. The beach is across the street. Very quiet with plenty of land for dogs or kids to play. At the end of a road.

This is an ideal location for a family. We visited with our 2 boys and the in-laws (6 of us total). There was more than enough space for a few more if necessary. The back porch is fantastic and the dock provided a perfect place to watch the sunset. Beach access was easy right across the street, not crowded. You can also go just up the road at the Sehoy St. access.
The kitchen is fully stocked, we did plenty of cooking. The grill is excellent, a big Webber Kettle. The bedrooms had very comfortable beds. The master bedroom is nice with a large vanity and closet area. The house is bright with a lot of open space upstairs and down. Very nice place and will definitely come back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a bay side beach house, and it was a delightful experience that I am eager to share. From the tranquil surroundings to the comfortable accommodations, this beach house provided a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The location of the beach house was simply stunning. Situated on the shores of a picturesque bay, it offered breathtaking views of the water and the distant coastline. The peaceful atmosphere was a welcome respite, allowing for quiet contemplation and relaxation. The private beach access was a definite highlight, providing the opportunity for leisurely walks along the shore and enjoying the soothing sounds of lapping waves.
The beach house itself was charming and well-maintained. The interior had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with tasteful beach-themed decor that added to the overall ambiance. The living spaces were comfortable and spacious, providing a perfect gathering place for family.
The bedrooms were clean and cozy, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of beachside activities.
One of the highlights of the bay side beach house was the outdoor area. The spacious deck offered panoramic views of the bay, and it was the ideal spot for enjoying morning coffee or evening cocktails while watching the sunset paint the sky with vibrant hues
If you are seeking a peaceful getaway by the bay, this beach house is certainly worth considering. With its beautiful surroundings and

We had a great stay. Property was as described and a great location- private beach on the bay and just a short walk to the gulf. Our dog loved the water access to swim and play.

We stayed at Fishbones to relax and celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday. If you’re looking for calm and quiet with your own private beach then Fishbones is for you. Close to everything in the heart of the island, Fishbones has everything you need to catch some rays and relax either indoors or outdoors. It did not disappoint!!!

Nice location on Dauphin Island's West End. The private beach and dock were lovely. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed. Lots of extra blankets and nice comfy beds.

The house was beautiful and very comfortable. We had tons of space and gorgeous views! Dauphin Island was very relaxing and everyone is so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!

We arrived at the house right at our pre-scheduled arrival time to find a large truck & trailer blocking the driveway access, so we had to go through a sandy area to get up to the house and almost got stuck. We went inside the house and there was a maintenance person working on unpackaging artwork and had boxes & trash in the floor blocking our path to the kitchen and we just purchased some groceries that needed to go into the refrigerator & freezer. I asked him to clear us a safe path and he did and he worked on cleaning up the mess. He said he would stop working on the project, but needed more time in the house to get the artwork stored temporarily in an upstairs bedroom closet.
My main message to the property management group, don't schedule non-urgent work at a house like hanging artwork when you have guests scheduled to check-in. We drove almost 6 hours to get there and then had to go by the grocery store before arriving, so we just wanted a house that was ready for our arrival.
Later that evening, we discovered that the house did not have hot water. There were cleaning people and a maintenance person at the house earlier that day and no one reported no hot water.
I will say, that the property manager took the issue seriously and had the maintenance person come back to the house that evening and after a couple of hours of being there, he was able to fix the issue on the same day it was discovered.
Overall the rest of the stay was good and we enjoyed the house and dock, but the experiences on the arrival day could been prevented by not having someone in the house in the process of hanging artwork when the guests were scheduled to arrive. We are frequent renters of houses on Dauphin Island over the past 13 years and I have never experienced this type of issue before in renting previous houses.

We enjoyed our stay at this property and the Island. Wonderful to feel how laid back the area is. Will definitely be coming back to the area. The house was very comfortable and the view of the bay every morning was fabulous. Internet and data connections were lacking. But other than that couldn’t have asked for a better set up. Thank you for letting us stay at this property !

