About this bed and breakfast
Located on Highway 49, within minutes of Oakhurst, Bass Lake, Mariposa, and Yosemite National Park. Two routes offer easy access into Yosemite from this location . . . Southern entrance through Oakhurst (Hwy 41), and the West entrance through the quaint town of Mariposa (Hwy 140). Either route is a delightful drive.
A 4-acre property w/ live oak trees. It's a 2-story bunkhouse, with modest, dorm-style accommodations, 20 miles from Yosemite National Park. Besides the 2 bedrooms & 1 bathroom, the common room has 2 tables w/ chairs, refrigerator, modest kitchenette (counter top with sink, and small appliances for simple cooking). In the bathroom, the shower and commode are separated from the two sinks by a door. There is a game room with ping pong, air hockey, corn hole, & a junior pool table. For youngsters, a kid-size pinball machine and basketball hoop are in the game room. Back yard has small fire pit (chairs and wood provided).
NOTE: No formal kitchen or living room. Best use as a comfortable place to sleep after your day of mountain adventures. Recommend simple/camping type meals.
The base rate is for first 2 people. An extra fee applies for extra guests ($40 / night / person), up to 13 people (maximum occupancy), including children and babies. We can sleep a total of 15 people IF there is a baby in your group using the crib, and IF two people sleep in the double bed. We have found that each additional person adds extra wear on the facility, and increases other costs, as well.
For babies, we can provide one crib, changing table and high chair, if requested. Must include babies and infants as "children" on your reservation.
Please know that dishes are NOT provided. Must bring your own dishes or paper plates, cups, bowls, napkins & flatware (disposables recommended). This a true definition "bunkhouse" . . . two bedrooms, one restroom, modest kitchenette, NO living room. Instead, a "common room" for eating and preparing simple meals, a game room, and board games available.
This is a mountain property with a septic system, and has one water heater (For large groups, it may be necessary to allow recovery time between showers.).

Dan and Judy are amazing hosts.
Before our arrival, they prepared everything they could for us, including homemade cookies.
The property is clean, huge, and close to Yosemite.
Dan has been a guide at Yosemite for 12 years; he gave us helpful insights to get around the park.
I've been to Yosemite multiple times and this definitely is the best place to stay near the park.

We were visiting Yosemite national Park for a couple of days and this location was close enough to the south entrance for us to easily get in and out of the park. Dan and Judy were great hosts and we had a great time meeting them! :)

Great Place to Stay
Great place to stay! The location is excellent; it’s fairly close to the Yosemite entrance and mere minutes from Oakhurst where there are laundry facilities, groceries, and more. It’s also about 10-15 minutes away from Bass lake where you can go swimming, rent boats, or find various local restaurants. The Bunkhouse itself was very clean and comfortable. The hosts were very helpful and kind. They had even provided extra toothpaste, shampoo, etc. We only had four people (all adults) but I think one could easily fit twice that number without feeling at all cramped. All-in-all, it was a great stay!

The Bunkhouse is one of kind!
The Ahwahnee Bunkhouse is one of the most unique places you can ever stay at. There is SO much room. The game room has the pool table, ping pong and air hockey with plenty of room for all to sit around and enjoy. Then there is the massive kitchen with 2 tables for plenty of family time. And then there are all of the beds to accommodate all of the quests. I brought my 2 boys. I took the downstairs all to myself, while each of my boys both got their own king size beds.
Dan and Judy are extremely accommodating with plenty of bottles of spring, well water, tons of ice, freshly baked cookies and made sure that the AC was turned on well ahead of our return from our daily activities.
Highly recommend!! Thanks for everything Dan and Judy!

Great Stay
Thebunkhouse was perfect for us. We just needed a place to sleep because we weren't planning on staying there much with so much to do close by! Place was clean and very organized with just about everything you needed. Judy and Dan were very kind and helpful planning our activities. The location is about 1 5 hrs drive to trailheads and valley.

Great place, close to Yosemite!
My son and I decided to make a weekend of going to Yosemite and hitting some of the trails. I was so pleased to find Dan and Judy's Bunkhouse. It was affordable and conveniently located. That wasn't all though, the Larsens are great hosts, greeting us, even upon our late arrival, giving us tips, and even leaving us a snack of freshly baked delicious cookies. The bunkhouse itself was as described, modest, clean, spacious. It fit our needs perfectly and I hope to visit both Yosemite and the Larsens again very soon!
