The rural escpae you deserve
Cas do mestre is a solid, and beautiful granite stone home, with 2 separate houses joined by a courtyard and shared pool and garden area. My husband LOVED the fact that we were staying in an old fashioned school house, but my favorite part was probably the gardens! In the back corner they have picnic tables under a trellis which when we were there had gorgous dripping purple flowers that I could have stared at for hours! The pool was the perfect place to cool off from the summer heat and everything from the grass, to the sheets were clean and well maintained. Most of our week was spent walking the local paths and visiting the river beach in the nearby town which was awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanliness and beauty!
My family rented the smaller house, which was perfect for the 5 of us. We did have another family staying in the large house but they were wonderfuland we never had any problems! The first night we actaully shared a BBQ with them in the garden as we planned our activities for the week.
Due to the granite walls, the house natural stays cool in summer and warm in winter which was SO refreshing! The kitchen was completely stocked with all the tools needed to cook so we did most of our nights in, even though the hosts, Patri and QuiQue had plenty of restaurants to recommend we only went out the last night! I LOVED this home and look forward to escaping here next year for some peace and relaxation in the nature of Galicia

MARAVILLOSA CASA RURAL
Fin de semana perfecto en Cas do Mestre (12 personas). Comodidades, todas. Estuvimos muy a gusto y muy calentitos. Los dueños, Patricia y Enrique, un encanto. No se puede pedir más. Os recomendamos a todos pasar allí unos días.

Galicia Family Vacation
Our family of 8 had a great stay at Cas do Mestre. The house is every bit as nice as it appears on the website. I just loved all the stone work and timbers. Patricia and her husband met us in A Lama and guided us to the house and introduced us to all it's features. Patricia speaks English very well so that was good news, as we found out that English is not widely spoken in Galicia. She is a great host.
The house is in a rural setting, which we loved. It has been restored to a high quality. It is 3 floors with narrow stair cases, so be prepared for some climbing. It was a bit cool in May so we were encouraged to build a fire in the fireplace, which we enjoyed on several occasions. It was also cool for the pool, but our grandsons still managed a swim or two in that great pool.
The local town of A Lama has a very nice grocery store and a bakery. The closest larger town, which is 5 km away, is Ponte Caldelas. It has two larger grocery stores and numerous nice restaurants. We ate in those frequently. The prices were surprisingly reasonable.
Patricia has created a book for the house that has many local attractions and day trips. We enjoyed the thermal hot baths at Orsense, the beach at Sanxenxo & coastal drive, the castle at Soutomaior, lunch in Santiago, and several trips to Pontevedra, but the highlight was the trip to Islas Cies. The scenery and beaches there are spectacular. We also took a day trip to Portugal, which is only an hour's drive away.
If you like rural settings, this property will not disappoint you. Galicia is beautiful, and we have no reservations in recommending this location to you.

Every of this villa is magic.
Everything of this villa is magic, my husband and I discovered this secret palace 2 years ago and we return each year for a 2 week break. It's a beautifully restored Galician villa with a pool. It has been modernised to have all comfort during a vacational stay but it remains loyal to the traditional architecture and decoration from the north of Spain. There are loads of great walks in the area over hills and in woods .I cannot describe the beauty of the site! My children have a great time playing in freedom, it is a very calm and safe area. The living room is very cosy we love to prepare brunch when we wake up late, but we spend most of the time relaxing in the garden, which is simply great. Terrific seafood and wine, there are taverns and restaurants you can enjoy in Galicia! The best way to come for us is to rent a car from the airport, having a car is highly recommended as all the area is worthwhile seeing. Patricia and Henrique, the owners, took care of every detail since the moment we contacted her. I appreciate people like them, they take pleasure in making discover new paces to people. They proposed us small journeys, good gastronomy and explained us how to reach to the most beautiful part of the coast. They are always willing to help. We are already planning to return this spring with some friends!