We have been to Dauphin Island years ago and my kids have loved it ever since. This property was everything that was described. It was big enough for our family of 6 with room to spare. We will definitely look here again in the future.
4.6
We had an amazing vacation at this property! Everything was as described, clean and well stocked. The location was beautiful, secluded and quiet. We loved having access to both the gulf and bay and the dock was so nice. Over all just a fantastic stay at a great place. Thank you!
4.6
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was spacious enough for our family to spread out comfortably so kids and adults could do their own thing. We loved the deck overlooking the Sound and we especially loved the dock where our group had a great fishing experience with lots of catches. The kids loved walking in the sand at night looking for crabs. During the day we loved going to the gulf side, which was pretty convenient. The laundry room and pantry area were handy and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed in terms of pots and pans and utensils. The dog sheets they supplied were great for covering couches and shaking off sand each evening before we settled in for games or tv. The dogs loved the outdoors areas and it was perfect for them. The place was very dog-friendly and well set-up for them, which was important to us. Things to know: The water at the dock and on the deck at the house was not functioning so cleaning fish and bait areas was difficult. The handy man was very friendly and said he would fix it so it may be fixed by now. The upstairs living room was a fun and comfortable place to hang out with really nice views, but the window in the upstairs main bedroom was almost falling out and was taped to the frame. We had a wind storm and it rattled in a disconcerting manner all night. We wish they would update their photos so people could better tell what furnishings are in place indoors and on the deck. Overall, our experience was very good and our whole group said we would definitely stay there again.

It was a great time!

Property is well situated to enjoy both the Bay and the Gulf. Very relaxing stay and good communication with the property management. Very responsive.
As a side note, stock up before coming to the property. Most items available locally but very expensive.

We had a very enjoyable week’s stay at “Fishbones”. The house was very nice with comfortable beds, and a kitchen with all the necessities for cooking. The living area was painted a white, offset with a soft aqua accent wall…ocean/beach colors. It was not overly decorated—ie plenty of space to put down your own items. We loved sitting on the back deck watching the birds…pelicans, egrets, and herons. My dog liked the beach—so many interesting smells. Deborah, the property manager, was easy to contact and answered all our questions promptly. Although my son did not catch any fish we did eat our share of fresh seafood at local restaurants. Can’t wait to revisit!
4.6
Perfect location. Quiet neighborhood with lots of space to roam. Spent lots of time on private dock. Will definitely be back!!
4.6
Rented this to bring our puppies and 13 yr old labradoodle to the beach. It was a perfect place for our family and we had a wonderful time.
4.6
Had a great week in this house. The only thing that might need updated is the couches. Both were pretty hard. Otherwise the beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, air conditioning worked well, and the bay dock was great for fishing and crabbing. The walk to the beach was about 5 minutes. The beach was never crowded which was nice in the times of covid. All and all a wonderful trip with three generations of our family. We will definitely consider this house again next year!
4.6
Everyone LOVED being here. Perfect size for 7 adults. We had 2 children we bring cots for and that worked out perfectly. The bay was awesome and the beach was awesome. Perfect environment for a relaxing week.
4.6
We really enjoyed our stay. The property manager was very attentive and accommodating. The house was perfect for our needs and the dock made the stay extra special.
4.6
First, let me start by saying this was our first trip to Dauphin Island and I would definitely return. Next Fishbones has a great location and the house has so much potential. We were fortunate enough to have the owners of Fishbones next door and they tried to be very accommodating , however appeared to be somewhat surprised by some of the issues regarding the house. With that being said, the pictures on the VRBO site are not an accurate description of the furnishings in the house. The furniture both inside and out is lacking and does not support the number of guest permitted to stay. The furniture is very uncomfortable and really more suited to,the college group, rather then adults. The house was clean but closets were full of old house furnishings, paint cans, broken lights, and the laundry room items were very dusty. There was no cable, and the property manager expected me to contact the company . The outside lighting is lacking and proved to be a safety hazard. The driveway and carport flooded with ankle deep water that did not make leaving the house enticing. The outside of the house has tyvec paper hanging from missing siding that flaps in the wind and is noisy. The peir is under mager construction the workers are there at all times of the day and night they try to be mindful of the noise but the amount of trash and construction items left take away from the view, and take up most of the Fishbones portion of the beach. Overall, I felt as if I was an inconvenience being there as the focus was obviously on preparing the property for the next very large group of renters. . Again , the house has great potential the location is excellent, I would suggest future renters to be more diligent in contacting the property manager about the state of the property as it just didn’t seem ready for my group. Also, if you take dogs the island does appear to be very dog friendly but there is a leash law and I would encourage renters to respect that for,the safety and comfort of all who bring their dogs. The beach itself also seems to have a lot of remnants from the hurricane season left which made walking difficult in places. There are areas with a lot of debris from destroyed piers along the shore. Hopefully this will be resolved. There is also no information regarding the house or the island at the house .

When we selected this property to rent in February, the owners boasted of a beautiful private dock for fishing. Less than a week before our departure, the property manager called to inform me that the dock was not usable due to damage from the storms in Fall 2020. Given that the damage occurred months prior, I feel that this was not an honest representation of the property. The house is in an area that floods. After a couple days of rain, roads were flooded and we could not get to the front of the house without wading through water. The interior of the house was clean, but minimally equipped with a very noisy refrigerator. The house had external storm damage and workers were hammering away on the two sunny days the we had during our stay. You will note that the owners have changed their post on VBRO, saying that the dock is under repair as of April 2021. We did not see anyone working on repairs so I recommend checking with the owners if this is an important amenity for your group.

My fiancé & I stayed here for 5 nights and loved our time. The property was spotless, the view from the house was beautiful as was access to the dock. We enjoyed fishing on the bayside as well as the (maximum) 3 minute walk to the gulf side with our own private beach area. The property manager was very responsive and even helped us locate bikes to rent and explore the island. Will most certainly be back!

Great house and great service

7th house we have rented in the island.
The deck and dock were wonderful.
The house was very spacious and decorated charmingly.
Issues were addressed promptly. Commutation with the property manager was nice...personal connection.
4.6
The location was great. We loved the dock and private beach and bay areas. The property manager was very nice and explained the issues within the home when we arrived. I feel the issues with the home should be explained prior to booking not when you arrive. The sliding door made us crazy! You could not close it without 2 people, the air had a lock on it and stayed at a nice 76 most of the time, the refrigerator did not keep things cold and was held together by duct tape on the inside, the down stairs shower had zero water pressure and most of the time you took a freezing cold shower, the place was not clean, and I could list many more petty things, but those are the major ones. I never leave a bad review and this is nothing against the nice property manager, but if you are charging that amount of money for someone to stay at your place then it should be kept up and proper maintenance done. It should also be clean. We would love to stay there again, but not unless the problems are taken care of.
4.6
We had a great vacation at fish bones. The house was in the perfect location, the pier gave way to awesome fishing. Great place for the kids to play. We had a fantastic time.
4.6
The Pros: The location is great. We loved the laid back vibe of Dauphin Island and hope to go back. The house had a nice pier which is what we were looking for and is right on the bay. The two story dock was great, we enjoyed fishing and sunning down there often. The beach is located across the street, an easy walk. Sadly that is about the best we can say about this rental.
CONS:
The house over all is very dated and has a musty feel. Master Bedroom had a water stain and mold on the ceiling. My daughter has allergies and the mold and dust in the house made it difficult for her to be inside. The master shower literally took 20 minutes to heat up, and often never heated at all. The sliding door from the den to deck could only be closed from the outside, it no longer slides, was very difficult to maneuver so we ended up using the master bedroom door for coming and going. The kitchen was dirty, there was still food on some of the pans and the cutting board that had been put away. The dishes and glassware are a mis matched hodge podge that look like they have just been collected from things previous renters left behind. There was one wine glass! There was not a blender...terrible ant problem in the pantry, I could go on..but bottom line is it just wasn't up to our standards. We are by no means picky, we have rented several houses over the years and even rent out our own beach house in Galveston, so we understand nothing is perfect..but we put a lot of care into our own rental and things like cleanliness and having things you would want on a beach vacation are important to us. (ie, a blender, beach chairs, etc..)
We have passed all of this onto to the property manager, who was very kind, so hopefully some of these issues have been addressed.
4.6
This was our first time to Dauphin Island and the Fish Bones property was just perfect! We enjoyed the bay, the gulf, the neighborhood. The house had every thing we needed to relax and truly be on Island time!
